I've eaten here in the past and it feels like I'm a guest in the owners home. It's this customer service that brings a sense of welcome ness to the eating experience. The diner is filled with collectibles from vintage cars, pictures, and nic nacs. It's fun to explore while eating. The breakfast is well seasoned and comparable price wise to the inflation cost of the city. Again, what stands out is really good conversation, hearing family in the kitchen, and seeing pictures on the wall. I love supporting these local gems as they are slowly disappearing in a sea of trendy restaurants that last less than 10 years. This diner had been around for close to or over 30 years. I went to place a take out order on the phone, already off to a weird start asking I'm sure if I got the right place because of my area code which yes and I'm only from Yakima lol (509) but live in Seattle. Then, I asked for a country eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce on top, that's just how I like it personally. The person working told me they've never heard of that and if I'm sure which I said yes. Then they go on to comment how weird it is multiple times and ask if I'm pregnant (seriously???). Every time the order would progress I was reminded it was weird. She was very unfriendly, unwelcoming and dismissive. My only coffee refill happened because I asked. She never once asked how things were, or if we needed anything. Saw the previous reviews and wanted to give them a chance because reviews are often exaggerated. The waitress definitely came off as rude the first time I went but that doesn't ever steer me away from solid food. I asked to add something to my food and she told me the chef wasn't going to be happy. I told her not to if she couldn't and she said she would anyway. I definitely felt eyes on me, I'm black, gay etc but again, doesn't really bother me after growing up in a conservative area. The Ambiance is what's giving this place the 1 star, we went in recently and saw they moved some space on the wall for a giant Trump artwork. I generally try to avoid reviewing a restaurant where I didn't actually eat, but this place is sooooo toxic that I have to say something. Walked in late on a weekday morning and were the only customers in the place. When we chose to sit at a table other than the one the server had indicated, she proceeded to slam down flatware in a mini tantrum and complain that she had to set anotheir table for us. Apparently, forks and napkins are super heavy duty work for her. It kind of went downhill from there. The amount of hostility was such that we decided to leave and go elsewhere which was a great decision. I have worked as a server for many years and understand some irritation with guests from time to time, but this was beyond the pale. So I'm praying I didn't pick up any nasty food related contaminants as this spot other than being nasty to peeps of religious or ethnic minorities, is nasty in a way the health department should be aware of which I'm making sure happens. She requested to come here and wanted the nostalgic experience of eating here again. As we walked in, my first impression was we were annoying for showing up. No welcoming, really no communication from staff as you walk in. I don't need a fanfare, but some slight acknowledgment of your presence would have been welcomed. So after being ignored and felt uncomfortable, a waitress came from the back and motioned us towards a table. Unfortunately, we came at a time while they were not busy, there seems to be issues. The waitress argued with the kitchen staff loudly. We tried to ignore the chaos, but the waitress was visibly angry while taking our order. Appears this is a family run spot, so the disagreements seem to be family related. Got the welsh eggs and chicken fried steak. Both were passable but over cooked. Also cold from being languished on the kitchen shelf for too long. After food was dropped off, no further follow up until check was presented. Wanted to order more beverages, but couldn't. This might one of the best hidden gems in lake city, the inside is very busy, lots of random knickknacks, and seating is very limited and it may seem like it's not very clean inside but I have never gotten a dirty dish while eating here. The service is excellent and they're very nice. The food is excellent, portions are pretty good. I usually get the chicken fried steak, the steak is crispy and flavorful, and the hash browns are crispy and not oily at all. But the difference maker from other chicken fried steaks around Seattle and here, is the GRAVY!!!!! We went to the Breakfast Club this morning. Parking was easy to find at 7:00 AM, and the restaurant was almost empty. At this time, they are requiring masks of customers and the staff are masked. I think they did a great job as far as I observed of protecting themselves and others against COVID-19. Apparently the Breakfast Club was a restaurant that was opened in 1985/6 (we asked our waitress). So it is a part of local history-it is kind of cool to see a slice of old Seattle! Their decor is a lot of knick-knacks. It is kind of fun to look at the different stuff they have collected, although it did feel cluttered in parts of the restaurant, like the cabinet filled with dolls and toys-very chaotic. Overall the tables were clean, but a little dusty on the shelves and the walls. I ordered an Eggs Benedict, and my Dad got the Corn Beef Hash. The food was decent-I wish I could have had more options than just the Canadian bacon for the Eggs Benedict. The Eggs Benedict was okay, but the hollandaise needed some extra something/spice/kick. The potatoes were wonderful, and the portion sizes were perfect-not too big or small. Dad liked his food and the coffee was great. I would give this a solid 3/5: their decor and their menu could use a facelift. While I wouldn't want them to give up the personality or heart of their restaurant, I can see how cleanliness can be an issue/inconsistency if there is stuff everywhere. The front of the paper menus could use a reprint-it was just a random big yellow duck. I would have liked more options to tweak the Eggs Benedict (maybe other menu items too?). Personally, I think they are overpriced-I would be willing to come back and pay the prices they have today if they had more flexibility in their menu, did a deep clean and presented their decor more creatively, versus just cramming it wherever it can go-otherwise it just feels like an afterthought. They are capable of more effort for the prices they charge-we are paying for the experience as well as the food. But the parts of their service they have down-potatoes, coffee, and portion size were great. read more

