Our Todos Santos destination wedding was an absolute magical and beautiful dream come true! Our dream was made possible due to the hard work and vision of Aimée Newlander with Wedding by Aimée. Aimée recognized our needs and values from the very start, and then she enhanced them with her extensive expertise in destination and 'slow' weddings. She provided us with excellent options for sustainable and local vendors in the Todos Santos area. For example, Aimée sourced hand-made, authentic pottery from a local artisan family for our wedding. Early on, Aimée identified our respect for nature and animals in our relationship and recommended locally made traditional Mexican animal bud vases for our dinning floral design and guest mementos. The end product was absolutely gorgeous and perfect in regard to aesthetics and our values. It warms our hearts that we supported a rural local artisan family through our union. She trekked down to Coronado twice to look at venues for us and ultimately to meet us in person when we made a trip there. My husband works 50+ hours a week and between working full time and being in graduate school myself, one of the most amazing gifts Aimée gave us was taking over all vendor management and contracts at 4 weeks out. While that final month is normally the most stressful for couples, we were able to go about our busy lives secure in our knowledge that Aimée had everything under control and if anything actually needed our attention or input, she would reach out. Our wedding day was an absolute fairy tale. As with all weddings and events, I'm sure there were a few hiccups. We want to start by saying that this is a very sad and difficult review to write. We were drawn to Aimée because of her stated focus on mindful, sustainable weddings and hired her to be our day-of wedding coordinator. When we hired her, we were well into our wedding planning process (with a very well-developed vision) and she sold us on her ability to help us execute our vision while ensuring we had the time and space to be fully present on our wedding day. Unfortunately, the service and experience she promised us never came to fruition. Throughout the planning process, our communications with Aimée were confusing and jumbled. Her emails were long and disorganized, with many typos. Often, when we thought we were on the same page, it later became clear that things had been lost in translation. She told us she was very used to DIY weddings, yet later insisted we hire an extra assistant because of the amount of DIY elements. Due to an unexpected sickness, Aimée understandably missed our one in-person vendor walk-through (she sent her assistant, Jake) but proceeded to follow up with all vendors via email after the walk-through asking the same questions that had already been discussed at length and answered in person. There were multiple instances in which it appeared that information we provided to Aimée never made it to the intended party (caterer, florist, etc.). Our venue had no idea that rental drop-off and set-up was happening Friday morning, something Aimée should have made very clear. All of these hiccups, of course, made us nervous but we chose to trust Aimée, hoping everything would come together on our wedding day. Unfortunately, the personal, high-touch, detail-oriented service that Aimée promised never materialized. She was far less prepared and organized than we were. Once our wedding began, we never saw Aimée, despite many assurances from her that she would be our go-to person throughout the evening. Many important elements of our decor and vision were forgotten or misused, despite hours of discussion and meticulous prep we'd done to prepare Aimée. Our lovingly handmade photo displays were not displayed until the bride asked where they were; they were then placed in the dark theater that was intended only for dancing. No candles or flowers were placed throughout the garden, on cocktail tables, bar back, etc. until the bride tracked down a team member and asked that they be put out. Our guest favors were placed on a separate table from the sign explaining the favors, rendering them unidentifiable as guest gifts. Many guests expressed confusion about where to sit, where to find the dancing, etc. because of the lack of guidance, and even incorrect instructions, from Aimée's team. The bridesmaids had to step in at multiple points to help with things Aimée's team had promised - arranging the bride's train, assisting with the bride's makeup post-ceremony, helping VIPs figure out where to sit, etc. The large barn doors in the dancing space were never opened, despite a long conversation about the need for good ventilation for COVID safety. Sadly, the list goes on and on. To give credit where credit is due, Aimée did help us find our incredible florist, Amy Rawling of Blue Moon Blooms, as well as our caterer, Five Star Catering, and a very kind dog-sitter who watched our fur baby on our wedding day. We're grateful for the connections she shared with us. After the wedding, Aimée never reached out to check in. My husband called her multiple times before finally calling her assistant who told Aimée to call us. When we raised our concerns with Aimee, she was, for the most part, defensive, argumentative, and unwilling to take responsibility for the mistakes that were made. She was focused on providing excuses and explanations (wind, too many DIY items, unexpected on-site issues, etc.) for what had gone wrong. She did not demonstrate any curiosity about how she could have delivered a better experience nor any true compassion for the stress we felt on our wedding day. A simple acknowledgment of what went wrong and apology would have gone a long way. We were hopeful that we could have a respectful, honest conversation with Aimée following the wedding and were extremely dismayed to part ways on such a sour note. It's worth noting that the bride has worked in