I wanted to update this review. I was able to get in touch with upper management in regards to this situation. Once they heard what had happened, the product was delivered destroyed, they stood behind it and shipped a new one and picked up the destroyed one. I can say I am happy with the way it was handled in the end. The sales rep needs some training on how to deal with situations in which the product is delivered with defects or in this case destroyed. I cannot recommend this place. They have nice appliances, and the sales people are nice to deal with (hence 2 stars), however that is where it ends. These appliance places NEED to rely on RELIABLE third parties...like plumbers to connect your dishwashers, and warranty companies to take care of things if you get a lemon. The plumber they sent to install the fancy new high-end dishwasher 6 years ago, installed some hoses incorrectly which led to a flood in my kitchen, and our needing to pull up our floors from the kitchen all the way to the front door. Thankfully we have insurance (although after this claim our rates were hiked so high we had to switch). We should have learned the first time. We bought a top-of-the-line 4-door Frigidaire $3,500 fridge there 4 years ago. We've needed several small fixes in that time, but dealing with the warranty company has been HORRIFIC. Witbeck and Big Georges use "Centricity". Well, our fridge is now on the fritz after4 years (the freezer is no longer freezing and everything has melted), and ice-maker dripping, and as of yesterday there is a loud buzzing sound -- and we cannot get a call back to save our lives, even though they've "escalated" the situation. If I instead chose to call a local appliance company they would be here in 24 hours. We are going on 6 days, with no sign of service and no promises of anything! I am sick to my stomach. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS, and they will give you a POS warranty. Hey, Witbeck/Big George's...do better! And, Mark...don't bother with the damage control here. Extremely Disappointed -- Poor Damage Handling & Inadequate Compensation I spent over $27,000 on appliances from Big George's--refrigerator, oven, stove, and speed oven. What should have been a straightforward delivery turned into a frustrating, year-long ordeal that ended in small claims court. During delivery in March 2024, their team dropped a nearly 500-pound refrigerator off our porch while it was still on a dolly, damaging the concrete at our entryway. The entire incident was recorded on our doorbell camera. Despite admitting fault, Big George's initially offered only $200 or a patch repair--solutions that multiple independent contractors deemed unacceptable due to weather exposure, color mismatch, and long-term durability. Four contractors--including Midwest Construction, Dexter Concrete, Santoro Tile and Masonry, and Michigan Rose Construction--recommended full replacement of the damaged section, with bids ranging from $3,500 to $5,350. One wrote: "Patching is a temporary fix in this climate and will not blend with the existing concrete. Full replacement is necessary for structural and aesthetic reasons." Even Big George's own operations manager acknowledged liability. Still, the company refused to restore the damage properly. It wasn't until a small claims judgment--over a year later--that I received a mere $235.86. For a company that claims to be customer-focused and reputable, this experience was anything but caring. Their handling of the situation was dismissive, slow, and grossly inadequate--especially considering the scale of my purchase and their clear responsibility. If you're considering Big George's, be warned: if something goes wrong, you may be left to deal with the consequences on your own. read more

Get ready for a GREAT review. We purhased a full kitchen of appliances (large refrigerator, double oven, dishwasher, cooktop), a sizable delivery. We were in the midst of a total renovation: demo was done, walls coming apart, commercial equipment everywhere. Andrew and Chris Y were delivering. They told me they were coming in the morning and gave me a link I could use to track the truck. I could easily see where they were, then the first stop, and I was second. Very good tracking when you want to see what's happening. All the appliances were delivered perfectly. Andrew and Chris had a tricky path to navigate, and were super-professional in navigating walls, corners, hanging lights so nothing was touched. Frankly, having moved some stuff myself, I was amazed at how carefully and smoothly they moved these mountains of stuff. So yes, I can only give five stars here but my opinion is 10 on a scale of 1 to 5! If you get Andrew and Chris, you will get two experts who are super-careful about your home, know how to un-crate your valuable purchases, and get them where they need to go. I recently bought a Bosch induction range from them, with installation. We pay extra $100 adding to the existing installation in order to make it right. It was not totally evenly installed and we were told that was best they could do. After using for a period, we realized that really caused the problem cooking on an uneven surface. The oil stayed one side of pan when cooking. We called Big George and hope they could fix it. They asked for another $100 for the adjustment. We knew this is a simple adjustment but because of lack of strength, we could not do it. They said the manager would call to discuss, but it never happened. We used them to support the community store. Very disappointing! We could buy from Costco which could be more responsible! read more