As me and my dad were eating, we saw a big rat walk across the lobby and go back into the hole from which it came. We still ate, but I couldn't help but to wonder how that rat got so big. I got the biscuits and gravy. The sausage was low quality and I barely got any meat. But the biscuits were good! I'm sorry I had such a bad experience here. I can't imagine the health department has ever been here. It has the appearance of an old dirty ripped up shoe. The ceiling tiles are stained, the walls are covered in laminated documents, family photos, movie posters, signs, toys, books (hell, it's like eating in an episode of Hoarders). The food was heavy and greasy, but I knew that it would be going in. The quantity was great, though. We left full. The service was decent, though the wait staff seemed beat-down. I can't imagine quality of life for these folks is that great. One of the owner's kids served us and told us that their credit card service had gone down one day and she couldn't get anyone to respond from their servicer, so she set up a Venmo so customers could pay, and her dad was like, "what's a Venmo?" We all chuckled at her story. I saw the posts about 45 stuff hanging up in the restaurant and was a little wary of eating there. I've seen newer posts claiming there isn't any. There is you just have to know what you're looking for, like I sat next to a signed letter from Wayne La'Pierre thanking the restaurant owner for supporting the NRA in getting Trump elected. It's not in your face but it's there. They must not be blue man group supporters though, as they have a "we don't call police" picture hanging above their NRA Member tin on the wall. The Breakfast Club is such a mixed bag. The food was okay and I noticed that they have an "excellent" rating from the King County Board of Health (apparently they keep it clean where it counts). Otherwise the place is in some disarray, loaded with all sorts of junk and smelled of cigarette smoke when we walked in the door. There's no place anywhere near their location that's open for breakfast. They're sitting on a gold mine and if this place had a Gordon Ramsay style makeover they'd really have something. You know Gordon Ramsey, the asshole chef who comes in and makes over a place in a week....only these guys will need about a month. On the plus side they do have parking behind the building and the waitress was pleasant although she would benefit from having a uniform instead of wearing whatever the first thing was that she drug out of the closet in the morning. If you're in Lake City you know your choices are limited (Mickey D's, Wendy's, Starbucks: not really breakfast). Breakfast Club will do ya just fine. read more

We had one of the WORST experiences ever here today. We walked in for breakfast and nearly an hour later, we walked out, having eaten nothing. While there, we were "served" by one of the most unfriendly waitresses we have ever encountered. And, when it finally became painfully obvious that our food wasn't coming out, she offered no apologies or explanations. We did, however, get to experience she (seemingly the only server in the whole place) and the cook, get into a loud altercation where the "f" word and other expletives were tossed about. OH MY GAWD !!! I'm eating as I type...just have to slow down and enjoy the moment. I love innovation. The "Bacon-wrapped Sausage Roll" is a special today, don't know if it's on the menu every day. It is an amazing combination of all the breakfast meats we love, baked as an almost 1" high by 3-4" diameter patty. The "hashbrowns" are actually cubed russet cottage potatoes, skin-on and twice cooked (absolutely delicious!). With 3 eggs OE and rye toast, this is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Tucked away in the busy streets of Lake City way, lies this cute hole-in-the-wall place. The place itself isn't very big due to the limited seating area. Plus, it gets packed quickly in the morning. So I highly recommend coming in early to beat the morning rush or just be prepared for some waiting. Interior wise, very vintage! Along the walls are full of eclectic decorations that ranges from figurines, weird shapes, art, posters etc etc from the different decades. The place feels a little dingy but at the same time, pretty cozy if you're with friends or on a date. As for food, I've been here a few times and everytime, I can never fully finished a meal. The breakfast portions are fairly big and you definitely do get what you pay for. Some of the items I have tried that are memorable are the: corned beef hash, biscuit and gravy and one of the specials. The homemade corn beef hash was pretty tasty. Not too salty but slightly on the more oily side. The potatoes/hashbrown are homemade as well and has a nice little crunch to them. The biscuit itself was alright (a bit dry and hard) but the gravy definitely makes up for it. The gravy is definitely a must try since it's full of rich flavors and very savory. As for one of the specials (I don't quite remember the name), the dish was very tasty. Full of mushrooms, soft melted cheese, fluffy eggs and bacon, coupled with a side of hashbrowns.....This was yum. Highly recommend trying one of the specials if you can't decide on what to get. Extremely RACIST family owned business. Please don't eat here. I never write reviews, but my experience was so horrible I had to warn others. Extremely dirty inside, and so much clutter there's no way they're able to actually sanitize the place properly. The waitress is rude to anyone who isn't white and even if you're white you'll probably receive horrible customer service - just without the racist remarks. She had made multiple remarks about my ethnicity as well as others in the restaurant under her breath and to the cook in the back. While we were there the waitress's mom, who I assume is the owner, was sitting at the back of the restaurant watching a game - very loudly. She was speaking with the cook and they had made a comment about how the game was already over, and the other team won. She turns off the t.v and the waitress, I kid you not has a full blown tantrum screaming at her mother for turning off the tv - I have never seen anything like it. If you like rodent infested food, dirty tables, racist comments, and your waitress to have a tantrum in the middle of the dining room I recommend you check it out! The only time she smiled at me (which was clearly forced) was when she brought me the check back and wanted a tip. If you have any decency at all, you'll skip this place.
