To be generous, perhaps they do not have the expertise to diagnose psoriatic arthritis, but bringing records of my history were ignored. Career-related, have had cortisone injections many times. This residual pain will not go away because it is now nerve damage. Have found good care elsewhere and now seeing a Reumatologist for psoriatic arthritis.. medication should help and my new Orthopedist has prescribed p/t stressing surgery will make this worse and not better. "Don't let anyone suggest surgery." In requesting records, the TxH&K doctor did call back and he is sorry. No suggestion of p/t and I do not take prescription pain killers. For colder days have used a cane or a walker sporatically. Hoping I am not totally dependent on walking aids moving forward. Additional X-rays at my current Orthopedist indicate both knees are the same in terms of moderate arthritis.. clearly nerve damage to my left knee.. Whether their staff has medical training I do not know.

The Lack of timely communication between doctors, nurses, and various departments is astounding in the 21st century. Primary cause is profit over adequate staffing IMHO. While this is notr specifically addressed to the neuro folks alone, I am telliung you it is Texas Health system wide. I could write another couple paraghraphs about their imaging/radiology department (I'm talking about YOU Mark.) Imagine driving 160 miles to discover they have only read your medical orders and history 30 minutes AFTER you've arrived for you appointment only to be told "we're not prepared for your case." A call to Mark in radiology only got an annoyed response that I bothered him at all. Had Mark worked for me he'd be given ONE chance at customer relations retraining, just as a courtesy, and ONLY one.

Got a hold of someone who said they had the referral but no info on what referral was about. Made appointment for almost three weeks in the future. Woman said if any problems she would give me a call. Day before appointment someone call says I have a appointment but they don't know what it's for. I explained the situation to her about the referral. She said I need to get lab work done that day for my appointment. I said no it's already been done. She gave me a number of their referral person to call to figure out the problem with the referral . I said no I'm the patient you call it's your job. Day of appointment 9:30 am. Walk up to the window lady says they are not receiving patients yet (it's 9:20) have a seat. Four people sitting already waiting. The person sitting next to me gives a look of frustration so I ask what time is his appointment and with which doctor. His appointment 9:00 same doctor I find out the other patients are also for same doctor. I ask the receptionist what's going on? She informed me the Doctor was running behind. She also informed me that he is pretty quick so the wait won't be that long. We informed her of all the issues I've had making this appointment and it isn't a good thing that a doctor is quick. At that point I left the office shaking my head. As I left I said good luck to the patient I talked to earlier. Other patient walked up to the window got his paperwork canceled his appointment a walked out right behind me. Overall to me this office is unprofessional and they really don't care about the patient . This whole experience from making the appointment to appointment day was horrendous. Stay away. Front Desk Staff keeps to themselves. There is a self check in that's very convenient to use. Rudy, the Occupational Therapy Tech was punctal about taking me back to the therapy room. Also, the Restrooms are clean. I believe, I saw Christian Decor and they have a toilet paper dispenser that dispenses just enough toilet paper to wipe. Sydney my Occupational Therapist was professional, enthusiastic and personable. She seemed to really like her job and care about me. She was patient with all my questions. The other staff members are nice and supportive too. I was able to participate in neat little activities that help support my grip with my hand. The other patients were friendly too. I gained my strength back in my hand. Iam able to make a fist now. Overall, I made progress and the Therapy was a success. My grip strength is stronger than my left hand!

I was assigned to Mr. Patrick Kimball, Certified Hand Therapist, who proceeded to make a custom cast that I can remove when I shower. I cannot provide enough superlatives to describe Mr. Kimball's process and end product. He was understanding, efficient, and extremely professional. It took Mr. Kimball less than an hour to create my cast and answer all of my questions. I would highly recommend FWPT and Mr. Kimball for all of your hand needs.
