I setup an appointment for 7 pm for grooming and style for my locs. After I reached 10 mins early driving through terrible LA traffic I was then was told it would be an hour wait. I wasn't seated in her chair until 9 pm or given an apology for the extra time I had to wait for my patience. I wish I was given a courtesy call hours before like "Hey I'm running a bit behind. Come in at 8 stead of 7." It's those little things people appreciate and understand. The stylist was on the phone after her previous appt left with no urgency to do my hair. I of course was frustrated by the unprofessionalism and voiced it to her she stated the she had the right to refuse service and I walked out. Another unprofessional hair stylist. After calling and leaving a message to inquire about an appointment and prices, I get a text many hours later wanting to know if I was a patient. I replied, no and then crickets. Who does that? With only a few yelp reviews, I highly doubt the "Weaveologist" is that busy and high profile as she like to emulate. There are way too many options in LA to deal with this sort of non sense. As a matter of fact, I have since made an appointment with someone who has a modern website for me to make appointments and has given me warm welcome and answered my questions in a timely manner. #pathetic read more

I loved going to see Tye my hair was nice and bouncy and very close to my house

I have to say that I was disappointed and therefore have to post a review. I called and texted Tye to make a hair appointment for 4 o'clock on Tuesday, March 31st. Tuesday morning I texted her asking her if I can show up to my appointment a little early to get a quick consultation on my hair before she started. I didn't hear back from her all day which was completely fine because I figured she was busy and the request was made last minute. I showed up to my appointment around 3:50 PM and walked in to see her working on someone else's hair. Again no big issue because it's very difficult to find a beautician these days that doesn't double book plus it looks like she was about two thirds of the way done with the person's hair so I was willing to wait. I introduced myself and told her that I was her 4 o'clock appointment and she looks surprised. Here is how the conversation went. Me: hi I'm your 4 o'clock appointment Tye: oh I'm running behind sorry about that. Me: okay will how long do you think you'll be? Tye: well I'm doing this head right now and I have another head before you. Me: okay so then we have to reschedule but I do need my hair done as soon as possible because as I mentioned I'm going out of town Thursday. Tye: yes I totally understand okay how about tomorrow at noon So not a bad conversation but here's my issue. First of all why didn't she call me ahead of time to let me know that she either was running really behind or needed to cancel?why is it that I had to waste my time showing up to find that information out? Also why did she look surprised? did she not put the appointment in her book? All in all I have been hard-pressed over the years to find a black beautician who not only has the skill to make your hair look good but actually knows something about haircare and demonstrates complete professionalism. Ladies there is entirely way too much competition out there for you to settle for anything less than what you deserve when you were paying your money for any service. I went ahead and confirmed the appointment for the next day with Tye just in case, however I went home and in less than 20 minutes found another hairstylist to take me and took my money to that place. I spoke with a wonderful young lady named DeAndra at the bar in Reseda so that's where I will be spending my money. I will not be making any other appointments with Tye nor recommending her because if this is how she treats a brand-new customer, I can imagine what happens when there is an ongoing comfortable relationship. Again they're too many options to choose from to deal with subpar service. I have no ill will or hard feelings for her but just had a put it out there. I wouldn't recommend this place especially if you are on a strict timeline. Calling to cancel or rearrange an appointment is common curtesy. It's not enough for me that a stylist does good hair. I also want my time valued and respected as well. For those of you who have been going to her for years and have never had to wait, good for you. I'm glad you're satisfied with the service. Double booking is one thing but triple booking and forgetting about an appointment. That's not professional, period. I do thank Tye for making an appointment for the next day but I shouldn't have had to be accommodated, my appointment should have been honored. If I had to fly out the next day I really would have been in trouble without my hair being done. This is not a personal attack, it's a review of MY experience with this business. I recently had my hair done in the salon part of the barber shop by the lady Tye. I usually get keratin bonded extentions, they're very costly and damage your hair tremendously. I have a girlfriend that had her hair done by Tye for a sew-in weave and her hair looked amazing. The quality of the hair that Tye recommended was exactly what I was looking for! Also, I got discounted for a first time experience! She cut and styled the hair to my satisfaction and I have to say I will definitely make arrangements for another visit! read more

Where do I start !!!! seriously , one of my best experiences ....like I couldn't even begin to describe the care and the professional approach this young lady takes , when it comes to you being a first time client. Tye" will not disappoint you ....I don't know if this review will give her enough justice "seriously" . I went to her two days before I left, and she took her time with me at the hair store and in the shop. She also offered me wine during my "hair time" which made me feel like a queen in every aspect. She was great to talk to and will give you what you want to the T. Seriously I've never met a stylist that really takes time and has patience in really acknowledges what you wants your hair to look like when you walk out the salon. Ty was amazing. She gave me life changing tips on how to get the best out of my extensions. I had the micro bead extensions before and I was always so worried about them slipping out of my hair or falling out, but she fixed me up right away. I have never been happier with my hair! I recently had a full weave with a custom dye put in in San Diego. Unfortunately the color came out orange reddish instead of blonde and my natural hair was not blended with the color. Thankfully I found Ty and she an amazing job with fix the color. I'm a beautiful blonde with no red or orange tones and my roots completely blend into the weave hair. She also makes feel extremely comfortable and gives her clients the look that their trying to achieve.
