You know how it goes... You coming for one thing and end up leaving with half the store. That's exactly what happened on this bright and sunny Saturday afternoon. I came to pick up a few bags of my new favorite vegan gummy bears and ended up leaving with half the store. We'll have the snack section anyway. I love international snack foods and shopping here beats hauling all of these delicious treats through customs in my carry-on... Plus the staff are nicer. Not only did they have the gummy bears I wanted, but they had different flavor varieties of my favorite Swedish fish candy (Not the Swedish Fish that you can get from any grocery store or drugstore... But the actual fish shaped gummy candy that's made in Sweden. Way different flavor. Way better!). Had to grab those. They also sold different boxes from Universal Yums (One of my favorite international snack food subscription boxes)! You know I had to grab one of those. Since it's the start of charcuterie-in-the-sunshine season (my favorite time of year), I picked up a few things to make a lovely gift basket for a friend: An assortment of prosecco splits, and different bags of mini snacks and nibbles including smoked cheese, olives, garlic bread flavored bruschetta, and Bourbon infused pecans. I was surprised that they also sold beef salami here. As a non-pork eater, I was absolutely thrilled by this and picked up a couple of packs for myself. I also grabbed a few bags of the international flavors of Lay's potato chips including spicy lobster, chicken wing, and Yakitori. Can't wait to enjoy those with some triple creme brie. I stumbled upon a couple of extra gift items including a brass peacock ring holder that is going to make a fantastic birthday gift for one of my friends. As much as I loved all of my fines, the service was by far the best part of this visit. Abbe was absolutely amazing. She helped me unlock some rewards that I didn't even know were available to me. Although I'm a member of the rewards program, I wasn't aware of any of the coupons or promotions available outside of the Clearance signs that I saw in the store. She was telling me about them as she was ringing me up, and she walked me through how to access them from my phone. I ended up saving 15% on my purchase, getting $10 back in rewards, and even getting a free gift. She did not have to take the extra time to walk me through it, or even tell me about it, but I'm so grateful that she did. I Love this store so much. Love this place, you never know what gem you'll find! Whether it be an international food item, a beautiful home decor piece or a nice bottle of wine. I can spend hours strolling in this store browsing at the unique things they sell. My favorite is the international food section, so many delicious options, sweet and savory. We used to buy wine here a lot, they often have nice discounts for members, but after a few bottles bought that were spoiled we stopped. Lots of unique beverages and samples at the World Market. I love how they thoughtfully create a holiday ambience. I noticed. Sparkling rose tea - all natural & no sugar caught my eye. I bought it immediately. They had samples of coffee & tea at the front of the store. I tasted both and found them pleasant & unique in taste. Their Halloween items of floating candles, accessories, and plates were eye catching yet not tempting enough to purchase at regular prices. I love this World Market! It is always stocked up with amazing products, jewelry, decor , and furniture. I bought two Japanese snack mystery boxes. They were fun to try! They were also 55% off. Great deals! They have really fun Japanese sodas, Hello Kitty and Sailor Moon. I got the famous Australian cookies called Tam Tams. Chocolatey goodness! I also bought a Bridgerton booklight, faux Pampas grass, and jewelry. The wine selection is so cool! Staff is awesome, place is organized. Do not greet KAILA HARRIS with "hey." She will get very upset and tell you how she is a grown woman who should not be greeted with "hey. " She will then parade around the store implying to all her coworkers that you are racist because you greeted her with "hey." She will then have her manager tell you how "hey" is not culturally acceptable. However, "hi" is acceptable. Totally makes sense. I enjoy a shopping trip to World Market. What attracts m to the store are the candy, food and beverage items. World Market does have a world-wide selection of foods. If I've tried something abroad and want more, I check if I can find here. In fact, it is my source for Dutch salted licorice, British potato chips (crisps, actually!), Belgian and German chocolate, stuffed olives, and much more! The coffee is good, too. There are also many other international cooking products and comestibles. If Australian friends are looking for Vegemite, this is the place to look. American products include unusual varieties of hot sauce, other potato chips, tortilla chips and popcorn. I must mention the "travel trophies" section I always enjoy browsing. If you want a Ganesha from India, you will find it here. World Market has many other products including flatware, dishes, cups and saucers, glasses, plates, furniture and wine. This was my first COVID shopping experience - I've been getting everything delivered - but I wanted to see/feel my new deck furniture before purchasing. The team at Kingstowne made me comfortable with plenty of space, masks and hand sanitizer. Karen helped me pick out the best pieces for my space and then expertly helped me maximize my savings. When one of my pieces was sold out at her store, she even arranged for a nearby location to hold one for me! Rachel is a car Tetris pro - I still don't know how she fit so much furniture in my little hatchback, smiling the whole time even at the end of the day. I came back two days later to pick up what didn't fit in the car the first time -- and Aldo, who had also helped me during my first visit, greeted me by name when I returned! World Market, also used to being known as Cost Plus, started out in SF back in the late '50s. They offer a variety of interesting items, ranging from furniture, decorative pillows, jewelry, and seasonal items. This particular World Market location is pretty large, and they seemed to have the largest wine selection. The staff are pretty helpful, and I was able to choose a few for a friend's get-together. In addition, they label the wines by countries, so it's pretty helpful in that way as well! Love World Market. Their bath, speciality food items, and dinning/kitchen sections are some of my faves. They have so many different types of nice smelling soaps and lotions. I love the packaging for their soaps. Their food items are from different countries, which is awesome. Nice selection of spices, snacks, candies, sauces, drinks, etc. They also have some great smelling candles, pretty jewelry, and a nice cards section. Employees are always friendly and helpful. Sackcloth&Ashes have some nice blankets for $100 bucks. Every one you buy, one is given to a homeless shelter. It is amazingly quiet in this store. I also liked the Native American stuff that is sold here among other things. The Halloween stuff is out and The Nun has made an appearance at this store with her associates Skull&Bones. I walk around this store and see many lovely fall outfits the women are wearing. Especially if they are wearing boots...