As a courtesy they check the battery at the time of service, but failed to secure the hood, causing the hood to fly open while driving down the highway. I thought wow what a mistake. Mistakes happen! I gave them another shot. Some might say why ago back. Well I've had some good work done and thought I could trust them. So here's another instance. I had a tire replaced. They didn't tighten the lug nuts. The tire fell off while driving, damaging my drive shaft. Wow! That's crap. I said I'll never go back! I bought a new vehicle (almost a year later). It needed a tune up. Easy stuff. They did it great, but when I got it back it was sounding terrible! So I took it back the next morning, they assured me they would fix the problem. It sat all day before someone called and told me the tech went home sometime in the morning, they called me at 3:30 pm to tell me no one would work on the truck until the following week. I said no that was the last straw and I picked it up. I drove it up the street to a different mechanic who then fixed the issue and called to ask me if I knew that there was no oil? This was a shock to me because I had just had an oil change just three days prior from a reputable mechanic shop. I cant be for sure when I say this but I believe Firestone drained my oil before asking me if I wanted to change it, when I told them no, I believe they refused to refill the truck. Some serious damage could have happened! Not only to my truck while I was driving but to my children are at driving age now and they could have experienced something terrible has this lack of oil gone unnoticed any longer. I don't recommend them to anyone let alone a female. It seems they have repeatedly taken advantage of me. I've tried to take legal action but that fell to pieces because Firestone didn't label the paperwork with proper location of the vehicle. Meaning, when I tried to get a lawyer over the tire situation in the drive shaft situation. The lawyer said if I can provide paperwork stating which tire they worked on I might have a case. When I provided the paperwork that was provided to me from Firestone. There was a lack of detail. Firestone stated that the front tire has been replaced. Instead of the front right tire, and the nameor brand of the tire used. read more

My daughter went in to have a diagnostic and oil change. Car drove fine upon arrival; she just wanted peace of mind because she is taking a trip soon. When she went to pick up the car it no longer starts and needs tons of work, transmission trashed. We are having it towed away to another shop to see what they did to the car. Do not use them. I brought in my vehicle for a brake job at the Tanglewood location to have my brakes services. I dropped my vehicle off at 10:45 am. At about 4:30pm I called to get a status of the repairs and it was than that they realized that THEY FORGOT MY CAR WAS THERE. An hour later they called me back and said they could repair the care the next day. I was without a car for over 7 hours!! All the time thinking it was being serviced. NEVER go here for an annual inspection. I can't speak for any of the other services provided at this Firestone, but NEVER go here for an annual inspection. Brought my 2007 Honda Civic in and they failed me for a broken front headlight, said it would be $500 to replace. Also told me the front lower control arm needed new bushings, but would have to replace the entire control arm to get those done, for $900. I'm not really a car person, so I googled all of that while on the phone with them, took the rejection sticker, then picked up the car and went home planning to buy and install a new headlight myself for $150 and get it reinspected. Glad I did: headlight is fully intact and functional. Brought my car back to Firestone and asked them to show me where the headlight was broken. Attached picture shows what they pointed to--a gap between the fender and headlight assembly where you can see the back side of the headlight peaking out. State inspection guidelines do say you fail if "turn signal lens is not clear or amber to the front" but when I asked how replacing the headlight would resolve an issue caused by dented panels, they said "we don't do body work." I'll be getting a new inspection done literally anywhere else. It'd be a pain the neck but, if it comes to it, I can replace the fender and brackets myself (maybe $500). Other reviews on Google, Yelp, Facebook and Yellow Pages talk about a scam with bushings, so I'll get that checked elsewhere, too. In case it helps anyone else, the technician who did the inspection was Jeff and the service advisor was Ian. At best, this is incompetence and really bad customer service. At worst, it's a scam. read more

My car started having a really loud noise and we pulled over knowing we had bad breaks in the front around 10/10:30am. We stopped in to get a quote since we didn't want to risk the noise getting worse or causing more damage. Asked a quote for new break pads, rotators and calibrators for the front. The First quote came to 1200, after calling some family members and friends who knew more about cars, we so happen to mention we got the back fully replaced not to long ago with all the same work for just over 800 and the shop then requoted us for 1099. We then decided to just do the break pads, and rotators for the time being to get us home and save some money, getting us down to about 800 dollars. After the shop started looking over the car and doing some work we got a call back around 1pm letting us know about more parts they suggested us in replacing while mentioning the calibration looks fine. We deny again for any extra work to be done and explain our price range we have to work with. The shop then proceeds to quote us again but this time just for a little less. Now 4pm our car is not ready when it should have been " done shortly " after the last phone call around 1pm. We've been sitting in the shop going on two hours since expecting it to be ready to go without any update to be heard. I understand more than the breaks are being replaced but going on 6 hours now is absurd for tire work/break work. Especially for only half a car ( front end tires) When first speaking with the gentleman behind the front desk we felt like we were being played, the price has almost dropped double the more we voice ourselves and our concerns, the time management is terrible, and the overall interactions were alarming. Definitely a shop trying to just earn their money anyway possible. . . Finally out at 4:30. Definitely saved us some money, but took all day. Uncomfortable that we saved over half the estimation, wondering if we didn't question the price if we still would have paid it. read more

