They are a little lite on the counter which runs into some communication lapse occasionally but I want my car worked on well, not quick and rushed. They have never hesitated to bring out the malfunctioning part and walk me through how it failed in the system. I've come here before for inspections, and they've always treated me with respect and clarity. This time, they passed my inspection but also took photos of my tires and explained what would likely come up next year. They printed three tire options without me asking and talked me through each one. What really stood out is that they recommended the lowest price option -- not because it was cheap, but because it made sense for my driving habits and the fact that my car has only reached about 40,000 miles in seven years. They didn't assume anything about me, didn't pressure me, and didn't try to upsell. It's now 2:30 and the car hadn't been brought into the shop yet. I finally went to the desk to cancel the service and magically they were able to take it right back. Why bother having appointments at all if you aren't going to even remotely abide by them? I will be taking all my cars elsewhere from now on. I wrote a review about my experience at this location, but the experience of getting Mavis to…read morereimburse me for damages was so frustrating that I feel the need to update and share the finer details. If you don't want to read on, the short version is this: Mavis negligently caused thousands in damage to my vehicle and tried every backhanded trick in the book to avoid paying out. 1. If you are not knowledgeable about cars, this store will attempt to upsell unnecessary work and convince you that it is essential. I came into this store looking for brake pads and was all-but-coerced into $1000 of work. Is that partially my fault for not seeking a second opinion? Sure. Does it change the fact that they ripped me off? No. 2. During my visit, Mavis took six hours to do a job that ordinarily requires two. 3. While doing this job (struts and shocks), Mavis mechanics negligently used improper tools and methods causing a great deal of damage to my vehicle. This was later confirmed by another store. 4. When returning my vehicle to me, it made a comically alarming noise from the area they repaired. I demanded a ride-along and they sent a front desk staff member who attempted to gaslight me into believing that the noise was to be expected. I demanded a second ride along with the mechanic who did the work. He lied directly to my face - knowing that he had broken parts in my vehicle - and doubled down on the car being perfectly fine. In fact, my steering assembly was not intact and it was extremely dangerous for me to drive that vehicle. 5. I took the vehicle directly to the local dealership who immediately found the damages. They could even identify the incorrect tool (pickle fork) that they had used to cause some of the damage. They promptly repaired my vehicle and gave me documentation to pass to Mavis. 6. I reached out to Mavis with the documentation and they promised to reach out after completing an investigation. I waited two weeks with no response before reaching out for an update. They claimed that the regional manager attempted to call me a few days afterward and had left a voicemail. I have no missed calls or voicemails for that date. I suspect that this was an attempt to stall past the dispute deadline for my credit card. 7. After getting in touch with the regional manager on a Wednesday, he took down my story and told me he would call me back at lunch or Thursday morning. He did neither. 8. I emailed customer service on Friday asking if he would be returning my call. They verified that they had just spoken to him and a call would be forthcoming. Never came. 9. I emailed them again the following Monday morning explaining that I was either going to get a call that day or escalate the matter. They emailed back the standard, lifeless "your concerns are being taken seriously" script and once again stated that the regional manager would call me. Never came. 10. End-of-Day Monday, I send another email asking if there would be a call and demanding a higher supervisor if not. They immediately had a customer service agent call me who explained that he had no update for me, but had simply been told to call and repeat the same lifeless script. 11. I demanded that the matter be escalated to the regional manager's supervisor. Magically, associates of the regional manager suddenly have time to reach out and discuss the matter. 12. I received a call from such an associate. I was promised that I could go to the Mavis store and be immediately reimbursed for the small portion of damage they agreed to make right. Naturally, all I had to do was wait for the agent to contact the store, confirm, and call back. Never came. 13. I received another call from a new agent who contradicted the previous fellow and insisted that I take a check and that stores never pay out directly. It took them a week to mail it out and another two to arrive. The time between Mavis destroying my steering assembly and them actually reimbursing me summed to over a month and a half. They managed to weasel out of paying for the most expensive damages and I don't have the resources for court, so I'm still down thousands of dollars from this nightmare. In conclusion, this shop upsold me on unnecessary work, knowingly damaged my vehicle, then tried to play every trick in the book to push me off and not correct their mistake. I spent a week without a working vehicle, emptied a large portion of my savings, and went through a great deal of stress to even get basic contact back from their customer service.

My friend worked there for three years and not only did they screw her in the service department INTENTIONALLY misdiagnosing her car as needing THOUSANDS in repairs, they terminated her employment and her health insurance benefits even though she was one of the top salespeople every single month and had zero issues until she had to report her manager to HR for buying illegal drugs at work, abuse, retaliation, etc. Instead of doing the right thing, they tried to offer her a very small amount of "Gag money" hoping she would be desperate enough to take it especially now that they had forced her into two car payments and she's a type 1 diabetic single mother of 3 - they really thought she would give up her rights to even SPEAK of what they have done to her because they offered her 1/8th of her salary for "severance pay." She's told me some horror stories of service screwing people because it's "their job and they're told to leave their integrity at the door," of salespeople and finance trying to screw little old ladies out of money, things that would just blow your mind. If they can treat someone that made them a ton of money this way, how will they treat you? Think about it. When she can speak out, she intends to. Newspaper, evening news, this is a story to be told and unless they significantly increase their offer, she's going to move forward with a lawsuit and keep her rights to speak! As a side note, because of the stress she's currently been admitted to the hospital going on day 3 and found out that the hospital benefit they took out of her last check won't pay out because they specifically called the company and told them to terminate it on 5/3. She will have to file an appeal. They also took out hundreds of dollars for a rental they claimed she had up to the morning they terminated her although she was forced to buy another car at the end of the previous month. So they one hundred percent falsified documents to steal from her. Doctors are telling her the infection she's fighting has only gotten worse because of the stress. They knew she was battling a serious health issue and she had just submitted FMLA paperwork, but before the deadline, they wrongfully and illegally terminated her employment. Think about this next time you even consider taking your car to Modern for service or buying a car from there. They don't care about people. Only MONEY.
