We made a day trip to San Saba & stumbled onto the wedding oak winery. We tried out the red flight & purchased a few bottles of wine. We decided on: Tioja, Regency Bridge & Rousanne. The winery only sells Texas wines made with Texas grapes ~ which was pretty interesting. The best thing about the San Saba Wedding Oak location (they have tasting rooms in Burnett & Fredericksburg) was that the manufacturing of their wines was done on site. I don't know if they offer it all the time or just when they aren't as busy, but we got to have a little tour of the processing plant - where all the magic happens! This is what a winery should be! Great staff, wonderful wine, chill place to sit and relax, and a general feeling of peacefulness. Wedding Oak is truly all these things and definitely a 5 star in my book. On our short stay to San Saba we actually visited Wedding Oak twice because we enjoyed it so much. The staff was super friendly, made some great suggestions, and happily answered all our questions. She even recommended some other wineries and local places to try. She was great to get to know and took masterful care of us. She couldn't have been an better. The location is a perfect, classy little establishment on the main road in town. There is a huge room with barrels full of wine that will soon be delectable glasses of greatness for someone to enjoy. The bar area is nice and open, clean, brightly lit, and just has a nice feel to it. There are sitting areas at the front of the winery with multiple chairs to sit, drink some great, wine, and watch the sleepy little town out the windows. If not too hot outside, they have a fun little patio in the back with numerous tables and chairs. We tried multiple wines in our tastings and really enjoyed almost all of them. I'm not usually a white wine drinker, but like a couple so much that happily purchased a bottle. They also have an orange wine that goes perfectly with chocolate. We bought a bottle of that too. Next time we are in San Saba we will definitely be back. We had two great experiences and know that you will too! read more

We reserved the Burnet venue for a rehearsal dinner in October and everything about it was fantastic! The site itself looks amazing, everybody enjoyed the wine, and the staff was very nice and easy to work with. In particular, Dyana Pemberton helped us with every detail or question that we could think of. We had a great time there and I would recommend this place to everybody! read more

I personally found it a little odd that the winery is in one place, the tasting room is in another and the tree for which it is named is not at either of these locations. As an ex-wine country resident, I thought their wine was average. The tasting experience was sub-par (with the little wine tasting measuring lids, etc. are they unable to judge on their own?). Not to mention, they had seven wines available to taste the day we arrived, but the tasting only allowed for six different wines. Also, you get ONE tasting waived for every TWO bottles of wine you buy. Poor business practice overall in my opinion. I think someone needs to take a trip to Sonoma. Also, some plumbing issues in one of the bathrooms. read more

I was told to stop by for a tasting by the lady at Alamosa Wine Cellars and I am glad I did. Wedding Oak Winery is located in a renovated historic building in San Saba, TX. The building and decor are fantastic, and there is outside seating which looked nice. The staff was friendly, attentive, and very informative. Of course, the wines were great. The issue I have with Wedding Oak Winery is how restrictive they are with wines you can buy. 50% of their wines are only available for purchase if you are a wine club member. To me, this is a huge negative. Part of the wine tasting experience is to buy a bottle or two depending on how I like the wines from the tasting. All other wineries in the area have only one or two restricted labels which are not even available for tastings by non-wine club members. Forcing me into being a wine club member to simply buy one bottle of wine that I like is a pretty poor business practice. read more

I think someone is smiling down on me from above as this little oasis pops up right in the middle of my central Texas travels. Don't be confused by the name above the door, the official name of this quaint little tasting room is Wedding Oak Winery, named after a famous tree just north of town. The charm of the tasting room can be appreciated by folks like me, who do not generally notice the care which has been taken to enhance the venue's curb appeal. I don't recommend parking on the highway and barging in the front door like some uncivilized out-of-towner, even if there are spaces to be had. Take the time to park out back and meander in through the well adorned path, replete with a covered walkway and cinder paths for the rustic feel both overhead and underfoot. The wines here are pretty good. The server is quick to point out that the winemakers source 100% Texas grapes to produce the vintages here. Much of that source comes from the Texas high-plains as well as the Hill Country, so the blends produced can have a complete flavor while remaining true to their local sources. The white wines I tried were both light and soft, being steel barrel aged. The red wines were complex and bold, but they had ample earthiness to belie the Texan-grown fruit used in the process. I picked up a couple bottles to surprise Mrs. B from my weekend away. I'm already a big fan of this tasting room, and I see that they have some hunting-season themed events lined up this fall. I am not a usual wine drinker, but Kim converted me! My husband and I were driving to Dallas from Brady and decided to stop in to get a present for my mother in law. Kim was super helpful in suggesting some different wines she might like, since neither my husband nor I are really serious wine drinkers. Kim and Mike even spotted our little dog in the truck outside and told us to bring her inside! My husband convinced me to do a tasting even though I'm such a novice and thought I was going to embarrass myself horribly. Kim was so nice through the whole thing, and the wine was really delicious! We ended up joining the wine club and snagging two of their last bottles of sparkling wine called Bridal Blush. We're really hoping to get back down for one of their wild game event nights soon! Stopped in around 5 o'clock- they close at 6 and stop doing tastings at 5:30- no exceptions which was sad because they had two groups come in who were eager to try. Maybe list that on your website? They have several flight options for 12 dollars. I enjoyed the wine- you got to try several different grape varieties- but at 24-35 dollars a bottle- it's not really worth the long stay. They also don't offer wine by the glass which I think is unfortunate. Nice people, service was good- they may just be catering to certain clientele. read more

My husband and I stopped in San Saba on our way back from San Angelo, and I had been wanting to check out this winery for a while, I had one of their wines at the Grapevine wine bar in Gruene. This place is an unexpected gem, unpretentious in a friendly town where people learning the names of seasonal visitors and deer hunters is the norm. The wine however suggests something far more than fancy. I have visited many wineries - in California as well as Texas - but have never had such an enjoyable tasting experience as what I've had here. While I have historically bought a bottle or maybe two at some wineries (sometimes out of sympathy), my first tasting at Wedding Oak made me want to buy multiple bottles each of several different varieties - white and red. My recommendations: Terra Blanc, Terra Rouge, Regency Bridge Red, Tioja (the absolute best), Sangiovesse, and Tempranillo. read more

Really nice place. The girls that work there were very friendly, accommodating and informative. We got a little mini tour and education on wines. We were told of a new sparkling wine that would hopefully come out around Christmas time, just in time for a special family wedding.
