This place was a great find. We were a little early for our visit to the Meyer May House and decided to get a coffee and a treat ahead of our appointment. The location in the beautiful Heritage Hill District of Grand Rapids was central to the ambiance of this establishment. The vintage facility and simple decor were quite pleasant. The gentleman waiting on us at the counter was very personable and did a good job. It was late in the day for them as they were within an hour of closing. Hence, they were out of a couple of things we would have otherwise like to have tried. But they still had Pecan Schneckens, a chopped pecan-covered caramel-glazed spiral pastry. We tried this and it was to our liking. I had a Redeye to drink while my wife had a Coconut Creme Iced Latte. We were happy with our respective choices. Our visit to this place was a great diversion before our tour and ended up adding to our experience to this neighborhood. The treat was tasty, the drinks were satisfying and the prices were reasonable. If we have the chance to make a return visit, we will certainly do so. read more

As someone with a gluten allergy, finding baked goods that actually taste and feel "normal" can feel like chasing a unicorn through a flour storm But this blueberry muffin? Absolutely scrumptious. Soft, sweet, delicate, and packed with flavor. The sugary crystals on top were the perfect touch and honestly took the whole thing to another level. And the texture? HUGE win. No dry crumble avalanche. No falling apart after two bites. Just a beautifully made muffin that held together and tasted incredible. Gluten free score for sure. Cute! I've frequented Wealthy Street a few times but this was my first time at the bakery. This review is for pastries only, but Katy C's breakfast & sandwiches review is selling me so I'll have to come back for that. The folks were so friendly and patient while we picked out our goodies: *Lemon Crumb Bar (Bright, house made lemon filling and buttery cookie crust) - this is a monthly special only! and it was LOVELY. It gives more texture than just a lemon bar. It wasn't too sour. L *Townie ( caramelized croissant dough bun filled with brown sugar and tossed in cinnamon sugar) - so I tried to ask if it was like their take on a kouign amann or morning bun to no avail BUT basically yes. I'm still chasing the high of Tartine's Morning buns but lamination is pretty good on this and it's tasty. Great contender for the morning with a latte or coffee for sure. read more

I used to live really close to Wealthy Street Bakery, so I found myself there pretty often. It had been quite awhile (years) since I last stopped in, so Nate and I decided to get a quick breakfast there recently. The person taking our order and getting our pastries was super friendly and patient. We got a raspberry pastry and two breakfast sandwiches--the ham and cheese breakfast croissant sandwich and the bacon, egg, and arugula on ciabatta. Our sandwiches took a little while to come out, but they were super hot and freshly made, which was great. We enjoyed some of the pastry while we waited--it was perfectly flaky and tender and not too sweet. I was so happy with our breakfast! The croissant was perfect and the egg was fluffy and soft, not overcooked at all. The bacon and egg on ciabatta was good. I think I'd prefer it without the sweetness of the carmelized onions, but I added some hot sauce which helped. So glad I stopped by again, and will be back again for some more of their breakfast options. They serve breakfast all day, and they even have alcohol so you can get a mimosa with brunch. read more

My husband and I stopped into Wealthy Street Bakery for a quick lunch and were impressed by the menu options. The staff member was nice. The place had a few tables and most were full but we managed to find a half booth. We shared the Wealthy Club on sourdough, loaded potato soup, a half ham sandwich, half Caesar salad, and a $1 cookie. The bread was the star--fresh and delicious! The potato soup was a bit runny and spicy, and the Caesar salad had great croutons but could've used more Parmesan cheese in my opinion. Overall the food was good, just on the pricey side--our lunch came to $50 without drinks. I did feel that was steep for a quick bite. Parking is mostly paid street parking, with a few nearby spots including a handicap space. read more

Placed an order yesterday to be delivered this morning. First it was delivered to the wrong address where it sat for hours before being discovered. Address on the receipt was correct and all addresses here are very clearly marked. Worse although I was fully charged for the order including a healthy tip half the order was missing. Online it said the entire order was delivered. Obviously, this business needs some improved management and organization to get operations improved significantly. Too bad since they do make some good bakery. They just did it again! I had to reorder the missing items. At added cost so each was double priced. And the morons delivered it to the same wrong address as the first time even though the address on the receipt was correct. Unbelieveable! read more

