The winery and grounds are stunning. They have two buildings for tastings inside and plenty of outdoor seating. It was a little drizzly on our visit, but the views are wonderful and lots of space. It is family and dog friendly. The main area was pretty full so we sauntered over to the other tasting room. The person working wasn't at the top of her game that day. But hey, we all have those days, right? I could tell she wasn't really into answering a lot of questions, so I held off. I like dry wines and they were decent. I think the grounds were more impressive than the wine, but I would give it another visit. read more

This had to be one of the best looking tasting rooms we went to in the Finger Lakes. They have gradually expanded so they actually have 3 different areas you can taste at, the original school house, the barn, and the new modern tasting room. The tasting barn has floor to ceiling windows so you can see the lake. There is also a rather large outdoor area with tables on a deck, picnic tables, and some corn hole boards to hang out and get a bottle. Now the wines were all great, the Riesling's were so good (some of our favorites) and the Guwertz (also have trouble spelling the full word) were also so good. They also had a couple ice wines which are always a favorite of mine to at least try. Definitely worth making a stop, whether you can schedule a tasting or to just casually grab some bottles. Our host was extremely friendly and gave the perfect amount of insight and discussion around each wine mix with enough of a hands off approach that didn't make you feel smothered nor in a lecture hall. Wide array of wines from many different reislings (go figure for the finger lakes) to rosès to even ice and dessert wines. Lots of space to also buy and enjoy a couple bottles on the premises. Although the wines, and the tastings, are a little on the pricey side, the quality seems to match. The new, modern tasting room has a lot of glass to allow a view of the lake and the wine cellar. The server we had was extremely knowledgeable and efficient. I wouldn't say I loved everything I tasted, but most - and partly for the interest in the unusual. This was our first stop during our FLX trip. We had never been to FLX before and our knowledge of wine was very limited. Bob helped us with our tasting and taught us so much about the history of the winery, different types of wines, and wine making. We left with a whole new perspective on wine from when we walked in! Really gorgeous wine. The tasting room was inside their barn which was so rustic and fun. Really nice area. The owner-who gave us our tastings noticed we liked reds, so he offered us a few extra tastings that he thought we would enjoy. Which we really appreciated and did enjoy! He also gave us some great history of his family's winemaking. It's German style wine which is just done extremely well. We ended our day here and what a way to end it. The reds are just truly truly delicious. The cab franc was my favorite. We even left with a few bottles of wine. I know they're a "newer" winery but they are going to continue to do great things. Weis was so nice! I do have to give credit to our host Kelsey from Heron Hill who told about this place. We would not have known about it or visited this place, but I'm glad we drove over to the other side of Keuka Lake from where we were staying. Setting is beautiful, as were most of the places we saw in the Fingerlakes. The tasting area is very cool as it was an open and inviting barn with the tasting bars inside. We didn't have any reservations and our friendly host (I wish I got her name) saw us waiting and just called us over to sit at the bar. The tasting was $10 for 5 wines, and she did offer us a couple other tastes of bottles that were already open. Our host was warm, friendly and enthusiastic, gave great explanations of their German style dry wines. I tasted the Pinot Noir (different from all the california pinot noirs I've had as this had oak which was pleasant, not overdone at all, with bright fruit coming through), the Cab Franc, Winzer Select Riesling A, and I'm glad we got to try Schulhaus Red and Saperavi. The Schulhaus Red was definitely a highlight, their red blend, good enough to take home a bottle ($17.99). My wife had a deliciously oaked Chardonnay which also was not overdone, perfectly balanced, and we took home a couple bottles of that as well (%19.99). read more

So glad we finally checked out this wonderful winery on Keuka Lake! The wines are really delicious, particularly liked the whites and they had some good reds. Their "German-style" wines really capitalize on the grapes that grow best in the region. The tasting experience was informal and fun we really enjoyed Ann, our server. And the winery is welcoming and open and encourages guests to go down into the wine cellar and into the "Schulhous" next-door (the site of the original winery.) Their new building is stunning and modern and takes in a fabulous view of the lake. That alone was worth the price of entry. Highly recommend this winery on your tour of Keuka Lake. read more

