DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE! I ordered my bridesmaids dresses from here in May and I was told they would be here in July. I get a phone call today stating that the owner Jennifer gerwick has up and left and taken all of the money. Meaning, a month in a half before my wedding I am out almost a grand and will not be getting my dresses. Need less to say this place is a scam, will steal your money and then won't refund or back up there company and make things right. Save your self the heartache. read more

I have to begin by saying that 9 times out of 10 most people who will get on here and take the time to write a review are probably upset. However, there are COUNTLESS other people who have a wonderful experience who do not take the time to write a good review. Personally I believe that if people walk into a place expecting to have a bad experience, that's what they'll get. I am not one of those people. I love Weddings with Joy and I will tell you all my reasons why. I first found Weddings with Joy for my best friend who wanted to try on a designer gown she fell in love with online for her upcoming wedding. We made an appointment and worked with Amy. She has become like family to us, but more on that later. Amy took my friend through the process of trying on the dress she was in love with online, as well as many other dresses. My friend picked her dress that day, which was a completely different shape than she thought she wanted, but she was completely elated with her decision. My friend picked out everything else to go with her gorgeous gown and when she was done, Amy told her that because she chose a dress that had been in the store for a long time they would let her pick out of their jar of percentages off (anywhere from 10% to 25% off)! She picked the 25% off and was ecstatic! Also, they have a layaway program with no interest, so it makes it easier to get the dress you want. You have to make a down payment on the dress which I believe was 40% of the total cost of the dress (I don't remember the exact %, so make sure to check with them about that) and then it's a once a month payment for the next 3 months. In December 2013 my fiance proposed to me and I knew I wanted to get my dress at Weddings with Joy. I did visit a few other competitors, but Amy really took the time and care to help me. My first trip there I fell in love with something that was way above my budget and it came in a color combination that I knew wouldn't work. Amy then went to work on trying to get as much info for me as she could. The dress was from the black label of an Italian designer and she called the designer's rep to see if they made it in an ivory or white. They unfortunately didn't, but they sent her a dress they made in ivory that was basically the same shape and style as the first dress. Once it came in, she called me and told me to come in a try on the new dress. It is the one I purchased. Amy knew exactly what I wanted and needed. I LOVE my dress. And it was within my budget. I cannot begin to thank Amy and the whole crew at WWJ for all their help and kindness to me and my family throughout the whole process. Amy is wonderful and I personally have worked with her twice. Once as the best friend of the bride and now the bride. I would recommend them to anyone I know. Bottom line, go check it out. Take all these reviews with a grain of salt and go decide for yourself. It won't hurt anything to make an appointment and try on some dresses. We brides are inundated with constant appointments during the planning of a wedding. One more place won't kill you. read more

This store is under new ownership. When I arrived at WWJ, I straight up asked if all of the problems of the past had been corrected, since that's just my blunt personality. Courtney is the new owner and she's doing great! Courtney has a fantastic selection of beautiful dresses in all price ranges and sizes. I am super indecisive and came in thinking I had an idea of what I wanted, but then changed course. After trying on probably 50 dresses I found the one! Courtney asks great questions as to how you're feeling about the dress, is not pushy in her approach, and had great patience with indecisive me. She wants you to find the dress for you so you have that bridal moment. It was funny that when I put on my dress, she saw it as soon as I saw it that we had found a winner. I think her exact words were "Crystal, this is a game changer!" And it was! I love my dress, my mother loves my dress, my best friend loves my dress and I can't wait to wear the dress of my dreams to marry my best friend. I visited weddings with Joy looking for the perfect wedding dress. I was greeted by the owner Courtney as I came in the door. She asked me a few questions to help direct me on my search. The gowns were gorgeous, and the shop felt like a boutique. Her customer service and knowledge helped calm my nerves. I liked her expertise and attentiveness much better than when I went into the the big nation wide chain. I especially liked the high quality accessories she has at the front of the store. This place is just perfect thanks to the wonderful owner, Courtney! The first time I went in she was more than happy to let me look all around even though I wasn't ready to purchase anything. She even let me try on a few dresses to get a feel for what I liked. I purchased my dress elsewhere, but when I returned to look for a veil, Courtney helped me find the PERFECT one for me. Do not give any of your money to Weddings with Joy - this business is a fraud. I purchased a $1,200 wedding dress with Weddings with Joy in December 2014 and promised that my dress would arrive 6/2015. 6/2015 came and went and I had not heard from the shop so I called. After multiple promises from Jennifer at Weddings with joy that my dress would arrive in just two weeks more, I waited and waited, until a few weeks away from my wedding. 4 weeks from my wedding, i finally asked for a refund so that I could afford a new dress. Jennifer promised that she would issue a 100% refund - but the money never returned to my bank account. I have had to file credit card fraud claims to get my money back. Throughout this, I was never contacted by weddings with joy, I always had to call them. They were terrible at returning phone calls. Dishonest, fraudulent and poor communication - please do not let your wedding dress experience be ruined by weddings with joy like mine was. read more

