Which I later found out, a barber who knows what they're doing should only use regular scissors for a cut like this because other tools ruin curls. I called the next day to ask for a manager in hopes to get a refund because this mess cost me $50 and supposedly the one who cut my hair was the manager. An even bigger red flag. They said they don't do refunds because the work is already done and I apparently didn't tell him how long I wanted it and "he always asks how long." Which he did not. However I did show him a photo of how long I wanted AND I told him I'd like it to still be long because I wear my hair long. But guess it's my fault somehow. I made an appointment and came at 5:00 PM and was seated around 5:03. The woman who cut my hair had grey hair and was wearing a mask. From the very beginning, I was extremely specific about what I wanted: a low blowout taper with a messy, textured fringe. I told her to keep the back full and longer, not fade it too high, taper only around the temples and neckline, add plenty of texture on top, and most importantly, not take too much length off. I had intentionally grown my hair out for this haircut. I also showed her four different reference photos so there should have been very little confusion about what I was asking for. Every barber I've gone to for this same haircut has taken the time to wet and comb through my hair before cutting so they can see the length, shape, and how everything falls. She did not do that. She immediately started buzzing and cutting my dry hair. Her movements felt rushed, uneven, and all over the place. Within the first few minutes, I reiterated that my hair had been grown out specifically so I could keep a lot of the length and flow. I'm honestly not sure whether she heard me because she didn't respond and just continued cutting. I became nervous enough that I barely wanted to look in the mirror while she was working. Before I knew it, the haircut was finished. I checked the time when I was done: 5:28 PM. I had been seated at approximately 5:03. That is roughly a 25-minute haircut, despite the shop being almost completely empty. The result was way too short, uneven in areas, and completely different from what I described and showed in the reference photos. I specifically wanted to preserve the flow I had grown out, and I lost essentially all of it. What bothered me almost as much as the haircut itself was the lack of effort afterward. She did not even attempt to style my hair and initially left it completely flat. I had already told her at the beginning that I use clay to style my hair. I actually had to ask her to style it with clay. Instead, she got some product and handed it to me so that I could style my own hair. I was then given a hot towel and what was quite literally around a seven-second massage-gun treatment. The entire experience felt rushed from beginning to end. I was only charged $41. I believe the haircut is normally around $50-$55, although I could be mistaken. Considering everything else about the experience, even the reduced price made me wonder whether they knew the haircut had not gone well. I still left a $4 tip despite being extremely disappointed. To be fair, I am not claiming my hair was completely destroyed or that it is beyond repair. But it is absolutely not what I asked for, not what I described, and not what I showed in the reference pictures. I would rate the effort I received at about a 3/10. The only positives I can give are that the staff seemed friendly enough and the shop itself has a cool atmosphere. Unfortunately, that does not make up for a haircut that was rushed and significantly different from what I explicitly requested. I intentionally grew my hair out for this style, and now I have to wait MONTHS that length to grow back because of a haircut I never asked for. Given the result and the experience, I am requesting a full refund.
