One of my favorite wine spots in OC! Wine lab is the in camp, parking is a hassle here but valet is available in a pinch. Interior is small and cozy. We come here at least once a month. Our favorite is a set of flight where you guess the region and type of wine. I have yet to get it 100% right but it's always fun to guess. The owners here are friendly and great wine section. Wine was decent, but I refused to try more because of the service. Came here on a Wednesday early evening to catch up with someone and was greeted in a way that was pretty distasteful. He was an asian bartender that was the only one on shift at the time and lets just say I could tell he was projecting some insecurity in his life cause this man came off so rude lol. We tried asking questions to get a better feel for which wines would work best for us and he came off quite dismissive. I even noticed that as other customers came in, he kept chewing with his mouth full of falafel as he greeted them in. I've been in hospitality for almost a decade now and never in my years have I seen such repetitive terrible service within 30 minutes. It's actually impressive lol. Cute little spot to get a glass of wine in the camp. Love stopping by and getting a tasting flight. You tell them what you like and then you get a small flight in little beakers. There's some board games on a table inside, and a cute little outdoor seating by cattail bushes - unfortunately also alongside the road but at least you can people watch the pedestrians going to and from The Lab and The Camp. This is a cute place to catchup with friends, have a quaint little date, or sip wine in silence. The owner (?) was very knowledgeable with the wines offered and described them thoroughly to us non-wine-connoisseurs, but we enjoyed the experience! He was also very genuine and casual which we appreciated. Parking at the Camp and the Lab is atrocious on the weekend - but once you manage, it's one of my favorite places to walk around, study, read and peacefully spend the day. If you do order wine here, make sure you keep your glasses as they charge you $15 for replacing new glasses without letting you know. This place was surprisingly cool. They don't have a TON of options, which I found strange for a wine-forward place, but the options we got we enjoyed. Unfortunately, there was only one person working there who I guess is in charge of also making food (which I don't totally understand?) so service took forever. As a result, we were charged happy hour prices, which was nice. We went here waiting for a table next door for pizza, so for that reason it's definitely worth checking out. They had a movie playing on one of the walls, which was cool. And the vibe itself is cool, the inside has a lot going on and a lot to look at. Heard him being kinda rude to the other people that walked in. This is a cute concept and it's in a good location in the camp in Costa Mesa. I like how the wine tastings are poured in a chest tube to pour into your wine glass. I like that they have happy hour. I don't really like the wine though. If you do a wine flight, the wines are a bit underwhelming and taste a bit flat/ without complexity. First time coming here and it was a cool experience. I came during their happy hour on Saturday which is 12-5pm. Tried one of their "bartendars choice" of wine flight and pinot nior. The wine flight is unique because it comes in a tube shaped glass and it was interesting tasting all the different kinds of wine. After the 2, I ordered a white wine (forgot the name) - it took them a while to pour but once they realized that they offered a red glass of wine on the house. Miraculously I was able to find a parking spot easily. We decided to have a drink at the wine bar before dinner. My friends got Red of the day, and I got cocktail of the day- strawberry margarita. We all agreed the drinks were good, but not like amazing. My cocktail was strong, but barely tasted strawberry. Service was also okay. I've been coming to the Wine Lab in Costa Mesa for years whenever I'm in Orange County and it's become my go to spot for a nice glass of wine & good vibes.
