I booked an appointment about 3weeks ahead for a full head weave with a closure (for my birthday) Let me say she SLAYED my hair, my closure is so flat and undetectable; you cannot even tell where it begins. I recently got a closure installed for the first time by Tam. Although I've been wearing weaves for years, I used to be terrified of closures because I did not want to look like I was wearing a wig/helmet! I'm so glad I found Tam. I absolutely love this stylist. She's so chill and engaging when working on your head, offering advice for styles and protective styles, and you always walk out feeling your greatest. I've had both a closure installed and leave out with her, and I left with my hair laid flat! Tamara was great!!!!!! I had a previous install but unfortunately could not bare the pain of migraines I was having from the sewn in being too tight. Luckily Tamara was able to see my plea for help and saw me that same day. I was upset about only having the sewn in for about 10 days and I never had problems in the past, but I was happy to have Tamara see me right away. I had quite the problem I get sorted when i went to go see Tam. A quarter of my hair had fallen out after a bad relaxing and the hair that was left was incredibly short. Tam was able to book me on short notice and get working on my hair. She was incredibly quick and attentive to my needs. From checking in to see how my head was doing during the process to consulting me on how to make my style more modern, Tam was professional and incredibly helpful. I couldn't believe that the whole process took a little less than four and a half hours. I absolutely love my hair and can't get over it. Tamara really is quite amazing! My daughter had a sew-in that started with a faulty braid pattern and ended with a very unrealistic-looking closure. She was miserable and didn't want to leave the house. I contacted Tamara and, not only did she make time for an appointment right away, she offered to take out the sew-in at no charge and, for a very reasonable charge, re-install it from scratch using one of her high-quality silk closures. She worked a miracle that day and my daughter's hair looked 100 times better! She was so happy to be going back to school with a "do" she could be proud of. Prior to this, I had written a 5 star review for Tam which was a complete LIE. I put that review up to kiss ass basically. What Monee T. said below is absolutely correct. All of a sudden for NO apparent reason Tam will NOT respond to Ur calls or text as she is extremely unprofessional. I wrote the 5 star review hoping to get a simple call back or "better treatment". Since then I have found another stylist and am now going to give you the honest truth about Ms Tam. First off, her house is pretty dirty. With all those kids you would think it would be some kind of chore system but NO. This is what your hair appointment will look like: Expect to be surrounded by children playing and screaming the entire time, a social worker present, a person waiting to get their hair done also as she often double books, your head throbbing from the painful braiding, and a baby daddy or two stopping by. It will be a guaranteed circus so bring Popcorn. Don't get me wrong, she is a talented stylist and SEEMS legit. But the negatives far outweigh a decent hair style in the end. Secondly, she is bourgie as hell w/ her fake blue contacts. Also she is NEVER on time. She is never wrong about ANYTHING. She will never apologize and mean it. She has a huge ego, thinks she is God's gift to the hair industry, and she will NEVER respect you as a client. Sadly, you arriving on time with clean hair, being courteous, paying in full, tipping and leaving is NOT enough to inspire respect from her. She will let you know that her clients are "expendable" and she will treat you that way also after while. When you first meet her, you empathize and feel bad for her being a single mom and all. But as you get to know her personality and work ethic, you will begin to wonder if the 3 or 4 baby daddies got it right by leaving this crazy B* alone! I dont use the B word often, but a spade is a spade. The worst is when a client calls or text her while she is doing your hair. She'll start talking Shit about the female and won't respond to them for hours, even days. The first time she did it I uncomfortably giggled along with her as she belittled some female simply trying to get her hair done. But when it happened again and again, I felt VERY uncomfortable as I knew if she did it to them, she could easily do it to me as she has NO respect for people. She is used to confrontation and chaos. She has an entire section on her website on why she will NOT see a potential client or repeat with a client she has already seen. Kim Kimble has a salon and thousands of weirdos watching her on TV and she doesn't even have such policies. Makes you wonder WHO really has the problem here? Also she braids TIGHT ASS HELL as the review by T.R says. After my first appointment, my cornrolls were extremely tight for 7 days straight. Unnatural Intense pain, I was looking for blood, close to tears. I let her know the next time I saw her and from then on I would have to constantly remind her to braid softly during the entire braiding process which got tiring fast. She claims to care about and "grow hair" but in all actuality the only thing she's growing is Traction Alopecia for her clients. She braids like she's choking out one of her baby daddies. Used to that Ride or Die hair stylist? That stylist that will go the extra mile to hook you up? This is NOT Tam. Don't have a Wedding or other important event to attend as she is completely unreliable and wont return your call until she is good and ready. I should know, I was recently 86ed from her hair palace as she blames me for cussing excessively and causing the Social Worker that is there DAILY for her daughter to make her choose between her hair Business or the tutoring as they said the child was not improving. Sounds Insane to blame me right? A woman who did my hair maybe 5 times by then and who has at least two heads a day blamed me? We were not friends, I didn't hang out and party. Just got my hair done and left as soon as possible and still got this crappy treatment. I had seen Tam for 6 months by then and NEVER heard anything about language. Long story short, as she will certainly respond to this negative review, I ask you to just ask yourself and think about ANY government or administrative reprimand you have ever received. They ALWAYS give you several warnings before taking action! Playing music too loud? Management gives you a warning. She needed someone to blame, she chose me and kicked me to the curb as a client before two major events...my cousins wedding and Thanksgiving so I'm still quite upset. This woman is truly crazy! Since then, I've found another stylist that does very good work, is on time, and is not mental. Tam is unreasonable and unpredictable. The type female that would throw a hot pot of grits in your face? Maybe not, but I certainly dont trust her anymore. She may hate her life, she 100% hates doing hair, but most importantly...she will never respect you as a client. read more