This sweet and cozy bakery has everything you want from a local eatery. The staff is friendly, the menu is great, and the food and drinks are delicious. The baked goods, especially the ham and Swiss croissant, are freshly made and always hit the spot. There are quite a few tables as well which makes it a nice spot for lunch or to work while you eat. We walked into the restaurant around 5pm. The restaurant was clean and it was there were a few other customers in the shop. We decided to dine in, but it seems like they get a lot of to go orders. Since this was our first visit, I asked the cashier which bread was his favorite and he recommended the sourdough. I'm glad I asked because I really liked it with my chicken salad sandwich. I ordered a half, but it still was a bigger portion than I expected. Even the chicken salad was a bigger portion than I expected. That was nice, especially considering portion sizes at most places are shrinking these days. The bread was perfectly toasted. It had a nice crunch but was still soft enough the chicken salad was good with big chunks of chicken. I'd order it again. But I think there are a few other menu items I want to try. I also got an iced golden hour, which was good. My son got the full sized Monaco sandwich on French bread. He thought it was pretty good, especially the bread. We'll definitely be back. Since this was our first time, I have no way to compare wait time for how long it took for us to get out our food. But it did feel like a really long time (21 minutes) especially since they were just sandwiches. Many people came in and placed orders to go and got their orders before we got our food. The most slept-on pizza joint in GR! While Wealthy Bakery is known and loved in their community for their incredible baked goods, I surely hope that you try their pizza if you have not yet! A thicker, delicious fresh bread crust is a nice change from so many thinner brick-oven type pies in GR. They have excellent topping choices as well- some that are considered more "gourmet" which I appreciate. I love stopping in here once in a while. It is usually just to grab a coffee and a baked good, but all of their items are so yummy. I've never ordered actual food from this location. All of their baked goods are great - you really can't go wrong. The staff is sooooo nice - they even help me pick what to get when I am being incredibly indecisive. Paul did a fine job with my order. The food was good, and my request to have things in the side were honoured. After eating I thought a loaf of the rye bread, the same as was used in my sandwich, to eat later at home and they sliced it as u requested. I don't appreciate the requests for tips for buying a loaf of bread, however, and I have made a self imposed rule: " Tops are offered when one is served adequately". This tipping everyone explosion is getting out of control and whenever I am NOT asked for a tip-and the service is extremely excellent, I may tip up to 40%, even 50%. But when someone hands me a loaf of bread, and then a tip parameter(s) open up in the pay screen asking for 30%-35% and more, I will not only not select a tip-I will refuse to tip anyone after that point. So I give this bakery a 4out of 5 rating on food, and getting my order correct, but double tipping-that's a big: "No Way José" moment coming from my pocket book every time. read more

This is an amazing spot! The food is really good! I had a croissant and a chai latte and both were really good. I have had better croissants but this was still pretty good. Let's start with the 1/2 off banana bread! I love a good sale & this was worth it! It's baked the previous day. The chocolate chip cookie was delish. I also had the Savannah salad - sooo good. This review is for the happy hour pizza....wow just wow! Wealthy Street Bakery most definitely is in my top 5 favorite pizza places in GR! For 1/2 price you get these specialty pies from 3-6pm (double check website I think it changes). You cannot beat that! As of late, this has become a weekly treat for our family. We tried the supreme, mushroom, and margarita. All fresh tasting and I can't get enough of that crust. See, I'm a crusty girl, and a pizza snob overall. I'm not ashamed to say it. The crust is a very important part of your pizza experience, without it you would be eating mush! Their crust is flaky, crispy, and has the right amount of salt. It's thin but not thin crust. Bacon egg and cheddar (Breakfast sandwich on ciabatta): my husband got this and said it was pretty good. Bread a little on the firm/chewy side but overall still delicious. Extra bacon was added to this order GF cinnamon roll: I will admit I was skeptical of it when it first arrived. It felt rock hard just poking it and the container didn't give any instructions about heating. However, I decided to pop it into the microwave for 30 seconds which was the best decision ever and suddenly it was moist, the melted frosting/cinnamon paste was delicious. We purchased a seized deal to try this place since we are new to Grand Rapids. The bakery is located in the heritage Hill neighborhood. Wealthy Street bakery is in an older building. It has been tastefully renovated. We order the 1/2 of sandwich and the cup of soup of the day. Loaded potato soup was delicious. The sandwiches are huge for a half I felt like we could have split it. With an under four-star rating on Yelp, I was hesitant to go to Wealthy Street Bakery. However, the constant flow of customers convinced me to give it a shot. My wife and I went for lunch and found a dining room with many outlets and wifi and an outdoor patio full of happy customers. We ordered the tuna salad sandwich and the braised beef rib sandwich. Both were well made and tasty (way more full of flavor compared to other area restaurants). They came with a large "side" salad. Service was friendly, but it take awhile for our food to come. Go to spot whenever I'm looking for a homemade treat or get my ham and cheese croissant fix!

I placed an online order for a breakfast sandwich and it said it would be ready in 25 minutes. I showed up to get it after the time it was supposed to be ready. The workers said they never approved my order and didn't start it so it would be a 15 minute wait. They never even apologized or offered a refund or even a coffee on the house. When I got a text saying my order was ready I asked for my order and they weren't not in any rush to give me it and still did not apologize for the inconvenience. WSB is everything you want in a trendy, hipster, urban Brooklynesque bakery. The scene is modern and warm all at the same time. My parents swear by this place and were excited for me to try it. Now, I'm excited to go back. Every item is top notch and packed with flavor, BUT the Townies (which run out quick) are a cut above. They're a cinnamony croissant that'll wonder how no one thought of this before. The best thing about WSB is their location/proximity to so many OTHER great places.
