I hired WB Dickenson to swap out a 15 year old water heater. The tank was located in the corner of the kitchen surrounded by cabinets. The plumbers took one look and thought how we gonna get this thing out of here. They called the owner of the company "DJ" who came to my home and removed cabinets, flooring and the fridge to allow the guys room to swap it out. When the new tank was installed another guy "G" was called who is a carpenter re installed the cabinets, flooring, trim and fridge. My kitchen looks as if it was never touched. Thank you very much WD Dickenson for going above and beyond to get the job done, you guys are amazing. Top notch company if anyone is in need of a plumber. read more

We had our master bathroom completely remodeled - down to the studs. That included taking out a difficult spa tub, rebuilding the floor, tearing down a shower - everything gone. In its place is a beautiful walk-in-shower, new upper & lower cabinets where the old shower was, new vanity, new lighting, beautiful porcelain floor tile, bidet seat for the toilet, they even stripped the popcorn ceiling and repainted it. The bathroom took time - with snow storms causing a minor delay, a long freeze requiring their plumbers to address other customer's emergencies - but it is gorgeous! We love our new master bathroom. Additionally, every carpenter, plumber & electrician that worked on the bathroom were gentlemen - friendly, accommodating and precise in their responsibilities and work done. Called their office Monday morning regarding a slow filling toilet. Was told that they would arrive Monday afternoon. They did not arrive. Called the office again on Tuesday and was told that they would arrive Wednesday. They did not arrive. Thursday, they arrived without notice around 3:30. The plumber who was difficult to understand said that it was plumbed incorrectly and he would have to re-pipe in the basement and that it was too late to do that day so he would have to come back another day. Since this has been working for over 80 years, I felt that the more likely scenario was an issue with the mechanism within the tank. At around 4pm, the same person/receptionist that I had spoken with, called and asked for payment of $165 dollars. I provided the credit card and made the payment. I explained that although I am not a plumber, I wanted to better understand the problem prior to paying and additional $500. She said that she understood my concerns and would have someone call me Friday. Of course I was not called. They demonstrated urgency in securing payment for the call fee and half-hour minimum, however, their performance in meeting agreed-upon obligations was lacking. read more

We had a tub to walk in shower conversion done late May. I've waited just to make sure everything would be still meeting our expectations. TJ came out to do our eval and give us an estimate, after a few changes we agreed to go with the company. Mike was our remodeler. Awesome guy, very down to earth always took time to answer a question or just keep us updated on the progress. Mike was also very good respecting our home. Over the four days Mike had a couple helpers here and there, all the guys were friendly and easy to talk to. The new walk in met all our expectations as my Wife is a Cancer patient and made it easier for her. WB Dickensen used good name brand materials and I especially loved the way they laid a concrete base to sturdy the flooring. The plumber needed to make some new connections in the basement that required some cutting of existing pipe and wood frame but before he did anything he took time to explain it to me and actually ask if it would be ok if he made the changes. I was impressed he just didn't cut up my house. Overall, we were very happy with the service we received and the help with the overall cost of the job, TJ was very easy to work with and very informative through out the project. read more

Sadly, I'm not able to recommend WB Dickenson anymore. They do NOT stand behind their work! Yes, the kitchen is lovely but we have a major problem with the kitchen floor tile. Either the porceline tiles are defective or something happened when the floor was installed or a combination of the two. Slowly, over a few months, the white tiles became grey and cloudy looking and no amount of mopping and cleaning could get it clean. It looks terrible. I brought this to TJ's attention. He came out to look at it, he brought in the owner of Universal Tile to look at it and then had the floor professionally cleaned. Some of the grayness was removed but not all of it and within 24/48 hours it all started coming back. The floor should be white but it's not, it's an ugly mottled grey. It's disgusting. Also, he blames me! He thinks that I put "something" on the floor that degraded the glaze. I did NOT ruin the floor. Something else is wrong and TJ will not stand behind the job. It's so unfortunate that this is happening because up until now, we had a great working relationship and it pains me to be forced to call in Consumer Protection. I will have to contact other government sources, too. This should not be happening. I am beyond disappointed. People need to stand behind their work. read more

My outside faucet was leaking and I thought it would be a quick fix. Not!! When I attempted to take the faucet handle off, I found out it was connected to a long water pipe going into the house. I called WB Dickenson, requested Les, ( who previously had done work for me), and Les quickly diagnosed the problem, and quickly and efficiently cut the water pipe, and soldered a new pipe to the outside faucet. One of the Jacuzzi jets on our 3 year old tub blew a seal and leaked 40 gallons of water. We called our the plumber that worked on the house while it was being built, WB Dickenson, to come and fix the problem. Upon inspection and because it was a jet that went, the repairman from WB Dickenson said the job was beyond his capability and that a professional, certified Jacuzzi repair person would be needed. I liked the honesty of the repairman. I called the Jacuzzi company, and they recommended the same repair company that WB Dickenson did - Dan's ReNewal. I contacted Dan's ReNewal and scheduled an appointment. Dan arrived on time, and completed the work in 1 1/2 hours. One of the things Dan had to do was cut the plumbing pipes to lift the entire tub out of place to do the repair. After fixing the leak Dan said the tub would have to sit for 24 hours for the sealant to cure on the pipes. Dan said I would need to call a plumber to re-install the tub. So I called WB Dickenson the next day. They arrived at the appointment time and re-installed my Jacuzzi tub in just over 1 hour. I was impressed with WB Dickenson's professionalism, and the fact they had the repair parts with them! By fixing the tub verse replacing it I saved at least $2000. Thank you WB Dickenson! The man that came out to "fix" the problem with our boiler seemed knowledgeable enough, however his expertise were not required as all he had to do was shut off the power and turn it back on. This small "fix" cost us $190.00. They charge $130 for the service call, and $30 for each additional 15-minute increment. He really only "worked" in the basement for about 15 minutes, but charged us for 30 minutes. The only reassuring portion of his visit was that if the problem occurs again, he'll come back without charging the service fee. read more

