LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. I scheduled an appointment for Brazilian, underarm and eyebrow wax at another popular location that has great Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, they called 45 minutes before my appointment (the Friday of a holiday weekend) to inform me that the waxer went home sick and my appointment was cancelled with no recourse to reschedule with someone else. Uggggggggh! I hopped on Yelp, called 5 or 6 different places and finally landed with Wax & Beauty Bar. All I can say is ALL things happen for a reason! I am beyond upset right now, please allow me to explain. I had contacted Wax and Beauty Bar over a week ago to find out when they would be taking appts again and was happy to be able to give them my business again as I know it is needed locally, particularly with Sarah who I have had the pleasure of getting services with before. I was corresponding and having to deal with a gal named Denise via email and finally got an appt set. Fast forward to today; I received a text from Denise (mind you I did not give permission to receive texts) stating my appt would have to be rescheduled due to CO isolation issues (even though other similar businesses are able and planning to be opening soon). She didn't even have me scheduled with the correct person for my services and puzzled by all this and busy working, I asked her to simply get me scheduled with Sarah as soon as she could. Denise suddenly decided she wanted to decipher my text tone like a juvenile, becoming incredibly rude and told me that I should take my business elsewhere. As a loyal customer, essential healthcare worker who doesn't get the luxury of hiding out at home, and also a business owner, I am appalled by the atrocious attitude I received from this worker. If I treated people like this, I wouldn't be in business myself. Denise, do yourself a favor and check yourself and learn CUSTOMER SERVICE, it's a basic 101. Furthermore, now wouldn't be a great time to run off what's left of your customers due to your crappy attitude. I am more than happy now to take my business somewhere else who will be grateful for their paying customers. Tl;dr - staff isn't friendly, wax they use is awful, I've never had such a horrible after wax experience. I had a really difficult time booking. I think it's because I bought a Groupon to try this place out. Never again. Initially, people on the phone were so unpleasant. The women sounded like they hated their jobs and just did not care to book me. Funny when I called later without saying I had a Groupon...first, she told me I should just book online...when I insisted, then magically she had sooner availability. But whatever. Not THAT big of a deal. I arrived for my appointment, and admittedly, it's a cure little place. It's not welcoming or friendly...but it has nice big windows and cute decor. I waited around for my appointment and tried asking some questions about other services. But other women that worked there would walk up to the desk and interrupt, mid-sentence, to talk to the woman at the desk. Ok. She was nice and tried to give me attention. She was probably 1 of 2 nice employees. The 2nd was the woman who did my wax. She was awkward and it was difficult to keep conversation because the wax they use hurt 5x worse than usual. And it was difficult for her to use. She had problems ripping it off...I didn't realize at the time this would cause huge issues. But even though I exfoliated, cleaned, and cared for the area post wax, as usual...I started getting a ton of ingrown hairs...worse than I have ever experienced. I'm going to have to see my doctor for extraction of some of the ingrown that I can see under the skin. I've never had such a painful experience during or after a wax. This has truly been horrible. I've had at most 1 or 2 ingrown hairs from waxing. After this experience, I had in the tens of ingrown hairs that I was able to extract...but about 8 that will need to be medically extracted. read more

This use to be my go to place for all my waxing needs, but after my experience today I will no longer be using their services. I left 45 mins prior to my appointment to cover any traffic delays. Unfortunately, a traffic jam occurred which was going to make me 8-10 mins late to my appointment. I called 10 mins prior to my appointment to let my esthetician, Halo, know. The front desk rep told me that Halo wouldn't be able to see me since she had a client after me. I was asked if I wanted to reschedule for an opening available the next day. I was willing to do so, but was informed by the rep that I would be charged for today and the next day. Now I understand this is a business, but at some point you need to be able to take care of your customers especially the loyal ones. I rarely was taken in exactly at my appointment time. One time I had to wait 15 mins after my appointment time and another time my appointment was canceled on me while I driving to my appointment. Every time I was understanding as I know things happen. So Wax & Beauty expects their customers to be understanding of their situations, but are not willing to be understanding of their customers situations. They could've done anything from rescheduling me without charging me for today, pushed the next client back a little which has been done to me, did my service after the next client and so on instead they charged me. I will say that the front desk rep, Hailey, was professional and sweet with my very upset butt as I was very upset with the response given to me for something that was completely out of my control. read more

I am, what the people call, "low maintenance." Quite frankly I'm feeling pretty good about my bodily upkeep if I rally to shower in the morning. I also generally do not enjoy being around people who make it their life's goal to attain superficial augmentation in every way. Hair is hair. Face is face. Skin is skin. We're all just a lump of flesh, you know what I mean? So I avoid spas, salons, and any place where the air smells as toxic as the conversation sounds. However I've been swimming a lot and partaking in other, let's say, extra-curricular activities, and I'm in my 30s - so something kind of clicked and I thought to myself, why not get my naughty bits waxed once a month? Before moving back to Denver I went to three different places and they all were some combination of being over-priced, inefficient/not thorough, stuck-up, and inconvenient. But my home state delivered the quadrafecta: affordable, relatively painless and effective, down-to-earth, and two blocks from my home. I've beein waxed by both Denise and Sarah. Both are great. Their very being soothes my soul and are so fast I don't have time to dwell on the vain pain I'm essentially self-inflicting. They also have a special super power to zap any and all awkwardness and aloofness out of the environment. Amazing women. If you are a little shy, note that the room is small and the door leads right out to the salon chairs should it be open. There is no modicum of modesty here. You just strip down in front of your waxer and climb up on the table with no cover. Many years ago I was introduced the glorious feel of hard wax on sensitive areas of the body and have been hooked ever since. I will only go to places that offer hard wax. The wax used at this studio felt incredibly soothing as Lori glided it over my lady parts. She used a new stick each time for sanitary completeness and got any stragglers with a tweezer. For brazilians I'm accustomed to turning over and spreading the cheeks but Lori had me do the happy baby yoga pose.
