When trying to diagnose an issue on my 4 runner, I inadvertently caused a few dash lights to come one, and the 4 wheel to not work... I took it to a Toyota dealer (not Roanoke dealer) whom diagnosed as "Failed Power Brake Booster"...not only was the repair quote huge, I didn't agree with the diagnoses. I declined and took the vehicle to an Independent shop, after a week, the shop called and said they cant find the problem, "You'll need to go to a Toyota dealer" I learned of Wayne's Import Automotive, called and spoke with Darrel who listened carefully and said "I think we can fix it"... I drop of the vehicle and a day later I receive a call saying your car is ready! It was discovered that a fuse was in the wrong location. I was aware of a broken tail light wire and side marker not working but I hadn't mentioned this....he caught the issues and repaired anyway. My 4 runner is back in perfect working order! Rude mechanic Very poor customer service I had routine maintenance done on my vehicle and the power steering pump was sucking air when my vehicle was returned. I returned the vehicle to them to fix the p try oblea and I was told there was no noise. They fixed the issue but they were sure to repeatedly tell me there was no noise. I'm not sure why you would tell a customer over and over that there was no noise when all you did was pull the vehicle into the garage. I guess making the customer seem wrong makes up for your repair mistake? There are plenty of places that could use your business. No need to pay for this place's ego. read more

I was in a real bind - my imported Toyota Hiace van hit some debris on the interstate and punctured the transmission pan. What do I do?!?!? Called they guys at Waynes thinking they would put me to back of line 2 weeks out. Instead, they got me in, assessed the damage, drove us to the hotel, need I say more. I recently bought a home in Roanoke. Upon arriving, having transported my wife's car across country on a U-Haul, we noted a squealing sound. We had also long been aware of a squeaking noise coming from the rear end. I suspect a loose belt on the first problem and a bushing problem on the second. I took a chance on Wayne's and was delighted with the service. They called me with a quote once they'd assessed my car's problems. The fixes were minor and they completed them quickly. I was delighted with the fact that they were able to service my car on the same day I called. They also gave me a ride to and from my house. Polite people. Honest people. I did have to get a fairly major service on my A/C recently, and though it was a complex repair, their price was reasonable and it was done in a day. They are fair in their assessments, sound in their advice, and very dependable in both the estimates as well as the work required. Example: my wife's 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser had an issue with the CV boots leaking. Usually this means replacement of the entire inner axle assembly which is $$$. On more than one occasion, a vehicle has gone in for something, something was fixed, then the following day the starter motor was shot, and a new one needed to be added. Starter motors do wear out, but the fact that I know of more than a few occasions that this has happened leads me to believe that something else is going on. When I expressed this to a higher level employee, he responded, "You're not getting off that easy." A lot of mechanics in town, customers of nearly two years that have recommended their service to others deserve to be treated with an ounce more respect than that. read more

Can't say enough good things about my experience with the crew at Wayne's. Despite always getting the spiel from my BMW mechanics to avoid the "mom & pop" shops, which there are obviously legitimate reasons for doing so, this ain't the "mom & pop" shop you gotta worry about. After reading the glowing reviews from this place and talking with Kenneth (and looking at my bank balance), I decided to give them my business, and I am very pleased that I did. Gave em the car with a check engine and a front right headlight out, and Kenneth gave me a complete diagnosis of the car and its condition. He noted that it wasn't a bulb issue with the headlights, he narrowed it down to two potential problems, and instead of taking the whole car apart to figure out what the specific problem just for me to leave and potentially not have them fix anything (based on my departure time and time to order parts), he allowed me to assess it with my mechanic back home. After such a great experience, I decided to continue to give em my business and let em perform the repair when I came back. Although the nature of my repair was expensive, Kenneth and the team did a good job of making it as affordable as they could for me, and he also explained every step they went through in getting the repair done. Complete transparency. Not to mention, all of their analysis corroborated with my buddy who was a BMW mechanic for several years. We're traveling from out of state and were dismayed to find our headlight had burned out. We checked Yelp and found Wayne's Automotive. I called them at 8:10 and described my problem. By 8:30 they had our car in the shop. By 8:35 we were on our way! I would highly recommend this shop for efficiency, honesty (I explained that I probably needed the entire (pricey) light unit since the main lamplight was burned out.
