I'm not typically one to plan ahead. But I do know that the time when you need a snowblower, is the worst time to try and buy a snowblower. So we bought this house. And it's a good house. But it is on a corner lot and it has a lot of sidewalk. I mean, a lot of sidewalk. The older I get, the more shoveling hurts. Plus, I feel like clearing snow is something I should be able to do myself, instead of hiring it out. Much like mowing the lawn. Call me old school. Long story short, I needed a snowblower. So I went online. I did some research. I thought long and hard about my snowblower needs, my budget, and what kind of person I actually am. Turns out, I'm not someone who wants to mess with internal combustion engines, or gas tanks, or carburetors. Which means I wanted a battery powered snowblower. After finding the Toro single stage snowblower, I happened to stumble onto the fact that there was a local shop where I could buy one. Thank you Google (sorry Yelp) because I'm still new to Michigan and Ann Arbor and had no idea the Weingartz was even a place! So I picked up the phone, spoke to a lovely man, told him what I wanted, and gave my credit card number. I asked about contactless pick up, and when I pulled up, the gent wheeled my brand new snowblower out into the parking lot and loaded up in my car. No muss. No fuss. Easy peasy. And priced competitively with the big box stores, all while buying local. The machine is wonderful. It throws snow like a champ. My back is happy. My wallet is happy. My neighbors who walk are happy. My community is just a teeny tiny bit better because I kept my purchase to a Michigan based business. I hope it lasts for a thousand years. But if it does not, I'll go back to Weingartz first and pick up the latest model. read more

Had my Exmark zero turn picked up for some maintenance. I was contacted Friday saying it was done. I called them to schedule delivery and was told they couldn't until I paid. I said I want to come in Monday, pay and speak to the service manager about my bill, it was excessive for what they did. Found out the earliest they could deliver it was 10 days out. Are you kidding me? My mower was purchased there so I figured I'd get treated well, not the case. I will never be back, I had been told not to take it there, should have listened. Update...My mower was delivered back after being completed for 10 days. Zero oil in the hydraulic reservoir and two idlers were replaced that are fine. I spent $950 dollars and they deliver it back with no fluid in the reservoir. They did not perform the service correctly and were not able to tell me when they could fix it. I will begin proceedings to dispute the charge. Do not ever get service at this place. Second update...The issues have been resolved, so far I've added 16 oz of fluid. I was refunded for the idlers that were replaced that were not bad. Unfortunately this should never have happened. Weingartz has lost me and probably more as customers. This is my memory of Weingartz and it will be shared when anyone asks me about the business. read more

Brought in my self-propelled mower for service. Contractor had done work in our yard and left rocks everywhere (along with damaging multiple things in the yard) and I was submitting a request for reimbursement so I SPECIFICALLY asked if they could determine if there was any damage as a result. I needed them to check for this before submitting my reimbursement- it was written on the ticket. It took them forever to finally call me to tell me what needed to be fixed and how much it would be and I asked if they had anything to report for the reimbursement. They had no idea. Hadn't even checked. I told them I wasn't about to pay them for the check if they didn't check the one thing I needed them to check. Went back and forth a bit before one of the sales guys finally just said, "We're not gonna charge her for it." (One star) I rolled my mower out and never went back. Contractor never had to pay for that damage if there was any since I had to submit before the window closed. read more

