We have been coming here for several years as a fun hangout for a couple drinks. But they've introduced us to the varieties of olive oil. Now using the different oils to flavor or accent the food is next level. They do popcorn with olive oil instead of butter and it's amazing. My favorite is jalapeño oil for popcorn with a little kick. We've also done some of their wine and cheese tastings. Discovered so many great new wines and that comes from a beer drinker. They are full of knowledge for the beer, wine and olive oils that you can't miss finding something that hits the spot. Highly recommended. read more

So, first impression = bad. Asked about orange wine, my fave, but the fella working rudely said in a terrible tone, yeah we have one but you can only be here if you show me your ID. First of all, people underage barely drink wine, let alone know what orange/skin contact wine is. Second of all, I'll show it obviously. Anyways, we came back 2 days later because we really wanted to try this place on our way back home. The owner's daughter was working, and SHE WAS SO SWEET. One of the best customer service experiences. We got some olive oil samples (lemon & basil) & it was so good w/our bread, we ended up buying the olive oil 5 piece sampler pack. Never been more into olive oil than now. That basil was extremely tasty. Also had my orange wine (amazing flavor + so crisp), plus a drink consisting of sparkling wine w/pear or peach balsamic vinegar???? Surprisingly SO GOOD. I happened to walk by and notice the oil and vinegar selections they have. Danielle immediately greeted me and offered a sample if I would like. I tried the blood orange balsamic and I was sold. $18 bottle. Danielle was lovely and attentive, all while keeping very busy. I hope to come by again. They had gift sets available for 2oz. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar bottles with a little dish for (I believe) $15.95? Super cute. If I didn't have all of my gifts already, I would have purchased them right away. Unsmiling and surly bartender. Pointed to the board twice in response to my questions. I was the only customer and not once did he engage in conversation or checked in to ask how I liked the wines. The white flight I had was perfectly fine. But the service was so unwelcoming, I would never return. Yes, I was there on a Thursday afternoon, so clearly management does not put in the A team at that hour. And if you just want wine with unfriendly service, sure. Go for it. Hole in a wall wine bar with friendly service. My fiancé and I came here around 2 PM on a Saturday. Wine bar is located in OC mix small shop with high top seatings. You can also order cheese from the cheese bar next door and bring it in. We had a couple of red and white wine and they were all delicious! The owner is so knowledgeable and asked what type of wine and notes we liked. Bought a bottle of the Chateau taffard since we liked it so much! Overall solid wine bar with good wine selection. The rapport was NOT there. I came in asking about an olive oil tasting, but I accidentally said "olive tasting." Instead of a simple correction, the short, full-built brunette man (looked like he was in his late 50s) shot back with a sarcastic, "You mean olive OIL tasting?" He went on with a lecture-like rundown about California olives and handed us a few samples, but the whole interaction felt cold, rushed, and honestly a bit condescending. It's hard to enjoy any tasting when the person hosting it makes you feel like you're inconveniencing them just by being there. Overall, the vibe was off from the moment we walked in. We came here for a wine tasting and had a great time. We were able to taste four different wines from various regions. I was especially interested in the reds they introduced from France and Chile. My favorite was the one from Chile. This place is located in a small indoor type retail center. Very nice ambience and display of their wines and olive oils. Definitely worth a try. read more

I took my friend to get a glass of wine here at 4:15. I bragged about the place too. We sit down and the guy there says "we're not serving anymore". They close at 5pm! Absolutely should have looked at the reviews before attempting to go to this place, let alone engage with a worker/possible female owner (short blonde lady with long acrylic nails). My friend and I were meeting up and were looking for a nice place to have some wine and small bites and to catch up. She brought her daughter and we read the sign that said "No one under 21", so we decided to ask if that was at the entire place or just at the bar (which was a mistake), we should've just walked away. The lady was beyond rude and screamed at us from the bar and then proceeded to tell us that we were rude in front of all other patrons. News flash, we were not the ones yelling. From reading the reviews this is not a one off. I would've chalked it up to her having a bad day, but that doesn't seem like the case. Definitely will not be attempting to go back to this place. Obviously cannot speak to the food or wine, but customer service is beyond poor. read more

Myself and a friend came here for happy hour after work. The bar was completely empty. We were greeted by a man, who I believe is the same guy I read not so many great reviews about. He provided us with the wine menu. We ordered wine and he brought us our glasses right away, but never offered or asked if we wanted food. We saw other people order food, so we asked for a menu, but instead he just asked what we were wanting and named a few things. We ordered the charcuterie board, cheese, no meats. It was really good. We enjoyed the wine and charcuterie and liked that it was a quiet place to sit and enjoy. I wish we had been given an actual menu to order off of and our receipt didn't detail what we ordered. I don't like when I can't see an itemized list of what I ordered before I pay. Otherwise, the wine and food were good and we would return again, but I will ask for an itemized receipt next time to make sure we were given happy hour pricing on the wine. read more

Stopped by We Olive and Wine Bar in Costa Mesa for a quick charge and had a fantastic experience. The staff were very attentive and friendly, even 10 minutes before closing time. I enjoyed a glass of their Textbook Cabernet and some complimentary bread with olive oil and vinegar. Not sure if it's always complimentary, but it really hit the spot as I was starving. A little bug had flown into my glass and I asked for a napkin; she did ask me if she wanted me to strain it out but I was able to get it out as it was floating in my wine. We wanted to enjoy our day off by going to this wine bar. We asked a gentleman (older with brown hair) if there was availability. I can't believe how incredibly rude and uncaring he was. We asked if the wines on the board (which there was a chalkboard with wines and another with beer) were available today and he replied crassly "Those are beers." What an idiotic response to a customer when the chalkboard clearly shows wine. I proceeded to ask for a paper menu and he just stood there impatiently tapping his fingers while I was looking at the menu. We decided not to sit down due to this guy's intolerable disrespect. Perhaps he didn't like how we were young or didn't like that we look a specific way since he was talking fine with other people. It was a Saturday at lunch time and they were pretty much empty though. I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all if they closed down since that guy was absolutely horrendous. He deserves to be fired from his job and if he's the owner, then he deserves for his business to struggle. Such a shame since the location is actually really nice. Oh well, I'll stick to Hi-Time for their wine bar. The people there are actually stellar and their wine selection is great. read more

