I was pleased to see that Cash Saver had opened until I found out that I would have to do math while shopping. I don't mean that I would have to keep a running total (rounded up for good measure) in my head in order to stay within the budget but that I would have to remember to add ten percent to all of the marked prices. That's the schtick here. By presenting you with the "cost" price and boasting that they "add 10% at checkout", they give the impression that they are barely eking out a profit and that you are saving a bundle. It's a great tactic. Everyone wants to save a few dollars these days. But, really, the prices here are no better than anywhere else and the selection is fairly limited (almost no organic stock) and I am pretty sure that I don't have to do any extra math while trying to avoid a shopping cart collision over at Jay-C. Cash Saver is fine for running in to grab a few things that I might need right away but I still need to make a longer journey to do the serious shopping.

The decorations were very cool. So we decided on a coffee at the coffee shop in the Market instead. I had a holiday Mariah Cherry, white chocolate and cherry latte. It was so very good with a distinct cherry flavor and piping hot. My hubs had an americano that he enjoyed. Service was good and it was fun to sit in the market and watch the few folks that ventured in while we drank our coffee. Such a unique space for a downtown hotel lobby attachment. Check it out.

I personally ordered a hand and cheese sandwich. It was good but kinda small and overpriced at $6. My wife did there lunch special of soup of the day and half a sandwich. Soup of the day was chili which she said was tasty. She got a club sandwich and said it was really good. Had great flavor. My oldest daughter got a corn beef sandwich and raved about it. The counter desserts got to us. I got me and my second oldest daughter this giant m&m's brownie which was cheaply priced (opposite of ham sandwich) and was really good. You know how the corner pieces or a brownie platter is the best? Well this whole thing tasted like a giant corner piece with m&m's. Legit one of the best brownies I've had before. My oldest got cake pops and she said they were really good. On this trip we didn't purchase any steaks. However, we may come back. There ribeyes pricing lined up with local retail stores so I think we would rather support local small businesses like this one this holiday season and give it a shot. So I think we will come back in a a few days and buy some of the ribeyes which run around $13 a pound. Overall very cool and nice addition to the small town of Mount Washington. They had reruns of Andy Griffith show on the tv behind the counter. (Which I love that show) I was greeted by a woman that asked What I wanted and I asked for two of those NY strips. The price out the door was $23.24 for the two steaks. I went home seasoned the steaks and fired up the grill. My wife and I ate our steaks and we said they were good. They were not the best but they were really good. I will be back to try more items. I found those, as well as a bounty of excellent looking produce and one of the largest collections of local goods and groceries I've seen. A clerk pointed me to their local chocolates and candies section, and I was able to get some bourbon balls and modjeskas -- dark chocolate modjeskas, in fact, a first for me. And during my short trip, I noticed several local brands represented, as well as great options for pre-made meals. I feel like Paul's would also be fun to shop at for a party. You could find lots of dips and other party foods to show off. A few years ago I also ordered some fruit baskets here for my kid's teachers. They were a hit, and it was nice to know that our class' money was going to a local business. I will definitely be back here!