We bought a cub cadet 2 years ago at Weingartz in Ann Arbor and was told if we had the yearly maintenance done there (to the tune of $339) once a year would extend the warranty. Last year (first year) no problem. This year we called in the middle of February so we would have it ready to go when we needed it. On April 22nd my husband went to use it and found that oil was filled way over where it should have been, the oil filter has wrench marks all over it, and the drain plug doesnt look like it has been touched. And the when I pulled out the receipt we found that we were given someone else's receipt in February (from Dec 24'). I didnt notice the name on it, just called and paid it. My husband called on April 22nd was told they would come and get it on Friday April 25th and they would get to it "as soon as they could" because they were really busy. They messed up and now we have to wait, not cool. I drove the 40 minutes to the store the next day on April 23rd and explained that we came there because we thought they were a reputable dealer, we had called in February so we wouldnt have to wait, and now having to wait was not acceptable. They came the next day, Thursday April 24th and picked it and said they would bring it back. I called today, April 29th, first was told they couldn't find the order, i found my copy and when i gave them the order number was told "oh it is done". I asked when they were going to bring it back and was told they could on Friday, May 2nd. I tried again to explain that continuing to wait was not acceptable, that we have a good 6 acres to mow and our grass is getting pretty high. Was told May 2nd was the soonest. I called around lunch on the 2nd to confirm that they would be delivering it and asked for a time. I was told they didnt have a time that they would call when they were coming and it could be as late as 6 or 7pm. I explained that we needed to leave for out of town at 5pm and i needed it before i left. It was delivered at 230pm. All this being said, we will continue to have them do the yearly maintenace on our lawn mower for the next few years to extend the warranty (we will definitely be checking it close after each one), but for future purchases i will be going somewhere else as I am not at all happy with this whole situation. read more

I don't know if the positive reviews of this place were paid for or if I just encountered a much different experience from the majority of others. I dropped off a single stage snowblower and a push lawn mower for maintenance and each needed a small repair. I explained the issues to the service rep who did my paperwork and was told the turnaround would be about 7-10 days. After two weeks past the expected completion date I had not heard anything. You'd think they would call and say "Sorry for the delay, here's why and here's the new expected completion date". After three weeks past the completion date (one month after dropping them off) I called them to inquire about the status. I was transferred to the service department where I was on hold for quite awhile before someone answered. I gave him the invoice number and he said a part that was ordered for the lawn mower arrived but he couldn't say why it wasn't fixed yet. "Let me check with the guys in the back and call you right back"....only he never did. I stopped by in person two days later to once again try and figure out what's going on. The person I dealt with in person pulls up the paperwork and says "Oh they were completed today" but of course they never called to tell me and it took me coming in to find that out. The only reason I was given for why I had the experience for everything listed above was "Sorry, we're short staffed right now". So if you're thinking about doing business here I suggest taking it elsewhere because they're too busy to give a crap about decent customer service. read more

They will hold your items for a fee and up sell you a new product, offer you a warranty and then when you bring the product back after an issue they will make sure to find a way not to honor the warranty as soon as you talk someone without even looking properly at the product. I had a great experience at Weingartz during my recent visit to purchase a new lawnmower. True to form, I had researched Consumer Reports prior to shopping, narrowing my choice to a couple Honda lawnmowers. After a quick search of the area, it appeared that Weingartz is the sole purveyor of Honda lawnmowers. With the help of Bill, a sales representative, I quickly made my purchase. I found the prices competitive with the big box stores with far superior quality of product and service. I paid an extra $30 (approx.) to have my mower assembled, gased, and oiled in store. That price also includes five blade sharpenings (recommend: once/year for a small yard). After my lawnmower was ready, which only added a few minutes to my trip, Bill took my purchase out to my car where he showed me how to use it. Overall, a fantastic shopping experience with knowledgable and helpful sales representatives. I highly recommend Weingartz. Thank you, Bill! read more

I took my cub cadet Z100 to Weingartz service dept with a oil leak. After explaining the location of the leak, I left the mower for repair. After 9 days they called and said it was done. They delivered it with the same oil leak as before. They did a simple 15 min O ring replacement on the oil filter. Totally unnecessary! The oil leak was at the base of the engine. Charged me $336.00. ​service Manager did not answer phone or return my call from his answering machine. I was warned by several people not to go there. Now that we have the parts at home and hubby has time to work on the riding lawnmower, we discover ANOTHER messed up problem with the Jackson Road Weingartz parts department. The part that was ordered and paid for and waiting for us at the store ... and given to a customer who was in the store ... we still don't have that. And they haven't called us to tell us it's in. (It's been a few weeks.) Two gaskets and an O-ring -- we received double what we requested, without paying more, due to the confusion at the parts counter when we picked them up. Another part that hubby paid for ... we didn't receive, even though the receipt says we received it. What a mess! I really think we should stay away from this place. Hubby says the lady at the parts counter is very nice. But nice didn't get us the parts we wanted, so I have to downgrade this place by one more star. Next time, we order online and save all the trouble, confusion and gas money! read more

