As a result, we had to eat a portion of the cost of flowers for the event as well as needing to contract to use them for when we rescheduled. This was fine and we ate that cost. When we were able to finally manage to get all vendors to agree on a new date, we found out that l'ambiance increased fees as now the wedding would take place in the summer. Keep that in mind when planning. Priti was busy and unable to meet with me in person to actually start planning until maybe 10 weeks before the rescheduled and larger wedding. We went back and fourth many times on ideas and ultimately finalized our contract merely two weeks before the wedding. At this point, even if I didn't like the pricing, there was no time for me to even shop around for anyone else. There were many little mistakes/fees added such as any supplies they had prepared to use for the canceled dec wedding and the prices of things were not consistent between contracts. (My advice is to print each proposal bc you cannot refer to the previous to see what she was charging, so if one price was negotiated down, something else was "mistakingly" increased to recoup costs) Also the week before the wedding she realized her system had made a mistake on the contract and needed us to re-adjust yet again. Just extremely stressful and didn't really foster trust from my perspective. Ultimately, the finished product was fine. There were things that she claimed to take "artistic" liberties on but that mostly looked like they ran out of flowers plus she never ran those "liberties" past me. For someone spending 30k + divided between two events, she never connected with us after she got her money. When you are doing your budgeting, also add that you will have to provide a lot of hotel rooms for her workers even if the venue is only 1.5 hours away from her office. Also, some of her workers were found to have crashed our wedding and got drunk off our open bar and were found puking behind the event location. I'm glad they had a hotel nearby to sober up to break down the decor on Sunday morning. She will deny this. In the end, I would advise that you carefully review your contracts and that no matter what you agree and sign for, vendors can/and will change it last minute as there is no contract police to help you on your wedding day. Also, be aware that anything custom made for your event you will pay exorbitant pricing for and you will not be able to keep it without paying an even bigger price to take it off her hands. Long story short, end product was fine, sure, but very overpriced. Be prepared for a lot of miscommunication back and fourth and last minute contract changes as you will find many mistakes. Very stressful process.

With so many Wedding Planner services in the DMV, I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND Charming Grace Events. This review is coming from a Naval Officer with 12+ years in the Navy, and someone that is familiar with the wedding industry having my own wedding videography company. I say this, because I'm not just some "angry" social media person writing a negative review because I'm disappointed with the service I received, but rather to provide credibility to those that reads this review and provide awareness to those wanting a smooth wedding planning experience. We signed a contract for FULL SERVICE Wedding Planning Services for $6,000. She did provide us with a 10% military discount, even after we had signed the contract which was very nice of her. We paid a $1,200 retainer agreement. However, our experience was overall POOR as Brandi presented us with limited options, and expects you to sign whatever she presents to you. Brandi QUIT after we asked for multiple quotes from vendors, and kept the retainer citing: "Between the questionnaire from your initial consult, to the design board, I created based on those conversations, I do not feel that things are realistically matching up." Using the blurb in the contract: "may be terminated at any time by either the Client or the Consultant for such reason as, but not solely limited to: dissatisfaction, inability to maintain a civil Client/Consultant relationship, personality differences, etc. The liability is then limited to those funds already paid and received." She never tried to sync up with us to verify if things were realistically not matching up. She delayed things by not responding to our emails, then responding to our emails that she is busy and will respond later to our emails, to eventually flat out quitting. Here's more of the backstory: Brandi was certainly delightful to work with in the beginning. She was charming, and full of life. She came off as very organized, and delightful to work with us and meeting our wedding planning needs. We on our own found the photographer, videographer, DJ, and venue. My fiance still wanted to have a full-service planner for piece of mind. We do well for ourselves, and was by no means trying to find a low budget wedding. However, we are smart with our money, and seek to find optimal value in a business market that can be plagued with over inflated pricing, especially if you aren't familiar with the industry. The trouble began of when I started poking at what we were getting with Charming Grace Events. I'll start off by saying when I would text Brandi, she never responded. When I would email Brandi, she took 3+ days to respond. When my fiance would receive quotes from Brandi, I did some digging. My fiance informed Brandi that we would like to have catering around $15,000. What she presented to us were 2 caterers over $21,000 and that's before taxes and gratuity. I find it very hard to believe that in the entire DMV, there aren't caterers for the budget range we were looking for. Nonetheless, I called the caterer myself, and was able to work the price down without sacrificing food options or quality by about $3-4k, basically through getting a greater discount and optimizing staffing. This should've been Brandi's job, not mine. We received 1 quote for a florists. $5500, of which 30% was for a delivery, design, and setup fee. We asked for another quote. Never got one. I did some digging and found a florist with high ratings for about 25% cheaper. We were VERY, VERY appreciative and friendly in our emails. We even said if she is receiving a commission on her "preferred vendors" that is fine, but we would like to receive MULTIPLE options - not just ONE, or TWO. She will probably that she provided the following services: You stated you provided the following services: Venue research and scheduled tours Booking your venue/Choosing wedding date Aisle Planner Account - wedding management program Customized wedding design board Catering & florist research and proposals 1 in person meeting to discuss overall vision 1. We had already found our venue when we reached out to her. 2. She provided us with 2 Catering proposals, and 1 Florist proposals. All of which were extremely overpriced. 3. She did meet with us in person to discuss overall vision. 4. The other stuff was partially used. In summary, Brandi quit and stole our $1,200 retainer more than likely because we asked her to do her job. Yes, we tried to find some lower price options, but by no means nothing unreasonable. Like I said, we have no problem paying for a really good wedding that my fiance and I both want. What we have a problem is OVERPAYING because we didn't do our homework, or in this case overpay because our wedding planner just not to do hers.

We'd had an absolutely horrendous 10-month ordeal with our original wedding planner (see review for Jeannelle Muhammad Designs/LifeTime Events, Inc.), which culminated in termination with that company with just 6 weeks until our wedding. Luckily for us, Shelby happened to have our wedding date unbooked. My husband and I live in California and were super busy during this time, as are most couples planning a wedding. We also had the additional stress of having experienced exceptionally poor service from the previous wedding planner. What Shelby and her assistant were able to accomplish with just 6 weeks, our original planner was unable to achieve in the 10 months we were under contract with her. We secured the services of Exquisite Expressions & Events, Inc. on August 11, and we were married September 20. Not very much time--but she was able to pull off the most classy, elegant, and tasteful wedding for us! We still receive compliments about our wedding and by far, the most common adjective used to describe it is "classy." If there were any problems on that day, we were not aware. She thought of every detail, handled everything tactfully, and was even able to help me with my dress malfunction! Our entire wedding day ran flawlessly and seamlessly like clockwork, and everything began and ended precisely on time. Shelby was able to understand our vision, helped shape it without compromising it (given the time constraints), and exuded and demonstrated an overall sense of competence. She was extremely timely in her responsiveness and truly efficient with our time. The flowers and decor were fantastic--from the table cloths, to the chivari chairs, to the napkins, to the uplighting-- everything was quality. Shelby used quality vendors from her arsenal, who were exceptional in their own right. She has real connections and is very well-known throughout the D.C. metropolitan area. The prices that she got us for flowers, linens, and decor were absolutely amazing, a true testament to who she knows in the industry and how much they value her business. She has been in the event planning business for many years and has formed genuine relationships with TOP vendors in the area. I don't know exactly how she was able to get some of the deals she got us, but she did, and all with an extremely short window of time to pull it off. A weight was truly lifted off of our shoulders once Shelby came into the picture. We wish we had used her at the outset. Look nowhere else!