When I started planning my wedding, I kept seeing this cute wedding boutique and wondered how to get an appointment or look around. From out side it just looked that inviting. Now it's not all their mistakes. I had stress and one dress( for my bridesmaids) had to be measured at my house, and things had been moved around a lot! But when I finally got in there to look at dresses ( my bridesmaids did have an appointment) we got ignored the whole time, and told to hurry do to a bride coming in. We where also told to grab any dress we liked and they would try to help us best we can. With most of the sizes being for the smaller women it became hard to pick a dress. Because no one wants to pick and pay for a dress they didn't even get to try on. We had to go in a few different times. And I always went with my bridesmaids, do to this being a fun time in life and if they had questions. And each time we got set aside. I am honestly glad that I didn't get my wedding dress from them. With the way everything turned out. This shop appears to have a certain kind of people they prefer to see in the dress shop and I think they either need to work on a few things and act like unbiased professionals, or figure out a way to reach out to the group of people they want to see. read more

I would not recommend this bridal shop, at my appointment there were 2 other appointments scheduled at the same time, which would have been fine since they have 3 dressing rooms but only 1 podium and since the other two girls were always on it all over my pictures were taken over by the racks. The dresses my consultant chose for me were all the plunging neckline that I had said I didn't want they were dirty and one if them smelled so strongly of fish I couldn't stand to be in it. Did the previous customers with their less than stellar reviews go to the same shop? The nicest ladies work here. They take care of the dresses (including the samples) as if it were their own - keep in mind most stores trample all over them or lay them in a pile - these could be someone's future dream dress! Yikes. There's a lot of heart here at this store. I felt it from the moment I walked in. They bent over backwards to make sure I had a great experience. They worked with the vendor to get my dress ordered (with less than an ideal lead time from me). They didn't overcharge me for the dress - did you know some other dress shops tack on a few hundred dollars on top of the manufacturer's retail and a few hundred more for a rush fee? If they can avoid it from the manufacturers, they do and are honest about it. They give advice like a good girl pal, and that's solid sisters. Solid. High five to Amy for having my back. I was very happy with my experience here recently while helping a friend find her dress. The owner was on site and was very informative, as was the bridal consultant. We had made an appointment which can gave us a bigger fitting room and allowed for several friends and family members to help the future bride choose her gown. Although the reviews from the past made me a little skeptical, once inside I could see that new ownership had really taken charge and was working hard to gain back its good image. The place looked like it had already been updated inside, and it was clear the owner was working hard. I would definitely shop here again for myself, in the future, and will recommend it to friends as well. I would definitely recommend making an appointment though, as it allows you to have more one on one time with a bridal consultant. read more

The owner was extremely rude and unprofessional from start to finish. When I told her that my wedding date was four months away and once I told her my price range she basically said she had nothing for me. Amazingly, I found a very inexpensive dress that I loved! I made an appointment for my sister and I to try on bridesmaid dresses two weeks ago over then phone. I spoke to the owner, Angela. I explained to her that I would email her the designer and style numbers of the dresses that we wished to try, as the bride and wedding are out of state. The dresses are a special color and would need to be ordered. She was very kind over the phone. I emailed her on May 31. I never received a response but thought I would go to the appointment anyway. My sister and I arrived to discover that the email was received but no one bothered to respond and they don't even carry the designer we asked about. Annoying and frustrating. Now we have have the bride wait on us to complete the order while we find another store. This is not my first negative experience with this store. I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