We hired WB Dickenson to remodel our main bathroom. After meeting with 6 different contractors, we settled with WB Dickenson because we felt very comfortable with them. We met with the general manager TJ, and he did a fantastic job meeting with us 2x outside his regular work hours. They worked through a very hot/humid week and did a great job of keeping our home clean and picked up--all the while we had our 2 babies in the house. We first contacted WB Dickenson due to our shower leaking. Another company had told us that the entire shower needed to be replaced so we called WB Dickenson for an estimate. Their estimate was lower so we went with them. TJ showed up with two other guys ready to do a $4000 job. Instead he said he suspected he could fix the problem without a major remodel. We ended up paying $250 (mostly for the time spent by three guys). Thanks to TJ's honesty, he's got a customer for life. A few years back he replaced our 40+ year old heater/hot water unit. I had used them for a small repair job in my condo a few years ago, so when I bought a house and needed a new bathtub before our move, I called them for a quote Two weeks later and still in an empty house, waited for over 2 1/2 hours today before receiving a call saying this dude was not showing up. TJ only goes out to do this on Tuesday and was given a time frame of 2-5 pm. I had explained the urgency of quote over 2 weeks ago as this is preventing our move. How very unprofessional! I was then put on an extended hold while the admin tried to find TJ and listened to their advertising just how wonderful and reliable they are... this was good for a sarcastic chuckle. If he can't even be bothered to honor his set appointments and this is the way they conduct their business, that is their business but will never get mine again. Please do not attempt to do business with this WB Dickenson Plumbing; their business practices are sloppy and completely unethical. I woke up one morning to a plumbing issue. Based on a recommendation, and the fact that they are 11 miles from my house, I called WB Dickenson Plumbing. Their earliest availability was late in the evening. Out of necessity, I made the appointment. As my plumbing issue became worse during the day, I simply couldn't wait for them to get here, so I attempted to fix it myself... and I was successful! So, I called WB Dickenson and canceled the appointment because I didn't need them anymore. Several hours later, they arrived at my house. I told them that I had called earlier and canceled the appointment, so they apologized for the confusion and went on the next appointment on their list. A few weeks later, they sent a bill for their service. I called and explained that since no service was rendered, I didn't think it fair to bill me since I had canceled the appointment six hours before they arrived. They agreed and said I should consider the bill canceled. I think that's a proper outcome and at this point I would recommend them to anyone who asked. A few weeks after that, they sent a second bill! Once again I called but this time they claimed to have no knowledge of canceling the bill and said that if I didn't pay immediately, they would forward my information to their collections company. This was a very uncomfortable conversation that mostly consisted of them threatening me if I didn't pay them via credit card immediately. After the lengthy conversation, I'm upset to say that I caved in and gave them my credit card number over the phone. I feel that this experience speaks volumes about the ethics and business practices of this company. I do NOT recommend them. They appear to be inept at managing their workflow and they are not at all reasonable people. Next time, I'll look at Yelp for reviews because clearly there are better neighborhood plumbers out there. read more

I hired him to replace my garbage disposal, and he strongly recommended me not to buy from Home Depot, but let him get a really good device. He brought the cheapest garbage disposal from Home Depot (on sale for $60 at the time) and charged me $205 for that plus the installation cost. When I compared the serial numbers and confronted him his answer was (I kid you not) that even though it is the same serial number, his garbage disposal has better inside parts, because he bought it from a trusted supplier. Stay away from this guy and save yourself some trouble. read more

Our water heater sprung a slow leak and needed to be repaired. We got quotes for installing a new unit (bought it ourselves), and the cheapest one we found was $500. Called WB Dickenson and they explained that they bill in 15 minute increments. Zach, who was knowledgable and nice, came out and installed the new unit for less than 1/2 the next lowest quote, including parts and labor. Unit works fine and Zach did not leave a mess. My heat pipes froze in the middle of the night on a Saturday a few weeks ago during a cold stretch. I was panicked and started looking up plumbers that offered 24 hour emergency service. WB Dickenson was the ONLY plumber that advertised 24 hour emergency service to actually return my call and come out promptly. (Just goes to show you the bigger outfits that advertise on TV with a catchy jingle are not all they are cracked up to be). Everyone involved was very friendly, helpful, and most of all, fixed my frozen heat pipes to prevent an even bigger disaster. I found them to be very honest and fair. I was kept informed during the entire pipe thawing process. I would definitely use them again, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for plumbing help. read more

Very unprofessional. Came to give me quote to do my kitchen floor and spent 5 minutes at my home. And then told in quote my subfloor was bad when they did even look at it. All they wanted to is scam me and talk down to me and my 79 year old father. They should be ashamed of themselves. Do not hire then to any work. Just so everyone knows I had three other contractors out for floor quote and they said my kitchen floor is thick enough to install vinyl tiles over vinyl floor. Sounds to me company did not want job and didn't care how he acted around potential customer. I will make sure home advisor knows how contractor acted. This is an update. Had building inspector come to home to check floors for new kitchen floor installation. Building inspector stated wood on my floors over 1 inch think and contractor who came to home knew absolutely nothing and did not bother to check floors before giving estimate for work.
