I have the bed removal for my weeds on my gravel lot. I was told that I will see results in 3 applications. Everytime I go out to my summer home I see more new growth. So from my understanding and what I see they spot treat they don't treat entire area so they will never have control over the entire thing. I use to work here for a few seasons. By far the most ignorant place I ever worked for. The manager I worked for, Yates, is by far the laziest person, and how he is a manager is beyond me. He does nothing but put our stats into the computer. I was a supervisor under him. Which means I did everything he was supposed to do all for an extra dollar. I opened and closed the shop everyday while he would show up late, leave early, not come out with group, but yet complain. I made my salary within a month, $35K. Which is a joke! We, the appilcators/salesman made all the money so he can sit there. This place is terrible to work for and should had been shut down a long time ago! They promise so much, you are supposed to get paid for the sales and extra work you bring in, but that never happened. They just pay themselves. Im in the process of suing them for all the time and money they took from me. They are theives and beyond petty. I had to work after working all day for them to just make it. I would work for a few hours after work everyday to make more than i did there, in just a few hours! They are scammers and they will scam you! read more

The weed man fertilized my front and back yards. I"M NOT A CUSTOMER. While he made a mistake and trespassed, I was more concerned with the fact that I have a Pit Bull and also a BEWARE OF DOG sign on my back yard gate and continued coming in. He could have put himself in harms way, big time. While he did apologize, he failed to close the yard gate properly when he left the yard which further aggravated the situation. The manager Travis did stop by to apologize and I told him I never fertilize my yard specifically because I do not want my pets exposed to anything foreign. when I requested a quote online, I was subjected to a 20+ sales call, trying every angle to get me to commit to the service. I asked that I be emailed the paperwork and I never received it. They scheduled an appointment saying I could cancel any time, even online. when I tried to cancel my appointment online I never received an email with my customer number, therefore their online system didn't let me cancel. To document, if service if applied to my lawn tomorrow, I will not be paying for it. So unethical if this is their model. further they didn't honor the $29.95 first application fee in the first double application amount they quoted. read more

we have been a Weedman customer for a number of years. Up to now I have not had any problems, however, this spring I noticed grubs in my front yard. it was pretty wide spread. So I called. that is where the problem began. the woman who answered was polite, however when I asked about talking to someone about the grubs, she said that I had weed application that would be applied on May 1st. I indicated that I wanted to talk to someone today. She then told me she would put a note on my file, and I could talk to the applicator when he came to my house I could not seem to get past her. So now today they came to apply. I was not home and there was no iMessage for me but nothing about grub control so I called again got the same young lady and she said that I already signed up for grub control and it would happen in sequence with my applications, I said I wanted it now because now is when I have the grubs so she made another note in my file but still I can't get past her. I looked over the entire website for a way to talk to a supervisor or a manager or someone who could help me right away, and there is actually no specific spot. This company policy on contracts is an absolute joke . I keep getting emails saying I owed money for a service. First I never signed up for a service. I only asked for a quote. STAY AWAY!!! I tried them for one year and was not satisfied with the service, therefore I cancelled. They returned the following year and applied a treatment. I called the office to ask why my lawn was treated when I cancelled the previous year. They verified the cancellation and said that they will update their record and close the account. After that I received multiple calls stating payment is due for the $58 application. I refused so they submitted to the collection now owing $117 (which I will be disputing). I had Weed Man's service for 2 or 3 years and had an overall positive experience during that time. They maintained the weeds well, re-seeded my front lawn and applied a Emerald Ash Borer application to an Ash tree I had that was dying. My negative review has to do with their billing and account practices. I moved from the house where I had the service in the winter time and instead of checking with me or asking if I wanted to continue using their services they instead applied a treatment to the lawn for the new owners and billed me for the expense. When I complained about the bill they said they are a "continuous service company" and will continue to apply treatments without being asked. I won't be using their services at my new home and I would not recommend them to others. read more

We requested a quote to have our yard double aerated and our lawn seeded. We have several bare areas due to work we have done. My husband walked our property with "an account manager" pointing out our major issues. We received the quote and said we would like it done. The day techs came out to aerate and seed was the hottest week in august? But we were assured the seed was an overspray applied to protect it from the heat? Upon inspection after the lawn guys were gone, we realized our whole yard was not aerated(the side of the house completely untouched) the other side was tore up from the guys turning the aeration machine and there was barely any grass seed put down on our lawn. But there was a pile on our driveway , street and on the new pavers we put down on the edge of our driveway (guess where we have grass growing??). The "account manager" my husband meet with came back out to our house to see what the issue was with the job that had been done because when I called I explained my disappointment. He walked the yard with me and said his guys did a "shitty job" (His words not mine) and that he will have a crew out to fix this right away. I asked if they could call me first so I could make sure they understood the issues. He said of course.... still waiting for that call. 2 more visits later and the quality was just as awful. I was leaving for work on the day of the last visit to hopefully seed our lawn. I was not notified they were coming again but the truck pulled up as I was leaving so I took 15 minutes to walk them around to show them the bare spots that needed seed and then asked if they understood and if I could go to work since I was now late. They said yes. These guys barely did anything. The places I showed them that are bare still have no seed when I get home from work. So I called to explain my frustration again (probably my 5th call now) and that we no longer want any one else to our house to fix this. I'm done and I want my money back for the poor quality job. 4 phone calls later we finally got a discount off the job because that is all they could do for us. Unreal and unprofessional. We called later to cancel our seasonal weed prevention/fertilizer service because I don't want anything to do with Weed Man. They continued to call my husband everyday to ask why we cancelled until he finally answered and said stop calling us. Next time I will double check reviews because if I had read these first we never would have hired this company for anything. Awful customer service, awful quality of work!!! Believe the 1 Star reviews when you research the West Dundee Weed Man! I was with Weed Man for 1 year. I have had several concerns with their Customer Service Department in particular. 1) Empty promises on Customer Referrals. I was told multiple times that I would receive a credit from my services which never happened. When I cancelled my service, I was told I'd receive a refund. Despite my continued requests, Weed Man will not honor their commitment. 2) I proactively cancelled my service. 2 months later I received a letter in the mail that my services in the next year were starting soon. I had to call back to their Customer Services department to find that my services were never actually cancelled. 3) Customer Services can't seem to get my phone number right. They keep telling me "that a voicemail" was left for me - whether it was regarding my credit or a scheduling treatment, but I've never received a call from them. This is a basic capability of any Customer Service department. My yard looked sub-par this year, and I was paying too much for sub-par quality. But it is the Front Office Customer Services group that put me over the edge. Companies like Green T and Tru Green invest in sending Holiday Cards, offer to beat price quotes, and call reps are genuinely nice and kind. It's hard to believe this Weed Man location survives treating their Customers so poorly. read more