event planning for quite a few years and understands better than anyone that last-minute things always come up and require problem-solving, flexibility, competence, and creativity. That's exactly why we hired a day-of coordinator. Unfortunately, for the hefty price we paid and the expectations Aimée set about the service she would provide, the outcome was a deep disappointment. Aimee is the kind of person you don't get to meet or interact with every day. We met her by a sort of happy accident, and quickly knew that we couldn't pull this off without her. She was so nurturing and at the same time has everything on the ball, I felt completely at ease during the planning process. She is just the right amount assertive, and asks a lot of questions to make sure she knows exactly what you want. There are many reframes so that she is positive everyone is on the same page. We had about a year to work with her and create a vision-one that was so incredibly enhanced by her participation. We were married on 11/2/13 at the Monarch Cove Inn, and were absolutely graced by the weather gods. We've heard from family and friends that our wedding was either the best wedding they ever went to or is in their top 5. Any sort of a shindig I'd put together on my own would never have received such accolades. Family is something very important to Aimee, and she urged us to include some special heirlooms and writings to grandparents who were no longer with us on our day, and they absolutely made the reception. It's been the first wave of holiday get togethers so we're seeing family just a few weeks after the wedding, and I'm still getting so many compliments on all of the touches Aimee encouraged us to include. Aimee is your advocate: we had a few snafus with vendors, and she was always there to offer guidance on how to handle it or to fix whatever was wrong herself. I'm shocked by some of the other reviews on this page, as I never found Aimee to be anything other than incredibly organized, timely and genuine. I gave her a break during peak wedding season, recognizing that she had many other blushing brides to work with, but even in those hectic times, I felt like I was still on her radar. I completely trust Aimee, and I think that you will too. She is a realist, and I can't say it enough: your advocate through the entire process. I've gushed about her so many times, I think some of my family was thinking ok, ok, what is the deal with Aimee? After meeting her, everyone has had nothing but amazing things to say as well. It was by accident that Amanda and I met Aimée. We had spent the better part of two months looking for a venue. While we certainly wanted our wedding to be unique, more importantly we wanted our wedding to be us. But after two months, we were about to give up, and would have selected one of several venues that were beautiful but not perfect. Thankfully, when were nearing rope's end, we met Aimée. We hadn't intended on working with a coordinator, but Green Oaks Creek Farm appeared close to what we were looking for. So we called Aimée and arranged to meet and visit the farm. Walking away from that first meeting, we knew right away that we had found exactly what we were looking for. In addition to a beautiful farm for our outdoor wedding, Aimée was tireless and amazing in helping us put together the most perfect and beautiful wedding that was so quintessentially us. Aimée took the time to build a relationship with us to make that happen. In getting to know us, Aimée got to know the wedding that we wanted. She was able to help us fill in details of our wedding that we would not have otherwise been able to ourselves (the trombonist leading us from the cocktail hour to the reception - that was Aimée's idea). Aimée does her job because she truly wants couples to have the day that will be most special to them. Besides helping us put our vision into focus, Aimée did all of the things you would want from a coordinator. She made multiple trips to meet us at the farm, met with us in Santa Cruz, had several meetings with us over Skype, and communicated with us on a regular basis. She's super thorough and organized, which was particularly great in the two weeks leading up to the wedding when she took sole responsibility of coordinating with vendors. Her experience in the Bay Area also helped us immensely as we were able to use several of her recommendations for our vendors. As my wife and I moved from SF to Seattle, we realized (although well immersed in our wedding plans) that we needed help. We searched high and low through thumbtack, google searches, yelp, etc.) for a day of coordinator. We had a limited budget and were needing someone to review our wedding plans, and help us firm up timelines etc. and just look professionally at our DIY planned wedding and make sure we weren't missing anything (being first-timers!). Aimee was great from the very first moment. She was able to work with our crazy work schedules and allowed us to chat via Skype when we couldn't meet in person. She was attentive and enthusiastic, and made it very easy to trust that she knew exactly what she was doing without ever stepping on or ignoring our requests (even if they were outlandish). When it came down to it, we had a perfect wedding it. It rained (for the first time in ages in Monterey) on our wedding weekend. Our officiant needed replacing the week of the wedding. Our best man wore the wrong tux colors. And our venue was super laxed and did not end up preparing the venue to accommodate our seating arrangements, nor did they keep their end of the deal to help decorate our tables. Aimee revised our timelines with our officiant changes. She made the executive decision to tarp our venue and made sure we felt comfortable with the plan changes to the layout so that we could think about other things. She and her assistant, Sarah (also so lovely!) volunteered to take on helping decorate our