I never would have thought to stop and check this place out, had a friend not told me they had some of the best shoes on the island. Outside it is totally unassuming...the last store in an abandoned strip mall. Inside it is packed wall to wall with dry goods...clothes, shoes, and horse back riding gear. Lots of great sandals for summer. I was sucked into buying a completely luxurious bathrobe, because it felt like the softest of baby blankets and was happily half off! Only place I've ever seen where you can buy footwear that is both comfortable and stylish and a riding crop at the same time! read more

The best hidden secret for quality shoes that are on sale, or not. The in stock selection beats most shoe stores and they focus on comfort shoes, that are not bad looking.The exterior has been recently remodeled and now reflects what great goods are inside. Love going into this place. It's like the Nordstrom's of Whidbey. Return your shoe purchase (as long as they're not used outside) for any reason. They are usually open 7 days a week. (Closed July 4th.) Can usually find great "deals" on shoes and clothes. They carry the best brands of shoes for walking and hiking around Whidbey. read more

A shopping option for locals on the south end of the island. They have mens, womens, and childrens clothing. Bedding and bath items. Large shoe selection, lots of wool socks, backpacks, and oddly enough a large selection of womens undergarmets. Seems like the clothing is geared toward women 50+ . I was visiting from out of town and I saw on Yelp it was not far from where I was staying. My tennis shoes were old and I was able to replace them with some really good shoes for a great price. I told all my friends about the big sale so I am sure they are going also. read more

I wrote a review of the store years ago, but it seems that it has expired? It's still the best shoe store I've been to in years and years. Lots of comfy shoes that fit my size 11s, and I've found some amazing buys, too. Quality brands, but not the trendiest selections. Shoes perfect for island life. There's a summer sale every year. I'm so wishing I needed another pair soon. The rest of the store doesn't interest me at all, but it covers for emergencies, thus the 4 stars. read more

I love this little store! It is jampacked with good things, fair prices, lots of sales. I buy most of my shoes here, from cowboy boots to sandals, wide variety of sensible brands. Also has underwear, casual wear, jeans, sweaters, and bed and bath linens. I don't know how they get it all in there. It survived the rehabbing of the little mall builind it was in and is now located next to the best espresso & bakery in Freeland, which is part of our local phone company. Shop the Rock! read more

Dear Webbs Department Store; I am compelled to write to your regarding a recent encounter I observed in front of your store. I am a long time resident of Freeland, over 40 yrs. and over a week ago, I noticed some women speaking to you regarding a delivery being made my the FedEx employee. The FedEx truck had backed into the handicap parking in front of your store to deliver merchandise. I stood off to the side and listened to them expressing concern about the FedEx driver using the handicap parking as a place to back in to drop off his packages to YOUR store. When he was asked why he was using the handicap parking spot, he said he only used it when it wasn't being used. Sadly, your employees did nothing to detour him from using this spot. Your store has requested parking off to the side for YOUR customers, however, your employees encouraged him to use the handicap parking spot. Not only is this poor behavior, it's illegal. I have to say, a company that allows deliveries to be made by using the handicap parking space is not a company that I want to patronage. I'm sorry your employees felt it was proper to encourage the FedEx driver to use the handicap parking in front of your store. There is an load/unload parking space on the other side of the front of the businesses that the drive could use. Why not encourage the driver to use that space or one of your requested reserved spaces??? read more

When I walked in all three employees were whining about the big shipment that had just been dropped off and didn't even acknowledge that I'd walked in the door. I searched for a pair of shoes in my size for about 15 minutes without anyone doing anything more that casting an unfriendly glance my way. Needless to say this did not make me want to ask for assistance. Who wants to talk to someone who would clearly rather be doing anything else in the world than helping you? I brought the shoes to the counter and waited...and waited. Finally one of the three sighed deeply and came over to ring me up. Quel service! But wait, the best part is when she swiped my card w/o asking for ID then after she'd charged me, stared at the receipt for awhile and declared that my signature was a forgery! I gave her my ID and she returned it w/o comment, certainly not an apology. She walked away from the counter while I was still standing there, apparently anxious to get back to the gossip circle. The rudeness I encountered in this store left me baffled. This woman really ruined my day. read more

I've grown up on the island, and have gone to Webb's a few times over the years, purely out of necessity, for clothes and riding equipment that can't be found elsewhere on the South End. It's fairly expensive, but they have good sales. We stopped going, then after the store and area was remodeled, decided to go check it out last month. . I went in there, actually prepared to drop $200 on a new pair of riding boots, until I experienced the worst customer experience I've ever had. The pair of staff members were extremely unfriendly, abrupt, and actually trailed me around the store, just watching me as I tried to take my time and enjoy shopping. Needless to say, I did not purchase the boots, but couldn't resist a less expensive shirt. When purchasing, it was obvious the worker did not want to be there, and apparently would rather customers would just stop coming in and annoying her with all their silly money-spending in her store. Good grief. So glad to leave with my shirt, but will not be coming back to Webb's again. read more
