We requested a master bathroom and kitchen remodel (with load bearing wall removal) and here is my honest review after sitting with it for over a month. Quality and Finished Product: 5 out of 5 Our house had one of those standard beige/white flip house kind of vibes prior to the renovations and we wanted darker aesthetics. Both the bathroom and kitchen once completed came out beautifully. The work was done well and the crews were sure to come fix any knick knack things that came up. I picked fixtures, tile, and countertops with darker aesthetics and sometimes this can be harder to work with because it can show certain imperfections a little clearer especially since we were going from bright white/beige tones. This didn't seem to hinder the quality of the finished product which I was happy about. Cesar who was the contractor was a big help. He always explained to me what the crews were doing each day and let me pick his brain on some design/material choices based on what he'd seen in other house throughout his years working in construction. Overall Planning Process/Communication: 3 of 5 This was the part of the process I found most frustrating. You sit with the project manager and go over your ideas for what you want and tell them your budget. They give you a general idea of what can be done within your budget but I felt like that was it. There were multiple times where we were told something could be done and would find out later from the CREWS that they either weren't told to do something or told not to do something entirely. There seemed to be a disconnect between the project manager and the contractors pretty often which would cause things to be delayed or me and my husband to have to scramble to go get certain materials. You're told what materials you need to provide at the before construction but aren't always told WHEN you need it. Overall for the amount of money we paid we just felt like we were doing a lot of leg work and wouldn't have been able to keep up with it if it wasn't for the fact that I worked from home part of the time. The communication issues added to the stress that you already have during the remodel pHowever the finished product of the work was really nice and came out as we asked. read more

We were looking for a quick patio upgrade to add some concrete and power for a hot tub. Tom met and immediately connected on talking through our wants and needs and explaining the company process and approach. The very next day crews showed up and did demo work. On Tuesday they were installing the concrete and burying the electrical. And by Wednesday the electrician was laying the new lines and hooking everything up to the breaker. 2.5 days and done! We were slightly worried that our turf wouldn't install back into place nicely, but the crew did an amazing job with hiding the conduit and reinstalling the turf like new. Very professional team, and huge shout out to Tom for being communicative and easy to work with on plans and budget! read more