I've visited Weingartz's service department numerous times for parts and service. They've always been super helpful for parts - even for a single bolt. Other times they've explained or shown me how to take something apart. I recently took a large snowblower in since it was way too cold to work on it in the garage and I was getting in over my comfort / patience level with a carburetor issue. It came back running better than it every has and starts better than ever. Knowledgeable and friendly. Wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend their service. read more

Update: After writing about my negative experience with Weingartz' service, I was quickly contacted by the store manager. He showed up at my house, apologized sincerely, took ownership of the issues, gave me a generous store gift card, and offered to have someone mow my lawn since it had gotten so far out of hand due to the delays. He followed through on his offer and one of his guys is out mowing now. While the issues I experienced were frustrating, once Weingartz management became fully aware of my situation they handled it perfectly, so I'm upgrading my rating to a more neutral 3 stars. They didn't make excuses and they did everything possible to make it right. I will definitely give them another chance next time I need service. read more

Service at Weingartz is awful. My husband, Cary Johnson, had his mower brought in 2 weeks ago. He calls periodically to get an update - since they don't call us. Today, about 2 1/2 weeks, he called Service to find out the status. He was transferred about 3 times - one time to another city! Finally he left a message with Customer Service and we just got a call. The same message though - mower being worked on now and ready today or tomorrow. Unfortunately they have been telling my husband this for a week! We would not recommend service here! read more

I brought my Honda snowblower in today, December 30, because it would not start. The man (I neglected to ask his name) helped me unload it from my van, he asked me how old was the fuel. I told him it was old. He said that was the cause. He told me he would drain it out and that would take care of it. He was right! Not only did he drain it out and get it running, but he also filled up the tank. I asked him how much do I owe, he said nothing and helped me load it back into my van. I fully expected a two week turnaround time and to pay about 100 bucks or more, but I was in and out in about 20 minutes and there was no charge. Sure am glad bought it at Weingartz. Great customer service! When I got home, I used it to cut out the bottom of my driveway that had been plowed in. read more

This spring when I try to start up my lawn mower and it clearly had seen better days. I compared prices with the big box stores and then Weingartz. Weingartz gave me the exact same price not to mention the fact they are local and I know any type of service I need will be covered. Plus actually knowing the sales people and the parts department people by name means a lot to me. Then last week I tried starting up my weed whip and the engine seized. Once again made a phone call to my friends at Weingartz. An hour later I picked up my brand-new self-seeding echo weed whip with a full tank and full of line. It's a rare thing to get customer service like this these days. I have done retail for over 20 years and I absolutely respect the quality and customer service of this company. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've visited this store 3 times in the last two months to buy parts for a blower I bought here and each time had the exact same horrible customer service experience; tonight was the last straw. I walked into the store at 5:15 and the lone service rep behind the parts counter was helping the person in front of me, I was next in line, a few minutes later another woman walked in and stood behind me. After 15 minutes of still being next in line I realized that nobody had said to us "someone will be with you in a minute" or thank you for your patience we'll be right with you", nothing was said. As I looked around the showroom I counted seven other employees standing around talking to each other, no they weren't helping customers they were just bullshitting with each other. They didn't dare look at me for fear that it might bring an end to their important conversation and they might be obligated to help me so I could GIVE THEM MY MONEY. I then walked over to the sales counter and asked for the store manager, minutes later James Moeller came out and I told him that despite several employees standing around nobody was helping me or the other woman in line. He simply said "I'm sorry" that was it; not how can I help you, or what is it that you need and no other worthless employees came over when they overheard my conversation with him. I told James that I will never come back to this place, ever. Again he said nothing. So here's my question: How far does one have to go up the Weingartz chain of command before someone cares about customer service? Because I can tell you this, it sure isn't James Moeller or any other talking heads on the sales floor. If I could give this place a negative 5 stars I would. read more

