I've heard many great things about Orchard City Kitchen and so glad I finally got to try it. The menu was a little overwhelming but also fun with a whole section of special menu items Yellowstone/Dutton Ranch themed. Sitting outside was great even at night with nice touches such as hand warmers to warm you up! Dishes were small dishes/tapas style but fun to share. We had the grilled half artichoke, loch duart scottish salmon, KFC, it's carrot rice, fries and Beth's hand pie. The salmon was cooked nicely preserving the juiciness with some tangerine wedges for added acidity. It's carrot rice was unique in that it was like a texmex porridge (this doesnt sound appealing but it was delicious), the various dips that accompanied the grilled half artichoke and fries were good too! Lastly didnt think i'd be impressed with the KFC but it was well seasoned and came with fun sauces. However the 5/5 stars is really for our waiter that evening Andres! Right off the bat seating us at the table he came full of humor, great jokes, and genuinely warm service. Throughout the night he was thoughtful in his timing with service and always came in with a new witty joke! It felt like we were regulars at this spot despite it being my first time. Came to Orchard City Kitchen for happy hour after hearing great things about the restaurant, including its Michelin Bib Gourmand designation. Unfortunately, I wasn't particularly impressed with what I ordered this time around, but I'd need to come back and try some of their other dishes before forming a final opinion. The Vienna hot dog was $12, but it didn't feel worth the price. The chili and cheese they used made it taste more like something someone could make at home rather than something I'd expect from a restaurant at this price point. The KFC (Korean fried chicken) was decent, but the flavor and texture reminded me almost exactly of Taiwanese popcorn chicken without the basil and with green onions instead. Overall, maybe I may have just ordered the wrong things, so I'll give it another try and explore more of their menu next time. read more

I made reservations for a group of 5 and we had a good time! Our server was friendly and happily explained the menu to us, including the general sizes of the dishes. He also dropped off some complimentary strawberry muffins which were moist and tasty. Three of us picked the roast of the day, which was a steak with chimichurri sauce - absolutely fantastic, although by its nature, I'm not sure it'll be available as it was the next time I go. The potatoes were perfectly crisp and it was a lot of food for one person! The other dishes - including the k-town eggs and tater tot poutine - were also very tasty. While the KFC was flavorful, I felt that it tasted more like Taiwanese popcorn chicken rather than Korean fried chicken, and the sesame sweet heat sauce was too sweet. Staff are either untrained or making stuff up to tell a story. I asked about the foie gras and how it's sourced and they told me it was locally sourced which is highly illegal as foie gras bans the production of foie gras and their unethical means in the state of California. Huge legal issue. The wait isn't too bad and the restaurant is semi clean. Loco moco is modernized and is tasty, not too heavy. I've been to OCK a number of times over the years and always enjoyed the inventive dishes, the cocktails and well-stocked bar, knowledgeable bartenders, and helpful servers. Just never got around to working a review before. Went early on a Saturday evening recently and was surprised to not have to wait. We split a Bibb lettuce salad that was simple, refreshing and perfect. A tiny pea fritter was the very definition of a small bite, and while it wasn't what I expected, it was crisp and tender. Grilled artichoke was one of the best I have ever had. (Just wish they had been explicit on the menu that it was a half a grilled artichoke). Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like. Amazing atmosphere, great service. Its both outdoor and indoor seating, a bar top as well. I was torn on the the food, its basically a hit or miss, but over all...most are spot on. I have been coming here on a regular basis for a reason! Foods alwaya been great, especially the bacon, biscuits and butter. The crispy pork was odd, the porl belly was crispy and tender, as a matter of facts, it was perfect! The thing that threw me off was the sushi ginger (tasted bottled) and the spicy tobatchan (bottled spicy paste on the bottom). Always a great meal at Orchard City Kitchen. We stopped by today for lunch. I made a reservation at Open Table, though we also showed up when they opened so it probably would not have been too much of a wait. Their lunch menu is a little more straightforward than the dinner menu. We did order the fry bread appetizer which had a ton of cheese on it, making it very filling. We always walk by this restaurant but never tried it until a Friday night and made Reservations via Opentable. We chose seats inside the restaurant. The atmosphere was lively and very loud; it was so loud. It was difficult to hear the waiter and we had to almost shout out our order. We didn't realize that