He stated he reached out to all parties involved and made sure to work through the glitches so this does not ever happen again. I appreciated the validation and plan of action. We needed a new roof and from the first time we met with Isaac, we knew we were in good hands. My husband wanted to get three bids and we were leaning toward the second bid, but Isaac convinced us that the quality of work We the People could provide would be far superior and he was absolutely right. The team was professional, organized, and easy to communicate with throughout the entire process. No project is ever easy, but the communication between our project manager Hez, our sales rep Isaac, and Ben, the owner (one of the partners) was truly excellent. They discovered black mold in the master bedroom, but it was successfully remediated. The affected area was thoroughly cleaned, repaired, and repainted. On top of that, we installed solar panels to take advantage of the tax credit. Everything turned out so beautifully that we decided to paint the entire house, add stacked stone accents, and create a stunning sunroom and patio in the back. There were a few issues with some of the crews along the way, but Hez was always on top of everything and made sure any concerns were addressed and resolved immediately. That level of follow-through made a huge difference for us. During the project, my husband unexpectedly needed emergency surgery due to appendicitis. At that time, my focus was completely on him, and I didn't have to worry at all about the work being completed. Hez handled everything seamlessly, and the team even went out of their way to send us a get-well card and dessert, which meant more to us than we can express. We truly feel like family. We came across WTP and, based on their reasonable ratings, decided to give them a try. We had a water leak underneath our kitchen island, we called WTP and they responded quickly and came out the next day. Miguel inspected the area and showed us wet spots and visible mold underneath the sink. He defined the scope of work as: demo the affected area, mold remediation, and repair the leak if it was above the house foundation for the price, he offered us. WTP had us sign a contract and defined the scope of work in few generic sentences -- no breakdown or other specifics. Some of the breakdowns were communicated verbally. They sent a contractor to do demo and it was then determined that the leak was coming from hot water pipe in between the pipe and sleeve which ran underground. That night, I spoke with WTP and was told they would bring a plumber the next day to determine the exact source and based on his recommendations determine next course of actions and cost. I asked whether we would receive a deduction on cost in initial agreement since the leak fix didn't happen as it was coming from underground. I was told no because they claimed they were "not making money at this point" and that the contract listed in scope of work "partial demo" and WTP didn't plan for this much demo by the contractor. This felt unfair because we don't have control of what the subcontractor does and doesn't. The next day, Matt (Miguel's boss), Miguel, and their plumber came. The plumber said he couldn't identify the source and that drilling was required to follow the line. Matt said they would issue a change order with a minimum and maximum cost estimate because it will depend on how much drilling was needed. Once again, the written scope was vague and lacked a breakdown -- such as how many feet of drilling the minimum cost covered. They planned to return the following day to start drilling. Simultaneously, we contacted our insurance company, filed a claim, and explained the situation. The next day, when drilling began, our insurance adjuster called and instructed us to stop all drilling immediately and have their plumber inspect the leak first. We asked WTP to stop. They had only drilled into the concrete under the island and had not yet cut into the tile. When the insurance plumber arrived, he immediately checked whether our home was built with a post-tension foundation -- meaning drilling into the slab is dangerous and could cause the cables to snap, potentially damaging the home and seriously injuring someone. Our insurance plumber then located the leak using proper equipment and located where the pipe and sleeve came up from the foundation which was in kitchen side wall. Plumber explained that, with post-tension foundations, builders use sleeves in the concrete so that if a pipe leaks, a replacement line can be run through the existing sleeve. The entire repair required zero damage to our flooring -- unlike WTP's plan. The same day that our insurance company told us to stop work with WTP, we notified Matt immediately and asked for a detailed closeout invoice. Insurance needed this breakdown for review, reimbursement, and claim documentation. Instead of sending it, Matt and Miguel let 3 weeks go by, during which we only received automated emails asking us to sign a closeout document that contained no breakdown and thus did not sign it. I repeatedly requested the itemized invoice and finally received it three weeks later. Within an hour I submitted it to insurance, called them, and got it pushed to a manager for approval while on the phone with insurance. Right after I hung up -- and before I could call Miguel to let him know it was being approved -- Miguel called me instead. Miguel put Matt on a three-way call. This call was unacceptable. Matt aggressively pressured me to sign closeout agreement and pay immediately, insisting they "couldn't wait for insurance," telling me to pay first and "work with insurance later," and giving me a 48-hour deadline. This was despite the fact that the entire delay was caused by them. An hour after this call, insurance informed me the invoice had been approved and WTP picked up check. I am genuinely disappointed with how we were treated. I question the qualifications of the plumber they brought; we were on the verge of unnecessarily destroying our home's foundation and tiles, potentially injuring someone, and significant cost increase. Their approach did not inspire trust. To put things in to perspective, the mold remediation and leak repair through insurance contractors cost 30% less than WTP's quoted minimum for drilling and mold remediation. I am sure WTP is great because of their past reviews but we are not satisfied with the few individuals at WTP. Maybe we will reconsider them in the future. read more

We met with them after meeting with a few contractors who we knew we weren't going to go with, but the vibes T&T gave off were undeniable: they could do this. And they could do it FAST and RIGHT. In an astonishing two weeks, they converted our widow infested, hot, ugly, crowded garage into a gorgeous, clean, air conditioned space, giving my wife and I not just a place to work, but a place to hang, and be creative. Did they deliver on their promises? Hell yeah they did. Give We The People a ring if you want to KNOW your project is going to cross the finish line. WTP helped rebuild our home and our lives during the most trying time our family had ever experienced. We had just moved into our dream home, only to have it ruined by water damage. The home was completely gutted, and WTP managed to restore all of the features we loved about the house within our budget. Our project manager Jordan was an expert in handling insurance claims and did an amazing helping us work with our adjuster to make sure our claim was handled correctly. Sometimes you need a contractor for a very boring project. After an initial consultation with Jordan at We the People, I decided that an upgraded electrical panel was what my 1923 House needed for its 100th birthday. It's not the most exciting project, but it will allow the house to upgrade to solar, and be able to get an EV charger for the garage. My favorite part is - running the fridge and the AC at the same time without having the lights dim. Heck, I can even get a 50-amp RV plug if I want, and finally get that Hot tub! This was an involved project, and Jordan at We the People handled everything, from pulling the meter spot and permit to the final city inspection; this job was completed in a few days. The electricians were professional, clean, and informative when I had questions. The entire project was stress-free and I can now make the other electrical upgrades that will last hopefully another 100 years! This review is not a reflection of the actual work since I didn't hear back from them but a review of their rep/customer service. Had a rep come over and I showed him the area I want some work on. I left in the area so he can take measurements and come back to me with any questions while I worked in my garage. He came back with a quote that was over 30k above the next highest quote. I honestly feel he shot out that price because he felt I was wasting his time. In fact, he said "if this is too much let me know so I don't waste my time". I responded "if you feel I'm wasting your time then you can leave" but he wanted to continue breaking down the quote. In the end I asked him to email me his breakdown so I can discuss it with my wife after I get all the quotes in which he never sent. Not sure why the negative energy from him but I ended up going with another company. Hope this helps anyone looking into this company in regards to their customer service reps. read more