Took my car in for a State Vehicle Inspection and they blatantly tried to scam me. In addition to saying that my "front lower control arms" needed replacement (which they said was a $1,000 repair when I could find it online for $50), they said, "Your tires pass inspection, but the tread is getting thin so we're recommending you get new ones". They then said, "We will not be giving you a passing inspection if you don't make these repairs". The whole experience felt less like a state inspection and more like a shakedown for every penny I had, saying that the recommended repairs would cost $2,100! Afterwards, I scheduled another Vehicle Inspection with a different auto shop, and they said everything passed! Not a word about a $1,000 "control arm" issue or "recommended new tires". I'm glad I only lost $20 to Firestone and not $2,100. If you live around Roanoke, go to a different auto shop. These guys only care about taking your money. read more

asked to get my oil changed. Then was told I needed 4 new tires. Went and checked and only my front 2 were bad. Very next day back drivers side tire Had a brand new nail in it. Which led to a flat Tire and a week later the back passenger tire started losing air and eventually went flat. I had no prior issues with my back tires. Do not trust these guys. They are scum and will screw you over and cause more problems. If I could leave negative stars I would. They're lucky I'm not pressing charges. Turned out the same thing happened to my friends car a couple months prior. Flat tire with a brand new nail in it. And the check engine light came on after their work. I got in my vehicle this morning only to be alerted that my left side back tire's air pressure was dangerously low. I tried to get the cap off at the gas station and couldn't. My husband insisted that if it wasn't flat, drive it to the nearest shop to see what they could do. Since I work downtown, Firestone is the one! Driving there, my pressure was down to 8. When I got there, a feeling of dread brushed over me. Not only were they incredibly busy, there was only one parking spot left. I went inside with 4 other customers ahead of me. I realized that I would probably have to leave it there overnight, walk back to work, possibly being rained on, and wait for my disabled husband come pick me up. Boy was I completely wrong, not only did I get seen relatively quickly, the nice gentleman got the cap off and filled my tire with air. On top of that, he insisted that I don't owe them anything. In an age where everything has a cost, it was so refreshing that they aren't taking advantage of a potential customer. Who does this anymore? I was in and out in less time than it would have been to go out and get lunch. I think that I have found my new repair shop. Your customer service did not go unrecognized. Do not take your car here for safety inspection! You could take a brand new car off the lot, drive it a couple of weeks, and they'd still find $1,000 of repairs. I took a truck in for inspection last year and they called me with $1,700 worth of "required" suspension repairs. I ended up doing all of their items myself in my garage in a few hours + $150 parts. Most of the parts they had rejected were in decent shape. Fast forward to this month. Because of its convenient location to downtown, I made the mistake of taking another vehicle to Firestone for inspection, in near-perfect condition. They claimed that two control arm bushings had "failed" and offered to fix everything for just under $1,000 (which also included a tune-up). I asked the manager to show me the failed parts on the car, but was told "the mechanic has already gone home for the day". I took the control arms off myself to replace the bushings, only to find that the parts were still in good condition. I think they take a lot of liberty in rejecting "worn" suspension parts, figuring that most customers won't bother to actually look for themselves. I get it that they can't break even on a $15 safety inspection, but inventing unneeded repairs is not the answer. If you go to Firestone, stick with tires only. read more

They put the wrong lug nut back on my front left tire. I do all of my own car work and immediately after I got my car inspected here my front left CV axle started clicking. EDIT: So after buying a CV axle I discovered that the mechanic here over-torqued or cross threaded the hell out of a lug stud and nut last month during inspection. My wheel has been gradually becoming more and more loose hence why I thought a CV axle was progressively going bad. The clicking was the wheel at low speeds rotating on the hub. He knew the lug stud got messed up and left an open half-inch nut on to make it easier for me to replace the stud. It cost me $7.50 plus a quarter tank of gas to repair this. At THEIR cost this shouldn't have been $5 to own up to. read more

I was in town for a wedding and have trouble with my car on the way to Roanoke. I was staying at a hotel in Downtown and didn't know the area. I needed someone to look at my car to make sure it was safe enough to drive back home and at the last minute. One call at 7am on a Saturday, and Firestone agreed to look at my car for me. They evaluated my car and recommended a repair that would make it safe to drive. They also outlined in writing what the issue was and what future service was needed for me to take home to my usual mechanic. They did all this on a Saturday so I could have my car back safely and still make it to the wedding on time. I greatly appreciated their quick response and thorough and friendly service. read more

I used to feel I could trust them when they told me something needed to be repaired, now no matter what, they always "find" something wrong. Took my car in for inspection. Had taken all my cars there for the last several years no problems. However last week took car in for inspection...met with a newer service manager I had not met before. Got a call two hours later saying I needed new control arms on both sides and new rear brakes. This would need to be done to pass inspection. Got a quote for $750! Should have taken it to Groves Automotive but was stressed for time and needed car back. So I ......my fault....let them do the repairs. Yes control arms needed replacement...the biggest gripe I had was the price of parts. They charged m2 $260 for the two control arms. I could have gotten a pair for $65 online. They also wanted to charge me $45 for labor to change out a small fog light. They did however lower the cost to $15 after I complained. Biggest gripe with this business was parts pricing. Will not take my car there again or any of the other cars I own. They should not be gouging their good customers with ridiculous parts pricing! read more