a lot or all of the dishes are shareable. We ordered the oyster and for that dish you have to pay per oyster. The toppings on the oyster were tasty. We also ordered the steak and eggs, but when it appeared, we were disappointed as it was similar to devils eggs. We had the wedge salad and that was good. Also ordered the KFC and we were disappointed as it was similar to popcorn chicken that you can purchase at many Boba cafés. And last we ordered the lamb riblets, I think that was the best of all of our dishes. It was an interesting experience, would we come back? ...Probably not because we left feeling unsatisfied. Stopped in a few weeks back and was surprised about the changes to the menu. The new change to a small plate French-inspired menu (maybe rotating style?). Overall, we were looking forward to the KFC and other OCK staples but found some new items to try. Server was very kind and allowed us to move completely under the overhang to avoid the early evening sun. He was quick and attentive although must've gotten busy near the end as we had to waive someone down to get the check. Overall, the meal had both high and low notes. Everyone enjoyed the Langos (fry bread) as a started. Kids found that most appealing. We ordered the Beef bourguignon, the honey wings and carrot rice. We did not see the KFC on the menu but on review it looks like it's available on the website. Both the honey wings and carrot rice had small flowers which were not our favorite. Not hard to pick off though but enjoyed it without. We also got the carrot rice with the chorizo on the side (wasn't sure how spicy for the kids). Best dish was the beef bourguignon which filled up our little ones. The other dishes were ok but will likely look to try the other menu options next time. Best part of the menu is their whiskey list!! They have some really good bourbons for very reasonable prices. I grabbed a GTS but probably would have gone into a couple more if time allowed. Orchard City Kitchen seriously nailed brunch. We went yesterday and ordered a mix of sweet, savory, and drinks, and every single thing hit. The cinnamon roll pancakes were insane, fluffy, and topped with a cream that made it feel like dessert in the best way. The KFC (Korean fried chicken) was perfectly crispy with so much flavor, and paired so well with the sauce. We also got the BBB (bacon, bread & butter), and the bacon alone was unreal thick, caramelized, and honestly one of the best parts of the whole meal. The tater tot poutine was pure comfort food but a bit overwhelming with the amount of gravy and cheese making everything much soggier than I liked. I'd definitely leave that dish behind next time. The spicy noodle dish with the jammy egg and chili oil sauce was also a hit. It was simple but packed with flavor and had just the right amount of heat for a good appetizer. We also got a jug of mimosas (strawberry guava + passion fruit mango), which were so good--light, refreshing, and perfect for brunch. The vibe was lively but still cozy enough to sit and actually enjoy your time. Overall, everything felt really intentional from the flavors to the presentation. Came here for my 4 year anniversary because OCK was our first date location and we hadn't been back since. We were excited to see the Harry Potter theme! That was super cool. Now for the ok part: They made some significant changes to the menu , they've moved from an 'Asian theme' to a 'French theme'. Gone are the KFC, garlic noodles and they made some significant changes to the BBB (not in a good way, imho). Now the negative part: They now add an additional 'inflation surcharge' with no clarity on what that is for, or who gets it. Updated review with new menu: Missing some former show stopping favorites from the menu like charred chard kimchi. New menu is more plant forward which is nice. All dishes were sub standard save for the squash flower fritters. Milk punch and other cocktails are still worth the visit. Additionally the patio space at night is unmatched in terms of a cozy and perfectly intimate dinner experience. Our server Katherine N was outright hostile and messed up our order on top of having a really rude and unprofessional attitude. Bummer. This used to be the best dining in Pruneyard but its sister restaurant Be.steak.a, as well as Luna and Marafuku Ramen make OCK's bib gourmand look more than undeserved. The rest of the wait staff is lovely, and we look forward to some improvements in the menu intentionality and execution as well as said outlier staff member, as this restaurant has been a favorite in our family for over five years. read more

