The sight, smell, and sound of the spa immediately draws you in. After settling in, I had the most amazing Salt Facial at Honolulu Spa & Wellness with the owner. I do not get facials regularly because I tend to leave the salon with sensitive skin that's all blotchy and red from the chemicals that were used. But getting a Salt Facial is so much different! No chemicals were used and the results were amazing. The salt used is a natural antibacterial and antimicrobial agent so my skin was not irritated one bit in the process. I learned this is one of the few places offering this service, so definitely take advantage of them having this service. The procedure started by cleansing my face and neck first. Then the Salt Facial followed with her using a wand that used all natural sea salt resurfacing to prep my skin for the next stages. I thought it was going to hurt for some reason , but it didn't at all and just felt like a deep exfoliation. I then had an aesthetic ultrasound to nourish and increase circulation of my skin, which helped whatever she used to get deeper into my skin. The next step was where I could really feel the treatment doing its job, and that was the LED light therapy! I did that for a couple of minutes and could feel my skin getting its natural glow back. The last part of my experience here was a hydrating face mask that I didn't even know I needed. The whole process felt so fast but gave such great results. My skin feels brighter and tighter, especially around my under-eye and cheeks where I felt like my skin was sagging a bit. I could just feel my skin was softer and had reduced the bumpiness in some areas that were affected by acne in the past. All in all a great experience and a facial I recommend to anyone that wants a natural approach to getting one. Immediately after that visit, Laura emailed me everything we discussed in clear, detailed written form: pre- and post-op instructions, prescriptions to pick up in advance, check-in times, and all logistical details. There was truly no room for confusion. I felt fully prepared weeks before my procedure even took place. On the day of surgery, the care continued to be outstanding. Ana and Char made me feel calm and comfortable from the moment I arrived--everything from letting me choose my music in the operating room to making sure I was warm and at ease. In recovery, my PACU nurse, Tricia, was wonderful. She ensured I was comfortable, monitored my vitals closely, confirmed transportation details, and made the entire recovery process feel smooth and reassuring. Dr. Ching was exceptional throughout the experience. He checked in with me beforehand, answered all of my questions, and during the procedure itself--done under local anesthesia--he calmly walked me through each step and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Today is my first day post-procedure, and I feel completely fine. I didn't even need to take any of the prescribed pain medication. I scheduled an…read moreappointment for a routine skin cancer/body scan and the removal of two small skin tags, but the physician assistant barely addressed my actual concerns. Instead, he speculated--without any medical basis--that my skin tags were a sign of insulin resistance and prediabetes, despite my recent lab work being completely normal. Things only got worse from there. He claimed I had "30 or more" skin tags on my neck--an absurd exaggeration, considering I actually had maybe three small ones. I can only assume this was so he could bill insurance for an unnecessary procedure. He also insisted that I needed to buy a numbing cream because, if I came back, I wouldn't be able to "withstand the pain" of removing them. It felt like nothing more than a scare tactic to push unnecessary products. On top of that, he asked completely irrelevant and inappropriate questions about my marriage and insurance while going on a tangent about politics. Rather than providing competent medical care, most of the appointment felt like a sales pitch for cosmetic treatments. He even claimed to "treat" celiac disease, which is not something that requires treatment beyond a gluten-free diet. Fast forward--I quickly realized I was not in capable hands and made an appointment with Hawaii Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Center to see an actual board-certified dermatologist. The difference was night and day. My new doctor was precise, professional, and efficient. They completed the body scan, easily removed a few skin tags--without pushing unnecessary numbing creams or upselling treatments--and the experience was everything a medical visit should be.
