I ordered a bacon egg & cheese and a French toast platter special which is buy one get one from door dash and there were only 2 slices of bacon on my sandwich and no meat with the French toast platter I called and spoke with the store employee who prepares the food and she informed me door dash allows the deli to prepare the food how they like with less meat while paying more money smh don't order from here it's so not worth it read more

Recently, another local deli hasn't been living up much to expectations, so we've been trying other local places to see what's around. We gave Waverly Deli a shot for lunch one day, and overall impression was we'd go back for lunch again. It was very busy when we went in, but the guys working there were nice enough and efficient at getting our order out quickly. The food we got was good and fresh, which really, is what you want from a deli... fresh meat and salads, all with good flavor. It's a small deli, and isn't a convenience store, but that's not why we went there. We wanted a true deli experience with a good made-to-order lunch, which is exactly what we got... served with a New York smile. This is a true NY deli. We'll definitely be going back. I know I wrote a review but yelp seems to secretly sabotage my writers will from time to time... I swear it's like writing a poem and losing it, you'll never think of those rhymes or lyrics the same way again. Anywho, the egg sandwich was overcooked and therefor trash but their variety was dope, I got breakfast on a habanero wrap and a small tweak like that is highly appreciated in my book. Free coffee with your breakfast and the girl was friendly af. I'd go back if in the area but not travel too far out of the way from patchogue to begin with. If you're nearby it's definitely worth it. Unlike many of the other reviews this review is NOT for any of the breakfast foods. I do feel 3 stars is a bit low but 4 is too high so consider this a 3.5 :) Buffalo Hero: 3/5, the chicken was very dry and the bread really was not that good. It reminded me of the prepackaged bread you buy at the grocery store. If there was blue cheese on the hero instead it easily would have been a much better sandwich. Godfather Hero: 4/5, typical Italian cold cut Hero, but pretty good. Again, the bread was really the only thing lacking. Buffalo Wings: 3.5/5, the wings were pretty good. They had a good mix between tender meat and crispy outside. The sauce was more of a cooked into the wing type of sauce. These would have been better if it was a wet sauce and served with blue cheese. Overall the customer service, and delivery driver were great. Very friendly and professional. The food was a bit of a letdown and I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to get food from here. Normal deli. Which doesn't say much considering we live on Long Island and there's a deli every 100 feet. Got two sandwiches. They were out of hero's (how does a deli run out of heros?) but both sandwiches were decent. Each sandwich is was $8, again, typical for any deli kind of sandwich. Ordered food through Uber eats. I ordered a build your own breakfast sandwich, the charge you $.50 for choosing a bagel then ask you to specify the bagel in the special instructions. I wrote that I wanted an egg everything bagel, I just received my order and my sandwich is on a flavorless plain bagel. No one tried to contact me telling me they didn't have anymore everything bagels and ask me what I would want instead. This is a pretty a good deli if you're in the area. The food is good and the menu is extensive. They have a wide variety of breakfast sandwiches with A LOT of cheese on them (my fave), omelette, lunch sandwiches, and salads. The employees are all extremely nice here, but it definitely seems a bit chaotic. There's not much organization and the guy at the counter seemed a bit confused as to what orders were ready and who was waiting for what. The prices here are fair, and I think it does stand out a little more than other delis in the area. They have a couple of bakery items available as well that I probably wouldn't try but if you're into that then hey this is the place for you! Yum !!! This deli was exactly what we needed the other morning. We were being super lazy after a night out the other nice and needed some breakfast so we ordered from Waverly because they delivered. It was kind of an expensive breakfast but that was our fault for being lazy, makes sense for them to have minimums to deliver. We both ordered breakfast wraps and sandwiches and they were amazing. Like I've never actually seen cheese string across when you break apart the two halves the way this sandwich did.... like an actual commercial LOL. Also we ordered large ice coffees and they were the size of our heads. So good. I just got plain but my friend got a chocolate