My fiancée and I went to the wedding expo in Seattle today with a friend of ours. The woman who greeted us asked who the bride was and my fiancée and I answered that we both were (we're gay) she asked where the groom was and we told her there wasn't one. She replied shocked and asked if we were marrying each other with a look of disdain. She went on to mention that the dressing rooms were "a naked fest" suggesting we would enjoy all the women undressing. It was so uncomfortable for us on a day where we just wanted to be brides to be like any other person. My fiancée later cried as this was just the worst of a number of mean spirited comments we received as well as a complete lack of service. There was one point in the group dressing room where the same sales person (loose term here) just stared at my fiancée while my friend and I helped her try on her dress with no help from any of the sales people. We felt like we were being made fun of and felt completely unwelcome. In contrast when we went to the booth next to this one we were met with initial questions as to who was shopping and the sales person went right into helpful dialogue ("do you want to see each other's dresses ahead of time," "will you be wearing similar colors?" Etc) I ended up buying my dress there and got a great price along with being treated like a person. This type of unprofessional and discriminatory rudeness on a day that was so special to us (our first time trying on wedding dresses) was a huge disappointment and incredibly hurtful. read more

Gorgeous gowns!! The staffing is absolutely amazing up until you buy. I made 3 payments on my gown, right before last payment I'm informed not everything I ordered was there so additional billing was needed. I was also told they would have someone take it in & hemmed for me as well as breast cups sewn in. Now I am aware a seamstress does this but I was told it would be done for me. I get there to make my final payment and have final fitting done, even bring my shoes as I was told to for length.. Get there, one of my items wasn't in that I was called & told was in.. Offered me the one laying on dress room floor? No thank you. Cups weren't sewn in, I was handed a card & told I need to schedule with a seamstress on my own & my dress cannot stay there since its been paid for... If I could have given a 0 I would have. This place was a pain from the get go but they were the only Allure vendor in the area. When I originally ordered my bridesmaid dress I told the lady I wanted an 8 but she insisted on measurements that I would be a 10. I told her I wanted an 8 due to my build but she insisted on a 10 and ordered a 10. They told me I had to pay in full at the time of the phone call for the dress which I was like whatever I need the dress. They told me it would be 8-12 weeks for the dress to arrive which I thought was crazy but I know that is how it works. So I paid for a rush fee and a fee to have them ship it to me. The groom-to-be passed away and I called Wedding's with Joy to cancel the order (fully aware they had no return policy but I know Allure does - you can Google their return label). The manager refused to refund me despite the circumstances so I took matters into my own hands and tried to contact Allure but they refused to work with me and said they only will work with my vendor. So back to step one I went. The manager then offered me 1/2 back IF i surrendered the dress to them so they could sell it, I felt that was unethical and refused and disputed the charge with my C/C Company. After weeks of going back and forth and Wedding's with Joy telling my C/C Company I already had the merchandise at time of purchase (which was a lie), them never calling me to tell me my dress was in, them never shipping me my dress even though I paid for it and their paperwork said so, and their manager calling me a liar and being rude and cutting me off, them being unable to provide me with a copy of my invoice, her refusing to approve a return label from Allure, I was refunded completely thanks to my C/C Company. This place had no customer service, no ethics, and no heart. I'm glad my C/C Company was as helpful as they were but if you decide to go with Wedding's with Joy just know you should document EVERYTHING (who you talked to, when,date, what they said) and if you purchase an Allure dress through them know you can return a bridesmaid dress (use Google to search Allure bridesmaid return form don't listen to the manager who says Allure has a no return policy she's lying) and fill it out and screenshoot what you typed before you hit submit and screen shot the page that shows you clicked submit. I hope no one has to go through what I did with this place but just tread lightly if you do use them. read more

