Ambiance - 4 out of 5 First things first... the ambiance at this place is nice for a quick office gathering. but the seating layout is a bit clunky. It doesn't really allow for big parties to chat without hearing the other tables and vice versa. Food- 2.5 out of 5 This is where the place immediately goes down a couple of notches. The concept of shareable appetizers à la Spanish tapas is appealing and it works. but the lack of freshness of the food we ordered made for a very un-appealing look as soon as the food arrives to your table. I ordered the salmon board. The Cesar salad was drowned in dressing and the salmon was dry and flavorless. The dessert (Basque Cheesecake) was also dry, it tasted like it had been in the freezer (uncovered) and had a stale flavor to it. Service- 4 out of 5 The service staff was courteous and attentive. I gave Postino Park Place in Irvine 3 stars. The location itself is a really nice, clean, and modern restaurant with a great vibe, but the overall experience was definitely a mixed bag. We ordered a bunch of bruschetta to share for the table, and while they were good, they were honestly lacking that real "wow" factor. For my main, I ordered the P.R.E.A.M. bowl and found it to be quite mediocre. It was pretty plain overall, and all of the vegetables inside were extremely undercooked. While the food was average, the service was pretty much zero stars. It was extremely spotty throughout the entire meal, our drinks were never refilled, and to make matters worse, they actually charged us for coffee that never showed up at our table. It's a lovely space with decent light bites, but the food execution fell short and the severe service issues really dragged down the experience. read more

Came here for the first time on a Monday evening, as I was invited by a friend. Have heard of this place before and was excited to try it! The ambiance is dark, but classy, though at times it was a bit difficult to read the menu due to the mood lighting. As for the food, on Mondays and Tuesdays (I believe) you can grab a bottle of wine and get a bruschetta for the low low price of $30! I split one of those with a friend and also tried their tuscano soup and the italian beef dip as well. The apple one is the star, the sweet and spicy goat cheese was amazing, the chefs choice (pear & something I can't remember) was phenomenal, and the prosciutto - how can you even go wrong with prosciutto? OMG Grilled Cheese - Incredibly cheesy and decadent, far beyond a simple, crispy grilled cheese. Steak and Chicken Skewers - Tender, juicy meat served with a zesty, bright Sicilian garlic yogurt. Sweet Potato Wedges - While I usually prefer them fried, these baked wedges were well-seasoned and still delicious. Bruschetta Sampler (unfortunately, my photo turned out blurry, so I deleted it!) Though it's no longer on their menu, this was our favorite dish. We sampled several bruschetta boards: Brie, Apple, and Fig Spread (our top pick); Ricotta, Dates & Pistachio (runner-up); Prosciutto Di Parma, Fig & Mascarpone (third place); and Smoked Salmon & Pesto (still delicious!). They have umbrellas when it's sunny and heaters when it's cold. Their bruschetta boards are my go to item. You can pick 4 different ones on your board for around $20. They cut each slice of bread into 4 strips. The OMG Grilled Cheese was not as cheesy as I hoped it would be. However the tomato soup is delicious. Recent patio experience on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. was not that great. One server didn't stay with us the whole time, so messages were getting miscommunicated within the trio of waiters. The first guy was nice, easy going, and knew his stuff. However, the two other guys looked annoyed that we weren't leaving fast enough because it looked like they were getting the patio tables ready for something as they were putting down the reserved markers on the tables. Well, they didn't tell us before hand, so I'm not sure what they wanted us to do. I made a reservation in advance and put down "birthday" as the special occasion we were celebrating. They did absolutely nothing for the celebration, so I'm at a loss as to why they even ask when I made the reservation. My friend who is vegetarian wanted to sub meat on the sandwich for avocado, and he said they can't do that. That's crazy to me. He said different meats can be substituted but not avocado replaced for a meat. I hope they change that "rule" soon. Not sure why any person would pay full price for a meal when the expensive part of the dish is taken out and can't be substituted. The only saving grace at this place were the donut holes. Those are phenomenal and the only reason I added any stars to this restaurant. If I return, it's going to be to take the donuts home as a to-go order. My tuna sandwich was extremely fishy and even tasted like there was bacon fat used in it instead of mayo. The potato leek soup was not good. It was watery and had the leeks extremely limp and overly cooked. I pictured a thicker soup when it mentioned potato--nope. It was a watery mess of a concoction. I think the expression on my face must have been very disdainful because it was nothing like I pictured. The patio faces a parking lot that is partly under construction. Popped in with the girls for a late night dinner, and then came back again. The food was good and there is a full bar, but the girls liked it more than I do. I am (somewhat self) limited on the larger items I eat, partly because of choice and partly because I know there are certain things I don't process well, and the two items I found were moth sandwiches. They were fine, but not great. The chicken would be better if it were not a sliced breast and it was instead something made in house. I'll go back and see what else I can find, but for me, the menu is limiting. And the cocktails are expensive for the pour. Came here for dinner tonight with our 4 year old and the service was amazing! Alejandro took care of us and made great recommendations and made sure to include our little one when ordering. I had the Caesar salad with a chicken skewers and it was delicious. They have a kids menu with two-tone crayons. Wow. This place is a hidden gem for sure - lived right next door since it opened and finally gave it a chance just to realize how amazing it is.
