I can not say enough about the staff, they are absolutely amazing. The staff have always returned my calls, know my name when i come in, and i have never had to wait more than 5 min to be seen. David Tom Connor and Sam are super amazing. They all took the time to listen to how I got injured, what my complaints were, where I would feel pain while doing the exercises. If I was in any type of pain while doing an exercise they would think of another way to do it so I could still continue to strengthen the area I needed to. Absolutely amazing team. P.s. It was continuous with 2 hospitalizations during this time. He was hospitalized since Nov 2021 then transferred to this facility on a ventilator. He was very ill, facing one crisis after another on a daily basis. I visited daily- mostly evenings/nights. I observed firsthand how he was treated along with other patients. The respiratory department provided excellent care, the Director Amy always was available for all of my questions, Janice, the Nurse practitioner as well. Her bedside manners were wonderful- she is very caring and thorough. ALL of the Respiratory Techs are great. They worked endlessly to make sure my husband improved and was cared for. This proved to be difficult much of the time as he was very sick. But they always greeted him/us with a smile, they were patient with my questions and they truly cared. They honestly went above and beyond and we are so very grateful. The nurses were also great, they were patient and compassionate. Always willing to help. The CNA's work long hours, were at times short staffed, but they still always provided great care and service. The Physical & Occupational therapists did a great job working with my husband. They were patient and went at his speed. They were successful in getting him to stand and walk. Calli and her staff are wonderful and they really know what they are doing! This facility is not perfect... no place is. The rooms are a bit small but you make it work. The facility is clean, the staff really work hard and my husband says he felt like family were caring for him. It is difficult at times to get through to the nurses, but they are quite busy, sometimes short staffed as are other departments. But I would keep trying and would get through. You can also request an update at the end of each shift which makes it easier to speak to the nurse. We treated all staff the way we would like to be treated and we never had any issues during my husband's lengthy stay. All departments were accessible, they returned calls, they welcomed questions and concerns and they were very helpful. My husband was sad to leave but since he improved greatly, no longer on a ventilator and able to continue recovery at home, we sadly said good bye. Any imperfections this place may have was greatly compensated by all of the wonderful staff- the care and assistance they provided!

(the eggs contains soy) Despite this, she gets served eggs. When she lists cold cereal, she gets served cream of wheat. For dinner, she ordered a cheeseburger and gets served a turkey sandwhich with miracle whip, which contains soy. The nurse was nice enough to go go the kitchen and get her what she ordered and she was given another turkey sandwich, being told that they had nothing else to eat (despite the fact it was an allowable substitute on the menu she submitted.)The kitchen also told her they were unaware of any soy issues, even though she writes in it big letters on the menu she submits it. Also, she keeps copies of all her menus so there is ample evidence that this place doesn't care about what the patients want or need. Stay tuned for what's going to go down tomorrow....I'll keep you all posted. Once again, no response from Courtney, the hospital administrator. He doesn't have the courtesy to talk to me about any issues I have raised. I finally got a call from Heidi the interim administrator. She was very nice and dressed all my concerns. Within a year they had her in a wheelchair, unable to stand and in diapers. The residents are all in wheelchairs and typically sitting outside in flannel pants in 100° weather. My mother was brought to the hospital yesterday, and when Maryland Gardens failed to call us and let us know I called and left a message letting them know that I plan on having that facility shut down before they killed my mother. Keith took it upon himself to call the hospital and to let them know that there was suspected abuse and that we shouldn't be allowed to see our mother unless we went through the Fiduciary. Fortunately, Keiths attempt at sabotaging our visit (after a 4 drive) failed and we were permitted to see her. The Executive Director at Maryland Gardens is immature and should not hold the position he has. I DO NOT recommend placing your family in this facility.

Calvary Healing Center is the place I have chosen to do Detox and residential Rehab twice now…read more(don't take points away from them for my relapse.) It's one of the best if not the best program in Phoenix. Jade is by far the best therapist I have worked with in my 49 years on this planet (33 of which have been spent in therapy of one form or another). The BHTs are all standouts, but Sarah (one of the recent hires), Paris, Louis - who really should be a clinical therapist, and Josh were spectacular. Sarah was particularly delightful to interact with, and bent over backwards to make my time there as comfortable as possible. Most are a little sassy because they too were addicts, but ultimately they are there to give back, and they do. They all have different rule sets which can be a little confusing, and us addicts try to manipulate them any way we can, but they were exceptional in their care. Carol, Mario, and the night nurse, Angie were the standouts at the nursing desk, my care there was amazing during both stints, and this one was better than the last trip, though things have been locked down more than my last "vacation" at Calvary (it is the opposite of a vacation, you are in non-stop programing from 8am until ~9pm if you are doing everything you are supposed to.) This is the place to come if you want to get sober and stay sober. It's not bougie, it doesn't have the best view or the best beds, you won't be petting horses or starring in a pamphlet with an ocean view. You won't have all the nice accouterments some places offer, and it is a pretty strict environment (not having your phone can be particularly jarring for some people.) It's not a luxury resort, but it is a superb place to get your mind off drinking/using and get back to thinking about what matters in your life. It's the place to get things back in order and work on yourself with brilliant supervision. The food is great, but don't come there for the food, it's the program and the fellowship you will develop with the other addicts there trying to get a handle on their own lives you are coming for. It may be the most valuable experience of your life, try to approach it as such, it may save you. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Dr. Halligan who has 0 bedside manner and acts like you have rudely inconvenienced him every time you interact with him (daily when you are in Detox, weekly in Residential) he is a troll who has no business working at this facility. The other doctor is brilliant and delightful to interact with so Halligan is incredibly jarring when you suddenly encounter his blatant disregard for empathy, but you don't have to see him for long and hopefully he will be replaced shortly (if doctor Mwangi could take over his shifts, the world and certainly Calvary would be a better place. Dr. Mwangi is beyond exceptional and I liked his brilliance so much he is now my psychiatrist!). Yes Calvary highlights the pool on their website, no you will not be spending much time in it. This is a class/lecture/therapy heavy program Jade designed to drill sobriety techniques into us addicts with the short time she has with us, the schedule will feel brutal at times, but that is because they are trying to cram as much information at you as possible in the hopes that some of it will stick. If you are ready to do the work to change your life though, this is the place for you. The first time changed my life, I just made a wrong turn in the process and turned into an alcoholic when released to the outside world for too long without engaging in the supervision I had just learned I needed (don't make my mistake, all substances are addictive to us addicts, don't trade one for another and end up doing two stints in Rehab! The second trip will be my last, but I cannot express how life changing this place can be for those of us who no longer can live with the torment of constant abuse and lives crumbling from the wear and tear abuse puts on us. Calvary will help you, all you have to do is show up at their doors, do it for yourself and your family, you are worth it (and they will teach you that.)
