I found this place online and was enticed because of their 50% off deal for new customers. The regular price for an eyebrow wax is $22 (which I think is super high), but was willing to try it out for the $11. I made my appointment online, and the process was really easy. I was able to get in the same day, and even though I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment, I was seen right away after filling out the forms. I was initially impressed with the location. It was clean, well-lit, and the staff was very friendly. I was taken back to one of the rooms, and my esthetician let me know the process. I liked that they use the self removing wax, meaning there were no strips of cloth used to take off the wax. I have sensitive skin, so I usually fair way better with this system. After the wax was done, I wasn't super happy with the results. She missed a lot of the hair on the top of my brow, and she colored them (didn't know that was a part of) way too dark. After leaving, I noticed that the front desk lady did not give me the 50% discount. I called the location, and the manager was able to refund me my money over the phone. After saying bye-bye to the Maui Spa, I needed a new place to have my waxing done & I needed it done pretty fast because my mustache was making me look like a boy. Naturally I Yelped it & like magic Waxing The City appeared on my phone. I read the reviews & gave them a call. It turns out they have been here in Boca for about two years. Located directly behind Starbucks & Brewzzi, I was thrilled because their location is ideal for me. Waxing The City is not only immaculate, but it's also designed really well. Not all girly, because men come in here to get their "manscaping" done. For men who are not familiar with the term, please let me explain-"Manscaping" is defined as a mans grooming of his body hair. Like landscaping, but for the body. Let me make this simple, if you have a ton of hair on your back, maybe this would be a good idea. Or perhaps, a male version of a bikini wax might be appreciated by your S/O, since most woman do not enjoy hairy "you know what", (the things you bounce). Just saying... :) When I called to book my appointment I spoke with Shi & she answered all of my questions & gave me great directions. When I met her she was just as friendly & just a nice person in general. Barbara did my waxing & I will be seeing her on a regular basis. She is amazing & very gentle, not to mention she did an exceptional job on my brows & managed to get rid of my mustache so I no longer look like a boy. I am looking forward to seeing her in a few weeks. Waxing The City is a franchise that was founded in Denver back in 2003. Yelp has a check-in offer for 50% off your first service. Great value considering a lip/brow shaping is just $30.00 & that is a lot less than what I was paying at my previous place. They are not pushy & did not try to sell me anything; although if you prepay for services, the prices go down. They use Hard Wax (ceranaranja) which I have never heard of before. It is a custom formulated wax that is manufactured in Spain, exclusively for them. It is not applied with the traditional strips most places use. Barbara applied the wax & then she simply peeled the wax off. It didn't sting as much as regular wax because it softens your skin which makes the process much more comfortable. I'm not going to lie & say is does not sting at all, but I will say it stings a LOT less than traditional wax. This special wax is for sensitive areas (face, bikini etc) & they also have the traditional Golden wax for very hairy large areas; backs, chest etc. I cant help but think of the Sex & The City episode when Harry removed his shirt at a beach party in the Hamptons & Charlotte was mortified because he looked like a gorilla. Such a great show & that was a great episode too. Check out was a breeze & Shi did not ask to see my phone when I mentioned the 50% off Yelp offer. Very good quality waxing! Before I begin my review I must say that anytime I have waxed any part of my body it is a tear jerking experience. However, this place is so amazing. They even have numbing lotion for sale that can be placed on the area being waxed about 30 mins before the appointment to help with the pain. However, my favorite person there is Sandra. I walked in one day to check it out as I have never done waxing before and I loved the front desk staff she was very convincing and nice she said she was going to book me with Fabiana because she is very gentle . I came in for my appt and booked with someone else but didn't notice that till after when the tech gave me her card. She was very nice and made me feel very very comfortable we had great convos to keep me occupied. Only thing I noticed when I got home was a lot of hair was left . There were some spots with patches. Don't waste your time or money with an eyelash lift. I just did it and although the girl who did it was lovely, it burned my eyes for a long time and it made absolutely no "lift" to my eyelashes. Plus the tinting was weak. Save your money and just pay $35.00 to get your eyelashes tinted. I experimented and it's very false advertising. IN LOVE! I had the lash lift service done and wow does it make a difference. I have naturally long eyelashes although they are very stubborn. They always point forward and never up no matter how hard I try. I've tried eyelash curlers, waterproof mascara, everything to make them curl and they never did until now. I will say though it's not for everyone, I don't believe someone with short eyelashes would see much of a difference but for someone with long lashes it's the way to go. It's been over a month and I still see results, using mascara after the lift further shows the results. Will definitely be doing it again! read more