venue where the venue couldn't. And she kept our families relaxed despite their personalities (LOL!). Where I had one plan of our table layouts, she and Sarah tastefully simplified it and in the end, I was actually thrilled that they didn't overdue the tables like I had requested. I truly believe the ticket to a successful wedding is as follows: 1. Know what details are your priorities, and what details aren't. 2. Limit your vision on those things that aren't worth it. 3. Hire the right vendors... Because the vendors take over when you lose your mind the weekend of your wedding, and they make sound judgement calls where you can't. And they perfect the details you predetermined were worth it. Aimee and Sarah were angels sent for our wedding perfection. Our guests raved about how "cute" and "sweet" they were. These ladies were physically exhausted by the end of the night and still smiling and most concerned about our happiness over anything else. They created and forced moments for us to have a chance to breathe and take it all in. And all of our other vendors were so pleased to have them as well. Review for the fabulous, supportive venue search Aimee provided for me and my fiancé (free of charge, to boot): Mark and I are new to the area, and I fortuitously called Aimee while doing some searching online for a venue she does bookings for. She suggested we meet in person for a discussion about what we want out of a venue. At that meeting, she really got to know us and made us feel comfortable and relaxed around her. We had a good time and felt more excited about the venue choosing process because of her happy and friendly attitude. Over the course of several weekends, Aimee kept in touch with me via email, sent directions, and planned several venue tours for us, and accompanied us for most of them. She even planned us an entire "beach day", touring venues along route 1, and walked us through our first choice venue. The last weekend, we felt conflicted with lots of great options and confusion about how much each one would truly cost. Aimee showed us one last venue option and brought us down the road to a nearby winery. There, with some glasses of wine, we took a pragmatic look at the worst-case cost of each of our top choices. Then, we discussed what qualities we liked best of our choices. She then left us alone to think it over, and due to her help, we found the best place for us. We hired Aimee as our coordinator after our venue search, and have had our first planning meeting, where we ran over our thoughts and ideas regarding the master timeline. If there is ever a time in life when you need someone dependable, caring, honest, hard working, and dedicated it has to be on your wedding day! Aimee was all these things and more for myself and my husband on November 8, 2020. First of all, we decided to get married during a pandemic year and make it a go with a micro wedding (~40 people) and a destination wedding at that, as I live down in Southern California. I contacted Aimee by her rave reviews from the airbnb owner of the Chateau I was renting for the venue in Carmel Valley, CA. She has TONS of experience that you can witness yourself on her website, but I must say the experience was even more evident when each vendor I worked with spoke so highly of her! It was almost, "Oh Aimee!! She's so wonderful!" at the start of each conversation! She has the best line up of vendors to recommend that fit what you envision, sets a timeline beautifully, met with us frequently every few weeks (via zoom since it was during the Covid stay at home order), followed up almost the same day with her email correspondence, and was even available by text if need be. Her team I also worked with was Jake and Wendy, both of which were also a pleasure to work with! BUT, the BIGGEST thing anyone needs is a good PLAN B for anything possible on such an important day as your wedding. For us it was the weather and the Covid pandemic. First of all, Aimee wrote a well detailed email for our guests regarding Covid safety precautions we were taking for guests to feel comfortable attending an event and sure enough ALL our guests rsvp'd YES as that email made everything clear and answered all questions. Secondly, weeks before the wedding, wildfires came within miles of our venue and Aimee kept us updated with the current containment % and contacted the owner as well for even more detailed updates! (Thankfully, it was spared within just miles!). Third, wind and rain attacked the weekend of our wedding and Aimee was able to hold a tent for us to use as covering as the Covid circumstance required an outdoor event. She came through TIME AND AGAIN! She is so amazing at what she does but even more than that, she is the most beautiful person full of love, and exuding joy, and kindness. Work with this woman! This review is way overdue! My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Aimee on what turned out to be the most memorable and fun days of our lives. Roughly seven months before our big day, I finally decided it was time to call someone to help us out with planning! We had secured my dream venue down in Santa Cruz, however the big catch was that the venue came with nada. When trying to work with the vendor it became very obvious that a recommended vendor list was not an option and we could not rely on them for any help. This meant my fiance and I would be planning everything in an area we weren't from nor lived in. After checking a few places and meeting with a couple of wedding coordinators, we came across Aimee. I reached out via email and within a week the three of us were meeting at Sports Basement in SF. Instantaneously, my now husband and I knew that we wanted to work with Aimee we just needed to fit her services into our budget. While we hadn't planned on the costs of hiring a coordinator, Aimee was able to work with us to create a package that met our needs and budget.
