I ordered a birthday cake for my granddaughter. I picked up the cake on Saturday. The cake had two major cracks in the design. I was told it could not be fixed. I had to take the cake because the party was at noon. I did get a small discount on the half of sheet cake. Fifteen dollars on a $55.00 cake. The point is the cake was ruined but I had no alternative. My granddaughter was upset and it ruined the tone of the party. THE CAKE WAS A DISASTER. read more

I will go out of my way to not shop there because of the self-checkout. The selection is 'moderate', the prices aren't great, and the self-checkout is so bad that I will go 30 minutes out of my way to not shop there. Last time I went there, I had to have someone 'clear the system' 8 times. I waited 5 minutes just to finish processing my credit card. This is the worst designed point of sale system that I have ever seen. The staff are great and patient, but this seems like a system that's designed to turn away shoppers. read more

I will never go back to the Weis market in Lewes, Delaware. I have been shopping there for about 4 years, but I am done. On December 28th I waited 5 minutes for assistance, with lights flashing, saying help was on the way. Two employees ignored me. One just looked the other way and the other was simply inattentive. I had to firmly call out for help. The Weis self checkout system is the worst I have ever experienced. It improperly detects empty bags and items placed on the bagging area. Whoever designed or maintains this system should be fired. I also regularly shop at the Weis in Westminster, Maryland. The checkout system is just as bad, but at least the employees there are very attentive, helpful, and friendly. With many other grocery stores to choose from, why would anyone choose Weis. read more

Their employees are wonderful but that is where is stops! Weis took over from Food Lion and it has been down hill for Lewes ever since. But this spring they showed their true colors. The price hikes in time for the tourists have been outrageous. Their organic vegetables and fruit doubled in price as well as the regular fruit. Frozen foods as well as staples all increased across the board. I understand when their is a national trend as in eggs right now, but to just price gouge is really a shame. But they are showing their true colors. Now here is where it gets really awful - their staff are wonderful and always try to help when they can. Avoid this market location. There are only self-checkouts and unless you have all day to check out find another market. This market is the most unfriendly user market I've ever been to. Their prices are high enough and now they expect you to check yourself out and bag as well?? One needs a lot of patience to shop in this store! I was told at their corporate office that any of their checkouts can have a checker man the register but the management insist on the self-checkouts. The absolute worst self checkout's out there. The people who should actually be checking the customer out, stand around looking at their cell- phones. I work all week. I am doing the employees job for them. The voice activated "please move your items to the checkout area, all items must be moved to the checkout area" is repeated with every scanned item. Somehow, Target's self -checkouts do not say a word to you, your in and out. Weis you need to do better. It is maddening to see your employees standing around doing nothing but being grocery police. read more

If something goes wrong, Weis will make it right. I placed an online delivery order that was not processed correctly and I was significantly overcharged. I spoke with Cassandra in customer service and she handled the communication with the store who researched and agreed with my issue. I spoke with Ray at the Lewes store and was given an immediate credit for the error. I also received a call from the district manager apologizing for the issue and received additional compensation for my trouble. It's easy to complain about the small issues but sometimes you really get to see how good a company is by how they rectify mistakes. I also shopped in the store early on in the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and the employees were friendly and helpful even when the customers were difficult. Weis has a good selection of products, including some specialty items not always found in regular grocery stores. read more

We stopped for groceries during a stay in the Rehoboth/Lewes area. The staff were SO pleasant, even walking me to the product when I asked where to find something. The store was clean, well staffed - with plenty of check out staff!! I did not even see a self-check thank goodness! HATE that! I thought the prices were very reasonable, product selection excellent including a robust flower stand with reasonable prices, and a gluten free selection of foods unlike any I have ever seen! We stocked up before heading home. Wish this store was near me. read more

Inadequate staffing even by covid standards. They wanted to charge me $1-$2 per shopping bag after self- checkout because that particular checkout aisle was out of plastic ( no charge ) bags. The self- checkout asst. declined to stock our aisle even while other counters had bags. Their produce has poor selection. I used to like their groceries but I won't be back! read more

To put it as succinctly as possible, Higher than average prices. Lower than average selection. Much lower than average customer service. The worst checkout process ; strictly self service with no disabled accommodations with extraordinarily rude employees that bring with them a greater than thou attitude to southern Delawareans. Food lion at this location wasn't the best but they had real cashiers, competitive pricing and maintained a clean store. but Weis on the other hand, is horrible. read more

