The process was quick, and it was great working with Lamar who completed all the required paperwork. If you are selling a car as a Power of Attorney (POA), I highly suggest you call them first to ensure your POA gives you the authority to sell the car. Really frustrating experience. I was told the sales manager would call me back to confirm I could come in, and no one ever bothered. I got an email and had to call myself to then set it up the appointment. Most frustrating was that I double-checked that my payment method was acceptable (wire transfer) since I was buying the car outright and that I'd be able to drive off the lot same night. Sure, no problem i was told! I then show up and get told the complete opposite regarding payment. Apparently, they can't do a transfer from my bank. Well, that's news to me. The transaction here went well overall. The purpose of my visit here was to sell my car - fast. Rather than deal with the dozens of people who contact you if you sell online or otherwise you bring your car here and within a couple hours you walk out with a check in hand. The process is very simple - book an appointment in advance - show up (early if possible) and wait in waiting area. This was my least favorite part of it - I met with an appraiser, sat down while they inspected it, waited, met with another appraiser and then yet another appraiser to finalize the deal, all at different desks! So it was a bit more moving around than I cared to, bit every one was extremely friendly - almost too friendly. I got my offer and went with it. You may not get what you want which is to be expected but if you want get rid of your car fast, for a decent deal, potentially buy while you are on site than it can be done quickly and with a smile. read more

Had great success filling out everything online to sell our vehicle to them. We had a hiccup with their system not pulling up our information correctly however they manage to work around that. They failed to inform us when they gave us our check that it was a "for deposit only" and it could not be cashed which caused a lot of headaches and running around between banks and back to them to get a new check re written. Overall the check fiasco cost us hours of time and gas driving around trying to figure out a solution to be able to access the funds in order to go pick up our new vehicle. Overall the customer service was on point, just wish there was potentially more training for employees so their customers can be well informed in the transactions being made. read more

I had a really solid experience at this Carmax, just before the pandemic got started. Im a huge Carmax fan from way back. I've both bought and sold vehicles over the years and each time Ive always been impressed with the service and no BS attitude. The service I got at the Langhorne branch was no different than my earlier experiences. Absolutely outstanding. I ordered a car an out of state branch and the guys in Langhorne kept me up to date with the delivery progression. When it arrived they were happy to take me out for an extended test drive, no pressure, no rush. The payment and paperwork were also smooth. Total time in the branch including the test drive was around 3 hours, which I found to be reasonable. Terrible Experience with this Company in addition to, Lies and the fact that they don't take accountability for what they sell. My son purchased a 2015 Lexus RC350 back in June 2024. Since the purchase the vehicle he has had multiple electrical issues. Shortening out Amp, Speakers, lights. In addition pooling of water was found in the trunk of the vehicle. Which we now come to find out the car has been in accident previously and we were never informed. The water actually pools water inside the trunk under the spare tire. On February 17,2025 I spoke with Damon Smith (GM) and explained the issues and the concerns of the vehicle. He assured me that Car Max will help in getting everything resolved. After weeks of back and forth with Damon as well as Jennifer Walsh from their corporate office who claims she works directly for Bill Nash the CEO. They insisted that we get the car repaired and that they would pay for it (All in writing) However, my son and I want a full refund of the car as it was sold under false pretenses and their 121 Point Inspection should have caught all of these problems. Both Damon and Jennifer requested we get estimates on repairing the amp/speakers that were shorten out due to the water getting into the car along with getting pricing for the body work to have car repaired and sealed. We followed their request and had Lexus provide us with the cost and labor of the wiring, speakers, and amp. Total cost of repair is $25,402.90. We also had a Certified Body Shop go through the vehicle to determine where the leak was coming from. They itemized 8 different issues with the major one being the wire harness in the rear being spliced together and laying by the pressure relief valve with 10+ wires being exposed to water damage. I sent all this info to Damon, Jennifer, and Bill CEO to get a phone call yesterday from Damon stating that they have decide now they will not be helping us or honoring anything. All because the repair estimates they wanted was higher than they originally estimated them to be. Since we have all this in writing I am pursing a Law Suit as we don't want the car due to all the issues and the dangers with water mixing with the electrical system. Applying on the phone was the easiest part of buying my car here. Took me four hours to sign the papers 2 days later. Then, my car needed work. I bought the CarMax care plan but was never told the original power train was still available. I took my car to a dealer because it was not drivable but had to return to PA for what was supposed to be a loaner but ended up being a rental. Two months later, my car is acting up again. Tried calling the facility because the first time they told me I should've called later. Left a message. No return call 2 hours later so far. The guy was just on the phone they told me. Horrible HORRIBLE customer service with a ton of promises and no follow through. I bought a car, get it home, go to the back door to put my sons car seat in and the handle comes flying off. I run the car immediately back to the store, we're talking within an hour. Scott Heckart gives me his card, says all be getting a call the next day to set up bringing it in to get fixed no charge. Next day comes and goes, no call. I then