Inside was generally clean, although I did notice a few crumbs on some of the seats and spilled food around the top of the trash can that could have used a little attention. One of the biggest perks of this location is its convenience for EV drivers. It's located right next to a row of Rivian chargers and directly across from Tesla Superchargers, with outdoor picnic tables where you can relax while your vehicle charges. Overall, it was a good experience with friendly, efficient service and a delicious birthday treat. Wish we pulled into McD's or SB instead but we thought the reviews on Yelp looked great. Huge disappointment, especially for the price! The pictures on the posters and kiosk are dramatized and look nothing like them. What you get is a super downsized burger with half melted cheese, half grilled onions, and some sides of fruit flies to set the mood. The bun is 90 percent of the meal. Keep driving! If it weren't for Yelp, I'd probably be knee deep in the Los Banos In n Out line and scavenging for a table. Luckily I saw reviews for this tasty burger joint off Panoche Rd and they delivered! Clean inviting interior, easy to order kiosk, friendly staff, and fresh tasty burgers. It's also connected to a gas station/store and clean restrooms. We ordered 4 classic cheeseburgers (not too greasy fresh meat patties), a large chili cheese fries, regular fries, (fries were ok but not the star) and the brownie sundae & Cinnamon Toast Crunch milkshakes (super yummy indulgent treats!) The pictures alone would probably tell the tale, but if I may add a few words, Wayback Burgers was incredibly disappointing and I will be doing everything possible to avoid another stop at this roadside dining establishment. I opted for the Bourbon Bacon Burger, something I've seen and enjoyed variations of at other restaurants throughout the years. In all other cases the Bourbon is found in a BBQ sauce, however in this particular burger it is a bourbon mustard, meaning every bite of your burger will be drenched in a mustard that drowns out all other flavors. If you love mustard maybe give this a shot, if you are at all ambivalent, steer clear. The Bacon Cheese Fries were another unfortunate mess, absolutely covered not in freshly crumbled bacon but rather gristly and chewy bacon bits accompanied by a mild and lackluster cheese sauce that left me wishing I had just ordered normal fries. I would have preferred almost any fast-food chain to the food I received at Wayback Burgers, especially when you factor in their high pricing. It is a bit overpriced. It's the best in this area though. The burger was a bit overdone and the sauce or bun isn't super memorable. However, it came out fresh and hot. $8 for a small vanilla shake hurt a bit. It tasted good but I've had better. Indoor seating only. Plenty of parking. If you want to pay twice the price of in n out for not as good quality this is the place to go. The only thing going for it is the closest in n out is another 35/40 min away and all other option by it are worse. Classic burgers are $11-12. 5 people cost $100 and it was just so so. We usually just stop at In-N-Out when we drive back and forth to Northern California, but the timing worked out better to stop here the last time we drove and I was pleasantly surprised. This unassuming burger joint, next to a gas station (don't let scare you), makes one of the best cheeseburgers I've EVER had. My husband and son also were raving about how delicious the burgers were. We stopped at this rest stop for Electrify America where they have Tesla and even Rivian charging stations. This is the first time I walked in to a restaurant and didn't check reviews and was blown away how good it was. I even felt the need to tell other people coming in how good it was lol. The ingredients were so fresh, you could tell they made that burger to order and the romaine lettuce was perfect for the salad. I stopped here on a drive to icky Southern California. One last touch of decent food before being subjected to the subpar food, weather, and people of the bad part of the state. I ordered burgers and some sides, and honestly it's much better than I would have thought. I think this place could succeed in an actual city, not just as an option on the road to the worse part of the state. The burgers are well seasoned and juicy, the fried pickles/tater tots/fries are all crispy and taste good, and the shakes look really decadent and over the top. My honest thought was that this place is almost too good for it's location. It could be much worse and still be a great option. And again, like everything in Norcal, much better than what passes for food in LA and other parts of the water-thieving south. I will say, the ambiance of basically being in a gas station isn't fantastic. And the food is very slow to come. So don't order burgers in a hurry, it's not like fast food style. Bottom line is, there have only ever been two places I would stop for food on the depressing drive to sucky Socal. In-N-Out if I'm in a hurry, Harris Ranch if I'm not. This place provides a welcome 3rd option, and a gas station, so it's quite convenient in all senses of the word.