I'll admit, I was a little skeptical of Weddings With Joy when I saw their website - it's out of date, and doesn't come even close to showing what their wonderful inventory has to offer. I'm so glad I went anyway. The shop is quite small, and at first we were a little worried my fairly large party of skeptics (Mom, Godmom, two bridesmaids) would overwhelm the place. It worked out just fine. Don't let the look of the building turn you away. I have to say Amy, the woman who helped me chose my dress, was absolutely wonderful. Before I went to face the crowd (my moms are not afraid to speak their minds, to say the least) she asked me how the dresses made me feel, if I thought it was the right one, and if it felt like it was "Me". My family fell in love right away with a gorgeous dress that fit me beautifully, but... it wasn't "me". A few dresses later, Amy pulled in a dress that they had told her not even to bother bringing in - they hated it on the hanger! I wasn't convinced, but I trusted her and I am glad I did! It was the perfect dress. Both Amy and Angela were incredibly helpful, patient, and kind, and my dress was just about spot-on to what I had budgeted. I tried on several that I found on the racks, they listened to what I liked and didn't like about each dress to figure out what style I wanted, and brought me the perfect dress! I had the honor of being in a friend wedding and needed to be fitted for a tux. Since i do not live in the area i was fitted at a Mens Wearhouse who does a great job. I then needed to give my measurements to Wedding with Joy It took over a week for them to contact me after i had left a message everyday. The only reason I feel they called me back is because the Bride herself was at the store and told them to call me.Move forward to wedding day my shirt did not fit I ordered a XL vest and got a medium jacket was to tight. I really am a fair-minded person but this shop did not live up to its rumored fame. I was excited to take my best friend shopping here for her dress, however after having to share her appointment with another bride all of us bridesmaids were stuck in the dressing room with her rather than in front of the mirror and had little help from the salesgirl. When it was time for myself to go wedding dress shopping I had an awful experience. I also had to share my appt. with another bride. I overheard my salesgirl saying that I had come just in time for her to get off and acted annoyed by how many dresses I picked out (around 5)...then when I asked her for help she acted weird so instead I asked my friend for help and the salesgirl didn't object! I thought they did a great job, they knew my name very time I came in, and they were very helpful throughout the process! The only things that wasnt perfect was I had them color my shoes and my maid of honor shoes at the same time, and they turned out two different color neither one of them being the right shade, But I never said anything about it. read more

DO NOT GO TO WEDDINGS WITH JOY. I ordered a veil on July 6. They told me it would be available the first week of August. No phone call. I called them on August 23. The lady told me that it was there. Nice, no phone call... ok. So, then I go to pick up the veil that I tried on. She pulls it out of the bag, it is not my veil. I said "that's not my veil" and she insisted it was. I think the bride would know, but whatever. The one that I ordered was one tier, elbow length, with crystals hand-stitched around just the boarder. She ordered a two tier, full length, with ugly beads in a flower design on it. THEN she tells me that she will order 3 veils to the shop that are exactly what I want that will be in within one week....because at this point my wedding is getting close. I told her I moved to Portland but I could pick it up Saturday morning. I got a phone call the next Friday and she tells me that I can pick it up either Friday before they close or the following Wednesday. They were closing for the Labor Day weekend and she forgot to mention that the previous week (sigh*...their empty promises are getting really old at this point). Anyways, I was finally able to go look at it. First of all, she only ordered 2, not 3 veils; second of all, the veils are FULL LENGTH, ugly, cheap and NOT what I wanted at all. I tell her I want my money back and she "can't do that" because she's not the manager and the managers on vacation for a week. I know they say that they want the bride to feel "special" because it's "their day" and they want to make it perfect for you... lies. They want your money. Weddings With Joy is a HUGE waste of time. Maybe go there if they have the product in stock and you can walk the door with it in your hand. But never NEVER order from them. I'm pretty sure you have to be mental to work there. read more

My daughter lives in Lacey, WA and we live in Kansas City. My daughter made an appointment with Weddings with Joy and gave me the web site. I looked at about every dress on their website and saw some gorgeous things BUT they do not post any prices. I called the store and spoke to the assistant who would be helping my daughter, asking her first to PLEASE not tell my daughter that I had called. What I DIDN'T know is that my daughter had already told the sales associate what her budget was. I asked what the price ranges of the gowns in the store were, telling her that "if you put my daughter in an $8000 gown there's no way I can afford it. She told me that the most expensive gown in the store was $3000 but that "the vast majority of the gowns that they carry are in the $1200 to $1400 dollar range". I said that was fine. I was on FaceTime with my mom and husband watching her at her appointment trying on gowns. She found one that was absolutely stunning! I was so happy that we'd found a dress so quickly. After about 45 minutes my daughter called me in tears saying "did you call the bridal shop and give them a different budget?" I didn't know what to say! I told her that, no, I certainly had not given them a different budget, I had only called to be sure that they carried dresses in a reasonable price range. Apparently when my daughter went to pay for the dress it was TWICE her budget and the sales associate told her "Oh, that's ok, your mom called the other night and upped your budget". SO,not only did they ignore my request to NOT let my daughter know I called, they ALSO tried to get her to buy a dress that they KNEW she could not afford. Now my daughter is steaming mad at me and I feel sick that she now loves a dress that she probably cannot own. She is my only daughter and she helped me thru years of cancer treatment from the time she was 15. Now I can't even give her the wedding gown that she loves!!! The women that work here are plain out nasty and rude. They will be nice to you if they think you have money and will be buying all your wedding items from them. After that all your pieces come in at different times and when you call to ask if they are in you getting snotty additudes. I was charged $1239 for my wedding dress and when I got it back the price tag said $1149. When I called and spoke with Jennifer her reply was straight out rude and playing the dumb game saying oh you should be lucky that you got at a discounted price $1239 cause the msrp is $1365. Well I and like many others would be shocked to be charged a price for an item and only to get it and see a lesser price on the tag. You guyes over charged me and don't want to take responsiblity. I see why you guyes have all the negative reviews you have. For anyone thinking about coming here, STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED POORLY AND OVERCHARGED!!! read more

