Was told the 1st service was free, was charged $97.31 for it. Had to call twice over 3 months because they were not showing up (and I was being charged for the service and never received the 3rd application). I cancelled after having to call the second time. I just got off the phone because I had a "balance" from the 2 times they serviced my yard. I had to pay $168.17 for 2 services and the 1st one was "Free" What you're being told by the salesman and what you're being told over the phone is completely different. I was called several times to become a new customer. I finally decided to switch services based on the price and service I have seen around. I proceed to do all the sign up requirements and then the first treatment was scheduled. I soon received a call stating that the price quoted was in error and they wanted to increase each lawn by $25 as they made a mistake. I said we had an agreement for work. They proceeded to tell me they would not honor the price they quoted. So I have gone with another firm for the same original price and they are happy to service the lawn read more

I got tired of doing all the lawn care myself and decided to let Weed Man do it. I think I've paid them close to $1,000 so far in 2025 and my lawn has never looked worse. I honestly believe that they have been charging me for lawn treatments (ie., spreading weed&feed) but not actually doing the treatments. My lawn is absolutely full of Nuts Edge, Crabgrass, Dallis Grass, False Daisy, Spotted Spurge, Yellow Woodsorrel, St. Augustine Grass, Mulberry Weed, Rhomboid Mercury and Spiny Sowthistle. I did pay for the aeration treatment and they did, in fact, complete that because I saw the holes and plugs. But as far as treating for weeds, I don't think they did anything. With all the issues I haved received from them and crappy job they did on my yard, the missleading billing, the lying to on what they would be doing and now billing again. I paid upfront for the year services, which I think I should get refunded for them sucking, they have the nerve of sending me another bill for $14. I called then asking why I received a bill that I paid everything upfront. She is like, yeah I see that I don't know why we are billing you. I guess just trying more scams. We have attempted to use Weedman of Lexington on two occasions. We cancelled the first time after they attempted to raise our fees an incredible 75% after the first year. A classic bait and switch. We decided to give them another opportunity this year and were repeatedly frustrated with the services they provided. They continously failed to service our lawn and we would have to call them to remind them to come out to our house. This happened 3 times and it was the only 3 times they came out. The 4th time we had had enough and called to cancel. At this time the claimed they had actually visited 6 times which was a flat out lie. After cancelling our services they began making harrassing calls attempting to collect a balance due, which we strongly feel is not owed, in fact they owe us a refund for services not provided. I called them to have the charges removed from our account and end the harrassing calls and they refused to do so, attempting to make me jump through hoops and red tape. This company is highly unethical and I would avoid them at all costs. read more

We have been using Weed Man for this season. Our yard has looked great all summer. When they asked if we wanted treatment for Army worms, we said no thank you. Well, just a couple weeks later, our yard is 100% brown. We are the ONLY house in our entire subdivision that has this infestation and ONLY the area of our yard that they treated (they didn't even treat our entire lot) has been damaged by these worms. It's quite odd, we opted to not utilize their service for this worm and this happened to us..... THE ONLY HOUSE, THE ONLY YARD, and ONLY THE area they treated. I unfortunately received a very unpleasant market phone call from a man, Jordan, who identified himself as an employee of Weedman. The company has been making weekly phone calls which I generally don't answer. Although I am not immensely impressed with their service, I am very annoyed at the aggressive tactics used by this salesman yesterday. I specifically told him at least 3 times that I was not interested in aeration this year. He insisted my weed issues would improve with this extra service. Eventually after listening to him challenge my decision, I hung up on him. Bottom line, the consistent phone calls are annoying and Weedman may not be our lawn service next year. Oh and by the way, my neighbors did aerate their yard and they have the same weeds, so will see. read more

