He checked the car in just a few minutes, did his thing on the computer, and made me a very solid offer. We ultimately didn't sell to them though. I found the experience with We Buy Any Car at the Fairless Hills location to be a much more comfortable experience than expected. Chris, the manager, was very personable - without being pushy. The process of checking the car over and making an offer was quick. I was juggling between giving a few people who had expressed interest in my 2003 Element an opportunity to purchase it and accepting the offer from We Buy Any Car. The initial offer from WBAC was a bit lower than my lowest threshold for the vehicle (but better than what Reedman-Toll offered for a trade-in on the vehicle I'd recently purchased). However, they increased it slightly after some gentle negotiation. (I'm no haggler!) I would have expected to sell it for a few hundred dollars more from an individual buyer, but the folks who were interested in my car couldn't get their schedules to align with my available time (after forfeiting a few afternoons of waiting), and in the end, with insurance on the car coming to an end and annual registration due shortly, I was happy to have WBAC's offer and accepted it. The difference of a few hundred dollars was a fair trade-off for the hassle of listing it publicly and negotiating with strangers. They need to make a little money on the vehicle, too, after all! I view it as "using an agent" to sell one's car. For my situation - parting with an older vehicle that required two new tires and was due for other routine maintenance and the possibility of requiring a new catalytic converter before passing the next inspection, this turned out to be a satisfactory decision. Keep in mind that they are buying your car, after only going for a quick test drive and taking a quick look at it. Not much time there to really determine if something is wrong with the car. You will NOT get your quoted price from the online valuation. After looking at and test driving your car, they will pick out any small detail about something they saw wrong with the car and low ball you on the offer. I expected this. As long as you aren't a complete idiot and accept that offer (or walk out right away), then you can get them higher. After all, this is a NEGOTIATION. If you don't want to bother negotiating with the guy then sell your car yourself. The bottom line is, yes, I could have received more money if I sold the car myself, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of having some random Craigslist weirdo meeting me in a mall parking lot and looking at the car. After agreeing to the price, the process was quick and easy to sell the car. Total time there was around 45 minutes. I walked out with the check right away. Also, if you think you are going to get the blue book value for your car, you won't. You probably, at best, will get only around 70% of the blue book value. You are paying for the convenience of selling your car quickly and efficiently and also need to keep in mind that the company needs to make a profit off of it as well. No one there was rude to me or disrespectful. In fact, they were the complete opposite. I was prompted to go here based on the positive reviews about the area manager Marcus Johnson. I'm happy to confirm they were right. When I arrived without an appointment he was very courteous. There was another customer there ahead of me. Marcus came out of the office and introduced himself. He explained that he had an appointment ahead of me and he would be about 30 minutes or so and invited me to wait or I was welcome to come back. I decide to wait. He offered me water or coffee in the waiting room. My daughter took advantage of the coffee. I chatted with another customer that had come in after me. I must've waited about 30-35 minutes. With his very pleasant demeanor we began the process of me selling my truck. It was a 1998 Toyota 4Runner in good condition. The transmission was starting to act up and I didn't want to put any money into fixing it. He explained the process to me thoroughly. Took the truck for a test drive and did the once over. When he came back he asked what I really wanted for it because he didn't want to insult me. Not knowing I had already been insulted on the Kelly Blue Book site that only offered me $250. I told him to give me the bottom line and it was more that twice what KBB offered me I was satisfied with his offer. Having received an online valuation of $7685 (fair enough to lure me in), I was then offered $5200 at the office, despite their being no significant mechanical or cosmetic issues contributing to the more than 33% devaluation. I was told a problem with the VIN database was responsible for the inflated online valuation. Inventive story, but deceptive nonetheless. Selling your car privately may be somewhat more aggravating and time consuming, but at least you can avoid this scam and not waste time and effort. read more
