As their website mentions, when you combine waxing services, the more discounts you receive. Centrally located. If you want a sympathetic & professional person to perform this procedure on you, Steve is the only one to see. I was encouraged by my girl to get it done & decided to bite the bullet. I got the full Monty that Steve is currently offering as a special, Brazilian (front & back) & added the chest wax, total came to $95. Be nice & don't forget to tip him. Steve is hilarious & has a ton of stories to share. I needed it because as soon as I walked in, the twig & berries got mighty nervous. Think of those infomercials that shrink a bunch of clothes down to nothing by removing the air out of the container, but worse. Depending on the area being waxed, Steve uses either a hard or soft wax. Top half of your body generally gets the soft wax & muslin cloth treatment, the bottom half gets the hard wax. There are two wax containers by the table, bubbling away, as you look at it wide-eyed. Holy f***king sh*t! Steve spent a few minutes explaining clearly what he is going to do before the session. While I was listening to him, my mind was screaming like a little bitch "Get out of there, get out, GET OUT!!!" All your clothes come off & you're on the table/bed, looking up at the ceiling & wondering what possessed you to voluntarily subject yourself to this torture. Screw waterboarding, you want people to give up secrets, wax them down there & you'll have the launch codes in no time flat, guaranteed! Steve starts up top & begins by applying the wax, muslin cloth over wax, press briefly & rip off. He does warn you before ripping. Pain is tolerable, brief, sharp & stinging, then goes away. When it came to the twig & berries, things got really interesting. As Steve starts applying the hard wax then does the rip, you try really hard not to scream. Because it's embarrassing, right? It doesn't work. You will let a few out. For those brief minutes, you will want to jump out of the window. Thankfully, they are locked. I felt like I had been there for a few days when it has only been about an hour. Steve finishes by making sure you understand the post-treatment things you need to do (disinfect with alcohol every 3-4hrs during the 1st 24-48hrs after the treatment, etc) and congratulates you on seeing it through. He recommends a follow-up treatment about a month after because the 1st session will miss 30% of the hairs (they break off, instead of being ripped out) - (yes, I *did* manage to pay attention to his explanation, shows you how well the covert agencies trained me). Super-nice & professional guy who makes this procedure tolerable. Get it done, make an appt with him & make your girl happy! read more

I really hate to be the first one to write a bad review of this place, but I can't in good conscience let someone go through the same experience I just went through. I've been waxing since the end of last year. I've been to a couple of waxing places before coming here in that time. This is by far the worst experience I've had. First Kelly used one popsicle stick the whole time. When I told my girlfriend she said had the place been the most amazing ever she would have left one star just for that. Then you are laying on towels that have been washed and seem to have seen better days. I understand being green, but when it comes to sensitive areas I feel prudence wins out an cleanliness is a requirement. Which leads me to the floors which are covered in wax... As for the actual waxing job I was severely disappointed. My skin is extremely inflamed from the job Kelly did. Then when Kelly was finishing the service he noticed areas he missed and simply used a razor to shave them! I came for a waxing not a shave. Other estheticians I've been to tweeze any stray hairs. In this case it looks like quite a lot of my hairs were shaved which goes back to the poor waxing job. Then to top it off my butt cheeks were glued together with wax. I took a shower to get it all off when I got home only to notice more wax all over and lots of stray hairs. In fact my girlfriend mentioned that unsolicitedly when she looked it over as I was relaying the ordeal. Maybe I've been lucky with my previous estheticians, but I haven't had any problems before and they made waxing as painless as possible. I've never even had much in the way of irritation. This was quite the opposite experience and I definitely will not be coming back. I have to say that Kelly was a very nice person and if all that mattered was personality then this would have been an awesome experience, alas it's not. read more