(unless they are Uggs) Saw a woman wearing a gray dress with lovely black boots and told she had on nice outfit. She thanked me before moving on. Saw some special Halloween wine here and would be tempted to buy one if I had a taste for alcohol. I can still appreciate the labels though. I see this place is exceptionally clean like Modell's. My first time and certainly not my last time visiting this store. Upon entering I was warmly greeted by a store associate by the name of Nataly. Nataly helped me join the members club, and while I did not have service in the store, I told Nataly to go ahead and help other patrons. Nataly was kind enough to catch up to me while shopping to inquire if I was able to complete joining and offer assistance while I browsed. I love coming here. There is always a cute home item or delicious snack I can pick up. I have found so many cute cat and elephant things I'm going too need a case to show it all off. After browsing for only a minute, a helpful associate named Stav walked right up to me and asked if I received their coupons. I explained that it'd been some time since I'd signed up and I no longer received them. Stav showed me how to sign up for texts and I received my first 20% off coupon right there to use same day. I could spend hours in World Market, for it has just about anything you could want in home decor. Everything from tables to plates is just there for they taking, and let's face it, the selection is bound to be better than Wall Mart's collection commercialism. One of my favorite World Market purchases is a set of cobalt blue dishes embossed with white cherry blossoms. My house guests always ask where I picked them up, and with that, we are often off to World Market to watch their jaw hit the floor. Trust me, if you have anyone in from out of town who hasn't seen a World Market, take them here and there is a good chance that they may rank this store as one of their favorite sights in the D.C. area. Yeah, Washington Monument, The Capital, Lincoln Memorial, and World Market.. for my friends and family from West Virginia it kind of goes in that order. Furniture is always worth a look at this store. I have snagged some beautiful Asian floor lamps and a vase from Indonesia which all have served as the perfect compliment to my eclectically decorated apartment. I also love the fact that each item is labeled with its country of origin; there is something cool about knowing that your chair is from Thailand or your curio chest from India. My only regret with this section is that it can be a bit on the expensive side. Feel like a snack? Well, set aside the mundane and opt for some exotic treats from Japan, South America, or New Zealand. My particular favorite is the Aussie Pineapple Liquorice which washes away the memory of that horrible black liquorice my grandmother would force feed me as a kid..Yuck! No thanks, Grandma, I'll stick to some of Australia's finest. Yup, World Market is like taking a trip around the world without leaving the store. Everything is authentic, and I often recognize items from my world travels on its shelves. Prices, of course, are not the same as I would have paid in the home country, (Crap! I knew I should have purchased that bag in India for $5 when I had the chance, now I will have to spend $25). However, everything is unique and worth a look. My only complaint with this place is the lines. The lines here are the worst, for some customer always seems to have a problem or wish to exchange an item. I'm not sure if it is due to the inefficiency of staff or the inability of its customer base to make swift purchases, but I have had to wait in line as long as 15 minutes while some problem was resolved at the register. Lines are long here and often move at a snail's pace, so I say get to World Market early. read more

Went here with Mariane this weekend after lunch to browse. We loved the imported furniture (from Bali and Thailand...), the ornate tea trays, and the cute kitchen gadgets (cute glasses with measurements noted all around). We looked in the International food aisle, but only for a few minutes. The selection is ample, but we had just eaten so I think we were both interested in home decor. We didn't purchase anything during this visit, but I have bought things here in the past. The store also offers jewelry and cute knickknacks from around the world. During this visit, I discovered their Clearance section. It's located on the left hand side, but all the way down the side of the store (past the aprons). Sadly, I think this location tries to cramp too much stuff in the space, which makes the aisles very narrow and I end up feeling claustrophobic coming here when it is busy. So in that regard, I like the Fairfax store better. Also, I have noticed that this store seems to be almost always understaffed. Merchandise wise though, I love love love this place! Not only do they have awesome gadgets, neat furniture, kickass jewelry, and a fantastic selection of beer and wine, but they also have a section in the back with miniature everything that make for the best stocking stuffers! Received the worst service from Josh on Saturday, 27 March at around 2:30 pm, at the Kingstowne, VA location. I went into World Market looking for a couch. When I found one, I noticed Josh in the area, who didn't care to greet anyone, but I asked for assistance anyway. At the moment, it didn't seem like he heard me, so I repeated myself, and he finally mumbled something, and all I heard was...I heard you! Obviously, by saying that, he was VERY RUDE!!! People like Josh should NOT BE WORKING in a Customer Service type of business, especially since he didn't seem like he cared to be there and paid absolutely no mind to the customers around him. He obviously is not happy working there and probably just not a happy person OVERALL! He does not belong working in an industry where you deal with customers! read more

