Great place, little pricey though. Nice that they opened up Chestnut Hill location, cuts down the crowds.

Meh! The Chestnut Hill store was poorly lit and cramped. Shop was more sizzle than steak. Hopefully the other stores are better.

Great selection of produce, bread and prepared foods. They also offer non-food items such as fun calendars, jewelry and sundries.

I wouldn't say that the community is necessarily made up of "tree huggers" and "earth children", though.

This is a small store with a large selection of products and the owner is very informative with every item. Yes the prices are some what over price if you don't take in consideration the free knowledge that she include with the products. If you know exactly what you looking for and you don't mind waiting for it in the mail then thats the way to go. I will continue to patronize her because I want her to remain in business. Also keep in mind she is also a small business and not being her supplies in bulks like most box stores. Keep in mind the owner is over 80 years old, she looks great for her age and is due to her knowledge. If she's waiting on a customer and you call her on the phone, she will tell you Im busy and hang up the phone and continue to provide her customer her undivine attention. It does come across as rude, but please don't judge base on that. Once you get her attention she won't stare you wrong. If she's waiting on some one be prepare to wait, when your turn arrives she will educate you on what ever you need or purchase. She also aware of some of the prices and she will offer you alternative vitamins or product not to hurt your packets. I've been her customer for over 4 years know, and Im very please with her help and knowledge. My over all experience is A+.

Evergreen Cheese is a mysterious and wonderful place that I found by accident as if it were a…read moremystical shop tucked away in Diagon Alley à la Ollivander's Wands. A small, beautifully cozy space with all the cheeses you could ever wish for awaits you when you emerge from the alley leading you to this unctuous temple of deliciousness. I happened to have my daughter's initial orthodontic assessment this morning and afterwards we went to grab a coffee a few blocks away. Luckily I had parked in front of the small sign beckoning visitors to explore the small pathway and into the grip of the intoxicating cheese gods waiting inside. Not only was I immediately swept away by the selection and space, but considering the quality of cheese and breadth of choices as well as other products, the prices still sit in the "reasonable" range for a store like this. Despite being here for years, I had never known of its existence and was greeted by John, the owner who told me they have been there since 2012. I wish I had known for all this time, as the storied Chestnut Hill Cheese Shop I had gone to in years past had closed in 2017, and honestly, this spot is nicer, cleaner, a bit smaller, and has a better selection! John took the time to make me feel very invited and explain his business to me and is very knowledgeable about his craft. Introducing a friend of my daughter to cheeses recently has been an exciting adventure and I picked up a small amount of comté to take back for him to try, as it's such a staple. I will be coming back here for many years and for as long as it is here. This is the exact kind of place I have been looking for, for years! I just wish I had known sooner! Make sure if you live anywhere in the Philadelphia area or collar counties to stop by Evergreen Cheese. You can make it the center of a trip for the day to Chestnut Hill, or just a single stop alone, but don't miss this absolute hidden gem.

Also, a big thanks to the owner for running the cheddar through that machine when I ask: means I don't have to wear out an arm making stovetop mac and cheese for family events.