The service was amazing all the way until they took my money. Once I paid in full for my dress in December 2014 I was told my dress would arrive in May 2015. I waited patiently to be contacted but never received notice that my dress had arrived. The first week of June I contacted the shop and was told my dress had shipped out that day. Three weeks later I arrived at the shop and spoke with Jennifer, the owner, and was told that in fact my dress did not ship out in early June as her staff didn't know how to read her log book and that there was a problem with my dress and they didn't know when/ if it was going to arrive. She asked me to give her another week to resolve the problem. When I checked back in the following week she had no new information and offered to return my money in full. During this entire process there was no proactive communication from Weddings with Joy and the staff seems overwhelmed and incompetent in running their business. read more

First I want to say I love my dress and am only writing this review after my wedding because I don't trust this place to of not to try to keep my dress if they seen this before I picked it back up. My first appointment we well and I chose my dress and ordered it right then. I thought everything was going to be great, Wrong, we went back in a few weeks later to have my bridesmaids order there dresses that was a mess they didn't have rooms for them even though we made appointments, we looked past it ordered there dresses and also ordered my moms dress. My dress was supposed to be there early February I called mid February and they didn't have it yet and didn't know where it was or where my bridesmaids dresses were. A few days later my dress showed up and still nothing on the rest of the dresses. So I asked them if we could hold off on me picking mine up till there's cam in nope they couldn't hold it for more then a few days so i told them I would be in the Saturday to get it then. I got there and again they didn't have a room for me to try it on they said I could just take it with me after I paid the remainder I told them no I wasn't paying for it until I tried it on so I had to wait an hour and a half to get into a room to try it on. Then I chose a head piece one of a kind that matched my dress perfectly! Ok great, no they had a problem with there card matches they said The payment didn't go threw and wanted my card again I got right on my bank and showed them right there the money was taken out. Only to check my bank a few days later and they had there bank recharge my card so I payed an extra $1000.00 (mind you this is the owner I am dealing with) I called my bank told them they charged me 2xs and the confirmed I was charged 2xs the same amount 2 days apart. And instructed me to call the owner and ask them to refund the money. I did so but not so quickly did she refund my money it took almost a week for her to do it cuz she had to check her bank and this and that. After she told her bank to charge my card again in a rebatch charge. She knew exactly what she did to take my money 2xs. Them finally my bridesmaids and moms dress was in we all get there only to count 4 dresses not 5 dresses! Where was my mothers dress oh again they didn't know. Then they told me to bring back all the dresses the week before the wedding cuz with 6 dresses one a big ball gown wedding dress it would take them 3 days to steam all the dresses. So Friday exactly a week before the wedding we take them all in and they asked me if I could bring them back on another day cuz they didn't have room for them prior to this I called and made sure they were ready for them all and they told me yeah just bring them in. I told them no they told me it would take 3 days and with 3 days and the days they are closed it would be the day before the wedding they would be done. So they kept them but I had asked them after they steam my dress not to put it back in the base cuz it's big and it would get wrinkles again. Only to get there and my dress was in the bag. My mom made them take it out right away. But the train was still wrinkled so we had to un wrinkle it in the hotel room the night before my wedding. In conclusion this place was not the place I wanted to buy my dress but is the place I found my dress the took money that wasn't there's and were very unaccommodating for being a bridal dress shop!