I despise giving bad reviews, but this company surprised me even me! Company policy is an assumed annual contract renewal and unauthorized continuation and billing of service. I contracted weed man to care for my lawn for one year, 2016. I paid an upfront fee for about 6 visits. The guys who came out to my home were nice, did a great job, and cured my weed problem. 2017 was a year of tearing up my lawn with underground projects. I did not contract weedman for 2017. In the spring I got a call on a Friday afternoon informing me that my lawn will be serviced the following Monday. I called them immediately after returning home from work to cancel the service and find out why they would even come out. There was no answering service, and no way to leave a message. I went on with life. Monday I return home from work and my lawn was treated. When I spoke to the office I was informed that they auto renew the contracts. Good to know, I said no way - cancel whatever you have to. I will not pay for work I did not authorize. Now they sent the $54 bill to collections. read more

About 4months ago i had someone knock on my door. He asked if i wanted a free estimate. I said yes because the kid looked nervous. I had no intention of using this service. Then for the next 2 months they continued to call me up to 6 times a day every weekday. Then i thought it was over, but no then their corporate office started calling if i didnt answer the other number. After another month i didnt hear from them and thought that was the end. They are extremely conscientious about time commitments and will call and verify 24 hours prior. They are very flexible with scheduling. Our Weed Man specialist walked our grounds with me. He pointed out the different types of weeds I was having an issue with and how each would be treated differently in order to prevent additional weeds from appearing or growing back. Our Weed Man specialist is professional and will always take extra time to explain additional services I may want to consider and when they will be on sale too. Our specialist is extremely knowledgeable. He even went the extra mile and helped with some ornamentals I was having difficulty with. My roses now thrive. I think our lawn is the best on the block. Never had service with them, never even spoke with anyone from their company, yet they call my cellphone numerous times a week. I don't even know how they got my phone number. I would think with this many reviews and complaints about this happening they would stop the automated calls. I have heard of a few companies getting brought up on harassment charges for things like this. I guess that is what its going to take. Last summer I used this service - will not again. My lawn looks worse than when I took care of fertilizing myself. Weeds were still a problem, even after they came out a 2nd time. Still had crab grass and dandelions and from being treated so often lawn looks fried. For the $$ we spent I thought I would finally have a lush lawn. I purchased my new home at the end of August. It is clear the previous owner hired Weed man to take care of their lawn. (So our neighbor says.) I do have to say, my yard was the ONLY one in my neighborhood with out ANY weeds. It looks great. I definitely would have considered hiring Weed man next season or at the end of the summer to prep my lawn for winter. Specially after seeing how great it looks right now without me needing to put much work into it. I was on the fence about giving them a call back. However the below events caused me to lose interest. A Weed Man rep had stopped by late one night to offer a free estimate. I explained that I was not interested as the house was new to us and we were excited to be hands on and take care of our own lawn after years of living in apartments. The rep insisted that is was free and i wouldn't be charged for anything and wasn't going anywhere. Clearly he was not leaving until i gave my phone number for the free quote. I had two 3 month old puppies barking at him and trying to get out the door, i was getting frustrated. I signed just so I could get him to leave and close my door. A few days later, i received a phone call. The man immediately went right into a very long scripted phone conversation and i finally had to cut in and explain i was at work and could not speak on the phone. They called later that night, and before they could start the speech, i explained the same thing as I did to the kid who came to my door. "We want to work on the yard ourselves for now. We just bought the house and we're excited to do the yard work ourselves. Maybe next year when my husband has had his fill of weed prevention" (Plus - a house and two puppies in one year? Lawn care was not in the budget.) Since then, I have received 2-4 phone calls a WEEK with no voicemail. I finally had to block the phone number to end the annoyance. I can see that Weed Man's lawn care is worth every penny and seeing the results of their work highly impressed me this spring. However i would have realized that on my own and called them when i was ready. (Regardless of my husband saying not too). My yard looks beautiful and i would have been happy to call them back in the fall to set something up with them. But, i'm sorry, 2-4 calls a week with no voicemail is overkill and not a way to win someones business. My advise is to start leaving voicemails and limit your calls to once a month. If you would have solicited in a more professional manner, i would be writing a great review as one of your customers right now. read more

We moved into a foreclosure and the lawn was a complete disaster. We tried getting it under control ourselves, but after a year of battling weeds and crabgrass we finally decided it was time to hire out. I cannot speak highly enough of our experience with Weedman. Not only was the staff outrageously nice and personable, but the price was fair, and our lawn improved drastically in the weeks after their treatment.
