I have to shout out the person who does my surgaring, Lynn, because she is truly amazing at what she does! Her sugaring technique is chef's kiss -- super gentle, thorough, and she really takes her time to make sure everything is perfect. What I appreciate most is her attention to detail. After the sugaring is done, she will ask if it's okay to switch over to hard wax or tweezing to make sure everything is perfect. And she makes good product recommendations. Nothing ever feels rushed, and she makes the whole experience so comfortable and easy. You can tell she genuinely cares about her work and her clients. Lalla Skincare is the only place I go to for waxing. This place is a hidden gem, tucked away in a residential area in Arlington, which adds to the peacefulness of the experience. There are two parking spots out front, but I have never had an issue being able to park there. If the tiny parking lot were full, it's easy to find street parking nearby. I also appreciate that this is a women-only spa, overall it feels very private and safe. I've started booking appointments only with Maryam, as I appreciate her attention to detail and her kind, considerate approach to treatments. How have I not written a review for Lalla before? I've been going to her for at least 10 years and she is amazing. I'd tried lots of places for last tinting and brow tinting, and she is the only one who gets the tinting to last for nearly a month. She also does a great brow lamination (and can make it look vey natural if that's what you want). She is really good at listening to what you want and adjusting accordingly, and she's a perfectionist, which I love; she pays attention to the smallest details to get it right. I have been on heavy quarantine for most of this pandemic, but I just had to leave this review! I've been coming to Lalla for years, and have failed at doing my due diligence as a Yelper and CONSISTENTLY SATISFIED client. Why the sudden urgency? This visit I came to see Lalla at 9 months pregnant and she took such good care of me (as she's always done!). Lalla is amazing!!!! She kept me calm, comfortable, and in minimal pain during the 15 minute process. I was expecting to be in more pain than I was, given that I was pregnant, but it didn't feel any different than normal. In spite of this pandemic, the facility was clean, and they are taking all the necessary precautions including temperature checks, wellness questionnaire, sanitizing, etc. I felt perfectly at ease. So one day I'm on Groupon looking for ways to get a decently priced Brazilian wax and I stumble upon this place...it has good reviews so I'm like, "why not?!" So anyway, I arrive at the salon and I go up to the front desk to announce that I have arrived from my appointment and I go to give the receptionist my voucher and she tells me that I should probably wait until after the wax to use my voucher, apparently a lot of women don't make it through the entire session. I must've had a look on my face because the receptionist asked if I had been waxed before and which I replied "yes." Boy was I wrong! When I got in there I really had no idea what I have gotten myself into! I find out that this place does sugaring. I've always heard about it but I've never had the opportunity to get it done. Well this was my first experience, and I'm not sure if it will be my first or my last! That ish hurt so bad, honey! And I'm someone who needs to get waxed so it was a very painful experience I won't even lie. Fortunately for me, I have a high pain threshold and I was able to get through the entire session. But, I can definitely understand how some people cannot. That's the Titian was really professional and extremely nice. She talked me through the entire process and made sure to give me tips and tricks for aftercare. I will say, that not all the hairs were removed. But, the hairs that were removed took a while to grow back and that is definitely a plus side of sugaring rather than waxing. This place is really dope, don't get me wrong. I came here a few weeks ago, and did not have a pleasant experience. I got my eyebrows done, and was not pleasant with the results. Pros: Covid precautions were taken. Cons: My eyebrow wax. My esthetician was extremely rough around my eye area and tugged on my skin more than any other estheticians I've had before. She made my eyebrow look extremely uneven, and I spoke up about my concerns. However, after the second attempt I just wanted her to stop since she wasn't getting my ideal shape. I made an appointment for the Microdermabrasion facial and got my tired, dull, aging skin in there yesterday. Easy (free) parking all over N. Jefferson Street, she is right at the corner of Wilson Blvd, but the building and entrance are the first building on N. Jefferson. A very nice woman (I don't know her name, sorry!) greeted me, and I sat and browsed through skincare info while waiting (I was early). Lalla is adorable, so full of energy and happiness, she wanted to know all about me before we got started and she had many suggestions throughout the hour. We did the microdermabrasion with the Vitamin C facial, and I have been thoroughly exfoliated, brightened and rejuvenated. I've only ever had great experiences here. I hadn't reviewed yet because I wanted to try a brow wax too before I did. My first time at Lallaskincare was for a French bikini sugaring. It was so painful but I think it was just a first time thing. The second time I had it done it was almost painless. Both times they took very good care of me: talked me through it all and made sure I was comfortable. They didn't rush the process and did a great job. I finally went to get my brows done after trying to grow them out from a few bad brow experiences elsewhere. The first time I went was just for a rough clean up. I still had some growing out to do. Lalla helped clean my brows up without over doing it and understanding the long term goal. I went back for my second brow wax, this time with Khadija. She waxed them the way she thought I wanted them to be, keeping them pretty thick (which was because I was growing them out before). Once I told her I wanted them thinner with more shape she was able to easily correct and gave me exactly what I wanted. It was so nice that she listened and made sure I got the end result I wanted instead of what some people would do by just doing whatever they wanted. I went for a facial last month, and left with a large brown scab on my nose that after falling off has left a permanent scar on my face. I'm now having to work with a dermatologist to work on the scar left by the poor treatment. It's almost an inch in length. I have reported this place, and the aesthetician that worked on me. I'm so disappointed; I've been here in the past but not recently. Deciding it was way past time, I booked an eyebrow waxing appointment with Lalla who I have had quite positive experiences with in the past. My initial appointment confirmation email stated that my appointment was scheduled with Lalla from 5:30-5:45pm. I then received a second email two hours before the appointment confirming my appointment again, but this time with another individual substituted (Amani A.). I wasn't pleased with this but it was too late to reschedule without having to still pay so I just accepted this. When I arrived, 10 minutes prior to my appointment time, a very kind and pleasant receptionist checked me in and I took a seat in the empty waiting area. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. The kind receptionist went back several times to check on the wait but there was really nothing she could do. I finally left around 6pm, after waiting for 30 minutes for an appointment that was only supposed to take 15 minutes. Add in the drive to the inconvenient location and I have wasted an hour of my time and received no service. read more