start calling Scott and leaving voicemails on an inbox that claims they'll call you back within 1 business day. 1 week later with no call back I get a hold of the call center that gives me the customer relation 1-800 number. Magically after making a claim through them the next day I get a call back to bring my car in. I tell them I'll bring it in Saturday, I've already had to take 2 days off to buy the car and another to get a recall done on it. They tell me come in Saturday, we'll give you a loaner, fix your car during the week and I can come back the next weekend to pick it up. I get a call back saying they don't do that, so I call the 1-800 number again explain what happened and the next day I get a call from the store magically saying we're on again for Saturday. I come in Saturday and have to bring 2 of my kids, no big deal I was explained I'll be in and out 5minutes, WRONG! Half hour later my diabetic son is starting to have problems so I ask the manager Adam Lanton what's going on. He replies with we're still checking your insurance to make sure it'll cover the loaner we're giving you. That's funny because no one asked me for my insurance information. I immediately grab my kids and head out to my car. I get to my car and all of a sudden Adam says my insurance that I never gave him won't cover the loaner and I have to come back Monday to get a rental. I have already explained I work all week and can't afford to take another day off to many times to give him my time. I take his car and I'll take the car to the dealer to get fixed. The best vehicle turnover I have ever experienced. I drive in, they analyze the car, they breakdown a reasonable offer in detail on why your car is only worth so much, you either accept or pass. What more can a car owner selling a car ask for, hmm, maybe more money but trying asking your employer that and see what they will say unless you are a big A hole and that is when they'll pay you to leave or to shut you up. The car selling layout is the same everywhere but it's how the CarMax staff delivers and executes this process that makes them different. Due to Covid-19 I decided to try the new way of buying a car and purchased my car through Carmax by looking at pictures online and checking Carfax reports and Experian auto report. I will admit I was skeptical but with the 30 day return policy I figured I would give it a try. The entire process was extremely easy from searching through the car inventory to financing the vehicle. I opted to have my car delivered. They arrived on time and the first thing I noticed was that the outside it the vehicle was in amazing condition. The delivery team showed me the features of the car just as if I were at the car dealer. I took a test drive and signed the papers. Because most of the paperwork was completed electronically it only took about a minute to sign the paperwork at my house. The Carmax experience was a bit of a mixed bag. Let me first say that our salesperson, Tyra, was great. Everything went smoothly from the perspective of getting the purchase completed. The bumpy part of experience happened before she was assigned to us for our appointment. I paid $199 to have a car shipped from VA to PA, and it arrived on 4/13/21 per the tracking on the website, but for days it said they were still getting it ready. I chatted with customer service online to see when they expected it would be ready since the dealership is over an hour away and I need to plan on when I can get there. I was told it would be ready on Monday (4/19) because they were backed up because of tax season and I guess that's a high selling time. I was supposed to receive a call when it was ready. Ok, so I heard nothing on Monday or Tuesday, so I called Tuesday evening and the call center rep put me on hold and checked with the dealership. Apparently it was just through its inspection and it's ready. This was not updated on the website tracking info though. When would I like to come? I said tomorrow afternoon (4/21). Well, when we got there for our appointment, they brought the car around for the test drive and Tyra (our salesperson) remarked that the car was filthy! It was covered in pollen and even the interior looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. It's a bit strange since someone knew we were coming because we paid to have the car shipped here and had an appointment. I didn't see any evidence of anything being done since it was delivered on 4/13, so I don't know why I couldn't see it earlier. I asked to see the 125 point inspection report, and they printed a report from the originating dealer, that's a bit vague, so I guess some inspecting was done in Virginia, but again nothing to suggest something had been going on for the last week while the car sat here. We did decide to purchase the car because we liked it, and it has very low miles and an existing manufacturers warranty. They did run the car through a car wash while we were getting the paperwork ready, but it is still pretty dirty in just about every nook and cranny. Plus there's sticky crud on the paint in some spots from trees or something that the carwash didn't remove. I can wash my own car, but I would have thought it would be presented much better since it's a nearly $30k product and someone should have known we were coming to see it. The purchase process itself was very smooth. We were not trading in a car, and we financed through Carmax. The rate was good for someone with excellent credit. Would I purchase another car from Carmax? Maybe if the right one happened to be there. I just hope someone reads this and takes some feedback that this could have been a bit better experience. read more