I would avoid this place if at all possible, at least the Ann Arbor store. When I was initially shopping for a riding lawn mower the Ann Arbor store sold me a mower that they didn't actually have, were super quick to take my money, and super slow to return it. I ended up having to drive to the Utica location to purchase a mower (my salesman, Paul, was really good. Very helpful. Very pleasant). Anyway, two weeks after I bought the mower I was mowing my yard and one of the blades fell off. I requested service and was contacted by the Ann Arbor store who told me that I would have to pay to transport the mower to and from the store for repairs and that if they perceived there to be any damage to the blade then the warranty was invalidated and I would have to pay for repairs. Really? On a two week old mower with less than two hours of use? I emailed the store and informed them that I would not be paying for transportation or repairs as this was a brand new mower. The following day I contacted the store to speak to the manager, Steve, who answered the phone and stated "I know who you are. I know where you live. I know where you work. I looked you up". Really, bro? I'd really like you to do something with that information. It seemed a little stalkerish and unnecessary but I guess some people's ego's are a little fragile. I fully expect to get a phone call indicating that they will not honor the warranty. Thank goodness for employee sponsored legal services! read more

Horrible return policies, different standards, depending how much you spend. I used to own a landscape company, spending tens of thousands every year, never had an issue returning something that did not meet my expectations after use, even a 10k stand on aerator. Now that I am just a homeowner, the return policy is different, once you use it for the smallest of time, you own it for good. At salesman's suggestion, I purchased a Stihl battery powered blower and trimmer. I used the trimmer for less than 1 minute and realized immediately this equipment would not work for me. I wiped off the few blades of grass under the guard and tried to return the 2 items (about $300), but without examining the equipment to see it was still brand new, the manager refused the return, stating their policy is they cannot return ANY equipment that has been used. The manager made this decision from his/her office, never coming to speak with me, then he/she has ignored my email. I may not spend 10,000 to 100,000 a year on equipment any longer, but whatever I spend, I can guarantee not a cent of it will be spent at Weingartz. read more

We have been going there since it opened (maybe 2011?) and many of the employees have been there since it opened - a tribute to the manager and the company. The prices are fair (if not low) and the service is great when you need repairs on any lawn and garden equipment you own, regardless of brand. I own a commercial lawn and snow company. A few years ago I bought an Exmark mower from them. In December I tried to buy a $6000 plow. Was told it would be $6800. Asked if they could match a competitor's price of 6 even. Was told they would call back they were busy in the showroom. I called back an hour later, started from zero. I was told they would call me back again. They called back and told me that the price they came up with was $6800. I said, I have a quote from your largest, nearest competitor of $6000. They said they would call me back. A comedy of errors on how to sell! Today, I called needing service on that mower. Talking to a rep, identified myself, we had a lengthy conversation. The rep lost my signal and kept asking "are you there"? I keep saying "yes, can you hear me now"? He says" try calling back. We have a bad connection and hangs up. I tried to call back. Multiple redirects and I ended up in voice mail. I am sorry, but if you know who you are talking to, and you get cut off. Call that customer back! I am now a happy customer of their nearest, largest competitor. Are you a homeowner? Good luck. Business owner? You had better have low standards for service. read more

Took an old lawnmower in for blade sharpening. They got the blades off and sharpened in 10 minutes, fixed a squeaky wheel, and even gave me a coupon that lowered the price. My service guy was a little quirky (mainly a dry sense of humor, I think) but he came through in the end. read more

I could not believe my experience at Weingartz on Jackson ave Ann Arbor. I walked in with nobody at the counter with four parts counter guys and one old broad, and nobody recognized my standing there for at least ten minutes. At last one parts guy kind of wanted to talk to me and immediately stated you have a problem, I responded back really don't think so and explained I have grasp on the mechanical issue just need a new pull cord and do not understand how to install. the whole dance started now: You have to leave it, can't handle now, lets ask the old broad. She didn't even look at me and said basically screw this guy. After all that they can not even repair my weed wacker because it is a Ryobi. Excuse me! I am in the automotive fixed back end business and would never turn down repair work! It is apparent when the dad died, the sons are driving the business to the ground. And with auto dealers they do the same. If I were in charge or management, this company would have recognized all model repair and parts, with the idea when I actually need to buy new, they were number one.