Quite possibly the worst lawn care company I have ever dealt with. I was a customer for about 3 years and they treated my lawn and recommended countless aeration and over seeding. I complied as my lawn got worse and worse. I cancelled the service because I was tired of throwing money to a service that I felt like I wasn't receiving. They called and offered me a free over seeding with a 100% guarantee if I resumed my normal service. $150+ dollars and I paid up front. This morning the tech called to say he was coming out to do an aeration and over seeding to my front and side lawn. I asked about the back and he said that he would have to call the office. He called back and said they wouldn't allow him to do the back yard and that I would have to call the office and they were going to pull my sales call (one I had no idea they had recorded). I called the office and cancelled my service and requested a refund. I also asked them to take me off of their call list. This company has ruined my lawn and now I am looking for a local company to come in and repair what Weedman has done. Thanks Weedman for absolutely nothing. Your company should be ashamed. This company is a complete joke, they don't reply to calls and e-mails with problems with their services. I am still waiting to hear from a manager to discuss the problem. their sales team is great, unfortunately they don't live up to their promises or fixing problems. Two years ago I hired you to fix some bare spots in my front yard, also to start building up the grass in my backyard. To date and after two years of service, it seems like the only real improvement I have seen is in all the areas where I originally had grass already. The areas on the front yard which were our main concern were exactly the same since the time we hired you. A few weeks ago and after your failure to do the job you were hired for, we decided to transplant some grass into those bare spots from another area where we were doing some landscaping changes. To our surprise the work we did (two completely inexperienced persons) gave us great results, the same job you haven't been able to complete in two years of service and after over $600.00 of fees. read more

I have called multiple times over the past months beginning in the summer and cancelled service after multiple unsatisfactory customer service issues and they keep calling me and showing up to treat my yard like I've never cancelled. Keep in mind that I have cancelled via actual conversations with their office personnel and was assured that "this time" it was actually in the computer as cancelled. I got another robocall today that they would be here tomorrow to treat my lawn. I am at my wits end with this company and plan to file a complaint with the better business bureau in the morning. I waited approx. 5 months to give this review to see if anything changed for the better......it has NOT! I will give them this, they market their service very well, based on what I believe to be a rightfully good reputation/name of Hillenmeyer's (sp?) and after three to four years with a competitor lawn service (who will remain nameless as not to taint my review of Weedman) I decided to give them a try based on someone who referred me to them. Anyway, the good is that they seem readily available and ready to help and they also come and service when they say they will and that is where the "good" ended, for me at least. The bad is that I haven't seen ANY results other than negative ones. My yard, since switching to their service, has done six steps backwards and obviously that was not what anyone would look for when paying for a service. I called them twice prior to services recently and explained to them (and i am no grass expert) that i still saw substantial crabgrass, clover and another prominent weed that i have ZERO idea the name of. They were very nice BOTH times I brought this up and assured me this would be addressed and I would see "results" in a few weeks. Well.....if they addressed it then it certainly has NOT worked either time and now I see more weeds then ever before and I am NOT a 65-70 old retired millionaire with a beautiful estate walking my property looking for single weeds to get angry about. Im a customer who works 50-55 hours a week who doesn't have much time to mow.....much less be a weed detective. So when I see 10-12 big clumps of weeds it raises a red flag after 4-5 months of their service. So, I will run the course with the program I signed up for and then I will head for the hills with regards to weedmans service,unless they make a dramatic service save in the next few months on my property. Last week I was driving down some major Fayette County thoroughfare's and it struck me that the road medians were close to being COMPLETELY free of weeds and crabgrass! They look 10 times better than my yard since Weedman took over as my lawn service. If the city, or any service in city government as a whole, can do a better job on the medians on Harrodsburg and other roads than a private sector company can do on my measly yard than there must be a problem with said private sector companies service quality.....no?! NOT recommended in the least........so far. Im hoping they prove me wrong in the next 2-3 months, but I don't hold out much hope. read more

