I cannot give a better review of Laguna seca. it's my personal getaway in life. the staff is über friendly due to many volunteering out of love for the events. the restrooms are well placed, food options are always many and well healed. the event is such a photographers day if you know how to work the events movement during the day, you can afford yourself one heck of a shooting experience. or enjoy a day of spectating. there's no wrong way to have a killer race day. the general vibe and staff are top notch. the golf cart transportation people are king! they will take you to the cork screw (or anywhere) no probs. I wear vans and was fearing my feet after a full day of hiking, and the carts are the sense of getting around Laguna seca, age regardless. I love you Laguna seca for all that you are. I have my race days filled with visuals and sounds from high performance internal combustion engines that cannot be matched. embrace this before it goes away. long live Laguna seca! we love you! read more

As far as racetracks go, the audience vibe here is great....everyone is so pumped to be a part of a such a GREAT spectator experience. Bring earplugs, a beach chair, a cooler of drinkees(its allowed!), and enjoy! Go to the corkscrew and live it up! Not only is the corkscrew the most exciting area to watch from, it also has trees, shade and best of all the corkscrew area has REAL BATHROOMS at the top of the hill. Whoooo-hooo! read more

Went here for American LeMans series back in September. My first time at Laguna Sega. It was pretty cool. I went cause a woman I know loves car racing... I'm into MotoGP... So car racing really isn't my thing... But I still had a great time. Especially when it gets dark.. Totally cool. I think the food is TOO overpriced. I expected it to be, but not that much. And they need better seating. I mean, not just throw a blanket on the floor either... They should also try having a walk way up the hill. Wouldn't be too hard to slip and fall halfway down the hill. I thought the best spot around was at the corkscrew. You can get really close to the cars! Oh yes... This deserves a line of it's own... Getting out! One lane in each direction. The traffic cops do the best they can... But when you have thousands of vehicles trying to get out... It's going to suck. They HAVE to widen that road. Luckily, I was on my motorcycle and slipped by it all. It took about 10 - 15 minutes to get out vs. the 45 minutes or so for the poor saps in their cars.... read more

Okay by no means I am knowledgeable of car racing (watch F1 but that's it) nor am I a huge fan BUT I like to accompany my husband to his hobby. Today we went to the American Le Mans with grandparents and our 2 years old son. It was sooo much fun! It was fun to see my son having a blast watching the cars passing by in high speed as well as my husband getting excited over his team winning and taking pictures. This is the second time I have actually been to a race and my first time here @Laguna Seca. It is pretty clean and the bathroom situations aren't too bad. They even have a play ground for children! We didn't use it because our son was content just watching the cars. If you chose to bring your children just be well prepared such as earmuffs, snacks, and games as I have seen older children getting pretty bored and wanting to leave. read more

I was a corner worker for the most recent MotoGP event hosted at Laguna Seca. I had never been to this track and as a motorcycle rider I am still dreaming of gracing this track with my modest Yamaha. I was quite surprised how large the whole facility is. There was a special camp set up for corner workers but I did not stay there. I was graciously given rights to an amazing spot that was perched on top of a hill with a gorgeous view of nature as well as turn 6. The camp spots are large but no electrical hookups or running water. Needless to say, I roughed it for 3 days. On day 3, I discovered the showers. UGH, wish I would have found those a few nights back. They were right by our camp! So onto the TRACK. Absolutely AMAZING! The pavment is flawless and looks like glass! Everythings is kept up to perfection. Pricing - YIKES! But here's the deal. The pricing is high but you get what you pay for. The better the track, the more you will pay. I am willing to pay that to ride this track. Can't wait until next season to get the opportunity. Legends have been on this track, now it's my turn! read more

The best place, in my opinion, to watch a race is hiking up the hill...and I mean straight up...none of this taking the easy way out and following the herd up the long route..the quicker you get up there, the better spot you get. The hill puts you right near the action of the corkscrew...as well as giving you a birdseye view of the majority of the track. FYI: There are vendors up there selling food and drinks to help you recover from the steep climb. read more