It started with Logan who helped me greatly in selecting many appliances: a washer and dryer; refrigerator; built in oven; and dishwasher. He really knew his stuff and which specific appliances had the features that were important to me. He also stressed customer service. That is why I bought all five appliances! Chris the salesman was very nice,,,that is where is customer service ended. I purchased 4 appliances. Upon delivery, they were literally dropped off in the garage. Upon inspection, both the refrigerator And the range were both damaged! After much back and forth between multiple phone calls, texts and emails, I was told to contact Whirlpool for resolution....Ha. Good luck getting in touch with them. Additionally Whirlpool Stated the6 Do not replace damaged items only " repair!" I should not Have to accept defective, damaged on delivery appliances and have to have them repaired before they are even used. Finally got the store to reorder them. Got a text the day of delivery, the second time, saying the box was "compromised" and range reordered...again. Finally the week before Thanksgiving my "new, new range arrived. He staTed am only here to drop off the new appliances and NOT to bring them into the house to be installed...only exchanging defective range. My understanding now (after further phone calls) is I am responsible for getting a 400 lb frig out of the house so that a"team" may come this following Tuesday...2 days before Thanksgiving . I had been in need of a new washing machine for a short while and found out about Big George's Appliances from a Facebook post. It was so nice to get old school customer service! The moment we walked in we were greeted by a gentleman who pleasantly asked what our needs were and directed us where we wanted to go; you could tell he enjoyed his job. We met Brad in the washer & dryer area and he was very helpful and did Not try to sell me what I didn't want. I told him, "I don't need a lot of bells and whistles on it, as I basically use the same setting for almost everything I wash." Of the options he showed me he was: very knowledgeable about the different settings and their energy ratings, why 1 cycle is better for ABC versus another, how energy efficient different machines were, water usage concerns, even pros/cons of traditional agitators in the middle and drum agitators. He was patient answering my questions, if he didn't know the answer he looked it up right there. Brad was very professional yet personable and I was at ease throughout this experience. When completing the sales process we talked about where we were from and the days of independent appliance stores, his experience in the field and before we left he asked if we were going to stick around the Ann Arbor area and explore or head back towards home in Dearborn. We asked him to recommend a good place for dinner and he gave us several options, which all sounded great. Before we left I wanted to look around and see what all the store had to offer and there were several model "kitchens" with fabulous ideas for countertops, backsplash tiles, sinks, cabinets etc. Plus a nice BBQ section with smokers and multiple types of wood pellets, in bags stacked like you would find bags of dirt at a nursery/gardening store. The store itself was very clean, organized well and staff all had classy Friday casual dress with name tags. They have their own parking lot. I feel I paid a fair price for my washer which was marked down a bit $550-580 range and after fees were added $730ish. Big Georges left a damaged refrigerator and promised to fix it. We should have made them take it back immediately. BG's service and Mike the manager from Ann Arbor quickly passed it off as a warranty issue with GE. GE came out the first time, no parts. Second time, the wrong part. Third time they shipped the same "wrong" part. BG's manager has not returned a call as he said he would. Salesperson says it not his issue to resolve. I would not trust any of Big George's staff to tell the truth or follow thru on an issue. Our money for a new refrigerator went to Big Georges, they should make this issue right. Shopped at two local appliance stores for a washer & dryer, one big box, and one "specialty" showroom. Really liked the salesman, Josh, here but decided to go with the so-called specialty outlet. Turned out to be a bad experience having the unit being delayed twice and over 3 months from the order to possibly be delivered. In the meantime, our washing machine completely broke down. Had the order canceled and went back to Josh at Whitbeck. Josh had the new GE Profile ventless washer/dryer delivered in 3 days! Josh is a pleasure to work with, knowledgeable, and understands good customer service. Roberto and Juan who delivered the unit had quite a task on their hands getting a new large combo unit down to the basement with tight stairs/turns. They did it with the utmost concern and care and successfully got it down. These guys are super! Bottom line...this would have been the best choice to begin with. They had the best prices and most importantly superb customer service. BTW...this new GE combo all-in-one washer/dryer so far is a GAME CHANGER! I'm really sorry to post a negative review of Big George's. Our family has been a loyal customer of Big George's for over thirty years purchasing generations of kitchen and laundry appliances with good outcomes. Their showroom and selection are great, and visiting the showroom is also fine. Unfortunately, over the past few years, actual customer service - after they took our money - has plummeted. I've had two bad experiences in the past two years - 1) incompetent and unqualified installers with no or insufficient electrical training, and 2) absolutely no salesperson followup after I paid for installation estimate. For the incopetent installation, I was offered a refund of the installation fee with no followup or refund despite my sending reminders for weeks. For the recent install estimate, the installers were great - once they arrived; after I called the dispatch # on my receipt, I was told that the salesperson did not send them the order, and then after the installers made their assessment and told me the salesperson would follow up, I've heard nothing. Big Georges needs to do much better to re-earn our trust and any more of our money - especially for installations. read more

