No one wants to talk about this but here we are. Prior to waxing the city I'd done waxing twice. Both were even less pleasant than a transvaginal ultrasound at the obgyn as it was equally exposed and embarrassing but with far more pain. Waxing the City was the first time I'd done waxing without the strips of cloth that felt like they were ripping off layers of skin along with my dignity. I love the wax-only method and have found the whole experience less painful and everyone who works there has done a great job. Sure, I wish they handed out wine before going in but considering the intimate experience I've been impressed. Highly recommend for service from front desk to the folks on the table. I've been happy every time. Even the time I went through the agony and the boyfriend's flight was delayed two weeks. Just kidding he will never stop hearing about that. Visited for the first time and Serena is FANTASTIC. I've gotten about 4 Brazilian waxes and they've all been pretty painful/long lasting. I was at EWC (another waxing facility) and had to take a few breaks bc the tar they use is insanely painful. This places uses a much softer hard wax and I was out in 20m. I have been a loyal customer here forever but I think the service is going down hill. They had a great long time receptionist who really gave a lot to the job but since she left I haven't been feeling it. I called last week to get a new appointment and they kept me on hold for 3 minutes. When I am at the store, I routinely have them take calls while I am checking out.. plus it usually isn't that busy that I could justify the 3 minutes. I never make a change on my appointment but today I had to and I called 2 hours ahead of time. If they had an appointment available before or after I would have taken it but they didn't. I rescheduled and then got the speech about 24 hours notice or being charged. Ugh that really annoys me. I obviously understand that policy and usually show up early for my appointments and have had the people working - on me - be late. It just put me off the place. That speech should be reserved for people who do this all the time and if you're too busy to know those things you shouldn't say anything. This is exactly the kind of thing that made me seek out Waxing in the City in the first place so to start with this all over again makes me think it is time to find someone who needs my money. Oh and I see the business owner likes to reach out for negative reviews. Please don't bother. Do it right the first time. I never trust a business that didn't because it says to me the the business is trying to get away with things unless you make a stink. As usual I go monthly for a Brazilian with Traci. This time I tried the VANICURE and let me tell you it is everything! Ladies first off Traci is professional and thorough and there is no hair left behind. But the vanicure is next level. Iv'e had vajacials before but I think I prefer the vanicure better. The exfoliating cream was not harsh and the cooling mask was extremely relaxing. I even got a scalp massage while my nethers were absorbing the mask. Anyway shout out to you Traci, you are the real MVP in these hairless streets. read more

Ok, so I have been going to WTC since it opened and I am a complete convert. This is the "just right" Goldilocks solution in the waxing world of extremes -- a beautification who will do waxing but try to upsell makeup and facials on the "too big" side or a nail salon with a skiivy back room hot-pot of goo in the "too creepy" side. Waxing the City is professional and serious about doing what they do excellently. This location is the only one I know but I have subsequently researched the company and the standards are impeccable. I love the front office staff, the franchise owner, and every cerologist I have been to see. I've told all my friends and have already been thanked by the ones who went to check it out. I went here for a Brazilian wax for my first time ever today, and I cannot say enough good things!! I was immediately greeted by the receptionist, who is very friendly and also hilarious. My esthetician, Tina, came out before I even finished the paperwork and took me back right away even though I was early! Tina was really fantastic and made me feel completely at ease from the start. The entire process took about 45 minutes, and while it wasn't painless, it was not nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. Tina is funny and charming and chatted with me the whole time which was a great distraction, and also made sure I had all the information about every step along the way. This place goes beyond hair removal. They gave me a wonderful, comfortable experience from the moment I walked in the door, and honestly even made it fun. I already booked another appointment and can definitely see this becoming a regular thing for me. I've been to this location a few times and really like it! One of the receptionist is hilarious and welcoming and offers you waters while you wait. I usually schedule my appointment with Dara and that girl is like a magician. Getting a wax can be a painful experience but she manages to keep this as enjoyable as a wax can be, never knew that was possible. She reminds you of techniques and tricks to name it less painful and she's hilarious. Wish she was at the one in the South End! Absolutely love Waxing the City in Natick. Something about these ladies here at this location really do make my day/night. I've being seeing Tya here for about 3 years now and with her amazing skills she's made my confidence boost just doing one simple thing.. eyebrows. My eyebrows were terrible looking, completely uneven and just embarrassing. She has never ever let me down. By seeing her she's given my eyebrows shape and definition. I barley have to fill them in because she just knows exactly what needs to be done and be ready for the next appointment. I also get my Brazilian with her and I was so so nervous my first time but something about her upbeat attitude, Tya was able to make the nervousness go away (since being tense makes it worse.) Before I booked, she let me know some tips that were really helpful! She walked me through the whole process which was really nice because some people just assume you get Brazilians on the regular when it's your first time.. but just after a few appointments, Tya already gets me and understands how little my pain tolerance is (it's not that good haha) so with that being said, she makes it more personal for her clients. She just keeps the conversation going and I looove that! She's so sweet! I especially love when it's time for her she'll say "deeeep breath" during our convo just to let me know to stay relaxed and to breathe. But with her doing that just for me just makes the process go quicker and the pain soooo much less! Again more personal with clients. So with final words, these ladies are absolutely great. I met the owner tonight and it was just very lovely to be chatting with her. Some business owners could care less but it's just the fact she had taken the time out of her night get to know me, really does show that they care about their clients. Great brazilian and underarm wax experience with Sarah. She works in small batches, so it's less painful, and also tweezes to get what the wax didn't take off. As for checkout, it could have gone better. I received an offer stating book now and bring a friend and both receive 50% off a service. When my boyfriend and I were paying, the receptionist insisted that the deal was only for new clients and I went back and forth with her three or four times before she called her manager to verify I was telling the truth, although I even had the email pulled up to show her there was no restriction on the deal. Luckily, her manager Tracey picked up the phone and confirmed I was indeed referencing a valid offer. The receptionist apologized and refunded the overcharged amount, but it still left me with a bad taste in my mouth. read more

The esthetician/ waxers don't make you feel comfortable my esthetician was very rude, I was nervous getting a Brazilian for the first time and was tensing up a little, she told me "i was making her job a lot harder". They asked me after my appointment if i wanted to book for the next month and i declined, that's how uncomfortable I felt. The month right after i went to a different salon where they made me feel very welcomed and comfortable, even gave tips on how to avoid tensing up. read more

I am a member of Planet Fitness and Waxing the City just opened next door so I went in to check it out. I learned they are offering 50% off on any of their services for new customers. I went for a brazillian wax, which I have had before, but never with hard wax. Tya was my esthetician and she was great! Hard wax is a longer process than the strips but Tya did a good job at making it as painless as it could be while getting every last hair. She was also very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations on some of their products, which I ended up buying! Always on time and super friendly and chatty which is a helpful distraction when having hair removed from such a sensitive spot. I have been here a number of times for different services with a few different people. The vibe is wonderful and location is great. Walking in it's definitely relaxed and not trying to hard. It's clean and simple while still being vibrant. Everyone is so nice and makes your feel comfortable. There are individual waxing rooms, they are clean and simple and bright! Upon leaving will offer you a black book package which is a good deal but I didn't feel overly pressured to buy products. I would 100% recommend going here! read more