The landrover was shipped to Carmax in Langhorne PA. I purchased the car Nov 1,2021. I was there at Carmax for about 8 hours waiting to take the car. I took it for a drive and heard some noise. I asked the saleperson to have someone check the vehicle again, I wanted to have clarity that the vehicle was in good condition. The salesperson stated the vehicle was serviced over 2 times. Unfortunately I end up being their bait and I'm a single mom and went down there to purchase a car. I know for a fact they've been bullying me around the whole time. Carmax sold me a lemon. This has been an on going battle for a while now. I need to mention Pennsylvania lemon law does not cover used cars. However, the salesperson he just wanted to make a sale. I drove the landrover the same day and it gave me issues, I contacted Carmax and they said it will be tow back to them or to a service department of my choice. The vehicle was towed to Landrover Dealership Services. The vehicle was there for over 2 months getting work done. I needed a car so I had to get a rental. Even than it was constantly issues with Carmax making payments on time. Enterprise also charged my credit card due to lack of payment from Carmax. Finally, I get the landrover back and now more issues. The lights on the dashborad and camera section started flickering. I immediately contacted Carmax and Landrover dealership. I had to take the car back for some more services to be done. This has been a nightmare from hell. Carmax end up taking my car from Landrover dealership without my consent. I am the owner of that vehicle. How do these people just do whatever they want?This is unethical and immoral. I am still now without a car. The worst possible customer service humanly possible. It's baffling how pathetic this Carmax location is. We have been jumping through hoops since November 1st claiming we would have the car by the 10th. Well now it's the 22nd and we apparently won't have the car until the 29th. These people are ridiculously useless, no matter how much you try to get ahold of someone there is NO way to get through. My boyfriend and I were on hold waiting to get through to the store for over an hour mind you on two separate phones and BOTH were picked up and hung up on immediately. It's more hysterical that they thought this was two separate customers. Then every time you try to call back it's a dead line. Why are they avoiding any and all calls coming to the location?? Every time we speak to someone it's "we'll email a manager" when clearly a manager doesn't give a shit about their customers either! No one does anything and no one follows up even if they claim they will! An absolute waste of time. They do not care for their customers at all. Not sure how the store can survive if they ignore all of their phone calls where I'm sure there's plenty of customers calling to purchase a car. Again, a pathetic business. When I asked why couldn't I get all the docs at the time of purchase they told me the state of PA they must mail it. I waited approximately 10 days after daily calls, until they sent and I received it in the mail. Took all the paperwork to the DMV only to be told CARMAX did not sign the registration application form they sent me. I had to call several time before getting someone who assured me they would overnight the registration application today and send me a tracking number. I have been calling all day and no one has reached out so now I'm stuck not able to register my car and heard nothing. I have never had this frustrating experience buying a car. Car sales guy told me it would not take effect until AFTER the manufacture warranty expired giving me an additional 60 months and 15k miles of coverage. THIS IS A LIE! He also told me I would be able to get a refund for the policy if I didn't use it. First of all I would like to say this place gave me a pretty good deal but that's where my content ended. On June 4, I went in and looked at some vehicles and found one that my wife and I wanted. But the vehicle on the lot was about 2,000 dollars over our budget. So the salesman searched the CarMax inventory and found a vehicle that was in my price range and with free delivery, great deal right. Not so much. So I contact the store several times and when you call it's a call center that services multiple stores which is a problem in itself due to the fact you can never get ahold of someone in the store. So I was finally contacted by my salesman by emails and he stated that the vehicle would be in within a few days and they had to title it in pa. This was not relayed me the day we originally went in to the store to purchase the vehicle. I called again on Monday June 11th to check the status of my vehicle considering no one contacted me for an update. This evening my wife had to be admitted into the hospital to induce early labor due to pregnancy complications. Long story short we had our baby on Wednesday. I contacted CarMax on Thursday after my child was born and spoke with a finance guy who was good and very helpful even gave me his personal number. But CarMax could give a rats ass if you need a vehicle or not. I was assured on Thursday that the title would be there and I could come up and pick the new vehicle up. So again on Saturday I play a fun game of trying to get someone at the store on the phone. Finally after about 3 hrs of calling a manager called me back. He began the conversation with the statement would you like me to explain to you what's going on. Not I'm sorry it's taking so long or I know it's been a rocky road please give us a few more days. Instead this guy is very matter of fact about how it is it what is essentially and the title would be in on Tuesday. Which is 18 days after I ordered the vehicle. If I knew then what I know now I would have simply paid the extra money and went somewhere else. This is the first negative review I have ever written and I feel that I have been more than calm in this situation but I need a larger vehicle for my son and not only do I have new born at home I have to go shopping for a new vehicle. I wouldn't go back to CarMax if they were giving cars away this location specifically could give a rats ass about customer service I don't need someone to kiss my ass or offer me the world I would just like to be told the truth about a timeline and get a fair price for a vehicle. Made a reservation 3 days ahead of time, confirmed reservation with their call center the day before, drove two hours to test drive the car and show up and it has a dead battery. They claim they have to send it to the dealer to have the battery replaced and it would take around two hours. Expected us to sit there and wait for the car to come back. Worst incompetence I've ever experienced with a car dealer. Highly highly recommend AVOIDING carmax and all their shenanigans. read more

Found a nice Forester but it was very over-priced. No one goes out to look at cars with you so that was nice. They are unlocked so you can really poke around. Went in to check on the price and was told 'no haggle'. I questioned the fact that the window sticker said '4 wheel' when the car is actually AWD. The guy said 'no difference' and 'we mark all of them as 4 wheel. Left . Deceptive practices do not make for a good reputation. Stay away. read more