raspberry (something like that) iced coffee and she said it was delicious. Also after we ordered, one of the ladies from the deli called and asked us how we would like our ice coffees, which was very nice because we figured they would just make them however they felt. Nice and quick delivery too. The only thing that was a little off was the fruit, we ordered a fruit salad to meet the minimum for delivery and it tasted a little funky. What does a Long Island gal do at 1:36AM on a weeknight? Gaze wistfully at photos of bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches. (What? I Instagram'd. Now I'm hungry.) This is an east coast thing. Travel here and see. I was going to selfishly proclaim New York to be the only state equipped to produce one. We just do it with talent. (And ego!) Having eaten a lifetime of bacon - say it - bacon, egg and cheese I know the best. (No, I did not forget a word. The proper way to order one is outlined below.) The Waverly Deli has been around for as long as I can remember. A hop, skip and jump from my elementary school and conveniently off the Long Island Expressway service road. Breakfast sandwiches, bagels (another New York thing, people, please) greet you, as well as a variety of lunch items. A fridge cooler lines the wall stocked with drinks. Catering is available. While the line is long, it is quick. How I do not know. This can be a local, casual place you drop into to pick something up. A sprinkling of self serve tables are nested under a television. (And yes, the game will be on. Alas, no beer.) People pop in "for just a sec" but inevitably run into someone. The coffee is strong (and free! the small size) with a sandwich. There's wifi! Daily specials are posted on Facebook and www.waverlydeli.org. A local reading this is either going to say, "Pfffft. Everyone east of exit 50 knows this." Or, "BE QUIET. You're going to ruin the nice things." ORDERING $2.69 buys you two eggs. So say that first. (I'm not kidding. There's a small piece of paper they write on. Don't mess with the system.) Cheese, meat and select breads are priced separately. (I buy my Dad and I breakfast for under $9.) "I want a ham, egg and cheese on whole wheat toast." Wrong. Why would you not get bacon? (I'm kidding. But for the full experience humor me.) "I want two eggs over easy, bacon, cheese (they will assume cheddar unless you specify) on a roll. Salt and pepper." (My Dad likes to have his roll with butter. This is not unusual. If you put ketchup on it I will be slightly upset.) Just be nice to the owner Rich. That's a good egg! p.s. Ask for a breakfast card. BUYER BEWARE, I ordered an egg sandwich and paid. While waiting I glanced up at the pricing menu I noticed the young women clerk had over charged me. When I called her out on it she, had a communication barrier problem. Do the math 2 eggs any style plus bacon plus cheese is not 6:40. I asked for a receipt and she told me she had already rang up other customers and could not provide me with one. Bad business, this can absolutely be done if she wanted. I was beat me out of a dollar plus. I wonder how often this may occur during the day. Do yourself a favor and watch the pricing and get a receipt. After seeing a great movie, I needed a great sandwich. Close to the theater was "Waverly Deli." Its a quick drive, but a headache to park because the spaces are small. But finally I found a space and made my way in. I noticed right away, the place needed work from the outside. The same can be said from the inside. There were messy corners, chipped tables, and old equipment. But that sometimes is a good thing. They make up for the appearance with great service and amazing food. When I went to the counter the girl working there was amazing. She was patient with me while my brother and I made our orders. She asked if we were going to stay and we said yes. A gentleman brought our lunch over to us. Once I took my bit I knew this place meant business. My sandwich was incredible. I got extra cheese (Did I ever mention I love CHEESE?) which they charged fifty cents. I can definitely say I will be back. The sandwich definitely added to the full day as far as enjoyment. It seems there may have been an owner switch; the store was remodeled, and a hot food table was added, which is a nice touch. Food selection changes daily. Never going to this place again. Ordered 2 bagel sandwiches. One was done and sitting on the counter but the other wasn't. After about 15 minutes I asked the guy behind the counter with the tattoos and Cowboys cap 5 times "excuse me" but was completely ignored. So I just walked out. Also observed him treat the teenage girl behind the counter completely like garbage. I order from this place a lot and they are always courteous. Always on time! If I have an issue they always correct it or if they are out of stock of something that I ordered they immediately call me and give me something similar. Because I order from them a lot they gave me a free bag of chips yesterday just to say thank you. They are always respectful and professional on the phone and they have really great prices and really good food! They never get my order incorrect, only one time but they immediately apologized and sent me the correct food and they always have change of 100, they are awesome! They go above and beyond! Just moved into the neighborhood and was in search of a good deli. Sure enough I saw that the waverly deli was near my location. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich with lettuce, tomato, American, & mayo. Now I don't usually write reviews on resturants but in this case I had to. Not only was the sandwich absolutely terrible. I mean there was only 1 piece of dry, & hard chicken on a hero. I understand that places or people might have an off day and I believe in second chances but this is not the main reason why I'm writing this review. The reason for this is the MAN behind the counter! I didn't catch his name, but im sure if any of you guys that have been in this establishment can pick him out by his short fohawk/ Mohawk elementary school hair cut. This guy was rude, while I was waiting for my order to be placed he come's up and says " what's up, what do you want" so I gave him my order. He then proceeds to make it then 1minute later he walks from behind the counter to either refill the coffee or the drink machine idk. Then walks back to the counter to continue making my order. He looks up and I hear him say what's on this sandwich so I say "chicken cutlet, lettuce"... where he then basically cuts me off by waving his hand back and forth as in to stop talking and looks over at his co worker who had a clueless face on. So I say "I'm trying to help you, thought you were talking to me guy". He just stood quiet whispered something under his breath and continued to work on my sandwich. Thats when I said " what's up!" but no response from him. He then finishes up slams the sandwich on the counter, looks over at his coworker and tells him "ring this guy up!!" so I smerk at him while shaking my head. So being new to this neighborhood this was a terrible experience. While I was sitting in my car I thought to my self it wasn't even busy in there, I was the only one ordering and there was 1 couple eating at the table. Like I said I believe in second chances and if I have bad food once I always go back and give them another try. But for the waverly deli, I will never step foot in that establishment ever. I rather drive 6 minutes to the 2nd nearest deli then the waverly deli which is 2 minutes away. And it's sad bc once every week I cater sandwiches for lunch for my realestate brokerage for all my agents. Solid Long Island Spot for breakfast sandwiches (that's all I've eaten here). There's the usual breakfast sandwich on a roll with your choice of eggs and breakfast meats, which are excellent and decently priced, especially when you consider the fact that a small coffee comes complimentary with your purchase. What makes this place a little different compared with other delis is that the standard sandwich options are supplemented by a large number of inventive breakfast wraps and sandwiches that are just as reasonably priced, especially seeing as many of them contain avocado which often carries with it an upsetting large markup. The habanero wrap is excellent and all ingredients are cooked perfectly and are noticeably fresh. Sandwiches were, of course, made to order and the folks serving up, cooking, and managing the register were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. read more

I'm not a complainer but I am my wife just won't let me vent but this time I was told to do a post. My wife went into this deli and I guess it was around closing time but not closing time. When she walked in there was a gentleman vacuuming. She said are you open and he slammed the vacuum down with an attitude like he was doing here a fever. Well at that point she turned around and left. How do small businesses expect to stay in business with attitudes like that. Needless to say we will not be patronizing this deli anytime in the future. Place is fine. Stop in for breakfast a lot. Have decent lunch specials also. Don't expect anything fancy and you'll be fine. Very basic stuff here. Have been going for a long time. When it was owned by the Pakistanis, the coffee was fabulous and that's why I kept going. Ever since it was Quag, and now new owners coffee is typical mass produced burnt mix of 10 old batches. Sad that something as good and simple as coffee is so hard to get when there's no care about producing a quality product. Still seem to use the same coffee as far as I can tell. I recently