I met a client at We Olive & Wine Bar, it was the perfect place for a business meeting! All of us got wine and cheeses, paired with the wine-- absolutely fantastic. I especially liked the cheese that was coated in jalapeño oil. This is something I would've never tried on my own so it's great to expand my taste buds! The service was fantastic, we felt like we were truly served as they went above and beyond for us. I ended up splurging and getting a bunch of oils and vinegar's for my home and a gift for the Super Bowl party I was attending. Thank you so much for the great experience. I came here with my mom and my baby in the stroller. All I wanted was one glass of rose. The owner screamed with me that they would not allow the stroller inside. I asked nicely why and they told me that I should go to somewhere else. The owner and the girl said I was rude and I should leave. OMGGGGGGG! Went yesterday with a party of 7, the owner was extremely rude! We wanted to taste some olive oil since the one I went to in san juan closed down, and was so happy they had one in soco. But I didn't get to buy or taste because the owner was so rude to us. Even told my cousin she stole a little plate because she put some olive oil in it and brought it to the table for us to try... how was it stolen if we were right there? Came here for a private event and was mildly disappointed. The wines were great and I liked that they had a wide selection but no rose which was a bit weird but ok. But the main issue was that there was no food. Most of us had planned to grab food while enjoying our cheese platter and bottles of wine. We ended up all grabbing sandwiches at the cheese shop next door. Originally we wanted some flatbreads (something substantial for lunch) and was told that it'll take many hours to make them. So all we ended up getting here were the wines and a few orders of the hummus dip. I think even our cheese platter came from the cheese shop but I'm not sure since this was preordered for the event. But I do have to admit that the wines we ordered were delicious as were the hummus dips. read more

But, after stopping by last night, I will never be back. I read a few of the recent reviews and it seems like a consensus that the little dark-haired prick of an owner has an attitude problem. And please, you're not pulling off that black deep-v t-shirt. No problem, I just went to Gelson's and got olive oil and vinegar. William Sonoma, a couple blocks away is another good alternative. Vom Foss in Huntington Beach will get you the same experience without the attitude and Faux Snobbiness of "The OC Mix". First, I started looking at wine and vinegar in the front, where I've gone at least 20 times before, then he directed me and my wife to the other end of the store where his "Resale" section is. I saw a 3 giftset displays and told him that I wanted something like that. He told me that he's closing soon and he doesn't have time to put one together, I thought it was odd because most stores don't close at 6:30, his listed hours on Google are a 7PM close. So, I said I'll just take one of the displays which he refused to sell me, saying they were over 2 years old. Eye roll by me. Clearly frustrated, I told him that I tried coming by on Sunday, and that his hours aren't posted correctly on Google, and he just kept talking over me and insisting they're correct. Well here's proof, if you're smart enough to read the attachment. But, I doubt you are because if you were, you would understand that you won't be in business long if you keep insulting your customers. After his arguing I told him I would never spend another cent at this place, that's when he told me to leave. No $hit $herlock. Like I'm going to stay after I just told you I wouldn't ever buy anything from you ever? I don't know what the hell is wrong with this guy. I did everything I could to try to purchase from him, but he's too lazy and full of himself to be of any assistance. This is possibly the worst retail experience I've ever had in my life. It's a shame. Their products are good, but this guy makes Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi" look like Santa Clause. I'll still purchase from We Olive, just not this one. I would not recommend this place! I was displeased with the customer service. I asked the name whom I was in contact with and she stated "the owner" and I asked again for the names and stated "the owner, Danielle." I would not want to give any money to this place nor the owner based on the respect given. I asked her to turn a game on the TV and to sip wine. She refused because she said she did not want to turn the TV on. Literally said "just don't want to put it on." No other reason other than her lack of assistance and accommodation. I asked her how many people asked for the TV on and 10 she told me - means 10 customers lost. We were three of the ten. We went across the way at The Cheese Shop and got amazing accommodating service unlike the olive place. She lost out on $100 plus bill and $35 tip. We purchased a bottle of wine and cheese from The Cheese Shop. We watched the game on our cell phones at the cheese establishment. Highly recommend getting cheese and wine from The Cheese Shop instead of this place. read more

As an introvert I hate confrontation and usually stay quiet when unpleasant situations occur, but the shorter, full-build, brunette guy who works there is a total rude d***, pardon the language. I have visited this spot a couple of times and never had a bad experience until now. I had scheduled a small meetup of about 10-15 people on a Sunday afternoon, which is not a busy time for this location at all. The guy got very upset and said we had to call in advance and that he couldn't serve everyone. No one was ordering yet, but he was acting extremely agitated for no reason. I was trying to figure out a plan of where to go next, but he literally came out to the patio area where we were hanging out and told us to "clear out". Wow, that was a first...I hope the actual owner realizes how much business he lost that day. I guess they only allow 4 people at a time, and prefer to cater to bougie clientele. Never coming back here again, and definitely putting the word out to the other Meetup organizers about how we were treated. read more