Laguna Seca, Mazda Raceway.... awesome! This is one great track and it watching the races on this track on TV does not do this place justice. There is so much to each turn and the elevation changes just make it amazing to watch any race here. The grandstand seating are decent and when races are going, there are plenty of Porto-potties around which I noticed where constantly being cleaned... huge plus for them. The place is huge and it's all explorable too. If you want a good view of most all the track, take the short hike up the hill in the middle of it all and throw a blanket down to lay on, bring out your picnic baskets and enjoy the day. Otherwise, buy a grandstand seat and watch things on the big screen. Or just bring out your lawn chair for a seat by the Corkscrew. The place is a recreational site, so you can bike around, bring your dog, or explore the area. Camping is also available during events. I so want to camp out here next time. I got tickets for my husband's birthday for MotoGP weekend. Absolutely amazing! This world class primer motorcycle racing event comes here once a year around late July and travels around the world. We're followers of this and so we went up to Laguna Seca for a different view of things. Makes you appreciate even more the skill these riders have. Things seemed well kept throughout the event, including the paddock area, the areas of the vendors, and the grandstands. There were even people walking through the hillsides picking up any garbage any dummies didn't throw in the trash cans which were placed throughout the venue. Parking was well organized and though there were a lot of cars, the traffic flowed very nicely. Amazing track, amazing weekend... we'll definitely come here again. read more

5-stars just for the one of a kind Corkscrew. You're basically driving blind going uphill until you reach the peak, then you divebomb downwards. If you're not driving, there's various photo-ops around the track, you'll do pleanty of walking here. If you're driving, take it easy, I've seen too many cars hit the wall/tirewall, and one that rolled over its roof on a turn just past the corkscrew. read more

This was a first for my boyfriend and I. We both have a love for motorcycles, so when I heard that there was going to be a MotoGP race on the day after we arrived to the mainland, I knew I had to buy tickets for it. We didn't make it to the previous days events, but at least we made it for the final day. We were stoked either way. We woke up early that morning, excited for the days event and headed out to find the raceway. This was my first time visiting this part of the mainland, and a first for my boyfriend, so we had some trouble working with the Google Maps app to find the place. After a few U-turns and three-point turn arounds, we found the raceway, and boy... was it amazing! Massive hills adorned with gorgeous trees and foliage, and an unforgettable sight of bikes (and cars!), literally THOUSANDS of them all parked along the hillsides. All of the workers were very helpful with answering questions and the track was amazing! There were tons to do and a lot to see, but we were eager to scout some prime spots to see the race. We found such spots in a few locations: Turn 2, Turn 11, the famous Cork Screw, and a little spot right next to the Red Bull bridge. We took a break from watching the race to watch the stunt show, and man it was crazy! these guys are incredible! Very entertaining to see them, and after their last show, we got to take a closer look at their bikes and meet them, too. We didn't really talk to the performers, but we spoke to their crew and geeked out over the specs of their bikes. There were, as I mentioned, a lot to see; many vendors selling all the hottest gear and apparel and showcasing some epic bikes and cars. This was an amazing event, and I know that we'll be back next time! read more

I've been coming to this track since the mid-90's and its always great and fun to see million dollar machine racing one another. This year automobile maker is,who else, Porsche and a lot of great cars were there. old ones and new ones too, even the 4 door Panamera, which in my opinion is a big mistake. It looks like a boat and will not bring Porsche more prestige than they already have!!!! Cost will also be an issue. Talking about cost, $75 to get in on Saturday, ouch that hurts. Is this event becoming for the rich and famous? Come on Mazda, a little more gentle on ticket prices for new year, please? read more