spent about 3 weeks in the area and probably bought breakfast 6 days a week at this deli. The quality.of their breakfast sandwiches is consistent and their other food choices are pretty darn good. The morning rush is heavily loaded with variously people headed to work so expect a potential wait. I think that is an indication of how good the food is and never deterred me. There is seating available for about 12 people and a TV with New 12 Long Island normally on. I have used this place for parties as well and their catering side of the business is great. I recommend the potato salad and the Italian sandwiches available in multiple foot lengths. Please try to let them know as early as possible so that the bread will be ready in time. They are very flexible and will adjust orders as necessary to please the customer. Great family run business and I can't say enough good things about the place. read more

posted 7/4/17: Ordered an egg white omlet with spinach and avocado. The avocado was brown. Grossed me out and couldn't eat it. When asked if I would like a receipt as I was checking out, I declined. If I had kept my receipt, I would've gone back for a refund. My son however loved his breakfast sandwich UPDATE 7/7/17 - My husband went for breakfast this morning after Stephanie, the owner's reply. She was overly generous in compensating for the bad omelet the other day. She was extremely nice and apologetic. We are from out of town and I had looked on Yelp for a good review of delis in the area. I chose Waverly because of it's good reviews even though it was just a little out of the way for us. I was disappointed in my omelet, but I'm sure after talking with the girls making breakfasts that morning that it would not happen again. My husband and son were very happy with their breakfast sandwiches this morning; everything was fresh and delicious! My son also got a peach smoothie the other day, and a mango smoothie this morning - he enjoyed them both. We will definitely be going back if time permits before we head back home. My friend was visiting me from out of town and said she had been to this really good deli on Waverly Ave. And felt like getting lunch there. So we drove around to try and find the deli but she couldn't find it. When we finally did it was 3pm and the owner said they were closing and just cleaned all the machines etc. and could not make any sandwiches. I told him we had been looking for his deli for several minutes and my friend was here from out of town and loved his deli looked forward to coming there every time she was visiting! Is there anything he could make us for lunch? He said "well I could make you something sandwiches from the salad section. I have chicken fajitas, chicken, tuna, egg salad etc. so we each chose one of those. Plus a drink and some chocolate covered pretzels displayed in front that were delicious! Back when this place was Quagliata's Deli, it couldn't be beat. Since being bought by the new owner's it has gone down hill real bad and real fast. Prices up, portions down. Service SUCKS. There is virtually no one friendly behind the counter anymore. They have young kids working the counter who screw up virtually every damn order. One, in particular, a young guy, with short, dark hair, spends his time looking at his cell phone while listening to your order. As such, the 1st two times this happened, my order was incorrect. The third time, he was checking his phone again while listening to my order. While waiting for my sandwich (turkey, swiss, lettus, tomato, mustard on a hero - not too tough) he asked me THREE times what it was that I had ordered. I told him, kept my cool, and haven't been back since. I now go to the Holtsville Sports Deli about a quarter-mile south on Waverly Ave next to the Holtsville Fire Department. They're prices are better and the people are friendlier. It's just slightly further away. Oh, and if anyone cares to visit Quagliata's...they're located in Smithtown. Used to come here ALL the time. Had a wrap and a sandwich delivered recently, and there was a $16 price difference from the total I was told over the phone, and the total I was charged at drop off. On I of that, they did not even get my order right (I was given a what I ordered on a roll, not a wrap). I called to simply ask about the price, and was snidely spoken to and the woman on the phone kept explaining in a seemingly demeaning tone that there was a $5 delivery charge. The woman got annoyed with ME, and would not listen to the actual problem. I ended up getting so frustrated that I went to the store with the wrongly made item and asking politely for a refund of it. The woman essentially told me no, that she didn't understand what the problem was, and to wait for the owner, Stephanie, to get back from a delivery. She also told me that she had no idea when she would be back. The owner ended up calling me "to try and make it up to me", but forgive me if I'd rather just go to the deli across the street than be treated the way YOUR employees treated me. Good luck read more

