I appreciated that approach because at the of the day it's not just her time, but mine as well had I showed up to the appt only to not have the proper hair growth for a wax. Mary is great! As many of the reviews here have stated, she doesn't have a store front but works from a nice room that's set up entirely for beauty services in her home in North Hills. Text the number on Yelp for an appointment, she's not always immediately available but she'll get you in as soon as she can ^_^ Also make sure you bring cash, enough for whatever service you're getting and a tip, because she doesn't take cards. I went to her recently for my first Brazilian and the scheduling was a little funky because her complex had closed for two days to repave the driveway and she had to reschedule a bunch of people but she got me in super quickly considering all that and worked really hard to find a time that would work. She texted me clear directions to get into the complex and find her and it was super easy. She's so sweet, y'all!! Considering she's getting ready to rip the pubes out of your body, she's super delightful and kind and makes you feel very comfortable and safe in a position that can feel very vulnerable and uncomfortable. We got into the room and she was like "Alright get naked from the waist down!" but in the funniest way, just getting down to business I was like I LIKE HER. She positioned me in the proper way and talked to me through the whole thing and was laughing and asking questions and yeah, it hurt, obvs, but I'd gotten a bikini line wax done a few years ago that went horribly wrong, and this hurt way less. That one left me with a huuuuge rash like some of my skin had been torn off, and this one so far has been fine other than a histamine response, which causes little bumps but is apparently normal (I was able to text her a few days after and she reassured me that it happens to some people and what to do). She texted me a whole list of aftercare instructions (the other place I'd been to which was on Ventura and I hope is closed just sent me on my way bleeding and in a lot of pain). She even asked me to finish the story I was in the middle of after we were all done and we chatted for a bit before I left. She has the best bedside manner ever, I just adore her so much and I can't believe she made such a, truthfully, awkward experience so great. My Brazilian was $40 which is totally comparable to other places as far as I can tell, plus it's nice to have such a personal experience without going somewhere with a bunch of people where you try to stifle your yelps or whatever. I laugh when I'm in moderate pain and I felt like I could just laugh and make weird sounds after the more painful strips without other people hearing me. The Brazilian was also very complete, I only found two little hairs that looked like they just hadn't grown quite long enough for the strip to grab onto but otherwise I'm pretty much naked down there now The wax also wasn't too hot, I know sometimes that happens but it was perfectly comfortable. I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm excited to go back to her for my next session. I think I'll make waxing a regular thing now that I've had a good experience with it.