I loved this track; not only is it world famous, but it's also a very pleasant temperature most of the time since it's so close to the ocean. I drove this course with the Hooked On Driving school. Compared to Sonoma Raceway, there are fewer walls, but more than Thunderhill. However, because it's famous, it's much more easier to find simulations of the track in video games, and how well you know the track has a significant effect on how fast you can get through it. This is especially true of the cork-screw: It's a blind turn over a hill, so once you know where to point the car (without being able to see the road), you can get through that particular turn very quickly! Though I said I'd never go back for the MotoGP, time (and an an unexpected pair of tickets) has changed my opinion for the better. Race-Day organization is far smoother than it was the last time I went and the buildings/facilities are coming along. They still could use another couple of bridges (one-way traffic bridges), Monterey county could stand to invest a bit more in their facilities (like putting a wall in front of the sound booth!), but overall getting in/out and around has improved greatly. Huge race track and can be overwhelming for someone like me who's only been to other two tracks and definitely not as HUGE as this one. Been here only once as a spectator during the 2013 MotoGP Racing. I can't review the track since I'm not a rider but only reviewing as a spectator. Please wear shoes and socks! Flip flops are a no no because of all the dust and also there is a lot of walking involved. This is a HUGE place so be ready to walk. The bathrooms were plenty and clean enough. There were many vendors that sold food. I'm not sure if it's the same during track days but I would guess that there's at least a food place open to the public. I mentioned a lot of walking and there is! From where you park to the stadiums. It can be cold in July here which is when I was there - dress in layers! Enjoy and be safe! read more

Awesome track Laguna Seca is. It tests everything that a motorvehicle is, with the exception of top speed as there are no very long straights. I've ridden this track before. It's more impressive as a participant than it is as a spectator. Seating options are many and plenty. Viewing options as well. See lots of the track from one location or choose from myriad close up locations to get close to a piece of the action. The downside? Idiot local residents who decided to move next to a track.......and then complain about the noise. Ummm, hello? Laguna was here first You so rich? Buy some more insulation for your walls whiners. If it weren't for the strict sound limits (thanks to the whiners) imposed upon participants, I'd give it 5 stars. Welll.....and that it is so far from me. I can drive 35-40 minutes and be at Sears Point (Infineon Raceway for the corporate types), unload my Leo Vince equipped bike, and have just as much fun without a 2+ hour drive there and 2+ hour drive home. read more

We visited Laguna Seca with the Porsche Rennsport races. The track is interesting, permitting different views as you wander around, although we never found an area that provided a view of the entire track, and no shaded area at all. There is a distinct lack of eating venues and those existing are laughable. There was a small tent dubbed a "beer garden" consisting of a bratwurst and beer stand with almost no seating, most of which was outside, uncovered, in the hot sun. There is a small "English Garden" venue, with some covered seating at filthy plastic chairs and tables. There were lots of merchandise stands - a very overpriced flea market with $40 hats and $90 polos. All in all pretty pathetic. read more

These people could care less about a good experience eg. no more coverage on AM radio so you can hear what is going on when you are at turn 7, the really cheap/crappy speakers and then playing crappy music during lunch which is overmodulated, the employees or volunters have a really bad attitude and could care less if you have a special need such as a leg injury. Save your time and money and watch the speed channel. I have been going there for more than 30 years and each year has gotten worse but this last weekend pushed me over to the DO NOT ATTEND area. What a shame that the management hands over the customer experience to the lowest bidder. read more

Every year I get anxious when summer approaches. This means I get to see a bunch of cool classic cars driving fast and a bunch of croch rockets sweeping across the track, I get goose bumps all over. I haven't camped out at seca yet, but perhaps this year it will happen. A bunch of tents put out selling various items anywhere from accessories to bikes. I love this place. Motos everywhere. if you bring your bike, you'll have easier access and closer parking. They just started charter bus service in 2007. You park far away now, hop on the bus and it takes you right to the entrance. Convenient!! After the races, this place is typically PACKED. Ofcourse. You may want to chill out for an hour or so before you think about heading back. If there's one single accident the charters and motos are backed up for atleast an hour. Use sunscreen!!!!! Not just at home before you leave. Bring it with you! Have fun! read more

Ohio residents on a three week California camping road trip. We camped two nights here end if last week. The place was nearly empty but the actual campsite layouts were fantastic. The sites were large and spaced out well. It was quite chilly up top on site 42 and very foggy. The restrooms were fairly decent with separate one person handicap accessible shower/toilet and sink that were pretty spacious. They weren't very clean and there was an arsenic warning that wasn't posted very noticeably. The entire place was covered with ground squirrels so be cautious when walking in the dirt/grass. Great views of the track and scenery but a good distance from most things. Again, a decent place to camp but attention to detail in the restrooms would go a long way since the place was nearly empty. read more