I'm so glad I chose Tam! I got a full install with a silk closure. The install is amazing! It's been maybe nine weeks, so it's about time for take down, but nothing is loose and my hair still looks good. Her prices are reasonable and she's really a joy to be around. I'm only knocking down stars because it's been hard for me to reach her by phone. My closure needs/needed adjustment weeks ago and I haven't been able to reach her. I've called twice and left messages, but got no response back. I'm always on the go, so being able to just call to schedule an appointment works best for me. I had to watch YouTube tutorials to figure out how to adjust the closure myself. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice to have Tam do it:-( Anyways, I will return to her for my next install, but I'll probably have some of my hair left out since I know how to easily maintain it myself. read more

I would have to agree with the previous review. Extremely unprofessional and unreliable. The first time she did my hair it looked great but my hair was near falling off my head it was so tight. Please see pics posted. The second time she did my hair it was unraveling in a week. In addition to the actual experience of her doing my hair was just horrific. I gave her a third chance to redeem herself with leaving voice message and text but no response. I honestly think she was embarrassed. My advice, be cautious of people doing things out of their home. I will be nice by saying sanitation is of upmost importance when someone is in your head. Take one look inside the home and I was ready to turn away but gave her a chance. When you don't respond after I expressed my concern with unraveling and the need to have it done, I'm compelled to send a review. Take it from me, if you're thinking about getting a lace closure, Tam is the ONLY person that you should call! I had been thinking about getting a lace closure for about two months. I finally admitted to myself that while my hair was healthy under my weave, my leave out was suffering badly. My mom had started calling me "five strands." It was a real situation. I've never had a closure & I did not want to look "wiggy." Well...even after all my research, when my trusted stylist of 15 years had my closure looking like a weave from 1957, I had to call Tam. I called Tam three days after I got my hair done, I explained the situation to her and she was able to squeeze me in! One Wednesday nite, four hours later and I was transformed from "auntie wearing her church wig" to "cute, sassy 30 year old with banging hair!" My review is years overdue. I've been going to Tam for close to 4 years with a break in between due to a medical reason that caused a great deal of changes to my natural hair. upon returning to Tam a year ago, we picked up where we left off and she didn't make me feel uncomfortable with the changes in my hair or the areas that lacked length. i bought my hair from her as well with the closure if she thought I "HAD" to go that route. After she inspected my hair, she was pleased to inform me that I did not have to wear the closure. A great deal of my hair has grown back now and my appointments are getting shorter and shorter with the amount of hair that I'm now able to leave out to blend with teh weave hair. I never have to say a word related to my hair when I sit in her chair. My style isn't always the same and don't have a preferred side to part my air so just sit back and trust her judgement and have ALWAYS liked the end result. When I was there last week, I didn't even look at my hair (The finished product) when I left the chair until i got home. i later went to a toy &, food drive for kids which included a first date. He complimented me all evening and finally worked up the nerve towards the end of our dinner to ask me if i was wearing a weave because he could always tell on most women. Weavemaster Tam is DA TRUTH Y'ALL. I went to this lady who completely messed my hair up. I called Tam in a panic, asking her can she just take the closure off and put it back on the RIGHT WAY. She was so wonderful on the phone, completely calming me down. She fit me in that day. When I got there, she was so hospitable and absolutely hilarious. You will be laughing the whole time you get your hair done. Now, the hair, she killed it! My closure was so flat and so natural looking. Y'all, the closure even had a defect in it (I DIDN'T GET IT FROM TAM) and she was able to fix it. She tweezed the hairs that were making it uneven and it was so unbelievable. Then, she even went through my hair and took down the parts that were horrible (in the tracks) and made them look flat and beautiful. I didn't even want her to curl it, but because I had such a bad hair experience before her, she curled, cut and styled my hair and simply said "I just wanted you to have a good hair experience". Complete waste of my time, money, gas, energy and everything else in between! That is my personal opinion!! I will not be coming back! Hate my hair! Closure wasn't even put on correctly!!! I have very thick hair and she didnt make the braids small enough, i look like a helmet head! Just not ok. The rest of the "5 star" reviews on here are probably her friends she made write on here!! (Look at them, they all have the same wording and structure) Don't believe the hype, just pay the money to go to someone's shop and get your hair done right!!