Sure, I'll review this place. I don't care if my family or friends know that I've gotten a male Brazilian wax. I have no shame and Steve was great. Very professional, and I felt very safe and comfortable in the room. He has years of experience and I'm glad to hear that he has expanded and hired more staff. I have visited him at least 3 times and each time was a great experience. This location is conveniently located in the heart of Union Square, easy transportation and walking distance from Bart. I was very ambivalent about getting waxed, not only because of my perception of the discomfort of the actual waxing, but because of my past experiences with irritation after the fact. But, quite frankly, I was tired of my hairy backside, and decided to give waxing another try. I had been to Nickel Spa and Always Tan in the Castro in the past, and had struggled through the extremely painful experience, and broken out severely after the fact. Steve set up the appointment with me online, and was ready to go as soon as I arrived. I spoke to him honestly about my past experiences, and his confidence really set me at ease. I have to say, I was really shocked at the experience. Obviously, it's waxing, so it wasn't a painless experience, but compared to the times in the past, it was a BREEZE. I was actually kind of shocked. Steve really knew what he was doing, and was QUICK! I got waxed about a week ago now, and intentionally waited to write this review, as I was certain I would break out a bit, and wanted to see what degree it took place. But, here I am, a week later, and NO IRRITATION, no bumps, no ingrown hairs, nothing but SMOOTH, hairless skin! I'm really pretty shocked, I've got sensitive skin, and always have some kind of reaction. Steve was very specific about after-care instructions, and I followed them exactly! By now, you've read many reviews about how wonderful Steve is. My review is no different. I actually went for the first time last week after trying to get a booking in a few months ago (he's quite busy). There was a scheduling error and I was off my appointment by 30 minutes, but he was gracious enough to take me in and do a Brazilian super fast. I was impressed that he was able to do all of it in 30 minutes when it usually takes an hour. He's a very personable guy, and has a lot of experience during his travels. I would highly recommend this place. Some advice that will help for first timers (Steve told me this): Buy rubbing alcohol and put it in a spray bottle. After your wax - no matter where you go - spray it on the area that was waxed so it cleans the area and does not cause oils and other unwanted bacteria to seep into the pores. read more

In my untrained mind getting waxed was right up there with having a root canal with low grade anesthesia. Steve's little waxing salon is compact and straight to the point, just like Steve himself. He put me at ease in no time, explaining every step of the process, and moved in a very self assured and confident manner. Had a back waxing by Marvin at their Sutter street location. Marvin was very nice and professional. He has great taste in music and made me feel very comfortable. This was my first time ever being waxed and they clearly cared about me as a person. I had a laundry list of things I wanted waxed and they have a policy of not scheduling too many items on the first visit. They want you to get a sense of how it is going to feel to make sure you want to go through with this. They actually under-sell you to make sure you have a good experience. I found this refreshing and wise. The experience was quite easy for me and somewhere in the middle I commented to Marvin, "I didn't expect this to become relaxing." We had a good laugh and he continued. If you are a first timer like me, my experience was that there were brief moments of light to moderate sharp pain, but they don't linger. As soon as the wax pull is off, the pain stops and you feel fine. I had no burning sensation after and no lingering effect. It got easier when I just relaxed and let it happen without trying to "prepare myself" for the pain. It is over so quickly the preparation is worse than the pain itself. I will try to do more areas the next time and see if there is a cumulative effect to doing more at one time. Marvin was patient in explaining aftercare for your skin and I felt no rush to be in and out. Overall a better experience than I could have hoped for. I will definitely be back. read more

Upon arriving here, I had a nice conversation with Kelly, who was more than friendly and a great guy to talk to. I got a little introduction to the procedure and how it was going to be done before I left the room and waited outside. Overall, the interior looked clean and the mood was nice, quiet and comforting. I took a look around their website and it is very simple to navigate. I haven't set up my appointment yet, but it seems easy enough to do. My only dilemma now is when will I set up my appointment for something to be done. Steve is fantastic! Went in for a back waxing which I had not had done in quite a while. Very personable. He will talk your ear off so much you 'almost' forget what you are there for. :-) He is extremely knowledgeable and would make the feint of heart feel right at ease. So I had only ever been waxed before by the same gentlemen named Michael formerly at Prisms salon in the Castro. He was always professional, did an amazing job, and was pain free. Unfortunately Michael passed away and I went on a 3 or 4 year absence from getting waxed. Finally I had it up to here with the hair and decided to try waxing again. I found Steve online through the Yelp deal and thought I would give it a try. AMAZING!!! does not do this man justice. He is bottom line the BEST waxer in SF for men and maybe the US. He can wax essentially everything and even the intimate waxing is comfortable and pain free. His studio is nice and clean right downtown so it is really easy to get to. Also his waxes are quick and efficient. No pains, no bumps, no irritation, just smoothness. Yes! Pleas be sure to follow his after care instructions he is very specific and he knows his craft. As a side note during my first waxing I discovered that Steve actually trained my former waxer Michael. SO literally it was like being waxed by the Master. LOL!! I HATE Yelp. I think it allows anyone with an ax to grind to post anything about a business, no matter how untrue it may be. As someone who has been personally called names by a ranting Yelper, I think this site does everyone a disservice. I wish it would go away. But I wanted to try a manzillian and so I bought a coupon through this horrible website. Steve is fantastic. It wasn't painful.