I purchased a refrigerator last year and after a few months I realized it was not keeping the freezer at the correct temperature. It was under warranty and the sales person who helped me initially gave me a number to call. The service person came over and stated that it was installed incorrectly causing damage to the door over time, and it was no longer sealing properly. The door would need to be replaced. I talked to whirlpool and it was not covered under their warranty as it was the installer's fault. I contacted the sales person as well as the store via email and no one has responded in any way. My freezer is now useless and my only option is to pay to have it fixed. read more

Big love for Big George! Being relatively new to Ann Arbor, I didn't even know Big George's was a thing. As far as I knew appliances came from big box stores. But then one day, I saw one of their trucks making a delivery, and a little light went on inside my head. It said, "We have a local appliance store in Ann Arbor!" I filed that fact away for the day it might come in handy. When we moved into our new house, we needed a dryer. Stat! But it was in the midst of a pandemic, and everyone was sold out of everything. Somehow Big George's still had one that was pretty close to the one I wanted. So I bought it! Their delivery team came in wearing masks. They had to remove the door to the basement to get the machine downstairs. Then they had to take out the old drier vent which was a mess. But they did everything quickly, cleanly, and professionally. Everything was great. Maybe it was a little more expensive than it would have been with a big box retailer, but I felt good about supporting a local business. The expense did give me pause when it came time to order a washing machine. So for that I went with a big box retailer. That team arrived without masks. While the instal team got the washer in place, it was a bit of a mess and not nearly as professional. Plus I had to remove the door to the basement myself. So now I'm a Big George's customer. I have since ordered a chest freezer from Chad, and just had John over to take some measurements of my kitchen, so we can make sure the new appliances are perfect for the space! John even popped into the attic to check on the viability of installing a ventilated hood above the stove, which was beyond the scope of work. Big George's has my utmost confidence. Everyone I have spoken to has been wonderful, and they show up when expected within a reasonably narrow time window. Today's slot was from 2p-5p, and if I recall correctly the big box store required me to block off the full day. While I know my next purchase might be available for less money elsewhere, I am thrilled with the service and professionalism of this great local business. I'm so glad I saw their truck and that this awful pandemic brought us together. read more

While replacing a dead 5 year refrigerator is NEVER a fun task- my buying and installation experience was terrific. My salesman at the Big George's Clearance center was knowledgeable and very helpful. The installation with Andrew H and Zac was over the top easy, and it was verging on fun. They took care with my house; tight turns with wood trim. They explained the procedures to follow for the first 24 hours with ice and water. Great experience. read more

Wanted to support local business versus big box...and it started out great. We came home from vacation to a dead refrigerator and they hooked us up within a day. Then that one went bad in less than a year. Got a replacement, transferred the extended warranty...and the second went bad in less than 2 years. Their warranty partner, EPIC, was an absolute nightmare. Took more than 2 months to get them to come look at it because "the app says it's fine". Then another 2 months for them to acknowledge it was unrepairable. At one point we were told we could "find our own service and apply for reimbursement". Had to go to the showroom in person and pitch a fit to get any attention to the matter...then it took another month to get a check for $700 less than we originally paid. BUYER BEWARE! We ordered $4500 in appliances between a fridge, washer, and dryer. The ordering process was smooth but it after they get your money its all down hill from there. Our fridge wasn't delivered on time ( I had to call at 1pm to be told we weren't in their schedule) and the washer and dryer were severely back ordered (which is fine if there was communication) After 2 months of waiting we finally got our washer and dryer. Turns out the wrong dryer was ordered (1 number was off ) I have called and emailed numerous times to our showroom salesman and to the online + showroom sales manger with no response. This has been going on for 2 weeks will no resolution. They will ghost you if you have any issues. This isn't the Big Georges they used to be 10 years ago. Sales staff is friendly but I would not recommend this store at all. We purchased a GE Monogram oven and dishwasher in 2019 and had to replace both of them this year. The oven broke twice, fortunately the first time under warranty but the second time we paid $400 to fix it and it stopped working again this year. We purchased a new microwave oven over the phone. The old one seemed to have stopped working. The store was able to schedule a delivery quickly with exactly the model we wanted. When the delivery crew arrived, they were willing to test the old microwave before removing it. They found it working and reset the various settings. They happily returned the new unit to the store saving us money. The crew arrived ahead of the scheduled window. They put footies over their shoes so as not to track in dirt. They were businesslike, personable, and upbeat. It was a real pleasure working with them! We will happily continue shopping at Big George's! read more

Our dishwasher shorted out and never came back to life after a power outage this summer. We knew pretty much what we were looking for, and when we went into the showroom in A2, Austin was super friendly and helpful. After we'd looked at a few options and let them know what we were looking for, he noted that they did have one exactly like what we wanted in stock, and we got it. Super service! And where Big George's really shines is on the 5-year warranty and the installation. They delivered within a week, Joey and Brandon were super helpful, answered all of our questions, installed a new balanced electric connection, and did everything exactly as we asked for it to be set up.
