We were in town to see Gorham Falls and came in for a pre hike lunch. They have tables spaced for distancing, no staff in masks. Our waiter was very friendly, everyone seemed happy with their food. The Ruben did not have the typical corned beef, so that was a disappointment. The sandwich was big, I probably would've had more if the comin filling had been what I anticipated, but in fairness, the menu might have said what it was, I read Ruben and s stopped reading. The fried pickes were good, three of us killed them in a few minutes. I'd say order 2 if there are 4 or more people who want to eat them.

While driving to Midland for Thanksgiving, we pulled up Yelp and boy! Did y'all lead us to the right place!!! Ice cold Miller lite for me and a beer flight for my husband and son (not a bad one in their opinion!) it's truly a family run establishment w the owner's daughter waiting on us w a happy, helpful spirit and a beautiful smile. Our food was delivered quickly and so yummy! I loved the charming, rustic ambiance, too!

The potions were more than generous. Homemade steak fingers and chicken fried steak were breaded just right. We all loved the homemade salsa. Our mom said it was the best frito-pie. She could eat it everyday.

I could've easily passed this place up but curiosity got the better of me and took a peek in. Surprisingly on the menu as a lettuce wrap which I would not have suspected in this town. It was light tasty and the lettuce leaves were big and plentiful and easily wrapped the ingredients. Clean tables were again modest and clean.

If you happen to find yourself in San Saba, this is a must stop. Once you enter the not so flashy restaurant, you immediately feel a comfort overcome yourself rather that be from the amazing smells of the home cooked food or the smile from Mrs Pearl serving her homemade pies. The beer is bar D none. So sit back, grab a brew and enjoy life a little bit, the San Saba way.

    nasty ass chicken wrap

First time going to Bar D Brewhouse and what can I say the sever was not good and one server was not friendly or polite had to wait on refills for thirty minutes and the food portions was very sad for the price and then to wait a whole ass hour for the food and when it came out three of the plates were plates and two the food was so hot it melt through the plastic and then you can tell that the fries went to the microwave to be warmed up and for the cheese to be melted, and when looking around the restaurant other customers had glass plates. Overall would not recommend on going back!!!!

Me: here on Wednesday at 1 pm. Open but not.

BDB is just great people, food and atmosphere. Favorite place in San Saba. I do wish they'd bring back the Ribeye.

A warning: If you eat Weinerschnitzel in Vienna, you will be ruined for life on most of the…read moreversions you find elsewhere. But I was stupid, and hungry, and ordered what looked like the specialty of the house at Eve's Café. In fact, it looked like what they called a Wienerschnitzel was the basis for all sorts of schnitzel variations with different toppings and gravy. That should've been an extra warning for me. To be fair, the description on the menu said that what you would get was a pork chop, and that is what I got. It was a little bit tough, which I suspected in advance, watching the people at the next table, sewing on theirs. The breading was weird in a way that's hard to describe. It was somewhat over-seasoned, a little bit hard, and left an aftertaste that was slightly chemical. An even worse sin by Texas standards, it was small, as in the recommended meat portion size for healthy eating, about the size of my hand, minus the fingers. My side of onion rings had the same breading. And even though I am generally a gravy hog, I didn't especially care for the brown gravy that came with my meal. The German dill salad probably had some dill in it somewhere, but it was all drowned in so much mayonnaise-based dressing, I couldn't really taste it, and the whole thing turned into soup before I finished. This all really sounds terrible, but it wasn't actually terrible. I ate all of it except for the soupy salad, but it just never rose beyond competent, when I had gotten my hopes up for some good German food. As I looked around at what others were eating, I really wished I had ordered one of the fabulous-looking sandwiches, burgers, or bratwurst. Those are harder to mess up. The restaurant itself has a nice location on the Square in Lampasas, and a charming vibe. The Thursday lunch crowd was good sized so it looks like a popular local place. The service was very friendly and pretty quick--maybe little TOO quick, as if my schnitzel might've been waiting for me under a heat lamp. Once I'd finished, I was still a little hungry, and considered ordering a slice of their Black Forest Cake. But I have had Black Forest Cake in Bavaria, and I simply couldn't bear another disappointment.

So this place was recommended, so I had to go. The restaurant is a small establishment, with…read morewonderful vibes. The inside was old fashioned, kind of a western twist. Any ways the waiters was friendly and welcoming. She took our oder quickly and brought us libations. The food looked good and tasted outstanding! The meat was soft and the brown gravy was on point. Furthermore the restrooms are super clean and roomy. Looks like there is only one cook, it might take a minute for your order but worth waiting for. Stay hungry my friends!
