There is so much to explore on the property and nearby. Fishing Ponds, Remote Control airplanes and landing strip on the property. Down the road is McCloud Golf Course staring straight at Mt. Shasta! We went on an awesome hike on the Squaw Creek Tr all along the beautiful river. We rode bikes around Friday's Meadow. They have places to rent if you don't want to haul the RV. Shasta Package. We got married at the peninsula with a view of Mt. Shasta in the background. It was magical! Our reception area was just as beautiful. Our wedding party stayed at Look Out Lodge, which is a large 8 person cabin on the property. It was so much fun to have my dearest friends and family right there to celebrate with me from beginning to end. My husband and I took advantage of the Pond House, a small two person cabin right on the pond where we got married, which became our honeymoon suite. Many of my out of town guests brought up their tents and camped. They had access to a clean restroom and showers the whole time. I believe there's an option to bring RVs as well. All of this was included in the package! And the host was very kind and accommodating. I highly recommend Friday's Retreat as a destination wedding site. It is the place to be if you want an outdoor wedding with a view of Mt.Shasta.

Translation: Super clean and cozy rooms. Also safe and open outdoor parking. Derek is a wonderful and attentive host. Owner Brandon is a local. Most room neighbors were PCT hikers or travelers. We had forgotten wall chargers and Derek loaned us two for the kids tablets. Check out the employee owned Rays market or the cool gas/convenience station down the road. The local bakery has amazing house made bagels and breads, get there earlier than I did for the best pastry selections, or order a sandwich later. I wish I had taken some more pictures but the property is so nice and the Etna community is lovely and friendly. I hear there is a community pool across the street, but we arrived just after 7pm and weren't able to check it out. This is the second time we've been here and we'll be back!

He paid no rent and still got more consistency than we did. Two bedrooms were in a damp basement with strong "unsolved case" energy. Lights didn't work in multiple rooms. Water dispensers? Empty. For a property with a $500 deposit and a push to buy trip insurance, we expected basic functionality. Instead, we got a scavenger hunt for working utilities. We contacted them during the stay and escalated to Airbnb when nothing improved. The responses were mostly gaslighting and excuses. Airbnb, not the property managers, offered a $200 coupon, which we declined. That wasn't a resolution. It was hush money. Later, we noticed the listing had been quietly edited, changing the details that had misled us. No accountability, no explanation. Just a sweep under the rug once the damage was done. If they rebranded this as a haunted escape room with shower rationing and an emotional support cockroach, maybe it would work. But as a vacation rental? Absolutely not.