I provided design plans and David, the representative I met with, came prepared with a proposal, alternatives, and additional options. Aside from the upselling, some of the options discussed made sense (e.g. combining solar with the new build to save on costs and facilitate installation). The overall construction cost was on the high-end and included the structure, rough-ins, and fixture installation (bought separately by me) ... almost 1 1/2 times the cost of two other proposals. (I am painfully aware of the current fluctuating costs of materials/goods.) David was up front about this and did stipulate that WTPC uses high-quality materials (e.g. shingles, flooring, countertop, cabinets etc.) and assured me that a dedicated team would be assigned. In contrast, another quote I received structured the proposal around basic materials (low-end?) but did include rough-ins, basic fixtures,, and installation. Overall, David discussed WTPC's proposal in great detail, explained the process, materials to be used, and asked clarifying questions, while providing examples of the company's work elsewhere. read more

Highly Recommended A very good friend recommended Ben from We The People Construction. I live in an original 1900s Craftsman Airplane Bungalow that hadn't been repainted in 14 years. There was damaged wood and repairs that were done incorrectly over the decades. I wanted everything restored to how the house looked when it was built. Ben visited on October 27, 2022, only a few days after my original call. We went through my list of repairs, which included extensive work to restore the detached garage. He subsequently visited my house for three visits to prepare a detailed estimate. After a few days, Ben visited, and we went over the estimate. This is the fifth Los Angeles vintage house that I've restored, so I knew his estimate was fair and accurate. So much so, frankly, having been through similar projects before, I didn't need to look any further. On November 2, I signed the contract, left a deposit, and started work the following day, Thursday, November 3. There were days of sanding and repairing damaged wood from years of neglect. Ben was the perfect Project Manager for me. He followed up with me every few days to check on the work and my happiness with the progress. All of the workers were pleasant and easy to work with. They were at my house six days a week until everything was completed on November 23. The workers removed the construction debris and cleaned up the property as well. WTP has changed my perspective on trusting a contracting company to do a great job the first time without any hiccups. Mor and Matt were great to work with. We decided to hire this company to replace our electrical panel and rewiring in our home. Brian (the project manager for the electrical) was very helpful, also the young man (we don't remember his name but we believe he was an electrician) was very helpful also. He brought the inspector, permits, and labeled the panel. But overall there needs to be better communication between who we started the contract with and us the customers because there were times where we did not know what was happening, when the inspection was gonna be, and who was going to label the panel. WTP painted the exterior of my house. I was looking the paint the exterior walls of my house after years of neglect. The wood trim was peeling, lots and lots of cracks in the stucco and few areas of the stucco were completely missing. Absolute mess. It got so bad, my HOA threatened to fine because my house wasn't coherent with the rest of the community. Ben did some work on my uncle's house so I requested him to give me a quote. He measured the house, and walked me through the process. The workers came on time, pressure washed the house repaired all the damage wood and the damaged stucco before proceeding to paint the house. I asked WTPC to remodel my kitchen and upgrade the electrical service to 200 amp. Liron provided a verbal estimate and we signed up that night. Demolition started the next day. Many things went smoothly, but the few hiccups that happened were frustrating and stressed me out. Here is my advice: 1. Get a written document of all features and labor you expect. This is really important. 2. Despite what is advertised about daily cleaning, my house was unlivable after the drywall work was done. Gypsum dust got everywhere. I complained but to no avail. 3. Get a clear picture of all the work you are responsible for. I was surprised with the cost of granite, sink, faucet, and kitchen appliances. 4. Keep a very close eye on the quality of the work as the job proceeds. Especially painting and electrical work. The good news is that I'm thrilled with how beautiful it turned out. After talking with Ben at the end of the job I am feeling better about future jobs with WTPC. read more