I went there yesterday and had an appointment with Sandra for a full Brazilian. Let me start by saying how much I loathe getting waxed. It is so extremely painful for me, especially in particular parts. My hair is very thick and course. When I came in the room, Sandra greeted me with two wipes to clean myself and a large napkin to put over my lap once I got undressed. I thought this was excellent service because The European Wax Center never did that for me. I explained to her that I was extremely sensitive and she made sure that the wax wasn't too hot. I told her my areas of concern and we did those areas last. Waxing the city does their process a little bit differently. While I was in and out in 15 minutes at European wax center, they basically did everything in five or six strips. Whereas waxing the city takes about 45 minutes because they do little strips and it actually helps a lot with the pain! For the first time in my life, I'm not completely petrified of booking my appointment next month. Sandra made it extremely easy to stay comfortable and she places her hand over the area after every removal of the strip. She knows how to comfort you and keep you calm. She used just the right amount of powder so the wax one at stick to my skin. At the very end, she used a wonderful mixture of different oils to make me extra soft. Additionally, she use tweezers to take out any stragglers! I would definitely recommend waxing the city, Sandra in particular. She took the pain out of waxing for me! read more

After losing my favorite wax specialist at European wax center, I researched a lot on other waxing places and waxing the city definitely caught my attention. They offer a variety of services along with waxing services which I really liked. They offer brow shaping and brow tinting to name a few. I came in to do a regular eyebrow wax. From all the reviews, I decided Sandra was the best person for me. When you walk into the shop, it is very clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. All of the products they sale have been tested and is there own brand. The room that I was brought into was very clean. She answered all my questions about the services the shop offers and I found out that after my eye brow wax if I want to get them filled in (eye brow power or pencil) she can do it with no extra charge. Sandra took her time to wax and shape my eyebrows and I never felt rushed while I was in the room. It took about two weeks for any hair to show up on my eye brows which was amazing. Sandra said that their hard wax is customized just for their shop after numerous test to prevent breakouts on any skin. They do have something there to close pores on the face for anyone who breakout easily. Definitely have been coming back to see Sandra. I recently moved to South Florida from NYC. I been seeing my regular waxing guy in New York for about 9 years and was very hesitant in finding someone new. Finally it got to the point where I had too. So I googled some places in my neighborhood. The place I finally selected said sure we do men. But on the day of my appointment I got a call saying sorry I was wrong we do not do Brazilian for men. It was pretty much the same story on all the salons I called in my neighborhood that day. By pure luck I found wax in the city on yelp, it was 30 miles out of my way but what heck they where the only one I found on short notice that would service men for a Brazilian wax. They scheduled me right away. Trici who made my appointment was very pleasant and assured me they would take good care of me. The place very clean and had a real good vibe and I felt comfortable but I was still a little nervous. It was a woman that was going do it I don't know why but in my head I felt since a guy had the same body parts I had he would do it less painful. All I can say is WOW!! I'm new to the Boca Raton area and decided to visit this establishment based on the reviews. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't "5 star". When I made the appointment, the young lady that answers wasn't necessarily helpful as she was told it was my first visit and never even mentioned the special pricing for first visits. I didn't find it out until check out, which I wasn't informed about until checkout. Had I known, perhaps I would have scheduled my Brazilian instead. As for the, esthetician "Amanda?" Was very polite and professional, however I wasn't necessarily satisfied with the eyebrow arching, as I didn't really notice anything different from what I entered the building with (except a " clean up") on top and bottom of the brow.
