I was in San Saba for a quick trip to see my Mom at a new care home there and found Brew D Brewhouse. As a craft beer lover when I saw brewhouse... I had to stop in and I'm so glad I did. I had a very yummy couple Of beers and all you can eat catfish dinner. The catfish tasted fresh and clean (not muddy at all) hot fries, crisp coleslaw, and spicy beans completed the meal. It was all so good (maybe a little salty but that's just me. The main event was the beer, I had a blonde that was hazy and so so yummy, then a honey brew beer that was fresh and light and not too sweet. They had the craft brews but also the regular Bud and Bud Light and all the rest that some folks enjoy. The service was fast and efficient, the place was clean, food fresh and hot and the beer was fresh and cold! I will be stopping in again. read more

A very nice surprise finding this place. The server was so sweet. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name to give her credit. Ordered a glass of a Texas wine that was very good. The steak finger basket is a chicken fried steak cut in strips and served with fries and gravy. Very delicious l. The combo sandwich sounds like a club, but it's not. It's like a hot grilled sandwich with ham, turkey and bacon. Yummy! If you're in the area, definitely worth giving them a try. Also, they have a motel behind the restaurant. We were in town to see Gorham Falls and came in for a pre hike lunch. They have tables spaced for distancing, no staff in masks. Our waiter was very friendly, everyone seemed happy with their food. The Ruben did not have the typical corned beef, so that was a disappointment. The sandwich was big, I probably would've had more if the comin filling had been what I anticipated, but in fairness, the menu might have said what it was, I read Ruben and s stopped reading. The fried pickes were good, three of us killed them in a few minutes. I'd say order 2 if there are 4 or more people who want to eat them. read more

Everything about this place is such a pleasant experience. The food is certainly amazing but the staff is what makes it extra special. They are so fun and friendly every time we go. And while going out to eat in our current economy is more difficult, they offer daily specials that make it more affordable. I really appreciate that right now and wish more restaurants did that. They also have local wines to enjoy for those who don't drink beer. read more

We came in a half hour before closing because the listing in maps told us they would be open for another hour and a half, but anyway... They served us promptly our food was delicious the service was friendly and with the exception of the thunderstorm that briefly blew threw the atmosphere was very nice. I could've easily passed this place up but curiosity got the better of me and took a peek in. Surprisingly on the menu as a lettuce wrap which I would not have suspected in this town. Overall better than we expected and happy it was so. The use of green chili's in the queso was a great choice. We ordered a piece of homemade chocolate pie, the consistency wasn't like my mom's (almost like pudding) instead it had a thicker quality to it and it was good and unique. Yes, tasty. Fresh beer, great range and flavors, sampled the jalapeño beer. First time going to Bar D Brewhouse and what can I say the sever was not good and one server was not friendly or polite had to wait on refills for thirty minutes and the food portions was very sad for the price and then to wait a whole ass hour for the food and when it came out three of the plates were plates and two the food was so hot it melt through the plastic and then you can tell that the fries went to the microwave to be warmed up and for the cheese to be melted, and when looking around the restaurant other customers had glass plates. True Texas brew house. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Their beers are good! My favorite was the Hoppin Jalepeno. Just perfect on a hot day. The chips are homemade and so good as well. We will definitely stop by here again on our way to the lake. read more

I stopped at Bar D Brewhouse only to sample their beers. The reviews I read were positive, but I wasn't happy with the beers there. I arrived at opening and was the first one in the place. The girl at the bar was very friendly and was fun to talk to. Bar D's definitely has a local feel to it. I tried a flight of 8 beers. A normal flight is 10 beers for $11.50, but they were out of 2 beers which wasn't a big deal. I did like the fact that Bar D's offered all their beers in one flight. The beers were very strong in ABV with most in the 7% range so be careful if you consume in large quantity. The taste of all the beers were extremely weak and could use more of it. The selection was large but the lack of flavor made it hard to distinguish between beers. The Honey and Porter were ok but not worth me consuming a pint of them. As food goes, the locals recommended to like their pulled pork. My heart was set on Coopers in Llano so food wasn't an option. The all you can eat fish fry was popular among the locals too. read more

The two girls behind the counter were working their tails off but it was hard to keep up with the restaurant full. They offer a flight of about 10 beers- they're all variations of one beer so it wasn't knock your socks off great- all pretty mediocre except for the Jalapeño and Mesquite beer. Both were an experience- I don't think I could drink a whole mesquite beer but worth a sip! Just stopped in and tried the smoked pork chop special for the day. Came with a decent salad and plain Mac and cheese. I'm unsure what they did to the pork but was extremely plain tasting smoky and dry. Would not recommend no seasoning on any of there food what so ever. read more

Not a bad place to eat, considering the size of the town. I ate the chicken strips (wasn't terribly hungry), which came with fries and gravy. They were the usual, frozen/fried version, but tasted fine. Would've went with something other than gravy to dip though. My husband ordered the tex-mex fried chicken and tells me it was very tasty. Prices were very reasonable, for the type of food available. They also have a homemade root beer available, which I happily turned into a float. The beer is all homemade on site by the owner, Larry, and there is a large variety of choices from an IPA, to a Blond, and everything in between. We even got to glance at his set-up out back. Very rustic, but it adds to the local homemade feel. The taste of the beer was excellent, but it was a little flat. We got a sampler of all 9 brews for $11.50, which is on par with the average brewery. Atmosphere was much more like a bar that served food than a restaurant that served beer. Pretty dive-y, but we were happy with our choice for dinner. Larry provided good conversation and the food and beer were pretty good. Worth a stop if you're in the area. read more

I have given this place 2 chances and both times the outcome was the same. Food was not terrible but not good either, but my expectations were not very high to begin with. My issue was the service. Unfortunately for me I was waited on by the same person both times. I am not real sure that the girl who waited on us knows that we are actually paying money to eat there. I thought maybe it was just us but realized real quick that she took pride in one thing...treating people as though they were an inconvenience to her. Heaven forbid that anybody ask her to do her job. She seemed to enjoy treating people like shit. She is a bad representation for ANY business and for this reason I will not be going back.
