    Mammogram waiting room
    Charlyann M.

So, this was my second visit here. I now realize that your experience is a direct result of which service you receive. I came for a mammogram. I hate having them done. They always hurt and they press down too hard on my breasts. I've had ok experiences with techs that were quick and less painful. This was my worst experience by far! The tech was very difficult to understand. She had a mask on and spoke another language. It was almost impossible to understand her instructions. She was very rough and forceful. She kept pushing and pulling me in different directions. I wanted to walk out. I literally said ouch multiple times. There was zero personality and bed side manner. I walked out angry and in pain. A few hours later I was still sore. I was also itchy. I had red marks like hives along the sides of my breasts. I don't know if it's from the cleaning solution on the machine or trauma my breasts endured. This is still a very small facility and the wait time is very short. But, I will not return for a mammogram here. I would return for the xray services.

First time here, since we changed insurance from Kaiser Permanente. (This review is from my husband but I brought him) We are both in the medical fields by the way. Check in experience was good, BUT THE BACK OFFICE EXPERIENCE SUCKED. Jenny was a grouch very rude. You know this is a public service job if you don't like it find another job. No reason to be rude to the customers that come here. (The reason you are employed) We have great insurance and would not come here again or recommend it. Too bad I didn't look at the reviews beforehand.

Nice place customer EXCELLENT....doing my yearly

It takes 14 business days before your primary care doctor gets your results, which have never been like this before.

Coming to Long Beach Comprehensive Health Center lifted a tremendous amount of weight off my shoulders. Dr. Cruz, Dr. Marisse from the ultrasound department, and even the assistants and front desk treated me empathy and care. I did not have to wait long for an appointment on Friday and when I needed a follow up with ultrasound, they called me Monday morning and said I could be seen today or tomorrow. The building itself is a little old, but all the equipment is nice and the rooms are super clean. I have another follow up coming up in a month and I have zero anxiety about it knowing that I am in good hands.

If you're trying to get help from the women's clinic, don't expect much. The office feels very unorganized. After waiting months for an appointment, I'm asked why I'm there, even though the appointment was scheduled by their staff. If I waited three months to be seen, I would expect them to know the reason for my visit and have my information ready. Communication is poor, and it often feels like no one is on the same page. Overall, the experience has been frustrating and disappointing. I'm writing this so other people can know!

I was given a referral to see an ancillary provider three weeks ago and I'm still waiting to hear that someone actually received the referral. if they ever do I expect several days of back-and-forth phone calls, messaging and long wait times on hold to find out if an appointment is actually available The last 2 times I connected with the staff to refer a question to the doctor( staff whose specific job is to coordinate between me and the doctor.) I waited over two weeks despite multiple follow up calls and still had to hound them to get some kind of response. The doctor is in the office only once or possibly twice a week and forget anyone being able to contact her any other time. Except when I am speaking, face-to-face with the doctor once a month, or with the med techs in irvine who do scans and blood draws, I feel like a widget. With our main KP medical office in the Long Beach location (which is a lot larger), we seem to stop into the Signal Hill offices when we are in the area to do errands and need to get some preventive medicine done (or do a blood draw, which I would no longer recommend at this site....the phlebotomists tend to gossip with each other while doing their work, making it seem like what they are doing doesn't require their full attention...it caused quite a bit of bruising and pain). We had been reminded that the 2024 flu shots were available now, and that the Signal Hill office were running a walk-in clinic till November. We've found the surface parking to be the right size for the smaller facility, allowing one to find parking. It is a smaller facility, with everything one needs on the first floor. If you have an existing appointment, you can check in via kiosks or wait in a one line queue for the next available registrar. But before you hit the queue, there are signs stating that for the flu clinic, one can walk right into the community room (entrance to the room visible from the queue). It was a bit weird skipping the line and walking in, but we were assured we were doing the right thing. You put your name on a sign-in sheet on a clipboard (old school!), and then have a seat to fill out the consent form. The form did ask for our Kaiser Medical Record Number (MRN), which allowed the nurse to look up our record. After a few minutes, our name was called individually, and we were taken behind some dividers to get our shot. The set-up is identical to the flu clinics that many work places sponsor during flu season for their employees. Since we were here, we asked about the new Covid vaccine. The online system lets you make an appointment, with all nearby KP locations being a week or two out. But the nurse stated that since it wasn't so busy, we could get in line with the reception to make an immediate appointment, so that's what we did. It took a bit longer (the receptionist had to do some magic on her end since the system was telling her the next appointment was a week out), but after we got our appointment changed to immediate, we were able to go back into the community room. We filled out a different consent form, waited a little bit, and had the same nurse administer the vaccine. The whole process took under an hour. Kaiser Signal Hill does a nice job of optimizing the pre-appointment process, actually making you feel that everyone's time is important.