This isn't my go-to grocery store, but I decided to stop in to see if they had a few things my typical grocery store does not. They did! Like most Weis markets, this store is not particularly "nice"; the aisles are rather narrow, and things aren't displayed in an upscale fashion. It's hard to describe, but it's definitely not one of the higher-end grocery stores, or even one of the nicer middle-tier grocery stores. It's more of a budget grocery store. That knowledge has to guide your experience at Weis. It won't feel really nice, but you can get some good deals there. I was able to get a 3 lb bag of Honeycrisp apples for $6 (and they're out of season), but unfortunately, when I got home I discovered that there were pretty substantial rotten portions that I wasn't able to see while they were in the bag. But I had still paid less than I would have at my typical grocery store. Similarly, the produce didn't look great or super fresh, but it was all a good price. I was also able to get some toiletry items that other grocery stores don't carry (a 10-pack of knee high stockings for $6). So that saves me a separate trip to the drugstore. Self checkout was not easy, as there was no attendant there. A worker did, however, ask me if I needed help as I was perusing the produce, which I'd count as good customer service. I probably wouldn't make this my go-to grocery store (and it's not as easy to access for me as the grocery stores on Route 1), but the prices are definitely lower and the selection is good. read more

Stopped at Weis in Lewes de after work yesterday and that is where I have been doing my shopping for over 30 years here and in pa and will not be buying groceries any longer if I have to check myself out. There is no reason people are not running the registers. I did not have a problem when we had to start bagging our own groceries but enough is enough and for me you have lost no less then 500.00 a month. If you want people to do all the work then give us a discount of no less then 25 percent off our bill. Who takes care of the elderly the ones in wheelchairs or walkers. Don't get it you are paying people to stand there and watch the customers do all the work. Wonder why our country is getting lazy because they don't have to put in a days work just stand there. Wake up weis people are really ripping you off now and I heard this from a few people who say they don't ring up all of those groceries. Goodbye weis until you put people on the registers. I have been going this market for three years; It has been getting bad waiting in line for one register to check you out. If I have one or two item I do self check out. Prices are just ok but not great. Today was a joke. The one open register was closing the poor women looked exhausted, started self check out had a problem said someone would come. Happened to two other people stopped working had a problem. Had an employee waive someone would be over and kept walking. Ten minutes later walked out and left groceries. Horrible service at Weiss - really sad. Got a fancy new store card, maybe they should save the money mailing new cards and hire some employee's. Plenty of other stores around. read more

The store in Lewes is the most well stocked Food Store we have experienced and we have shopped many different food stores. The specials are awesome. The staff is helpful and friendly. The only negative is that some displays do not have prices. I spent more than 40 years in retail and always made sure EVERYTHING was priced. The store in Lewes is a great store! read more

I just left my local Weis grocery store. The aisles were crowed with goods. I had to wind around kiosks selling all sorts of items. I bumped into the corner of the salad cart which was at the end of an aisle. Paper napkins fell on the floor. At another corner the plastic bags fell on the floor because they were standing on top of the counter, not contained. More goods were being brought in by more workers. This continued to crowd the aisles. As I checked out, two employees were talking at a register. They said they were closed and Seemed oblivious to the lines at the other check outs. Only three check outs were open. Each had at least three people waiting in line. At my line the checker was having a casual conversation with the customer about the difference between Direct tv and Verizon services. When I asked her to move the roller so I could continue to load my groceries, she snapped, I just finished with my customer! I'm disgusted with the surly help and the crowded aisles. If this isn't improved, you've lost another customer. read more

HORRIBLE! Some products are not priced correctly. Employees in deli are many times oblivious to the fact there are customers there. I emailed Weis about my 20 Minute wait for service being 2nd in line. I never heard from them. If you want some second hand smoke, their employees will be more than happy to comply since they standout front and smoke. The Asia on Rt 1 is awful too. read more

This place is cluttered and looks dirty. Long lines to check out. Lots of workers smoking outside the day I was there. Food looks old and not fresh. The whole place needs to be inspected by health department. read more

I have visited every supermarket in the Lewes/Rehoboth area and the Weis at 5 Points is by far the worst. Signage is constantly wrong which you find out at checkout. Then the cashiers are arrogant and slow and act like they are doing you a favor correcting their mistakes. The meat and seafood is outrageously priced and of poor quality. And on the weekends I have gone in to purchase bread and dairy products only to find the shelves empty. I have lived in many states and have gone to many different supermarkets and this Weis is one of the worst I have ever seen. The company needs to take a hard look at the store manager. read more

I've been in the store six or seven times. I believe the last time will be the last. Every time I go in to this store I walk out frustrated and angry. It literally ruins my day to go into this store. There is chaos, most of what I go in for is never in stock and the ice cream once you get it home you can see it must've set out and completely thawed and then was refrozen. I've had this happen to four or 5 half gallons of by Weis nonfat frozen yogurt and Italian ices. Any staff I have come in contact with is unfriendly. The newly installed self checkout registers rarely ever work. There was a Food Lion in Millsboro that was also bought out by Weis market, I have no complaints at all about that one. read more