As a track, it's a great one. Interesting layout, fast turns - exciting! As far as the *running* of the place as a venue, it's like someone let their 12 year old brother be in charge. We were here for the 2014 SCCA Runoffs in which my brother was competing. We ordered our tickets and special parking pass long in advance. Along with our tickets and pass in the mail came a track map showing the layout and the color-coded parking areas. When we arrived, we saw there was a sign pointing one way for "green parking." We looked on our map and saw that seemed to make sense and started to drive into the dirt paddock area looking for it. No luck. We turned around and asked one of the security/traffic directing people who gave instructions in a different direction. We gave that a shot. Nope. Wrong way down a one-way road. Third try and we were given instructions by a lady who was working the event for SCCA. We followed her info and did find a parking lot. But it was unmarked as being any color code by sign or on the map (where it was listed as being a vendor area) and the other vehicles there had about 3 different passes throughout. Oof. I worried about the car getting towed (especially bad news as it was a rental). At the end of the day, we discovered, when consulting one of the large track maps on a sign, that we were indeed in the right spot, but the map we were mailed was TOTALLY WRONG and the area the signs posted at the entrance had pointed to was being used for competitor paddock that weekend and not parking at all. Long rant there. But really, I'm well-versed in going to race tracks. This place was just run by cowboys with no idea what was going on, clearly. Additional to our parking issue, security was dodgy, they really might do well to try to plant some cacti or something, many competitors weren't able to park where they'd apparently been told they would be (leaving them on the other side of the track altogether), and generally things were just poorly organized throughout. Since Laguna Seca is essentially a county park, they seem to leave it to individual race groups to organize and run each event. But this clearly leads to conflicting and troublesome information and situations arising. It would seem that the county really should have some permanent staff on hand to keep things running smoothly. As an aside, the local Boy Scout troop there was trying to sell ice cream bars for $5 a piece. Even at event prices, that was ridiculous and I question what sort of integrity and honor that sort of price gouging teaches those kids. Hrmph. read more

i have a love-hate thing with Laguna Seca.. i've been coming here for years.. whether to watch a race or be in one. watching the races are always fun.. whether it be the MotoGP races, the Rolex Historics races or the GT races. the facilities are convenient and up to par.. cleanliness all depends on what event is being held and how many people are there but i find it to usually be clean (except maybe the bathrooms). as always.. the on-going joke is the parking arrangements. for some reason Laguna Seca knows how to host events to professional races.. but they can't seem to get their parking situation to run smoothly.. everyone tends to park anywhere and where ever.. soo that's pretty much my only qualm. racing here is an experience to be had. granted it's almost an uneventful course considering technical skill.. but it is a considerably highspeed course which if not paying attention can lead to some trouble.. especially on the back straight from turn 6 going into that elevation change at 7 and into the corkscrew at turn 8. that's probably the most difficult technical part there is.. but again.. it's a highspeed course so anything can happen. timing entry points and exit points and figuring out where your apex should be can prove to be an interesting challenge if you're not used to highspeed tracks. another downside.. not immediately related to Laguna Seca.. are the speed traps setup by local police up and down hwy 68.. especially around big event days. pretty inconvenient when they tend to harass spectators once they leave the racetrack. nonetheless.. a fun filled race track.. read more

This place rocks! Happened to come here for the very first time on Oct 16, 2011 to attend the Porsche Rennsport Reunion event. Wow. This is one helluva race track. We witnessed all sorts of old and new porsches zip around this track. The infield where the paddock is located, is super nice. There's even a little lake/pond. Its very cozy. But as I stood on one of the viewing platforms overlooking the track, I was trying to imagine what/how MotoGP races must be like here.....incredible. That's all I could think of. What a setting. Attended MotoGP 08' and 07'..awesome good time, this track is THE place to watch motorcycle racing. Rossi KILLED it this year and after the race rode back to the corkscrew to kiss it..classic. Lots of good areas to watch the race if you don't have set seats. My only gripe is that the parking lot--the main one is like 2-3 miles away and they bus you in like inmates. read more