Do not use Weed Man for your lawn care services. They tout their personal service, addressing individual needs for each lawn. They are a cookie cutter just like the rest of lawn companies. They charge more than twice their competitors . When they bill you its more than the quote. Never come when they say they will. I have had representatives come twice to my door unsolicited which first of all is a huge personal pet peeve of mine. This last time today, I was busy making dinner and told the gentleman I wasn't interested and can't afford their services at this time and ended the conversation. But when I looked outside much later I saw that 6 door hangers were dropped on My porch which is extremely frustrating because I am dealing with bad back and knee pain making picking up those flyers an incredibly painful chore. You officially made my day that much harder. Please stop going door to door. Nobody likes that. Unless you're selling Girl Scout cookies or you're Ed McMann with a publishers clearing house check. So i have had amazing results with this company ,all due to the guy that comes out and does my lawns . He is a very knowledgeable ,Friendly, upbeat,truthful guy that always answers all my questions and concerns . We used them last year and couldn't see much improvement, if any. I will not renew this year because of the annoying, relentless marketing phone calls. I have asked them MULTIPLE times to take me off their calling list but they just keep calling! I feel like I am being harassed, they call from different phone numbers, out of state. This business not only has no idea what they are doing, they have no desire to solve the problem. Customer service is SEVERELY understaffed and the sales department will cut any corner possible to lock people into $150+ applications that they conveniently forgot to mention were recurring. The lack of communication between customer service and management is absolutely astonishing. They operate out of one office for 3 major cities attempting to get ahold of managers in your location. Absolutely too big for their britches & need to seriously evaluate how to actually train and employ a staff before making an endless amount of promises they cannot keep. Anything you read about this company being interested in you and your lawn as an individual is a lie. All accounts are automatically set to auto renew each year and they will keep you on the hook for whatever they do you never consented to because of that. May take you up to a week to get a response from anyone concerning an issue regarding damage. BEWARE AT ALL COSTS!!! If scammy business practices and lack of ethics entices you, be my guest. UPDATE FROM ORIGINAL REVIEW: Changed from one star to three. The issue cited in my original review (below) was resolved and I appreciate that. I will say that it took social media reviews to get the attention of the person who should have been involved in the first place to have avoided the situation from becoming an issue in the first place. But - in all fairness - at the end of the day, any company that reaches out to resolve an issue and does so fairly deserves recognition for doing so. While I did have an issue that became very much an aggravation and dragged out for much longer than it should have (should have been escalated to the person who resolved it much earlier), in the end the company made good. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I did not contact them to continue my service this season yet they began treating my lawn. Upon the first treatment, I called them to let them know someone had been there to treat my lawn yet I had not renewed with them. No one returned my message at the time and I did not hear from them until they called to collect for the treatments that I did not request. Their renewal procedures are deceitful. Seemed to start off well this summer but as the months have progressed my yard seems to have more weed in it. Nothing has got better and they always seem to spray when it's raining, surely this effects the killing of the weeds. This business is going down a star because their telemarketing is starting to annoy me. You think door hangers and knocks on the door are not enough? GOD! I keep thinking something of mine went into collections and every bill I am current on, so that is not what it is. It just seems like it with the amount of phone calls I get from this business! If you want to do business with someone, a resident will reach out to you. Do not pester them with phone calls! Yeah I understand sales is cut throat and you need to find avenues of advertising to make $ quickly and need to do so in a short amount of time to pay all employees; however, cold calling people is NOT good, much less knocking on doors and doorhangering (it use to be before it started getting annoying or people getting shot/kidnapped). If you want to get your service across, go the radio route or television. Just today I received a phone call from them and actually did not know because I am job searching. This number will also be an (859) number like most land line numbers in Lexington. Anyway, every phone number that comes through my phone, I have to be inquisitive about. So the guy calls me and he is like "You have been hanging up on everyone that has called you so far." I do not need to give you a reason of why I keep hanging up. On July 2nd a tech showed up as it started to storm and I thought "well he's going to have to come back later", but no, he proceeded to spray part of my front yard before the thunderstorm got so bad that he left. I feel that what little product he applied to a very small part of my yard quickly washed away in the ensuing deluge. I have since canceled my service and disputed the $180 charge, but they continue to send me a bill every month, for a service that I feel that I did not receive. I've been a Weedman customer for several years. I am pleased with the strides my lawns appearance has made. I have two dogs and the company is always good about notifying me prior to treatment. I do wish some of the treatments for specific weeds (ex. violets, Johnson grass) cost extra; I think it should be part of the package. If you are not satisfied, they will return and re-treat the yard. You just need to call them within a couple weeks following the treatment and they'll be right out. read more

