I went to see Fefe for a deep tissue massage using a Groupon. I had some nagging issues from running and my entire left side was tight from my neck to my foot. As usual I waited until I was in serious pain to do something about it. I told Fefe what was going on and she went to work. She has one small office that is down a hallway filled with other health/wellness specialty offices. The entrance is attached to the JC Salon. I found it comfortable and relaxing. She checked in regularly to make sure I was ok during the massage. I felt like she was targeting pressure points that I didn't even know about! Not sure about the negative reviews here.... I've been to her 3 times and can tell you a few things: 1. most affordable wax I've been to in this area. (comparing to 3 places in DC) 2. the pain level is equal if not LESS than other experiences I've had 3. she's fairly quick. I feel like she pulls off fewer strips, which makes it faster and less painful. I think she's sweet and considerate. I haven't had any infections or weird reactions. I have experienced several services; Brazilian waxing(a necessary evil), underarms, upper and lower legs and eyebrow wax. I must say with all services completed I left feeling like a new woman. FeFe will talk you through the most difficult waxing which are the legs for me and provides humor in your "baring through it" and then boom you look up and you're done. I initially left a positive review 5 minutes,after my bikini wax here which turned out to be very hasty of me because within 3 days my hair was growing back and I was covered in ingrown hairs one of which is infected so bad I wish I could sue this place. It's been 1.5 months and I have a skin infection from this waxing. I'm beyond upset! I just moved here from Florida where I'd been having a Brazilian bikini wax every 3 weeks for a long time. I went to FeFe a few days ago before I went on vacation for a Brazilian. Although she was nice and charming, she did not pay attention when I told her I had sensitive skin. As a matter of fact she spent more time talking to me about the benefits of the wax she was using than actually making sure the wax wasn't damaging my skin. A few days later I have three painful in-grown hairs that I must now go to the doctor about. If you have sensitive skin I strongly advise you not to go here. I've had 2 massages with Fefe and I plan to go back for more. She is treating my frozen shoulder muscles and has been very effective at targeting where I am stiff with pressure point therapy. That does hurt but afterwards she soothes it away and treats you to heat. I am feeling better and with more treatments I look forward to being pain free in my shoulders. Fefe is the best massage therapist I have ever had. That's sounds grandiose but it's true. There are therapists within walking distance from my house but I travel 40 minutes to get to Fefe. She hurried along the healing process if not jumpstarted it in my leg after I broke my foot and had to wear a cast for three months. If I tell her an area of my body is bothering me I know the day after my massage it will be better. She is an expert. There is nothing magic about it. Awesome massage. Fefe was really nice to deal with, friendly in the beginning and then let me just quietly relax and enjoy the massage when I needed to be quiet. She was great at reading my cues as to what I liked and didn't like. The massage salon space was clean and cozy, and was a nice surprise. I had never been in that building and didn't know what to expect. Tip - don't bother with street parking on Wilson. Go around to the street behind and go to the underground parking garage. Very nice women but I would have been better off shaving instead of paying over $100 for this service. I came in for an upper leg and bikini wax before my trip to the beach. She used a blue hard wax, which was nice because it wasn't painful but I noticed that the wax was not grabbing the hair from the root. I don't know if it was the wax or her technique. Regardless, the hair grew back after a couple of days just like it does when I shave. I've gotten waxed before and have had it last for almost 3 weeks, you can just tell when the hair comes from the root. Also, right after she waxed me I noticed when I got home that she missed a couple spots on my legs. I called her and she asked me to come back in. She blamed it on me, saying that I should have exfoliated before the wax and I should have said something when she asked me to take a look after the original service. First of all, I regularly exfoliate my skin and second, I wouldn't have been able to see the hair in the dark lighting at her shop. Really frustrating and disappointing! If you do decide to go in for a wax, ask her how she makes sure she's grabbing the hair from the root. read more
