We started planning a little closer to our wedding date in November 2009 (only 7 mo. of planning). Our wedding date was 5/30/10 - Memorial Day Weekend. She helped us find a ceremony and reception location (sending us a ton of photos via e-mail), secure 2 options for hotels for our out-of-town guests (about 70%), rentals for the ceremony. Helped us with the florist, a hair and make-up person, photographer, photobooth company...everything you could absolutely think of - she gave us at least 2 options based on what we were looking for. We only visited once (for one weekend) before the wedding where she scheduled 2 cake tastings, 2 florist meetings, food tasting (which was Mulvaney's and was AMAZING), trial hair & make-up, and visit to the ceremony location. She also helped me with verbiage and proofing on our wedding invitations, menu and programs - which we made. Kendra is very thorough and worked with all of our vendors. She is also very responsive on phone and e-mail and will respond (usually within 24 hours unless she had a wedding or is on vacation. On the day of our wedding, it is hard to show just how helpful she was since it was perfect and nothing went wrong. Her assistant for the day Jordan was also wonderful - she was always there ready to help and I really appreciated it...especially when I wanted to change out my shoes :o). She was very clear and concise and her timeline was super detailed and well organized (we cannot say the same about all timelines we get from planners) *On the day of the event, she was very composed and relaxed! This may seem like a strange thing to point out, but this is the mark of someone who is good at what they do. It's not that she is "chill" or "doesn't care" it's because she's done her legwork and due diligence before the event to make sure that the day of goes smoothly *She goes above and beyond! There were a few venue issues that were solely the fault of the venue and no one else, Makenna immediately stepped in to help rectify these. She even got in her car and did a run to grab ice mid event (who does that???). Overall she is a true pro and made our day (and our client's wedding) amazing! There was a time when having a wedding planner was considered a luxury afforded only to couples…read morewith deep pockets. (Or couples who had parents with deep pockets.) I beg to differ. In my opinion, having a wedding planner was a necessity and one I would advise other brides to have, even if it means scaling back on other costs for your wedding reception. For me personally, having a wedding planner was the difference between me just being able to "pull off" my reception and me being able to enjoy it. To save some money, I hired KWE for month of/day of coordination rather than full event planning (though they were available from the get-go for contract help, referrals and all-around advice). The month before my event, Kate swooped in and took care of all the details: designing the layout of the venue, coordinating with the vendors, etc. The week before, day before and the day of she took care of everything! She picked up supplies, was on hand to greet and coordinate with other vendors, did setup and cleanup, delivered items to my house after the reception, helped keep the party on track and so much more! I am not sure if there were any snafus (though I am sure there were, how couldn't there have been?) because if there were, she took care of them on the spot. She even jumped into action when I spilled red wine on my gown early in the evening. I really, really, really cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it was to have Kate and her team on board. I strongly advise you to consider hiring her for your event.
