I have been a customer of Waxing the City for 10+ years- and have specifically used the Northfield location for 5+ years. I remember when tipping was not expected and when there was a receptionist at the front desk. I have watched this franchise operation at this specific location decline over the last several years and have witnessed extreme turnover that typically indicates poor leadership/management. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is no longer a receptionist- good luck getting a person on the phone- and often it is difficult to find someone to talk to if your cerologist is running late (a frequent occurrence).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is also the awkward waiting room where you occasionally find yourself surrounded by staff with no clients scrolling on their phones (apparently they do not have a staff lounge). Treatment room hygiene has also declined- and I was recently asked to hop onto a bed still soaking with strong smelling disinfectant. This is hardly a desirable start to a beauty treatment. The truth is- the only reason I have continued to use this resource is that it is in very close proximity to my home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yesterday I had an appointment at 5:30 for a leg and eyebrow wax- and as I was parking (at exactly 5:35) I received a text message informing me that I would be charged for a missed appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I walked in- I was told that my cerologist didn't have time to take care of me because she had another client (which was strange since I had booked 2 back to back services).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I specifically requested Anisa- who is not the warmest person- but who does a great job with eyebrows.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Apparently- I was no longer considered a desirable customer and another woman I didn't recognize told me that she was now scheduled to perform the waxing services. She was very nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. However- after several not great experiences with my eyebrows- I was reluctant to have someone I didn't know- and who was forced upon me- wax my brows. In fairness- she did a nice job on my lower legs. Overall- this experience was especially frustrating given that Anisa was more than 15 minutes late the last time I had an appointment with her. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Additionally- she did not even have the common courtesy to tell me herself that she was refusing to take care of me for being 5 minutes late.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall- this place feels like what you would expect- a franchise- like McDonalds. If you are lucky you'll get a decent wax- but there's so much turnover and therefore inexperienced staff- that is not a guarantee. Cleanliness is not high on their list- and repeat customers do not appear to be valued. The good news is I finally found the motivation to find a better option for waxing. It's a bit more of a drive, but hopefully I will feel like a valued customer there. read more

I've been here multiple times to get a Brazilian but recently the service has not been great. I showed up for my appointment today and the lady checking me in told me my appointment had been canceled (not on my end) and that there "must have been a miscommunication". I had shown her my confirmation text, and there was nothing they could do besides offer me service for a later time which disrupted later plans I had scheduled. Then I found out that there was extra services added onto my appointment that I never requested or consented to. Also, every time I get a Brazilian there is no proper clean up, I am left with wax still on me that I have to pick off later. Definitely going to cancel my membership and contact corporate. read more

I normally LOVE this location & have been seeing Allie for a couple years. However, when Allie isn't available they send me to new girls & this is now the third time I've had a pretty traumatic experience. I've been waxing forever & these 3 times have been BRUTAL. Not sure if they just don't train newer girls correctly or what. I understand everyone has different methods but I believe everyone should have the least painful method for the client lol but that's just me. Anyways long story short if you're going to come to this location make sure you clarify & DOUBLE CHECK that the cereologist you're seeing has been doing this awhile or at least longer than what seems like a day. 5 minutes late after a 2 hour drive and they wouldn't see me. Then I canceled my membership because I'm not driving 50 mins- 2 hours (1 way) for appointments. Well per their policy, if you cancel a membership, they'll still charge you for the next month. To me, that's a scam. They make up by saying "we'll you can use your credits for 6 months". Great. I'll still have to drive 50 mins (closest location) to two hours just to be canceled (and charged extra $$) for being even a minute late. Seems like a way for the company to make more money and disregard the need for the cancellation. If you never plan to move or be even a second late, I guess it's worth the money. read more

I've been going to WtC since the LoDo location first opened. I loved it until they franchised and lost a lot of the original cerologists. I've been to the Northfield location many times and while the waxing is decent, staff tends to rotate and not stay long. They also seem to be encouraged to push products and memberships, which I don't like. read more

I have been coming to WTC since it first opened. I dealt with traffic and parking downtown because I love the company's approach to education and I could at least hit a food truck. When I found out there was a location in Northfield I was ecstatic! It's close to my work and has ample parking so I can be in and out. I don't go to anyone regularly but so far the cerologists I've seen, Stephanie and Ashley, do a great and thorough job. So. I'm only writing this because I gave this place a second chance and it still didn't work out as well.... First off I only went back because when I originally went I set up an automatic account to build up a savings for future appts, so I needed to use what I've already put in there. I got the same girl from last time, and she's very sweet don't get me wrong- but the first time I went she kept going over my lip several times, and I didn't think much of it... and I broke out over my lip which is embarrassing. When I set up my appt for the second time, I didn't establish it with a specific person because it was a last minute appt... And I got her again. And again she went over my lip 4-5x and I broke out... again. And I had let her know before hand that had happened.. I'm not sure why. I feel like when I've gone to European Wax the girl does it maybe 3x and all my hair gets removed and I don't get any break outs whatsoever, so I'm really not sure what she's doing differently. This establishment is closer to my house then European, but I don't think I'll be going back. I'm sure I could request someone differently but maybe it's the wax that they're using specifically that my skin just isn't agreeing with. All in all I think maybe she isn't as skilled yet and isn't aware of how sensitive the skin is over the lip and the probability of it getting irritated and causing a break out.... my face has never done this until I've been here, and with the same girl.. so just be cautious and don't let them go over the same spots multiple times read more

First time getting a wax with Jenelle and she was awesome! She helped me feel comfortable and her service was really good and it was not that painful for a first timer. The only thing I was not happy with was front desk service takes a bit long to check people in and out and doesn't seem to really know what she is doing. I checked out, but she didn't re-book me for my 4 week appt I was told I needed to do. And didn't mention any packages to me or offers if any.