Great food & service! Waverly Deli is my regular breakfast spot. The most important part of a good bacon egg and cheese is the crispy bacon. The bacon here is always crispy. I've ordered a variety of items (omelets, french toast, bagels) and never have been disappointed. They also offer the "workman's special" which is an egg sandwich and a lunch sandwich with drinks for only $10.99, a great deal. The staff are friendly and helpful. I order my breakfast on the phone and it's ready in 5-10 minutes routinely. They can get busy on weekend mornings due to proximity to the soccer fields. They also offer plenty of delicious baked goods made in house. The cheesecake is fantastic. All in all, a quality deli with great food and friendly service. read more

Let me tell you why I'll never go here again: 6 ppl waiting to order breakfast, moron comes out and states "Who's Next" takes one order and goes in the back. Returns 8 mins later with all of us standing there and rings up the one customer. Process repeated, I left along with two others just laughing to each other. I like this spot, nothing to fancy but my whole office eats here weekly and the food is always fresh and tastes great. The prices are pretty standard for deli food in this area. I really like their style of Hero bread as well, it is much softer maybe even doughy-er style of roll than a lot of places use. Waverly Deli is the real deal. A true Long Island deli with excellent overstuffed sandwiches with Boars Head cold cuts. They have THE BEST Potato Mac and Cole Slaw. The sauce they use in those salads is the best. Love it. I have been a customer at this deli for many years and have eaten most of the breakfast items, heros and salads they offer. This one star is for customer service only. The manager Frank was beyond rude from the start then told me never to return. First off let me start off by saying I've been a customer for over 17 years. My family has been going longer, and the food has always been great. We love this place and after today we will never be returning. I ordered over the phone and got the usual for everyone and even ordered some pancakes. When I pulled up I had my mask on and went to the pick up window.(which mind you because of the pandemic and the virus, they have some plexiglass separating the workers from the customers for safety.) Well I was waiting by the window for sometime waiting to be noticed, and I even said hello once or twice as a watched a women cleaning. Anyway she finally noticed me and came over to help, in which I gave her my name my pick up was under. She had a hard time understanding me, I had a mask on, Long Island expressway sounds behind me, the plexiglass in between us, noises in store I'm guessing also, and also a bit of a language barrier. I was trying to ask if the small box they were packing for me had my pancakes and home fries in it together, because it seemed kind of small to fit both. Still I don't think she could hear me so I spoke a little louder or maybe I just couldn't hear her. That's when frank came over, and then I repeated what I said to the lady working the register. He opened the box and showed me the pancakes. I asked about the home fries and that's when he started getting very rude. I was wondering if they were in with my order seeing that they forgot about ordering the Mac salad. Yet again just a simple question. Frank rudely was like "what did you want me to put home fries in you're pancakes" meaning like inside the actual pancake. He said this very very rudely. The people behind me on the way to the car were talking about it saying the same thing. The only thing I did was just shake my head and he then proceeded to YELL AT ME TELLING ME NEVER TO COME BACK THERE AGAIN. Which I probably won't honestly as much as I love the food. So on the hunt for a new deli. It's a shame to because not only do I order there 4 days out of the week but so does my aunt and uncle, and we buy a lot also. I also got the company I work for to order from there once or twice a week sometimes. Because of covid just haven't been ordering as much. When we did tho, they were huge orders and with just a lot of stuff. I told them about this and they won't be returning as well. It's a shame what one employees actions can do to business. People like that should be working directly with customers. I'd accept behavior like that from a teenage or child not a full grown adult manager. If it comes to where there's any argument to this review and it's credibility I also have some recorded audio on my phone I started taking when I had a feeling things were gonna get rude.