Orchard City Kitchen was such a pleasure to try out. The wait was a short 10min which was pretty good for a Friday night. We sat inside, it was cute, maybe just a little loud. The shareable small plate style was incredibly fun. We started out with the baguette and today's butter board (which had apples/pears) and were so excited to be handed a full baguette--nice crunch and soft interior. We also had the grilled artichoke, which had a lovely char and paired nicely with the sauce. We ended off with the lamb chops, which were incredibly soft and had a lovely char as well. The garlic and mint were an interesting pairing. We also tried their paradox beer and butter beer (surprisingly harry potter themed today) and enjoyed those. I've been a loyal customer of Orchard City Kitchen for years, and it's always been one of my go to spots. I've celebrated birthdays here, brought friends from out of town, and consistently recommended it because the food and vibe were always on point. That said, I've definitely noticed a lot of changes recently, both with the staff and the menu. I always came specifically for the BBB and the KFC, and I was really disappointed to see that both have been taken off the menu. Those dishes were staples for me and honestly a big reason I kept coming back. Change is part of the restaurant world, I get that but it's hard not to miss the old favorites and some of the familiar faces. I do want to give a big thank you to Kosar and Ronnie for the great service during my recent visit. They were attentive, friendly, and made the experience much better despite my menu disappointment. Solid 3.5 stars! Superb service - great staff and restrooms were clean - the dining area was spacious and cozy! However the food fell a bit short for me. I failed to take photos of everything we ordered. We were a big table of 11 people and things were picked at before my phone could eat first. I understood that this was a tapas style restaurant and because of that we made multiple orders and shared family style. The best menu item is the triple B - Bacon Biscuits and Butter! $14 : You get 2 biscuits 3 strips of bacon and a glob of butter! But the biscuits were fluffy and delicate and so delicious with the butter and bacon. $21 : Scallop Carpacio you get 6 thin slices and the tart with sharp spice was a pleasant surprise. Scallops were buttery soft. $57 : Steak Frites - the steak was tender and tasty but the frites missed the mark and the kids were disappointed that they didn't get the fries they thought would be. Also the price doesn't live up to the dish that was presented. So definitely the first disappointment. $23 : loco moco - this excited me - until it didn't. One small patty in a small bowl of mushroom gravy - and it was a bit too underdone for my liking and a bit salty. $22 : Garlic noodles. Small bowl of garlic noodles and probably one of the better dishes they offer - great bite on the noodles and flavor. $16 : KFC - the best popcorn chicken I've ever had! Yes popcorn chicken because that is the size of these chicken nuggets. They are small but they're very very tasty and so the cost can be more justified in comparison to the other dishes! $20 : Chantrelle mushrooms - or rather - Chantrelle MUSH - these looked so tasty on the menu with parsnip puree and chips - until those shrooms turned out to be mushy and the puree had zero seasoning... I was severely disappointed and embarrassed that i ordered these and our group didn't really wanna eat them either. $25: Truffled Game Hen - the cook on the chicken was good, stayed moist and juicy and tasted fine but didn't give "truffle" $22: the burrito. Don't get it. Save your money. We asked for the chili jam on the side because the kids won't handle it but - man - that was the biggest dryest breakfast burrito ever The ube cake was deelish! The furniture is industrial-modern with splashes of pop-culture in the drink menu and restroom. My husband and I started exploring OCK's brunch menu about a year ago, we've been back every few months since. We started our meal with the cinnamon roll pancakes - yum! They were fluffy, the cheesecake frosting was the-bomb.com We then shared the smoked salmon benedict. Also very delicious. They did a great job with the hollandaise sauce. The came the loco moco - it is a hearty dish that that easily serves 2 people. OCK's twist was to add kimchi. We finished our meal with the Langos Hungarian Fry Bread was interesting! I appreciated the all the different ingredients - chimchurri, cultured cream, and white cheddar. My husband thought it was too greasy, and I wasn't a fan of the shredded cheddar (reminded me of a Lunchable's shredded mozzarella cheese). I was super excited to check this place out, and I enjoyed my visit here. The prices are up there, and they have a great variety of really unique dishes. I visited on a weekend for brunch, and it was absolutely packed. Be prepared for a noisy, crowded atmosphere. It was definitely a bit distracting because it was so busy. The service was understandably slow because the employees were helping so many customers. The interior is decorated rustically. Some of the dishes we tried were better than others. Since the prices were quite steep, I almost expected to be more impressed by the food than I actually was. There were certain dishes that were standouts. I really enjoyed the Biscuits, Bacon & Butter. The honey butter was so creamy and paired perfectly with the fluffy, warm biscuits. We even met Stout and his spouse in Napa. Flavor and creativity was strong and somehow, the magic disappeared after Anothony Bourdain cocktail menu. Mind you, we religiously supported weekly and sometimes twice in the week. The second to last experience (today) was ordering an old fashion, simple to make but takes practice to perfect a great tasting one. Mine came with 6 cubes of unbroken ice that was simply thrown together. This prevented us from returning for months. Today, we had the most disrespectful loco moco ever. A bland tasting porridge looking dish. Opposite from what it tasted before, earthy and smokey tones, seasoned patty, fluffy rice, and kimchi. Today, the rice was cooked with the bland gravy, rice mushy, and mushroom appeared to be added into the gravy as an after thought. Disrespectful to the Aina where loco moco was created. The aged salmon was another let down. Very light tasting citrus and salmon that appeared to be unseasoned and just seared and plated. Today, we bid farewell to OCK as our loyalty cannot be continued. I've been coming to OCK for several years now, but less frequently as of recent. The classics - the KFC and the triple B are just not what it used to be. The menu calls it the version 2 of triple B which is 1 singular biscuit and a few half strips of the bacon. I was so surprised when it came out, back then it used to be 3 biscuits and long strips on bacon... Same with the KFC - smaller proportions. The seasonal menu and changing dishes has always been a plus and tastes great! But the staples have gone downhill and it's pretty disappointing to see. The salmon chips and dip is perfect with cocktails. The old fashioned is smooth! Tried the Manhattan from the Harry Potter cocktail menu which I think is a Must try! It has a hint of chocolate flavor which balances the tartness sometimes I tasted in Manhattan. The highlight is the banana soft serve. Made a reservation, but when I arrived I was told that the outside tables were booked. As I sat facing the patio, I noticed that tables were empty, remained empty and when I left there were tables that were empty. Perhaps someone was out sick? The interior is nicely decorated, loud and very cool. The food was delicious. I had a spicy Bloody Mary which was refreshing, the burger which came medium raw, I was not permitted to have a medium burger. Turns out their medium rare is my idea of medium so it was all good. Instead of fries, I ordered the artichoke which came roasted with a side of sauce (aioli and hot chili oil?) for dipping. For dessert we shared a watermelon swirl. It was beautiful and delicious. I was not impressed with the server or timing of the food. I got my food first, and waited a bit for the rest of the table to get their food. Without asking if we wanted dessert, our server gave us our bill. I'm not sure why she felt like she needed to rush us when there were open tables. Visited for brunch on a Sunday and had such a great experience! This spot is located in the Pruneyard Plaza, and I definitely recommend making a reservation online because it was very busy. They offer both their regular menu and a brunch menu, which was a nice. We ordered a jug of their strawberry and guava mimosa--so good and not overly sweet! I went with the breakfast burrito and was blown away. For the price, the portion is huge. The hash browns were perfectly crispy, and the chili jam added just the right sweet touch to balance all the savory flavors. Honestly one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. I had to order the marrow because I've never seen that offered (eat it every time we have ribs). It was very good, and interesting. Very little, but that's ok. I ordered a spiked horchata which was very good! We waited over an hour, with reminders, for the andouille sausage to come out. The manager came over and apologized and comped it including the hush puppies. I grill sausages $5-6 a package of 5-6. To have one sausage be brought out heavily laden with plating garnish, for $20, that ain't gonna cut it. This place been on my list for a long time and we finally made it out! Parking was a nightmare for Friday dinnertime, but once we got there the service was amazing. The vibes were great too, and the food delicious as well. We started with the BBB which was real good, then moved on to carrot rice (our favorite item of the night), honey wings (yum!), and scallop crudo (let's just say we were not mature enough for this one). I happen to go to OCK twice in one week. Once on a Wednesday and then again on a Saturday. Both time service was excellent and the food was good. My favorites are the temple mushrooms and the BBB. Both times we ordered the KFC but each time it was chewy and I don't think we'll try that again. The wedge salad is always a winner. We did try one new item which I cannot recommend. It was the lemon pudding cake. It arrived slightly warm, which we thought was a good thing. We thought it was a sign of it being freshly made. However, the thing was extremely runny. In fact, it was watery and it had separated. We mentioned it to the waiter, and he suggested perhaps it was because of the warm weather, but it wasn't that warm and warm weather doesn't cause putting to separate. So we will definitely not be having that again. I'll likely have to go there again within the week for a business lunch so we'll give it one more try, but won't be ordering the KFC or the pudding.
