Recently have been here a handful of times and each time this place is good in terms of quality, staff and ease of walking around. The staff seems to be hit or miss, times I have been greeted and they are very attentive with showing me where something I am looking for is where other times when I walk in there isn't one word said to me. Not a huge deal but I like consistency when it comes to friendly staff. The location is pretty huge and the shelves are pretty easy to find because everything is labeled pretty nicely but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to where they are located throughout the store. Prices are reasonable but there have been a few items I have found for slightly cheaper on ebay (including shipping) or other sites that specialize in vinyl records. I like that this place does have a nice amount of cassettes as well but I would like those to be organized a lot more than they currently are. The store is super clean and very well lit and I like that they offer listening parties for some upcoming albums that are very hyped! read more

I've scored some amazing 60s and 70s classics in perfect condition for under $10--and if you're lucky, you might even snag some for just 25 cents! It really is a fun scavenger hunt for those with patience and time to explore. The store is well organized, making it easy to browse and discover hidden gems. Great name for a record store, We Got The Beats. In the 70s and 80s these record stores were in every mall and plaza. Love it here trying to locate that one record from your teen years that you remember playing over and over on those old record players. I just saw Def Leppard in concert so searched for one of there older original albums which I did not find. I did find a new one titled Diamond Star Halos, for $36.99, very expensive, inflation. I spoke with a staff member and said that his store does sell original records although a majority of the 70s and 80s are remastered. During my fun but exhausting search I noticed that they sell old cassette tapes, action figures and band t-shirts. read more

Love We Got The Beats! They organized a meet and greet for Joe Jonas on his album release day and we had so much fun! The workers did their very best to assure everything went smoothly and was well organized. I want to thank them so much for putting it together! On regular days though, they are also fun to visit if you're shopping for records. My brother in law is a collector of them so we visit all the time to see what's new. They offered me 13 cents each for my CDs which were in excellent condition with their cases and covers/album artwork. I saw that many of their CDs were for sale in the $10 range. Said bye-bye and donated them instead. Note that, according to the Salvation Army online Valuation Guide, donating such CD's permits a value for tax purposes of $2-$5 each. read more

Another first visit today was made to this very cool music shop! Store is very spacious and has a enormous selection of cassettes, cds, vinyls and other music related items. Staff is courteous, friendly and professional. Mr. Alan was a great help and assisted me with finding some of favorite rare musical gems. You know they say the sequel isn't as good as the original, but I think We Got the Beats Too might be the exception to the rule. The other day I stopped at their other location and they told me about this location. As much as I liked the last location I had to come here and check out their inventory, so I did- the very next day. I thought their other location had a lot of vinyl, but I hit the lottery with this location. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a really nice employee who asked if I'd been before. Since I hadn't, he walked me through the store showing me the displays and how to read the labeling; what they have are signs above posted on the wall that correspond with the bins facing you. It can be a little confusing at times, but they are in a pretty good order. I will say though, their other location does a better job of keeping things alphabetized, but honestly, I don't know how you'd keep so many records in order. The sheer volume is insane. What I really liked about this location is the amount of new releases. Anything from P!nk, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Bjork, Jay-Z, and more. Like their sister store, they have a huge variety of folk, pop, rock, jazz, rap and r&b. This location has a much wider variety of r&b and rap vinyls which was perfect for me. I went to pay and he asked me if I'd been upstairs. "There's an upstairs?" I asked. Sure enough there was more. Two more rooms full of even more vinyls! 80's, 90's, and even some 00's 12 inch singles. By the time I left, my hands were dirty and dry from combing through all the old vinyls. I didn't want to miss out on that one perfect record, you know? Total music fomo. Pricing here is $3 for unmarked vinyl. Everything else is pretty much is marked with the price. I think both locations are amazing but I gotta give this one the edge. The layout is better since the space is bigger and I personally enjoy the selection here a little more. I'll be back to both, I'll just probably check this one out a little more often. There goes my paycheck. read more

Honestly, this store was a tremendous record store -- I bought a vinyl and two CDs at a reasonable price, and the selection was great. HOWEVER, there was a staff member who was absurdly rude to my friend and I when we stopped here. I get that some businesses still uphold a mask mandate despite the fact that 95% of states and businesses have quit caring, especially for those fully vaccinated. I still respect places that require masks, but the worker here was far too aggressive. My friend and I didn't see the "mask required" sign, so as we were browsing, the worker literally barked at us to wear a mask. No warning or prior mention, and not even in a neutral tone. He legitimately snapped at us unreasonably loud. I told him I was fully vaccinated and didn't have one, but then he again BARKED back that that doesn't matter. Again, I would have been understanding if he presented this at a reasonable tone. I asked him if he were kicking us out because we had no masks. He paused, looked at the $50 worth of sales in my hands, HUFFED, and POUTED HIS WAY to the front of the store to throw masks at us. Absolutely unacceptable behavior and tone. The lady who checked us out was friendly, but this man (don't know his name, but he was counting inventory and had long hair) literally almost made us walk out because he was so rude. I very much wanted to leave a 5 star review, but with aggressive and unfriendly workers like this, it was impossible for me to. read more

They do have the Beats and lots more! In the corner of the Tate's Comics plaza is the slightly hidden second location of Fort Lauderdale's We Got the Beats record store. Old time South Floridians will remember this as the former home of Uncle Sam's music. There is a lot of warm nostalgia knowing that music is being bought and sold again in this location. This is appropriate because a big part of the return of vinyl is the warm nostalgia. The store specializes in a wide variety of new and used LPs. They also sell CDs, cassettes and all sorts of music players and accessories. The crates are stocked with every genre of music and they make a point to avoid the snobbery and judgement of the "High Fidelity" record store clerk stereotype. This location has expanded their movie soundtrack section due to the demand from the pop culture loving clientele of their neighbors. The pricing is pretty fair, especially on used items. You never know what you are going to find because there are "new" used items that are coming into the store all the time through the purchase of customer collections. If you don't find what you are looking for, ask about their special orders because they may be able to track it down for you. read more