Not only does Weis Vineyards have some of the best wines in the Finger Lakes, it also has some absolutely stunning views of Keuka Lake that you can enjoy on their vast outdoor seating or through their large, beautiful windows inside! We had a wonderful wine tasting with Spencer, who was excited, knowledgeable, and passionate about the wines and was helpful in picking our wine flight. Like his French neighbors, Weis Vineyards founder decided that Keuka Lake was the place to end his world wine tour. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the former Lime Berry was under new ownership. The new owner and winemaker stepped up to the tasting bar for us. Tastings were $5 for 5 samples, you keep the glass. Lime Berry glasses are going fast, soon to be replaced with new Weis glasses. Lime Berry wines are on the way out and Weis Germanic wines and popular reds like Cabernet are on the way in. We're looking forward to this new addition on the east side of Keuka. read more

I've been on the Keuka wine trail 3 times now and Weis definitely stands out. They have incredible wine that is crafted in the German style (which is great for the climate in the Finger Lake region), but more importantly the owner and staff are friendly and make the entire experience memorable. The atmosphere would fit any wine drinker as it's casual but at the same time upscale with regard to selection and information from the staff. It's an unassuming little tasting room, lacking the views and the splendor of some of the bigger wineries in the area... but the wines make up for it! I wish I could give this a higher rating - Weis Vineyards was one of our absolute favorite wine tastings of the 14 or so we tried along Keuka Lake throughout the weekend. Flavorful wines, personable owner and great atmosphere. On day 2 of our wine tour, this was our first stop. We whole heartedly liked every wine we tried and I can't say that for all the places we visited - nice finish, noticeable flavor and clean. We decided to buy one bottle of wine thinking we had a full day ahead - boy do I wish we bought more. The owners fiancée guided us through the tasting! She was so friendly and warm! Their story was very interesting and we could have talked to her for hours! The atmosphere was tastefully simple - no gifts/souvenirs, no trinkets (you know what I'm talking about) like you may see at some wineries. That way you really take in the architecture of the old schoolhouse it is set in and focus on the wine. I really feel the owners maintained the integrity of the space while highlighting their brand with pictures of the owner growing up. We are here a few more days and I've already told my husband we have to go back for a few more bottles and the port - oh my gosh the port! Not sugary but sweet like a nice local honey. You really taste the brandy. Definitely check this out - it may be new but it's definitely here to stay with good reason. read more

We are from Southern York County and drive to Weis at least every 3 months for wine. Weis has some of the finest wine I've ever enjoyed.

When they say German style, they mean German style! The winemaker (Peter) and his wife (Ashlee) have created an amazing culture! A visit to this Winery is a visit to Germany. The one-room school house is a show place for Peter's German heritage. And the wine, oh my! All the wine is made from local grapes, but the wine makers process puts a unique spin on this wine that has me putting a pin on the map to return. I especially loved the Rose and Gewurztraminer! As a mostly red wine drinker, it's rare for me to gravitate towards the white. Oh and I absolutely loved the fact that Peter considers all of the wines "his children!" And he loves them all the same, but develops them differently. I can't wait until they open the bistro next Spring!!!! This will become a destination, not just a place to visit! read more

This is my favorite winery on Keuka Lake! My best friend knows one of the owners and I had a pleasure of meeting her last summer and went to the winery. It was a cute small place and if my memory serves me correct, just getting going. Fast forward to two weeks ago. I made my yearly trip with my boyfriend to visit my best friend. He is a wine-o like me, so it was a must do with him. He was one happy camper. The owner has so much knowledge and love for the winery. They built a new barn to accommodate more people. If you go in a large group, I recommend calling ahead since space can still be limited, even with the barn. Tastings were 5 for $5 and you get to keep the wine glass, like the one in the picture below. My favorites that I recommend trying are Heart of the Lake, Semi-Dry Riesling, Perle, and 183. I absolutely recommend this winery to everyone and I will continue to visit yearly, especially to stock up. read more