Do not use Hillenmeyer or Weedman. They will perform service without your consent and bill you for it. We contacted them about killing weeds in our backyard. They came out and said they could not perform the service that day as we needed a "killout" first, and to call in and schedule a killout appointment. We decided not to schedule the appointment. Since then, they allegedly came out and performed the regular service (that they told us they could not do) twice without our consent or knowledge and then attempted to bill us for it. After contacting them a few times to try to resolve this and getting no where with the person on the phone, we just hoped it would go away. We have now been sent to collections for a service that we did not order! Stay far away from Weedman or their parent company Hillenmeyer Garden Shops. read more

I simply called to get pricing, then they went ahead and treated it and continued to harrass me for months afterward for $80 for treating the tiniest lawn in Lexington. Horrible business practices. Our experience with Weed Man has been abysmal. As far as we can tell, no service has been performed as advertised. I am certain that Weed Man billed us for work they never did. After almost a MONTH of leaving our backyard unlocked as requested by Weed Man for services to be performed "the next day," we finally saw a notice that the first weed-killing treatment was applied. This notice was hung on our front door as we were spending time in the backyard. In other words, the technician claimed to apply a treatment to our backyard while we were in it, and we never saw him. We arranged to have an inspector come out the following Wednesday, when we could be home to discuss things with him, to look over the lawn with us. Instead, Tuesday afternoon we came home to find a note that the inspector had come by and seen die-off consistent with treatment. No dead weeds were visible to us, and our need to discuss our issues with the inspector was never addressed. We tried once more to give the company the benefit of the doubt. Since they claim to provide additional applications as requested by the customer, we asked that a "re-application" (or a first actual application) be done. The dispatcher informed me that a technician could come out the next week, but that they would call the night before so we could personally arrange a mutually agreeable time. No call came that week. The following week we received a recorded message that someone would come out the next day. We couldn't reach the actual technician to let him know that day wouldn't work for us, but it didn't matter, since nobody came the following day anyway. Then, without warning, a notice of treatment arrived on our door two weeks after we'd called requesting treatment. Unfortunately, we had checked just that morning that our gates to the backyard were securely locked. Weed Man consistently failed to show up as scheduled, and repeatedly claimed to have treated our yard when 3/4 of it was inaccessible to them. I'm very glad we did not prepay for a season's worth of "work", since literally nothing about this company was reliable. read more

My wife thought we might have a better looking yard if we signed up for a lawn service. The Weedman salesman promised quite a bit with applications about once a month for $37.50 per visit. Within 30 days we were out $150 and the weeds were thriving. The second visit we were billed $75 (on our very small yard) because the stuff they spread on our yard in that two minute visit had fertilizer and grub control. I called them to question these charges and ask why the last bill indicated they had "spot treated for weeds" when my wife watched the guy run a broadcast spreader over our yard in two quick swipes and was gone in less than two minutes, certainly not spot treating anything. The person who answered the phone was very rude and explained that if I did not pay the bill it would be turned over to a collection agency. This threat was in lieu of actually listening to my issues with their service. Sorry, Weedman is one of the scam lawn services. Find a lawn service that actually tests your soil and plans treatments. Weedman just takes your money and applies worthless stuff which weeds find amusing. A $5 bottle of WeedBGone from Home Depot did a much better job than WeedMan's "special blend" weed juice. read more

My lawn looks better then it did before. I did the yard work myself and weed man did a better job. I was just called by weed man salesman to seed and aerate my yard. When I said I couldn't afford it the young man ask me why. He went on to ask for specifics on why I couldn't afford it since I did this a few years ago. He asked if it was a medical issue or what was the excuse I was using. I told him he was being unprofessional and he continued to be rude. We were "NOT SATISFIED" with our service at all!! We had lots of weeds. They charged us for aerating our entire yard, even though they only did the front yard, and refused to correct the bill. I called and left a message for a manager to return my call, so I could try and have the matter resolved, but there was no response. They charged for applications that were never done.