Very crowded and tight space inside which makes it soooooo hard to maneuver through with stroller. I wished that whoever does the marketing and floor plan takes considerations of strollers/wheelchairs to comfortably maneuver around the store for convenient shopping experience. This location of World Market in Kingstowne-Alexandria is in a good location and prime retail customer base to be successful & busy. Been here multiple times over more than 10-years and found some consistent themes to share in a review: (a) They are always busy and have a moderate number of customers inside. (b) They have always overcrowded the sales floor with merchandise. (c) Simple shopping is difficult with all the aisles being cluttered / tight. (d) Food and consumable items are the better deals when items are on SALE. (e) Furniture items are expensive at retail and SALE makes them "Ok" priced. (f) Check-out is always a hassle, even on simple, small transactions. (g) The registers are finicky and clerks seem to constantly need training and/or manager support to compete transactions. (h) Clothing items (generally) are low quality and don't last very long. (i) Service staff never seem to notice long checkout lines. Interesting selection and usually worth a periodic visit just to see the inventory changes. We choose to do it when we get the 20% SALE coupons in the mail or newspaper. read more

Of all the World Market locations in the area, this is by far my favorite. ITS HUGE! And being huge it has a better selection than any of the other locations. I'm probably in here once a month for something - if its only to indulge in a bottle of NuGrape soda. Its a definite stop at Christmas time where I'm sure to scoop up something for even the most difficult person "who has everything" and goodies from the international foods section make their way into everyone's stocking, as well as my tummy throughout the year. This is also the best location if you're looking for furniture or housewares. There's easily double the selection of tables, chairs, sofas, etc.... Oh if only I had a home large enough to bring home every comfy leather couch, cute end table and bar cabinet. For your kitchen cabinets you'll find asian, french country, plain utilitarian, dishware from any possible style. The challenge will be finding room to put it all. Growing up I remember Pier One being the place we went for those eclectic gifts and things for the house. At some point P1 got more Martha Stewart for my tastes and I rarely enter one. I feel like a kid in a candy store at World Market. There are so many treasures and goodies in this place! I go to World Market to explore their food. I can find things like cookies and cream Kit Kat bars or Tabasco Chocolate, beers and wines that I've never even heard of. I could spend hours in here! (but we all know that wouldn't be a good thing for me or my wallet). I remember coming in to buy Kit Kat bars and I left with 6 different types of chocolates, a wine, Hawaiian coffee and 2 types of cookies. Wait, what just happened? They also seem to be very understaffed, the lines were long, and the new employees couldn't answer the most basic questions. The wine selection is nice, but I adored the odd "knick-knacks" in the store.Since summer and Father's Day is approaching, this store has so many items to purchase for the perfect cook-out. The customer service was great, and I didn't feel ignored. The lines weren't so long until I got up to the counter and couldn't find my check card. I looked back and the customers were giving me the diritiest looks. The cashier was so kind, but that still didn't stop the dirty looks. And they are always good for specialty wines and alcohols, particularly little creative gift items. Also have purchased a few kitchen items there, as well as art pieces for my home. Extremely large store with tons of home goods! I was so pleased with their wide range of home furnishings. I was looking for a large floor lamp to illuminate my otherwise dark living room and found the perfect one to match the decor in my living room. The employees were friendly and were eager to help--even offering to load the lamp box into my car, which is a plus because I don't have the strength for it. I completed the purchase with a 20% off coupon--they don't mess with the prices often (the 20% off coupons seem to be rare) but when they do, plunge in and get something you wouldn't otherwise be able to afford! read more

Customer service is top notch at this location! Yesterday I went in to browse with my son and found this super cute potting table on promo; when I tried to locate the box to purchase an associate let me know the display was the last one and I would be welcome to purchase the display. I decided to come back and think about it or possibly find a new one at one of the other locations she told me it would be at so I left and never got a chance to come back the same day. Today the next day I came in with my husband to browse patio furniture and saw that the shelf was still there! I was anxious to make my purchases and get to the register when I saw a woman asking about "my shelf" and taking pictures of it, she even followed me in line waiting for me to check out! I stood in line nervous because all associates were tending to other customers and to my surprise the cashier remembered I wanted to purchase and already let the other woman know!!!!! How amazing, what if I wasn't going to purchase????? Well I ended up purchasing the shelf and some other items totaling to nearly 500$ because I love coming to my neighborhood location and always find great deals! I'd like to add this isn't the first time associates here have gone above and beyond! One time they located a curtain for me after one of the loops tore and there was only one left in stock somewhere on clearance! They found the curtain after store closing hours and I was so grateful I even gave one of the associates a ride to the train station!