I like going in the local vinyl stores, but as an experience, retail person who walks in with money to spend I'm often frustrated at the amount of disorganization. When you enter the store, the staff is generally unfriendly. Nobody greet you which is a cardinal sin in retail. They have a lot of money invested in new vinyl inventory, but most of it is crammed in so tight that you can't see what they have. You'll pull out some just create some room to look but after a little while get frustrated. I also believe that the way they divide some of their categories is faulty since there are people that look through multi categories, like rock, metal, new wave, etc. By separating these, there's a greater chance to miss. Additionally, at the back of the store, there's a lot of used CDs but they're basically piled. There's no way to look through them and I look at it as a lot of money just sitting there. I don't think it would take a lot to get a staff for a week or two to catalog and organize and turn it into money. Well, there's definitely a resurgence in the vinyl business. It's too easy for people like me to just shop online especially when you walk into a retail store with money in your pocket and walk out because you're so frustrated at the shopping experience itself. Fantastic record store with such a friendly staff. Usually in here spending 80-150 bucks a week. They take care of me when I need anything answered or help with anything really. The staff was friendly and wore masks. But I brought back an unopened album that I purchased less than a week ago, and was told I couldn't exchange it because there was a crease in the cover. I didn't challenge him because there is no policy in site and the employee advised me "we don't usually accept returns". There was also no way to prove that the album had said crease when I purchased it. I'm just not understanding how this store advertises "buy, sell, and trade" but doesn't accept exchanges. Was happily greeted my first time walking in. Two seconds after my eye caught "The Notorious B.I.G." And from that point I went digging. I'm a huge Curren$y fan and literally picked up every single vinyl they had of him in seconds while everything was in order. The guy even asked if I wanted him to look up anything and he sure did just that and told me the next release date on another Curren$y vinyl was coming soon. Most definitely a great experience and now my go to vinyl store. read more

I've been collecting records for most of my life and I am so happy that stores like We Got The Beats still exist. First, the store(s) (both locations) have a fantastic selection of new and used vinyl (also CD's and Cassettes). Second, the used vinyl is always nicely priced and in good shape. I've never seen a "wrecked" album there. Third, the staff is always nice and knowledgeable. I love stopping in and saying hi to Amy, who always greats everyone with a hello and a smile. He made my vinyl even more scratched and refused to replace it even though he confirmed he heard skipping and cutting noises. He was rude the second I started speaking to him and blamed everything on my hardware. He should not be a staff member at any location and needs proper training. Literally the best record store by far! They have so much, AND the people are very kind and attentive. Andrew is the best! Honestly, I can't say enough great things about We Got The Beats! Always support local record stores and I've been to many around here and they are my absolute favorite! I've purchased so many records from, Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga, P!NK, The White Stripes, Etc. they have the best and hardest to find things always available! I'm always watching their Instagram posts to see what they have in stock and give them a call right away to pre-save it. Seriously the absolute BEST! read more

I enjoy going to the shop and digging through the records as well as CDs. There is often all kinds of stuff from valuable to not so much, but still desirable - and often in good condition. I'm good for at least a visit or two per month in which I tend to let go of $75 - $150 per visit. The owner and most of the staff are also quite personable. There are two drawbacks however. It seems like this place is starting to make the same fateful mistake as a lot of second-hand shops, especially record stores, as they seem to buy collections for pennies per piece and are now starting to charge either a little more than one of the lower priced copies available on Discogs or around the same or a little more than the only copy available on Discogs, even in cases when the only one available is for the same price as the most expensive for which it has ever sold. This not only leaves no incentive or urgency for the customer to buy here since including shipping it would almost be the same price as any online marketplace, but it makes no sense from a business standpoint. I would think that unless there is a shortage of collections coming in then what would be in the best interest of the business and customer would be to sell an item which, for example,was purchased for .50 cents and consistently sells online for $15 -20 for about $10 in order to make the customer real happy(guaranteed to return and spread the word) as well as to get the 1,900% profit in the register instead of the alternative - sitting on an item for months by asking the same 15 to $18 as online(no deal is no deal). The other drawback is the experience which I and two of my friends had yesterday (record store day) with a girl who was working there. She was not only not friendly and not helpful even upon request, but was confrontational to everyone for absolutely no reason. I arrived around 1 p.m. with two friends, so the crowd had died down quite a bit. Each of us were looking for two or three items but couldn't find anyone to help us so I asked her if she wors there, to which she said "yes." I told her we were looking for several items. After I asked about the first one, to which her reply was pointing to a different area of the store and saying "over there," she turned and walked away from us. Luckily, someone else walked in who seemed to work there, so we went to him. He agreed to look the items up to see if they were in stock, but the girl came over to interject and say "what is out is what we have." (as if everything is in the exact place it was before hundreds of customers walked in and looked at them...and we are supposed to know where to find every release). In other words, she actually stopped him from helping us and shifted us away. A friend of mine went back to the gentleman for help bbecause something that he had said he thinks is in stock seemed not to be there....and she stopped him from helping us, saying "what is out is out, if you don't see it it's gone or we never got it." UNBELIEVABLE She ended up cashing us out, after between the three of us we found only only one item that we were initially looking for because of her refusal to helobus or allow anyone else to. During this process she seemed like we were imposing on her day, huffing and puffing, angrily handling the items we were buying, and talking to us like we were unwanted. My two friends and I agreed that if she is there again on any day we will just turn and walk out without looking at anything, and probably not return. read more
