It was a United flight but it had to go to SFO first and then came to Medford ... I guess a 4 hour flight still beats driving and I'm meeting my crew up here in Oregon. They got the big rental Suburban and drove up from Sacramento to meet me here. I got a one way ticket since I'll be driving back with the my crew to California. This is a bigger airport than Redding and has real parking and rental car areas. There's food available, but I didn't need any as I'll grab some food with my crew. Meet up was easy using the cell phone method, basically just park and I'll call you when you can pick me up. This airport MFR worked out fine and I'll fly in or out of here again. Not a place you need to avoid like SFO!

It's hard to beat this airport for convenience. Everyone, including the TSA shows up about 30 min…read morein advance. Screening is quick with hardly any line. Baggage checking and claiming is easy. Parking is free up to 30 days (and who's counting?). Free parking alone can justify the somewhat high fares here. The fares can be high. I get competitive prices, all things considered, for longer trips connecting is San Francisco. If you're only going to San Francisco or Portland and no further the cost can be ridiculous enough to drive instead. Because the flights are just a small plane that unloads, loads, and leaves again there is limited baggage space. On one trip my ski bag had to be sent the following day from SFO because there was no room. But picking it up the next day was very easy. I think delays here are very uncommon also, things go very smoothly. We have good weather, supposedly 300 or so sunny days a year. The only delay I had was due to fog in San Francisco in summer, they held us back due to the backup there. Sometimes I have gotten lower fares, especially from Reno or Sacramento. But considering the driving, parking, or train costs and the extra time it really didn't pay.

Round trip on United, easy way to LA and go for the non-stop. Normally I'd make the drive to LA cause I usually have to bring a ton of equipment and presentation materials, but this time I just have a short meeting and dinner to attend, so this is way faster then driving. I had a friend drop me off here at the airport, cause I don't wanna leave a car here over night ... you never know. I love flying out of RDD (Redding) cause it's so easy, no crowds and close by. The fares aren't super cheap, but the company is paying so it's all good!

I think the thing that's the best about this event is that you could literally go with only 10 bucks in your pocket and a kiddo or two and spend the day having fun. Almost everything here is free: parking, entrance, kids jumphouses, paper plane demo, 2 different flight simulators, bubbles, sidewalk chalk! With only the $10 you could easily feed a small group a light lunch with drinks. There were 3 food trucks and a small bakery table on site feeding the masses. I was super glad to see buttercloud showed up with their uniques delicious biscuit menu. We opted for for the taco truck (forgot who was there, oops) and sultans delight. We got 4 al pastor quesadillas for $8... fresh made masa and the kids devoured them. From Sultans we grabbed a piece of baclava for $1.50 to go with our chicken kabob gyro and a classic gyro for $6/ea. Only complaint was for the taco truck who was quoting 15 min wait but was more like 25. It was worth the wait, and sultans delight was super quick and efficient to help offset the wait. Pro tip: spend the extra dough if you have it. @ $40/person, the experience a little helicopter flight over Emigrant lake and taking in the nearby scenery is worth every penny... especially if you have littles who will remember it for a lifetime. I mean, come on, it's only money and you can't take it with you... spent it on good times to leave the memories for the next generation. #thegoodlife
