I went here on a whim, and am quite glad that I did. In Selden there are many delicatessens, most of them about the same as the one down the block. However, every so often(rarely) there is one that you feel must be checked out - This is definitely one of them. Because Selden is known mostly as a shithole (let's just be honest here) finding this immaculately decorated and organized establishment here is a rarity in itself. I personally will say that Selden has been stepping up the game with their food options... But, back to this wonderful place! Firstly-Well technically secondly, the gentleman behind the counter (sorry man, I didn't get your name) was a delight to deal with. I was worried that I was going to be a slightly annoying customer and customize a sandwich a bit (Chicken cutlet, Muenster cheese, Russian dressing, honey ham(added), lettuce, tomato, red onion on garlic bread). However, he really liked my suggestion and even informed me that he would try it and maybe put it on the menu. Now that may be a small gesture, but it makes the customer feel good, and made me feel great. Now, I wasn't aware how big this sandwich was going to be, or if it rivaled other sandwich places near by- but spoiler alert, it did! A very nice touch was the option for flan... And because I'm a bit of a sucker for custard, I figured I may as well grab it as well. And oh boyyy... That was hands down one of the best flans I ever had. It has a perfect consistency, mildly flavored-yet still full of flavor at the same time - it is possible folks, definitely was a solid A+ Overall, the sandwich was phenomenal, the service was also phenomenal and the flan is most certainly on the top of flans that I have had. I highly suggest this place to the cyber world, as I have to my friends and family. An all around excellent experience, thank you so very much! Placed an order online for 2 sandwiches and salad to be ready at 12:15pm today. I arrived a few minutes early and the food was ready to go which is great. We're only ten minutes from home and when we got home to unwrap the sandwiches, they were both soggy and dry. Chicken was dry and hard to chew. There was supposed to be Russian dressing on one and when I opened the sandwich, there was a quarter size drop in the middle of the sandwich. First and foremost.... I am still in disbelief that the same people own that own Zara's pizzeria are the same people who own the deli.... bc my experience with each place was verrrrrry different. Yesterday I got a bagel with vegetable cream cheese and 3.50 was the total, today I got the same thing minus the muffin 4.12, 4.12 for a bagel with veg cream cheese, yesterday it was 3.50, that's a huge jump, she said "prices went up", but I didn't see any signs saying that (bagel places and delis always put up signs addressing price changes, usually right by the register), I think she really didn't know the price so kinda "winged" it and put in a random price or pressed the wrong buttons. I will say the bagel and cream cheese were very good, the bagels have bubbles on them so I know that they're probably kettle style (boiled/baked), but fluctuating prices aside the service is bad, very bad, the people who work there look like they rather be taking pictures for Instagram and making tik toks, the girl at the front has such an unpleasant combative attitude for reasons I don't understand, mind you... I'm not talking about the person who rung me up, that person was nice just... confused. Their salads look good one day and not so great the next, consistency seems to be an issue here, I will order one thing and next thing I know the people who came in after me are getting their food before me. This is very different from Zara's pizzeria, I have never not once had an issue there, the food is always good, they're transparent about their prices and they make my favorite Sicilian on Long Island (it's not the typical gigantic dried out slice you might be used to, it's so good and I love it), I go to them despite having old town down the block from me. I hope the deli starts to take some note from them if they want to continue to grow their business. read more

This is a gem. There's a lot of overrated breakfast spots on Long Island that are overpriced with ok food. Zara's is not one of those. I been ordering from here for years and after today I will never order from here again. The little girl who answered the phone was dumb and rude. I asked for a hungry man platter with over easy eggs and she asked me if I wanted it all mixed together when I asked her what she meant she caught an attitude an said that's an omelet. I said I don't want an omelette I want over easy eggs not only was she rude but dumb. I get my food and asked for home fries they sent greasy oily hash brown with green pepper. The ham was burnt so was the bacon. My husband had a western omelette and it was pretty much onion and peppers. This place has completely fallen off and is absolutely horrible. I usually would support a small buisness but lately their food has gotten worst and worst and made with no real love.
